Had mw home visit this morning. She was really positive about the home birth and I'm feeling great about it all right now! Grin

Baby is head down but can't tell which way it is facing.

Can't wait to hear from northern!!

savagehk · 21/04/2017 14:43

Oh no Esmes. Will they try ECV at 37 weeks if still feet first?

Autumnsweater · 21/04/2017 14:44

It's ridiculous isn't it savage. I noticed as I left that as soon as I went in to see the doctor someone had shut the window of the side room I was in (which will have been cooling the main waiting room down a bit as well).. surely I wasn't the only pregnant woman who found it too hot in there!

FoxMulder · 21/04/2017 14:48

Yeah autumn I had a very similar experience seeing the consultant when I had the placenta scan. Knew everything was fine from the sonographer but still had to wait hours to see the consultant in mega hot room just for him to tell me what I already knew. Don't know what the point was!

Autumnsweater · 21/04/2017 14:51

OMG FoxMulder that is what this was to a T!! I knew it was all fine, felt like it was a total waste of NHS resources AND my time and patience!

savagehk · 21/04/2017 14:53

Fox apparently if you feel 'tickling' down by your cervix in the front that's a sign they're the wrong way around (as they're playing with their fingers by their face). I also keep getting lots of feet / elbows poking out of my bump, no bum shape.

coxsorangepippin · 21/04/2017 14:58

Do any of you understand childcare vouchers? I'm trying to work out if I can accumulate salary-sacrifice vouchers while on mat leave (the voucher company's leaflet seems to say yes but when I phoned them to register they said no...)

savagehk · 21/04/2017 15:02

cox This is useful www.moneysavingexpert.com/family/childcare-vouchers

I think the issue for you might be the baby isn't born yet? But otherwise you can usually continue with them, the one issue is that you can't salary sacrifice below minimum wage (which you might be on if on mat leave). I seem to recall it depends on whether it's a normal 'benefit' you're entitled to or not, if it is it isn't supposed to stop just because you're on mat leave (like accumulating holiday) but because it's linked to your earnings it's a bit of a grey area.

yellowismyfavourite · 21/04/2017 15:04

autumn glad all is well but no wonder you were cross... Our hospital waiting room is like that too... it's horrible and was so stuffy this morning
Thanks shini I like the stairs tip. If this baby is as small as they say it is I think it just has too much wriggling room... I have a long torso too so loads of space! esme I hope baby turns... even when you know it's right for baby it's still disappointing thinking you won't get the birth experience you want

EsmesBees · 21/04/2017 15:06

She didn't say savage. I suppose they will decide after the scan. I was a bit surprised as the baby has been head down for ages. She said I've still got a while so not to worry yet. Which I am trying to do, except I didn't factor in major surgery into my plans, and we get so little family support so I am a bit worried about toddler and recovery combo.

EsmesBees · 21/04/2017 15:09

Cox yes you can accumulate them on mat leave- I did last time but only once the baby was here and we had chosen a nursery. And will do this time for dd1.

savagehk · 21/04/2017 15:09

esmes would you consider vaginal breech? If I thought my baby would have a normally sized head and there was a consultant who had experience with those deliveries I might consider it (my baby is going to have a massive head if it's anything like its older brother!)

Sipperskipper · 21/04/2017 15:24

That sounds so annoying autumn!!!

Agree re: the clutter esmes, that would irritate me too!!

Think my weird uncomfortable tummy may just be a slightly upset tummy, as it was made worse by the huge (but delicious!) sausage roll I had for lunch!

Supposed to be going to DH's stepsister's wedding tonight, but have just found out through the 'grapevine' that her son has broken out in chicken pox! (And is going.) Am a bit miffed that she didn't think to let me know! I know its a small risk to catch anything, but with everything else going on I can't face any more things to worry about!

savagehk · 21/04/2017 15:25

skipper have you had it before? If so you're fine, if not stay well away!

Sipperskipper · 21/04/2017 15:30

I'm not sure savage - I checked with my mum and she said she couldn't remember if it was me or my brother who had it!

newbieho · 21/04/2017 15:37

@ClaireSunflower congratulations on baby's turning, that is great news!

@Sipperskipper I have got DV last night (apologies for TMI) and I am wondering if the niewbie baby is on its way already (37 weeks today) or is it just stomach bug. I have managed to keep inside a bit of porridge, water and a few sips of decarbonated coke since the morning so fingers crossed the baby will stay inside for a bit longer.

Northernexile · 21/04/2017 15:47

Hi everyone, my baby boy arrived at 9.24 this morning, weighing 6lb 8oz. He's gorgeous, the section went fine and we are both doing well, he's had a couple of feeds and is dozing now. Hope everyone is OK, I'll catch up on today's posts when I get a quiet moment x

savagehk · 21/04/2017 15:48

Yay northern!

MrsJW15 · 21/04/2017 15:51

Congratulations Northern!

BouncingBlueberry · 21/04/2017 15:57

Congratulations @Northernexile xx

savagehk · 21/04/2017 15:59

Well that's not helpful skipper. Have you been around the child concerned in the last two or so weeks? If so, might be worth checking with your midwife.

Teaspoon74 · 21/04/2017 16:02

MrsJW with you on the sore ribs thing. Just on the left for me. To the point I'm feeling my skin is tender on the outside!!.

Esmes fingers crossed for a turn!

Badger o have the hard top tummy too!! Feeling v barrel chested rather than baby bellied as she seems to be quite high and with my high AP I'm kinda tube shaped!

Shini glad that the tests went well. And that the CTG have some reassurance. Even with a little less activity, the heartbeat gives comfort, no?

Tea here 👋🏻

Claire that's great news!!

Dream the ducklings have made my day - thank you!!

Rabbity exciting!!

So you know how sometimes it takes something happen to give you perspective, right?

Tears yesterday over being asked if I'm ok = over reaction.

However, waking up today to massive water leak nearly bringing down ceiling in newly decorated living room, fusing electrics, and resulting in no water of any sort until tomorrow afternoon when emergency plumber can get here (all whilst very demanding/toddler like father is staying) = good reason for tears.

Off to book a hotel for a couple of nights. And find a paper bag to breathe into!!

Hope your days are going better 🙃

Teaspoon74 · 21/04/2017 16:04

And huge congrats Northern - looking forward to the pics!

coxsorangepippin · 21/04/2017 16:05

northern congratulations! So happy for you Smile

teaspoon sending lots of good vibes the way of your plumber and your ceiling!

Sipperskipper · 21/04/2017 16:06

northern congratulations!!! Wonderful news. Hope you make a speedy revovery. Would love to see a pic of your little one.

newbie its hard not to think everything is the start of labour isnt it! Every twinge or feeling I think 'this is it!!'

savage no, haven't seen them since before Christmas, but thank you for the advice.
