Northern I have severe anxiety wrt childbirth hence the ELCS, so ideally not. If they tell me in the morning that a c-section would be the wrong choice for a slight preemie, then I would have to re-asses, though I am worried it will make me sick postnatally and completely ruin any bonding etc. Only managed an hour's sleep so far and keeping my shit together by the skin of my teeth.

For anyone discussing waters going earlier - yeah I would totally get a mattress cover... Mine went in actual spectacular movie style Grin Shock

raspberry I had had BHs for a couple of days and felt pressure down below and was googling "fanny daggers" minutes before. Was also wondering if I had a UTI and was burping like a sailor.

ClaireSunflower · 24/04/2017 05:56

Hi team insomnia. I've been up for a while trying to get back to sleep. DH just started snoring so have given up trying!

Good luck @yellowismyfavourite and @crazyzooo hope it all goes well

I am 36+1 today and slightly panicking now that I haven't packed my hospital bag. I think I'm going to do that today. It's my first day of maternity leave so I need something to do anyway.

jennymac31 · 24/04/2017 06:57

Morning ladies

Thought I'd catch up with the thread and blimey there's a lot going on. Good luck yellow & crazy!

Was hoping for a relaxing week after my busy 1st week of maternity leave but hubby has asked me to paint the bedroom doors today, even though I honestly don't think I'll have the energy to do so. Will paint until this afternoon before I head out to my acupuncture consultation with new therapist. Hoping that it's more successful than last week's consultation.

Hope you've all managed to enjoy the sunshine recently.

Sipperskipper · 24/04/2017 07:02

Wishing you the best of luck yellow & crazy! Will be thinking of you today.

I'm getting the 'fanny daggers' too, and lots of odd pressure very low down when I go from sitting to standing. Its only the last few days really where I've felt heavily pregnant and uncomfortable! (38+1 today).

savagehk · 24/04/2017 07:02

crazy is it your first?

lullaby23 · 24/04/2017 07:30

Good luck crazy hope they can fit you in on their CS list.

Hope the wide awake gang got a few more hours sleep. I got up for a wee at 4.30 and took ages to get back to sleep and ended up turning my alarm off!

newbieho · 24/04/2017 07:33

After spending half of the night on the loo with D&V I am certain the baby won't stay inside for another three weeks (37+3 today). Will call maternity assessment unit as soon as they open this morning. Belly feels tight and very irregular contractions (?) appeared.

@RasperryInAMelon I am burping constantly too, it's even hard to predict when the next burp is coming ☺️ very embarrassing.

@crazyzooo Good luck and fingers crossed for you and the little one Star

Badgerbird · 24/04/2017 07:33

crazy I remember how anxious about childbirth you said you were so this must be a bit of a shock. You are in the right place, just try to breath deeply, drink water and stay as calm as possible. Can you listen to some calming meditations or hypnobirthing type tracks from YouTube on your phone maybe? You will be fine. Thinking of you and how you will be meeting your little one soon :)

vanilla it's frustrating isn't it. I tried to explain (whilst bawling) that its hormones, he said I needed a nap, I said I didn't and that he doesn't understand pregnant women then promptly fell asleep in my decorating clothes for over an hour!! Hope you slept well after clearing lottie :)

Good luck with acupuncture jenny. I tried a couple of different therapists before I settled on my main one. Also maybe just paint 1 side of the door a day if doing the whole thing is too much.

Badgerbird · 24/04/2017 07:36

Eeek newbie you now aswell!! Hope you don't feel too rotten and fingers crossed all goes smoothly x

Badgerbird · 24/04/2017 07:37

Maybe this is why you've been feeling so utterly knackered newbie?!?

Autumnsweater · 24/04/2017 07:42

@crazyzooo wow that must have been unexpected! I'm 36+2 so can imagine!! Good luck, you're in the right place.

To all those doing DIY: put your feet up Grin. Baby won't care if the doors are painted or not.

Tickyboovicki · 24/04/2017 07:49

crazy how exciting! Good luck, hope it goes well with the consultant and you get what you need to help you feel comfortable!

Pains finally stopped in the early hours of the morning. Baby has been head down and engaged for a while so no idea what it could have been, possibly false labour? Am 39 weeks tomorrow so wouldn't be out of the question!

Hope all the insomniac are feeling ok, I always try my hardest not to look at my phone in the night but did spend most of last night on google 🙊
Sweet thing is my other half was so excited when he thought they might be contractions, it's just me that wants a bit more time!!

At least now I can spend today chasing up house move stuff to try and figure out where we're at!

lullaby23 · 24/04/2017 07:54

Good luck to all the ladies with twinges, could be a bumper baby week - exciting!

BouncingBlueberry · 24/04/2017 08:04

I'm going to make a prediction that we have a baby everyday this week. Not mine hopefully as im an end of May and our car/seat pram isn't coming till the first week of May.

RasperryInAMelon · 24/04/2017 08:15

Managed to get back to sleep for a few hours after baby stopped having hiccups, I ended up in tears with the discomfort and woke DH bless him.

@jennymac31 don't overdo it, take your time and rest if you need to!

