teaspoin74 Thank you and yes it's my first (and potentially only at this rate!), started quite late (35).

Sorry to hear about your RFM/AP episodes yellowismyfavourite and badgerbird - it is frankly a worry we could be without at this point but glad to hear you're both looked after/monitored well!

First day of maternity leave and I am little bit bored... What is one supposed to do..? May decorate the nursery (found some lovely wall stickers on jojomamanbebe), bake stuff to force feed visitors, dog walk and swim! Oh and for you guys that asked about swimming in late pregnancy - I too asked my midwife about this. Her reply (she's one of the good 'uns) was to laugh and say "The chances of your waters breaking in the pool are slim to non and if they do it's probably the most sterile thing in there. Crack on and swim as long as you're able".

teainbed · 20/04/2017 12:41

Wow @Northernexile so exciting! All the very very best and hope you can update us as soon as you feel able. Good luck!

Minor triumph this morning was leaving the house. Took BabyTea out in the sling just a 5 minute walk to the shop. He seemed ok, I wasn't 100% happy with his face in the sling though as he seems to want to burrow his head down and is still quite scrunched up.

newbieho · 20/04/2017 13:00

Good luck @Northernexile, how exciting! Hope all goes well. You will hug your little one by that time tomorrow Smile

Barnes79 · 20/04/2017 13:16

So I tried to tackle building the changing unit today. The damn pieces that make the little barriers on the top don't fit 😡 And no, I don't believe it's just me being dim - I'm normally a flat pack ninja! I even tried loosening bits so I could get screws in holes and then re-tighten, but then the flipping wooden dowels wouldn't fit in. 😤

My tip - don't buy nursery furniture from mothercare. I really don't fancy dismantling it and repacking it so I can return it so have emailed mothercare to ask for replacement pieces in the hope it's just a bad batch.

RasperryInAMelon · 20/04/2017 13:35

@Autumnsweater keep me in the loop, it'd be interesting to hear what they say

@crazyzooo glad to have you back ☺️

Amazing news @Northernexile! You'll have to let us know how it goes!

@Barnes79 sorry to hear you've had issues with you furniture- we got ours from Mothercare and had no problems at all

Rustler74 · 20/04/2017 14:20

Baby shower at work! We do have a lovely team x will catch up later properly but I saw @Northernexile is booked in! Good luck lovely I can't wait to hear how it goes xxx

Ok. I'm still a flat pack ninja! I just blame mothercare for rubbish directions. Two pieces which the instructions said were identical, were not. I had to turn one the opposite way round as the holes were very slightly to one side of the centre.

Due to someone's recommendation earlier I'm watching OBEM. I may have to get my DH to watch this one so he can see what NOT to do - that Lithuanian/Latvian or wherever he was from chap was doing everything I would hate my DH to do.

MissMooMoo · 20/04/2017 14:32

Woke up at 4am this morning with a painful contraction, had 3 in about 30 minutes and they tailed off.
Also having a lot of thick yellowy coloured discharge (sorry if TMI) is this the beginning of my plug? 36+1 today

peasandquiet · 20/04/2017 14:42

Reflexology was wonderful. Incredibly relaxing and hopefully it will ease the pain overnight. Going back next week too. Yes essentially a foot massage yellow !!

lullaby23 · 20/04/2017 14:50

Exciting northern hope it all goes well for you tomorrow! Well done on venturing out tea Smile

newbieho · 20/04/2017 15:17

Nice gift @Rustler74 - looks lovely!

Northernexile · 20/04/2017 15:22

Thanks everyone! Can't wait to meet him/her now. DD1 is hoping for a boy, mainly I think because DD2 is 2.5 and drives her nuts!
Reflexology sounds lovely peas! That's lovely of your colleagues Rustler. Glad you got the flat pack figured out barnes- I tend to just lose my patience and get DH to do things like that, he's an engineer and likes nothing better than constructing fiendishly complicated pieces of furniture. Not sure whether that's plug missmoomoo, three pregnancies in and I've never encountered one yet. Glad the pain eased off though. Do you have a mw appointment soon that you can mention it at?

beanturnipandspud · 20/04/2017 15:27

Sat waiting for routine midwife apt so thought I would catch up.

