So a couple of days ago I had my first proper "oh blimey, has it started?!" experience....
I'd sat down to listen to hypnobirthing track, headphones on and had sore back which then lead to period type cramps round front of tummy low down. Then got very dizzy, thought I was going to vomit and had very hot flush and started sweating. Took jumper off and breathed deeply thinking I'd have to crawl upstairs to be sick coz too dizzy to stand.
After a few minutes everything subsided....
Have had the slight tummy cramps again since and def more BH than usual. 35 weeks.
I guess it's my body getting ready?? Eeeek!! Exciting!!!! ConfusedShock

beachsands · 21/04/2017 09:39

badger I think the same. 35 weeks too. Have had some odd pains but I think it's just getting to the end. I'm nauseous every evening too. It can be very confusing. My movements are very tight too.

beachsands · 21/04/2017 09:44

jennymac I had acupuncture on DC1 but due to an awkward positioned baby I don't think it did anything. I did enjoy it. I had reflexology on DC2 and I think that was more beneficial. She happened to be a midwife which was a bonus. Unfortunately she's no longer in my area so may just try acupuncture soon. Good luck with it.

ClaireSunflower · 21/04/2017 09:50

The placenta has moved up so I'm all set for a natural birth! Very happy and relieved as I wasn't keen on a csection. Now I'm going to have to start reading about Hypnobirthing. I'd been putting it off to avoid disappointment if I couldn't use it!

MrsJW15 · 21/04/2017 10:10

Dream those ducklings are so cute!

Great news Claire. We are trying to practice some hypnobirthing stuff at the moment - although my MW reminded me that birth is not an exam that you can prepare for. It did help last night with my general discomfort etc.

Badger, Beach I think/hope I've had similar. More BH, movements feel like baby has less space, and just general pains. Makes me feel like I'm approaching the end. I think I see a lot more massage and baths in my future... 37 weeks today, and less than a week of work to go!

teainbed · 21/04/2017 10:26

That's great news @ClaireSunflower !

I feel the need for a class register every morning here! In case someone has popped overnight to have a baby! Grin

jennymac31 · 21/04/2017 11:04

Badgerbird - tbh I've wanted to replace the windows since we bought the house but dh wanted to concentrate on the major renovation work first, which is understandable. He didn't think the windows until we experienced the recent spell of good weather and he noticed that we couldn't take advantage of the hill views because of the state of the windows (I've known this fact for the last 2 years but my protests fell on deaf ears!). It’s just coincidental that the company who did the windows of our last place have time over the next week or so to do the work so we're gonna try to take advantage.

Sipperskipper · 21/04/2017 11:06

Brilliant news claire!

Those ducklings are gorgeous dream!

Not sure if what I've been experiencing is normal - I sort of feel like I have an upset tummy - no cramps or contractions, but it feels uncomfortable, & was very uncomfortable in the night whenever I moved. Feel slightly queasy / delicate too. 37 + 5 today. Baby is predicted to be big so a bit early is hopefully OK.....!

PeachIcedT · 21/04/2017 11:24

That is great news @ClaireSunflower I'm really pleased for you! Super cute ducklings @dreamofhungarianlanterns they are certainly lucky ducks!

Just cancelled majority of the leave I booked off 'just in case' next week. I figured if I'm still managing to walk 7k a day then I can manage another week of work... I hope!

EsmesBees · 21/04/2017 11:56

Great news Claire. Yay for getting the birth you want.

Peach 7k a day! Really impressed.

Sipper sorry if TMI but do you actually have an upset tummy/been sick? If so, that's how my first labour started!

Thinking of you today northern. Hope you got a good night's sleep.

My parents in law have just turned up with a car load worth of toys and clothes for DD. All hand me downs from various relatives and fab stuff, but I just don't have any more room for any more things. The playroom is fit to burst, the loft is stuffed with baby clothes, the baby's room is still full of boxes of books and paper work, and half made furniture. I don't mean to be ungrateful but it makes me feel overwhelmed. MiL said I can just get rid of what I don't want, but even that means more work.

EsmesBees · 21/04/2017 11:58

Just read that back and I am being really ungrateful! I blame the hormones. I think my heart wants to nest and my head is fed up with the state of the place.

teainbed · 21/04/2017 12:02

No I understand that @EsmesBees - when DS1 was born someone brought round flowers. I was inwardly raging that they'd given me something that required the effort the find a vase and cut and arrange them! Blush I was exhausted and hormonal but even so.

ShiniBerry · 21/04/2017 12:11

Hello ladies, been a while since I last posted!

Dream those ducklings are adorable and kudos on the parenting win!

Northern hope all is going well, looking forward to another baby on the thread.

Teainbed sounds like you and babytea are doing really well. Very impressed you made it out!

Great news Claire hope you are feeling less stressed.

Sounds like something maybe starting Badger phone your midwife if it gets worse.

Mighty and Brightsmoke hope you're both doing OK?

Yay Raspberry feels marvelous to actually feel like you've had some sleep doesn't it?

Yellow hope the scan and sweep go well! Not long now!

Good luck to everyone with weddings/events to attend! Be sure to pay attention to your body and know when you've reached your limit!

38 weeks today and can't believe our LO can arrive any time now! I've been feeling a lot of pressure "down there" especially when out walking.

