Looking forward to hearing about the your new arrival @Northernexile

@teainbed Nice to hear you managed a trip out with babyTea! What sling do you have? I want to go to a sling library but not sure whether to go before or after birth!?

@RasperryInAMelon how is your ankle?not sure if I have missed an update on that

I've started to get groin strain pain in one leg, my commute has slowed down loads, counting down the days at work.

Finally have the NHS antenatal class on Saturday, so get to find out where to go when Labour starts!

@peasandquiet I like the sound of reflexology

@beanturnipandspud I have a wedding in two weeks too, not a bridesmaid but I totally relate to how you are feeling

Rustler74 · 20/04/2017 19:39

Taking me ages catching up, particularly because I forget half of what people said!
@Northernexile excited for you for tomorrow! We will be thinking of you, that's a lot of mummy power coming your way!
@Barnes79 I get your flanger! I'm normally pretty good with ikea as it's always the same mechanisms to put things together and I'm afraid I'd struggle with other ones.
@Tickyboovicki I hope the move goes smooth after all! Don't get angry as there's nothing you can do about it,

Good luck on the other ones attending a wedding so close to due date. I'm attending one at 38 weeks, one week before my presumed induction date, and it's one I'd prefer not to miss as I've worked very closely with her for 6 years. Only thing is: it's 2 hours away...

One lady of our nct class is being induced coming Monday, which is a week before her due date, not sure why, but she's getting a good amount of support as she's our First Lady (I'm 5th of 8)

Tickyboovicki · 20/04/2017 19:47

rustler I had my cousins wedding Monday at 37+6 and it was suprisingly ok. I sat for most of the evening (no energy for dancing!) and left about 11 but was lovely to see all my family!

ClaireSunflower · 20/04/2017 20:15

@Barnes79 how annoying about the furniture. I'm terrible at flat pack stuff and get Dh to do it all!

@Northernexile So exciting you will have your baby tomorrow!! Hope it all goes smoothly and enjoy the newborn snuggles. So funny to think that all the babies are going to arrive so soon!

@Rustler74 Looks like you got some lovely gifts! I had a leaving party at work today. I'm not actually going until tomorrow but there's hardly anyone in tomorrow so they arranged it for today. I got a card that everyone had signed, a Ewan the sheep, a blanket, hat and towel from the white company, a burts bees mum to be gift set and £100 John Lewis vouchers. I was a bit at the amount of stuff. Can't believe how generous everyone was!

@beanturnipandspud Thanks for the advice about lavender oil, I'll have to get some!

@1004Rise I know what you mean about talking to people. I'm a definite introvert and I've found the whole being public property thing and constantly being talked at / about re all thing pregnancy quite difficult. Especially at work as I'm quite a private person.

Looking forward to my last day tomorrow. I'm not going back after mat leave so it will be strange to leave after 5 years!

I'm going to ask my midwife about the group b strep test as she's not mentioned it before. A girl I went to school with had it (undiagnosed) and her baby was very seriously ill after she was born. Thankfully recovered and is now a healthy 6 year old but still quite worrying.

I've got another scan tomorrow to see if my placenta has moved up. Fingers crossed it has as I'm not keen on having a csection. If I have to then that's fine but would rather not if I had a choice. Will be nice to see the baby again anyway and will see how much he weighs now.

PeachIcedT · 20/04/2017 20:40

@Northernexile I'm excited for your baby update tomorrow! Wishing you all the very best, you sound like you are getting everything very organised.

@Rustler74 and @ClaireSunflower seems like you got some lovely gifts, what generous colleagues!

@Tickyboovicki it must be so stressful moving at this stage, as it's stressful at the best of times. I hope things start to progress well for you, it'll all be worth it once you're in.

Had the tour of the MLU this evening, a bit odd when I work at the same hospital but I'd never had reason before to go inside there in particular. Looks very good to me and apparently they'll let you in until 42 weeks.

Also had NHS breastfeeding session - the main thing I learnt was that a couple of cabbage leaves in the bra can soothe sore nipples. Even better if you cool them beforehand. Was news to me! Anyone heard of this before?

newbieho · 20/04/2017 20:44

@PeachIcedT I've got cabbage leaves stored in the freezer already.