@Autumnsweater yes one drop neat on to the pad. I also bathed from day 1 with 5-6drops mixed with a spoonful of milk in a bath. Helps the oil disperse. I also bathed with baby in my lavender baths for skin to skin once they were around 5-6days old. Didn't want them to be bathed before then.

@Badgerbird thank you 😊 yes I can feel the BH but they're not painful, they are slightly uncomfortable and feel strange but they don't hurt.

@Brightsmoke Hope you're feeling better today.

The group strep b, I was on the same page as @savagehk and have actually declined to be tested.

@EsmesBees I have never smelt it and daren't smell it yet as I am only just 35 weeks and don't want an early baby.

@1004Rise I have a wedding 2 weeks on Saturday, I am bridesmaid and I will be 37+2! I am not particularly looking forward to it. And feel guilty because I should be so excited for the bride etc, but I am just not feeling it right now 😪

@Barnes79 high 5 🙋🏼 for being a flatpack ninja

@MissMooMoo my plugs with bean & Turnip where more clear/ snot like with some blood thrown it for good measure. No smell to it either. There was some in knickers and some on wiping. With bean I lost plug 5 days before he actually arrived, with Turnip I lost hers 1 day before. If you're worried give triage a call.

@Northernexile hope you're feeling ok. I'm thinking of you and very excited for you. Looking forward to the announcement tomorrow.

Just got out of mw apt, and my homebirth assessment visit has been booked for 2nd May 😳 it is all starting to feel very very real. I am beginning to feel anxious, nervous and excited.

2-7 weeks to go .... need to finish work, pack house up, be a bridesmaid, move house, have us a baby 👶🏼 enjoy maternity leave and time with my babies 👦🏼👧🏼👶🏼

Barnes79 · 20/04/2017 15:33

Okay. I've decided a new word is needed "flangry" - as in angry due to flat pack! 😡 Solve one issue and then another rears its ugly head - the top drawer won't fit! And there's no way this could be my fault as the runners were already attached. Will get DH to adjust one runner down a couple of mm when he gets home. It's just so frustrating. Do mothercare not know better than to anger a pregnant lady???

EsmesBees · 20/04/2017 15:34

So exciting northern. Another thread baby!

MissMoo there was a (rather grim) thread recently about plugs and what they looked like. Maybe have a Google. Mine was very obvious but I was in labour at the time.

Bean lots to do! Don't worry- it will all get done, it always does (she says soothingly while looking at all the moving boxes in her hallway).

MissMooMoo · 20/04/2017 15:37

Just caught up. How exciting Northern! Hope all goes well.
I am seeing the midwife on Sat at 9am so will ask her then.

bean its been clear and snotty for 2 days now, yellow only started today. No blood at all.

barnes I HATE flatpack

EsmesBees · 20/04/2017 15:37

Barnes so impressed you are assembling furniture!

Tea first trip to the shops should count as a major achievement. Is it a new sling? They do sometimes rather swamp newborns.

WishIWasSleeping · 20/04/2017 15:38

Wow. Mammoth catch up was required. I feel like I've missed so much, and I couldn't possibly respond to everyone because I'm rubbish - so - hugs all around, woohoos for the close expectancies, and tea and cake for everyone else just bearing up!
Just had an appt with consultant, and although they aren't bringing my due date forward or any further tests, I'm booked for an induction on my due date so as not to go over. She helpfully told me that sperm softens and prepares the way for baby to come out on the run up to labour, and if you can't manage the sexy time then have a play with the nipples for a similar effect!
I'm 37w today, so initially a little disappointed that baby is going to be another 3 weeks as the pelvic pain / sciatica is hard going.
Only next week left at work though which is a bonus. I am jealous of all you already on leave.
I know a couple have mentioned, I also haven't heard or seen @nursebickypegs since early on the last thread I think. I think she was requesting into the fb group but not sure she made it. Hope she's relaxing somewhere lovely! x

yellowismyfavourite · 20/04/2017 15:46

@Northernexile good luck and look forward to hearing about your new arrival! rustler your colleagues look as lovely as mine were glad you and baby are being spoiled. barnes sympathy for the flat pack building... I don't know if it's just me but I have never been able to do one without having to adapt instructions... and I have a bad habit of getting pieces upside down!