We had our final NCT breastfeeding class which was a 3 hour evening session and the NHS hospital antenatal class from 10-4 the next day so this week (my first week of maternity leave) has been exhausting. We actually found both NCT and NHS classes really useful and DH says he thinks he feels a lot more prepared now after attending both as they presented information in different ways and sort of complemented each other. The hospital one had a lot of useful hospital specific information as well as the expected labour/birth/new baby info.

I had to go in for a CTG as baby's movements were sluggish for a couple of days. Everything turned out to be OK, but they said it could be that he's just not a very active baby now compared to how he used to be which worries me. They told me that babies really can't run out of space and that they will still find room to move, and if I felt reduced movement to come back in. Anyhow he has been a bit more active the past 2 days so maybe he just decided to have a chilled out few days??! I've also been booked in for another growth scan and appointment with the consultant next week because of GD and was told at my 40 week appointment they would discuss whether I would need to be induced... :-/

Badgerbird · 21/04/2017 12:12

Great news claire!! Smile

Sounds like good timing jenny. It can be frustrating waiting for them to figure it out in their own time sometimes eh! Confused We've had the same here with knocking a wall down.... took me 6 years!! It's bloody brilliant now (did it in Oct) and we both love it!

Nope. Totally understand esme!

ClaireSunflower · 21/04/2017 13:04

You don't sound ungrateful @EsmesBees it is really overwhelming when you're inundated with so much stuff. We're in a small house and not much storage. The other day we got 3 massive bags of clothes, all lovely and brand new from MIL. She must have spend a fortune and I appreciate it but it doesn't stop me worrying where im going to put it all. I just hate mess and clutter! It's good if they dont mind you getting rid of what you don't want though.

@ShiniBerry hopefully the baby's movements will pick up again. Good you are being monitored. I feel like mine is running out of space. I still feel him just as often but the movements are really subtle now. I hardly ever feel kicks anymore, just slight movements where I can feel him rolling a bit, or pressing various body parts against me.

Badgerbird · 21/04/2017 13:05

My braxton hicks seem to make the top of my tummy go really hard as opposed to the lower part. Anyone else get this? Is it to do with AP?

yellowismyfavourite · 21/04/2017 13:09

Claire that's excellent news! So pleased for you that you can have the birth you want
Sounds like lots of babys are getting ready now... so exciting
shini glad everything was ok in the end and movement is back to normal... it's scary sometimes!

Scan today showed baby has wriggled back to back again... Going to be doing lots of ball bouncing and walking over the next two days!!!

yellowismyfavourite · 21/04/2017 13:11

@Badgerbird mine are like that and they make me really breathless... I also have a AP but don't know if it has anything to do with it

MrsJW15 · 21/04/2017 13:39

Esmes that sounds totally reasonable. I majorly panicked at the idea of my in laws just dumping a load of stuff on us. In the end, we were able to select a few things at their house which they are going to give us (this was a month ago, apparently the clothes are all washed and not ironed... no idea when we will actually get it all!). I just can't bear the idea of our small flat being cluttered with things we don't need!

Still so uncomfortable. I can feel baby moving quite high up - ie in my ribs, and it seems to hurt in my back as well. Fairly constantly really. I'm looking forward to stopping working just because sitting at the desk all the time is so uncomfortable!

ShiniBerry · 21/04/2017 14:04

Clairesunflower that's exactly how the movements feel for me now, but a lot less than before, so not as often.

Yellowismyfavourite if you haven't already, check out the spinning babies website. Also heard that when you are/do want to go into labour try going up and down the stairs sideways as that helps baby move into position.

lullaby23 · 21/04/2017 14:34

dream loving the duckies, think they are an excellent temporary baby surrogate 🐤🐤

claire hurray for shifted placenta!

tea register? yes miss

All these twinges sound exciting hope things are moving in the right direction! I think baby has flipped as getting hiccups low down now rather than under ribs but ribs still sore!

Autumnsweater · 21/04/2017 14:40

I have been put in such a bad mood after by my consultant appointment this morning need to rant!!

Waited an hour to get 'triaged' (how is it triage if you have a a scheduled appointment 🙄), waiting room so hot and stuffy I felt dizzy and my BP was up. They sat me in a side room with an open window where I then waited ANOTHER hour to be seen by the consultant!! No warning that they are running behind or anything like that so I couldn't go and get a sandwich, I asked this but was told best not to Hmm then waited for ages after this!

All is fine at consultant appointment and I'm going back under the community midwives. Which is good but I'm so enraged by the morning I haven't taken that bit in 😂.

savagehk · 21/04/2017 14:42

autumn that sucks. I can't understand why medical waiting areas (or indeed consulting rooms) need to be so bloomin' hot. The place where I have my community midwife appointments is awful, they have to open the windows and even then they take forever to cool down!

Autumnsweater · 21/04/2017 14:42

Ps reading through here has cheered me up a bit particularly the ducklings dream 😍😍 and the idea of a daily register teainbed 😂

EsmesBees · 21/04/2017 14:42

Thanks for all the understanding on the clutter issues. It's all far too old for my toddler as well which means storing for a few years before it's even worn/played with!!

Another one who will be looking on the spinning babies site. Just been to midwife, had a nice chat about how I was a good candidate for the birth centre and how I should go in at the first twinge this time, then she had a feel around and it seems that the baby is feet down. So presentation scan booked for 37 wks. Am a bit gutted as want to avoid a c section but the main thing is that the baby is fine and remains so.