@ClaireSunflower what a nice goodbye pressie, it looks like you've got lovely colleagues.

EsmesBees · 20/04/2017 21:24

Haha peach I remember sending DH out for a cabbage for the freezer in the early days last time. It has to be a particular sort of cabbage, doesn't it?

36wk midwife appointment for me tomorrow. Hoping to get some clarity on what point I should go in to the hospital. Left it far too late last time.

Badgerbird · 20/04/2017 22:16

Sorry hustva quick catch up...

Thinking of you northern!!!

tea first outing, very exciting. What sling do you use? Glad blues have passed Brew

missmoo oooh blimey, how's rest of day gone?

savagehk · 20/04/2017 22:17

Cabbage in the bra is supposed to help with engorgement I thought not necessarily sore nipples, and may well have the effect of reducing your supply... (yep, see here www.laleche.org.uk/engorged-breasts-avoiding-and-treating/ )

pennysays · 20/04/2017 23:03

Hi everyone! We're on the final count down. I can't wait to see pics of your new arrivals I've seen two from my hypnobirthing class and they're super cute, not at all like gremlins!

My life is currently counting down the hours until I can next nap. I e also got builders in all this week and next which has been... Emotional! But hoping to have it all prepared for his lordships arrival.

Anyone else having a home birth? Really hope I don't give birth whilst builders are here!!

Autumnsweater · 20/04/2017 23:22

Just back from pregnancy Pilates class, which I've really enjoyed. Teacher has been so careful with my PGP.

@1004rise I definitely empathise with the introvertedness. But at least the topic of conversation is already sorted and you can just let people prattle on?!

@tickyboovicki what cheeky buyers you have, they should have more empathy! Stand your ground.

WishIWasSleeping · 21/04/2017 02:34

Ohh I can't wait for another baby pic Northern. Very exciting times.

Should the new thread setter-upper put not only the normal links on the first post but maybe a link to a birth story thread? I remember some people wanting to read them at leisure and the thought of a different thread for it?

Vanilla - I'd say go after the birth, then if the library is any good they can fit a few on you so you can see how you and baby actually feel.

Peach - Never did the cabbage leaf thing, but that's only because bf was luckily a breeze last time. But yes, I heard of it! They hold their temp pretty well so will be good to draw out some of the heat from sore boobs. I think it's white cabbage. A quick Google should help. Smile

I don't envy you moving people. We're rented but I made us move in November. That was bad enough! I was sick and exhausted all day! Super Helpful

Penny - I'm sure your builders would leave early should you go into labour!

Right. DH has only started snoring since I got back in the room from the loo. So time to not so gently nudge him so he bloody shuts up!!! Hmm

jennymac31 · 21/04/2017 03:01

Glad to see I'm not the only one who's awake right now.

Had my acupuncture consultation on Wednesday and although she seemed a lovely lady, I left the session unconvinced she knew what she was doing. Luckily I have managed to contact the original acupuncturist recommended by my physiotherapist so hopefully he'll be able to fit me in next week. I actually have another physiotherapist referral session this morning so will have another discussion about it then.

Despite being on maternity leave I seem to have been busier than ever. Trying to sort out the final bits to do to finish decorating our bedroom and have managed to 'add' replacing all the windows to the front of the house to this list!

Had hoped to sort out baby stuff e.g. double-check hospital bag etc but think this won't be looked at until early next week.

RasperryInAMelon · 21/04/2017 06:55

I did it! I managed to sleep until 6am!!

@Rustler74 looks like you had some lovely bits at your shower!

@MissMooMoo hope you're feeling better now?

@Barnes79 I'm guessing you got there in the end???

@Autumnsweater sounds useful 😒 bless you, I swear pregnancy was built to test our patience eh...

@Tickyboovicki ... pimms... mmmmmmm drooling...

@vanilla8 thanks for asking - it's certainly on the mend - VERY green at the moment but I managed a 3 hour drive down to the West Country last night

@jennymac31 Tell me about it right! I've done so much more since I've been off! I'm actually scheduling in a day where I intend to not even get out of bed (other than to pee a million times) next week!

After last nights mammoth drive to my parents, I've got a further 4 hour round trip today to visit my grandparents in Devon...