1004Rise · 20/04/2017 18:16

@Northernexile oooo exciting looking forward to your updates on baby Nothern tomorrow! My DH is an engineer too but has the opposite response to flat pack, he hates it with a passion usually because he says there is a better way to do it than the instructions! As a result when we did our kitchen I built all the units but he had to level them, my head doesn't work in 3D! High five for being flat pack ninja @Barnes79 the ability to find a problem is proof of your power!

@teainbed well done for your trip to the shops! You sound remarkably calm which gives me hope!

@beanturnipandspud not too much to do then! I feel for you being a bridesmaid at least I can attempt to hide at the back. I know what you mean about not really feeling it, normally I'd be spending this afternoon painting my nails working out my hair etc while for once in my life my nails are awesome and I can't be bothered to do anything with them, my hair is getting a couple of Kirby grips and about 10 minutes of ghds. I'll be lucky if I managed all my makeup, I want to be excited for them but I'm just trying not to think how long the day is!!

I think I'm also a bit nervous, I'm definitely an introvert and the fact that you're pregnant seems to make you public property which means I actually have to speak to people!

@Rustler74 beautiful gift! Nice to be spoiled!!

Sort of feels like I've already stopped work because I'm on holiday this week, feels odd that I have to go back for my last 5 days next week but I'm sure (hope) they will fly!

Autumnsweater · 20/04/2017 18:17

@northernexile good luck and exciting!!

@beanturnipandspud thanks for the lavender tips, look forward to putting it to good use!

@rasperry they had no record of my consultant appt and no consultant available 🙄 so I have an appointment tomorrow, will keep you posted. If they do talk about induction I think I will refuse tbh.

Ultrasound scan went fine, baby at 50th centile which figures out at 5lb 7oz currently at just under 36 weeks. All on track to have a normal average birth Grin when the time is right Grin.

Tickyboovicki · 20/04/2017 18:30

northern very excited for another baby update, hoops all goes brilliantly tomorrow 😊

tea huge congrats on getting out! My main worry if not feeling brace enough to get out alone so if I managed that already I'd be feeling super proud right now!

Bit of a weird day today, other half went back to work after 2 1/2 weeks off working on his dissertation, house felt very quiet on my own!

Also never again will I love house when heavily pregnant, it is unbelievably the most stressful thing! And the people moving into ours are being so pushy as to suggest we move out now with nowhere to go to! She is also pregnant but due very end of may, whereas I am due 2nd may so they might see a very angry pregnant lady if they don't chill out! For the record the place we are moving to is tenanted, and the solicitors won't exchange until they are out which they knew from the beginning 😡😡😡

Arghh what I wouldn't give for a disarronno & coke/pimms tonight!

MrsJW15 · 20/04/2017 18:49

Good luck Northern!

Bean I don't blame you on the wedding. That doesn't sound fun to me! Rise, I know what you mean about having to speak to people. We are going to a party on Saturday night and a lot of my parents' friends will be there. I know they'll all want to be very excited and chatty and touch my bump etc, and I just can't think of anything worse! I'm hoping to find a corner and hide in it and make an early escape.

Barnes my dad was definitely flangry at the weekend!

Baby feels like it's trying to get its head a bit further down today. Quite uncomfortable at times! Then it seems to bob up again and have a massive wriggle in my ribs. Fun fun.

I have a voucher for Mamas and Papas and really want to buy their nice loungewear for after the baby comes. But it's all sold out online and I need to go to a store to get it. What a hassle!

Sipperskipper · 20/04/2017 19:01

So excited for you northern - wishing you all the best for tomorrow!

EsmesBees · 20/04/2017 19:31

Rise as a fellow introvert my tip is that usually people love any opportunity to talk about their own kids. So just pick a topic (schools are a good one, or sleep) and ask them about their experiences, and then let them chatter on.

Ticky the cheek of your buyers! You'd think they'd understand being pregnant too.