@newbieho It sounds weird, but I can feel all this gassy build up and was eventually sick, but it was more like I burped and brought up food at the same time 😔 let us know what MAU say this morning, fingers crossed for you 🤞🏻

stationaryace · 24/04/2017 08:17

raspberry backache and nausea here last night too, along with random groin pain in my right side. Knew it was bad as I went straight to bed without any Internet faffing. Managed some sleep, just in case something was happening, but that wasn't fun. DH looked surprised this morning when I said he wasn't to drink when going out after work tomorrow - we've done this before, you'd think he would remember Hmm

jennymac31 · 24/04/2017 08:23

Badgerbird & raspberryinmelon - I'll be taking my time with the doors. It's just that we have carpet being fitted tomorrow and dh still has to finish paint the bedroom. Told him we should pay someone to do it but he was insistent that he'll get it done. Ju hope it'll dry by tomorrow morning, given that he plans to finish the painting after work tonight!

dreamofhungarianlanterns · 24/04/2017 08:28

Good luck yellow and crazyzoo hope all goes well for you both.

Beautiful picture northern - people who have had/ are having babies we are all ready and waiting to coo over any photos you want to post so keep them coming!!!

newbie sounds like an awful night poor you.

Claire enjoy your first day of maternity leave it's magic Grin

Anyone else finding their heartburn slightly subsiding as they approach their due date? I really hope I haven't written that too soon. Thanks for the relaxin explanation savage, I am getting acid burps just a bit less of the inevitable after food burn. Think the ducklings (now we are 3, the one that DP had to remove a manhole cover to get to died yesterday Sad ) might be helping with the insomnia a little too as they are a shitload of work and my kitchen diner is covered in the unbelievable amount of stuff it's taking to keep them fed, watered and warm (sound familiar those who are already parents???!!). It's like a sauna in there, 24 hour oil radiator on unless they go to work with DP.

Ohh, bathroom (was that adventure?) totally worth it I am in love with mine, goodbye really badly done white box, hello quite dark but not smaller feeling slightly moody grown up lovely space Grin. Jenny are you sure that it's ok for you to use the kind of paint that is needed for your doors at this stage of pregnancy? Totally serious question but also a little Wink

Barnes79 · 24/04/2017 08:35

Crazy fingers crossed they can bring your ELCS forwards

Newbie At my antenatal classes they did say D&V could be the body emptying itself ready for labour Confused Just thought it worth mentioning just in case...

Good luck to everyone else with waters breaking etc just in case I've missed anyone

1004Rise · 24/04/2017 08:37

@crazyzooo that must have been a shock for you. I remember you saying how anxious you were. Hope they can fit you in on the CS list. I guess your baby just didn't want to wait any longer to meet you! Good Luck 💐

@newbieho eeek sounds like something might be happening!

I've been telling my DH about our "early" arrivals and I think it's making it more real for him. We had a long talk about the fact that it feels like I've had longer to process the fact that baby is coming because he can still jump on his motorbike or bike or go up a hill with the dogs and while he realises it's been "hidden " by the fact that I'm still working but he's been off. So I think I'm quite calm about it all now and he's going through the panic that I felt at about 20 weeks or so. I still occasionally find it really odd that there's this little person that we're going to meet in a few weeks that's going to rely on us for everything 😳 We've had several conversations with bump about how s/he should stay put for a while yet, but s/he keeps changing position (I think) so much that s/he isn't ready yet either!

Midwife appointment for me at 11 this morning to see if baby is the right way up and to talk birth plan, this is probably the last one I'll have before we move so I'm a bit sad that she won't get to meet baby when's/he finally arrives! 😢

Should really get up, last Monday at work til December 😁

crazyzooo · 24/04/2017 08:42

Thanks for the support/kind words everyone. Badger I really wish I was the hypno/pilates/yoga type!! Think "working sheep dog" anxious/pacing (annoying) personality. Poor midwifes!! Yes it's my first savagehk (so definitely not supposed to be early). I am never early for anything so the tadpole is clearly taking after his Dad!

Good luck ticky, newbie, stationary, raspberry and anyone else with "twinges"!!

Stationary definitely stop DP on the vino... I had to drive myself in last night as my DP had enjoyed a lot of wine yesterday...!!

crazyzooo · 24/04/2017 08:58

Obviously I am an anxious sort but in all fairness I feel I should mention (in case I am making anyone else nervous) the care I have had so far. Every staff member I have met have been friendly and helpful (even at 3am!). The ward is very clean, breakfast served, been offered pain relief, been monitored, privacy respected etc. So far so lucky!!

Tickyboovicki · 24/04/2017 09:04

Glad to hear your having a good experience crazy despite the anxiety it's the best place for you! Very exciting to think we might have another baby on this thread soon! Do you know what your having?

newbieho · 24/04/2017 09:22

Called MAU and they think it can be either stomach bug or the beginning of labour - it's too early to say. I was advised to wait 48 hrs and see how it progresses.

At least baby is moving which is reassuring.

@ClaireSunflower enjoy your first day of mat leave and better start packing hospital bag 😉

jennymac31 · 24/04/2017 09:25

Dreams - I hadn't even thought about whether it would be safe for me to paint given the late stage of my pregnancy. Hubby sent me an email saying that I should just do what I can but if I'm not up to it then we can leave it for now.
