Any advice from the more experienced mummies to be? Currently have a real pain at the bottom of my bump/pelvis area. Really sharp pain that is takig my breath away. Any ideas?

teainbed · 23/04/2017 20:40

Good luck @yellowismyfavourite !

Beautiful pictures @RasperryInAMelon you look like you were well looked after!

@Tickyboovicki tell us more? Bad/mild pain? Constant or intermittent? Better when resting? Do call triage if you're concerned!

Amusing Daily Mail article about a couple I vaguely know and their very expensive buggy. www.google.co.uk/amp/www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4125176/amp/Parents-slam-Ryanair-destroying-baby-s-pram.html

Tickyboovicki · 23/04/2017 20:44

Mostly when I move from one position to another (i.e. Going from sitting to standing or vice versa, or occasionally just randomly) definitely intermittent, manageable but sharp enough to take my breath away for a moment.
Not sure if I've just overdone it a bit today or not. Just not ready for it to be baby just yet 🙈

Will see how I get on this evening and if it doesn't ease up I'll ring triage later on

1004Rise · 23/04/2017 21:04

@Tickyboovicki I was getting them about a week ago, real stabby pains that took my breath away - also for the first time I found it difficult to walk. I thought it was baby's head getting engaged but after a couple of days it stopped so I'm none the wiser!

@yellowismyfavourite oooo exciting times, hope you manage to get some rest! Looking forward to your updates

Question for those of you who have had babies before how far into your pregnancy were you still able to drive? Because we're moving in several steps we have a van at the weekend for the stuff that can't go into storage which means I have to drive the car (with the fur babies Grin) to my DPs which is about 4hrs driving. I didn't think anything of it (I'll be 37+5) but my DPs think I'm mad. I can still fit in the drivers seat and reach the pedals without an issue but am I being crazy?

newbieho · 23/04/2017 21:12

@yellowismyfavourite good luck, hope all goes well and quick Star

Tickyboovicki · 23/04/2017 21:13

I've been driving with absolutely no issues!
Annoying that you never found out what it was (seems to happen a lot in pregnancy!) but glad to hear it stopped

beanturnipandspud · 23/04/2017 21:26

@yellowismyfavourite ahhhgood luck. Hope you have a positive experience and I am looking forward to seeing your post 😊 is babyYellow a surprise or do we know 💖💙?

@FoxMulder we are currently about 30mins away from hospital and when we move we are only 5-10mins away so no big drives need to happen for us. I am sure you will work out a plan that will work for you. Hopefully it won't even be needed. 😊

@RasperryInAMelon glad your pains have settled. My BH have been getting stronger by the day, but they still don't hurt. You will know when they change from BH to the real deal. But if you're ever worried just call the midwives, it's what they're there for 😘

@Tickyboovicki what you are describing is what I would call "fanny daggers" they hurt like a bitch and my midwives have no idea what causes the pain. I've decided it's baby's head and increasing weight and decreasing waters 👍🏼 I too get them most when I move from sitting to standing and it can take my breath away too. I haven't yet found a cure other than delivering, so if you find one please share 😊

@1004Rise I drove whilst contracting at 39wks with Turnip. You just need to make sure you take regular breaks. I am still driving now too, although bean & turnip have to climb out passenger side of car as I can't move my seat (3 door car) 😩🙈

savagehk · 23/04/2017 21:30

1004 I don't drive often (don't own a car) but it was rather uncomfortable driving one this weekend even for short distances - bump interfering with thighs etc. If it were my car or i was driving any significant distance I'd probably prop the seat more upright and shove a cushion under my bum. I did drive last time when past 40 weeks, i remember doing an IKEA and John Lewis trip.....

savagehk · 23/04/2017 21:32

(I'm officially 38w yesterday)

Tickyboovicki · 23/04/2017 21:32

bean sadly I don't think it's fanny daggers! Have been getting that on and off for the past few weeks, but this is slightly higher up? Bottom of my bump/top of pelvis if that makes sense?

Badgerbird · 23/04/2017 22:13

northern he is an absolute cutey! Love his serious little expression Smile

Good luck yellow!!

newbie I think the exhaustion is pretty standard Sad I've felt like crap since Fri. Shattered, emotional, pissed off, hormonal and frustrated that I can't do everything I need to do. Cried a few times.... still got 4.5 weeks to go so this had better pass!!

raspberry how lovely!! The baby shower, not the BH and sickness!! It sounded like my BH tbh, glad it's passed. As you can see from above today did not go better unfortunately but we did get nursery painting finished. (And managed not to kill eachother) Woopeee!!