Rustler74 · 21/04/2017 07:12

@WishIWasSleeping I wish I could do the link thing but I think @RasperryInAMelon is quite good at it or @savagehk?

Still not heard from @nursebickypegs

Rabbitykins55 · 21/04/2017 07:18

Morning everyone! I've been having period type cramps and lower back ache for a few days now, I also think I've slowly been loosing my plug for a week now. Could this be the start of things or am I kidding myself?! I'm almost 38 weeks.

dreamofhungarianlanterns · 21/04/2017 07:56

Morning! I've not caught up but this is too cute not to share:

Q: What makes pregnancy insomnia worth it?
A: When you get home from dinner with friends to find DP and others in our nearest town have rescued 4 ducklings from the traffic/ down a drain with mum nowhere in sight and now the 4 ducklings are living in a (very cosy looking) home that DP has set up on the kitchen table and me getting up every 2 hours to refresh their hot water bottle is actually no bother at all!! All 4 alive and doing high pitched quacking. As you can see they have had a few poos which we all know is very important to establish. Going to claim it as first ever parenting win Grin. They have gone off with DP to work (farm) where he can rig up a rearing pen and there are a choice of duck ponds whenever they're ready.

EsmesBees · 21/04/2017 07:58

Could well be rabbity. Are the cramps at all regular?

That's a shame about the acupuncturist Jenny. Hope you can see the other one. I've got my first appointment next week but we don't get a consultation first. So if mine has no idea either I'm stuck with it

Day off today so being very lazy and lounging in bed. We are going to be very late for nursery this morning.

EsmesBees · 21/04/2017 07:59

Oh dream that may be the cutest thing ever!

Rabbitykins55 · 21/04/2017 08:03

@EsmesBees no not really which makes me think it isn't. Confused

Lovely ducklings! 😁

ClaireSunflower · 21/04/2017 08:05

@dreamofhungarianlanterns the ducklings are so cute! They are very lucky your DP found them. I would much prefer a day of playing with ducklings than going to work. Last day today, finally!

Just off for a scan to see what is happening with my placenta. Fingers crossed it has moved up.

1004Rise · 21/04/2017 08:29

@dreamofhungarianlanterns high five for your first parenting success they are super cute!!

Good luck @ClaireSunflower!

Thanks for the talking tips all, like the idea of setting them of running with lots of mmm hmmms Weird that I'm nervous usually I can put an non introvert face on Smile

dreamofhungarianlanterns · 21/04/2017 08:56

Haha! Apparently ducklings are now snuggling up to £200,000 worth of biomass boiler so they are quite the social climbers!!

Wish - sexy time - !! Not something that's been on my mind recently I will confess.
Rabbity that does sound like what the midwife at MLU visit said might happen in run up to labour but that equally she said that it could just stop. Good luck and maybe get your things together.
Tea well done for trip out.
Badger I'm also short, maxi dress is part of my borrowed maternity wardrobe and I've stuffed the excess fabric in my bra band all round to keep from tripping over, looks fine with a short cardi on top.

Good luck to all those with weddings and parties, I also struggle with unstructured prolonged chatting (love an activity - eating defo counts as activity - though) so have found the pregnancy conversations and steering towards the other person's experiences quite helpful.
Ticky what a pain, do what you need to as was already agreed.
Northern thinking of you

yellowismyfavourite · 21/04/2017 09:24

dream loving the ducklings
claire good luck with the scan

Badgerbird · 21/04/2017 09:25

dream I'm in love with your ducklings!!!! How wonderful Smile Sounds like they will have a good life. Loving the tucking dress into bra to keep from tripping over!!

Hey penny when are you due? I'm planning for a hb. Having builders in sounds pretty stressful. I am still painting woodwork and walls here!

ticky they sound like a nightmare Angry

jenny that's quite a big thing to add to the list Grin my DH sighs heavily when I add things like re grout kitchen floor to our diy list which I will most likely do. Being on all fours is good to get baby in position yeah?!

Yay raspberry!!! Now you just have to analyse your day to see what you did and do the same every day Wink We'll all be trying to do that with our babies when they have a rogue good nights sleep no doubt!