Rustler74 · 23/04/2017 22:35

I'm in the feeling crappy boat. My tummy has been upset most of the afternoon and I've been so short of breath today! Best head to bed now and get a lie in tomorrow morning.

@yellowismyfavourite good luck x

Lovely photo @Northernexile
Congrats @WishIWasSleeping
Good luck @yellowismyfavourite

@Tickyboovicki at NHS antenatal class yesterday the midwife described that pain as when baby's head is getting engaged. Also suggested baby's head can pop in and out of pelvis which is perhaps why pain is worse

@RasperryInAMelon lovely baby shower pics

I'm also feeling rather tired at the moment @newbieho, and @Badgerbird I have had a few cries. I feel DH can't relate to how I'm feeling and hasn't really connected with pregnancy yet - he doesn't have my nesting feelings and seems rather laid back which frustrates me even more!

Glad I'm working from home tomorrow as definitely need some rest after clearing remaining stuff from allotment. Hopefully I will sleep a bit better for it!

MrsJW15 · 23/04/2017 23:42

Good luck yellow!

All these random pains - wish we knew what they were. I find the discomfort hard to describe. I think I feel the head trying to engage but I'm not sure. I'm just assuming I'll know when contractions start!

I had a birthday party/mini baby shower this afternoon which was a lovely opportunity to see people and we got some lovely gifts.

lullaby23 · 24/04/2017 01:42

Wishing you lots of luck yellow!

crazyzooo · 24/04/2017 02:34

Morning, insomniacs... So this evening (last night) at 36+3 my waters broke... Now in hospital being monitored, mild contractions and baby seems OK so far... Wasn't quite ready for this. Hospital bag half packed (get packing people - you never know!), car seat not fitted yet, DP and my mother had shared wine (last time before birth) so I had to drive us in, consultant appointment to finalise ELCS booked for Tuesday... Argh!!!

Don't feel I am quite ready yet but here it comes Confused. Hopefully will stay put until the morning so can discuss ELCS with consultant when she comes on shift...

teainbed · 24/04/2017 03:02

Eek @crazyzooo ! Nothing like taking you by surprise! Hope the night is peaceful.

Rustler74 · 24/04/2017 03:09

@crazyzooo wow that was unexpected! I hope you manage to catch some sleep!
I'm in the insomnia boat after a very uncomfortable Sunday afternoon but at least I'm now feeling signs of feet where they're supposed to be felt! It's just that sprout thinks insomnia is the time when there should be a party. The (milk) bar isn't open yet so no party for me. I'm very short of breath now and a bit wheezy to the point I may call gp in the morning.
Sorry for the moan!
@Badgerbird I get the crying and irritation! And @vanilla8 we will need to get your DH to understand what it is about! How far along are you? Get him a rucksack with the amount of kilos you've gained?
@yellowismyfavourite is there any progress?
Oh dear, my OH is now snoring so falling back asleep is sounding impossible Confused

Hi middle of the night crew !
Heartburn and indigestion here ! Baby is really low and uncomfortable- was 3/5 engaged at last appointment so I've a feeling it won't be long ! Would really like him to stay put another week just until bathroom is finished and deep clean has been carried out. Mum thinks we're crazy to have had work done in house this close to due date ! 37 weeks today. Bags are packed so I won't be in too much of a panic if things start to happen.....

Northernexile · 24/04/2017 03:35

Hi night crew! Thanks for the picture appreciation everybody- we are home and now embarking on the joys of night feeds. Milk has come in today, took me by surprise a little, so getting him latched on has been tricky but doing OK otherwise.
Good luck crazyzooo - is a vb an option or did you need the elcs for medical reasons? Hope the next few hours go smoothly anyway.
Also hope your induction is going well yellow. Insomnia is rubbish rustler and adventure, hope you get a bit of rest for the rest of the night. The heartburn does seem to stop after birth so at least that should be one less thing to keep you awake other than the baby!

RasperryInAMelon · 24/04/2017 03:41

Hey all! Wide awake over here too...

Suffering badly tonight and have been since I went to bed, the BH tightenings have stopped, but constant nausea, feel like I need the bathroom and don't and, really dull lower back ache and oddly a constant need to burp (gross I know)... anyone else had similar?

Did the standard stupid thing and started googling and a lot of women saying they remember that being how they were a day or so before they went into labour... 😳 I really need her to stay put for another week and a bit...

Hope everything goes ok @crazyzooo

Adventuregame · 24/04/2017 03:57

Burping constantly here too *raspberry

RasperryInAMelon · 24/04/2017 04:03

What's with that @Adventuregame I feel horrendous

savagehk · 24/04/2017 04:41

Burping is the relaxin i think. Good luck crazy!
