Due to recent sad news and at the suggestion of others, I have started this new thread. Let's hear everyone's news.......

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
EdieMcredie · 06/04/2007 11:51

Sorry for those with the anti D worries. Im O positive I think.

Seem to have woken up feeling less upset than yesterday although feel really light headed. Anyone else getting this?

Also very constipated!

I have my linea nigra from my belly button downwards but nothing from BB upwards as yet.

Love to all xxxxxxxx

auschick · 06/04/2007 14:00

Lightheadedness is fairly common Edie - especially in the 2nd trimester. Keep up your fluids and calories. Fluids especially as we all have a bit more blood volume to pump around now - not to mention relaxing blood vessels due to hormones.

I feel for you worrying about your scan. Pregnancy gives you so much to worry about, doesn't it. The odds are overwhelmingly in your facour that everything will be fine (as I try and convince myself daily!!)

I, on the other hand, have just spent 3 hours searching the house for my keys...just found them in the bottom of the rubbish bin courtesy of my 14 month old - bless him . See what you have to look forward to!!!

diddle · 06/04/2007 14:23

hello hello hello

Can i join you ladies. I am due on the 28th September, hopefully won't go into October. my first child was 2 weeks late so fingers crossed for this one being on time.

I have one little boy 9 months old. 26 years old.

Haven't had a chance to read all about you all so will catch up now.

I am 15 weeks exactly today.

I'm sorry but I can't resist in saying "hey, diddle". I won't continue as the song is already going around in my head. What a brilliant name and welcome!

On my medical (rhesus negative card) thingy, it says 'no antibodies found' is that a good thing or not, does anybody know?

As far as keys auschick, I remember doing the same when my DS was a toddler only we found the keys at the back of the fridge - bless him!

Were we talking about pushing as if having a poo on here recently or was it another thread? Anyway, I've come up with a theory - having had a touch of constipation lately, it occurred to me that perhaps that's the bodies way of preparing those muscles ready for labour? I'm sure its quite common to get constipation in pg (I know it is for me!) but it amazes me how it could all be for a reason! (sits pondering...!)

I'm pleased to say that I weighed myself today and although I seem to be getting very fat, I haven't put any weight on at all. Should I be so pleased!? I'm a big girl but I've been eating really healthily...

Apart from that, I'm having an emotional day - I keep crying for no apparent reason. Usually I'd be concerned or anxious about it but I've come to accept it as a part of the whole pg thing and I'm almost enjoying the wallowing because its all going to be worth it in the end!

xx

diddle · 06/04/2007 14:57

PLP - now i've got the song going round me head!

Thank you for your welcome. How many weeks are you now? I had a few emotional days a couple of weeks ago, they come and go.
At least we can blame it on our hormones.

sorry don't know much about antibodies.

sophus · 06/04/2007 16:49

i am rhesus negative and have also been given a card to carry around, and a sticker for my records. I had a missed mc (in fact missed pregnancy) about 20 years ago, so even though this is my "first" i have same issues as if it were a second pregnancy. i am doing whatever they recommend as TBH the blood products issue hadn't occurred to me (dense person that i am).
Partner just came back from US armed to teeth with baby gap and maternity gap bags. What a star, chose it all himself and apparently girls in Gap were all over him for being such a thoughtful guy (oh if only they knew). But i am now ultra nesting as want cute space to put v.v. cute clothes.
Enjoy the beautiful weather for the weekend, we're off to the seaside to see in-laws for Easter.
xx

canadianmum · 06/04/2007 17:20

Welcome diddle, lovely to have a new September mum-to-be....

Is anyone else on this thread going for a VBAC (vaginal birth after c-section)? I was told I had a 60% chance but was wondering what others have been told if they are in a similar position? I really want a VB this time, the recovery is so much quicker and I want to be on my feet as soon as pos. I am also weirdly curious about what the whole labour thing is like.....

Anyone else look 2 months gone in the morning and then about 7 months gone in the evening? - weird .

OP posts:
auschick · 06/04/2007 17:49

PLP - no antibodies is a good thing.

Canadianmum - I'm going for a VBAC. Have been told by my obs I have a 50 / 50 chance or less. I'm still deciding whether it's worth the risks of rupture but I'd like to give it a go. Last cs was for "failure to progress" after being induced at 38 weeks (due to factor V leiden thrombophilia). My obs is happy to let me go past 38 weeks this time if I want to try VBAC but said I'll more than likely end up with another caesarean. Felt like a bit of a failure last time (even though my rational side of my brain knows better) - so would really like a VBAC.

EdieMcredie · 06/04/2007 18:06

Is anybody feeling movement? My baby is moving so much that sometimes it hurts, like mild period pain. It feels like it is doing somersaults and while I love it, sometimes it's not very comfortable!

diddle · 06/04/2007 19:17

I'm going for a vbac.

I also had one last time for failure to progress. I was induced at 40 weeks, and two pessary's later and i'd had contractions, but i wasn't dilating. so after two sleepless nights and being in agony i chose to have a c-section, rather than risk needing an emergency one due to be being knackered.

I too felt totally cheated out or my natural birth, Plus the recovery was long and this time i will have a 15 month old to look fter so the last thing i need will be to be immobile. Fingers crossed
I've got to see a consultant this time, who apparently very pro c-sections, so hopefully i'll stand my ground and go for what i want.

edi - how far along are you now? I'm feeling little movements, but i'm only 14 wks

EdieMcredie · 06/04/2007 20:02

Im 17 weeks. Feel like a bag of water at the moment!!

Started to feel movements at 14 weeks but this is apparently early.

Hi and welcome all newcomers,
It's been a while since I last posted but have been keeping updated. I'm 17+4 weeks at the moment and really looking forward to my 20 week scan in a few weeks. I'm feeling the baby move occasionally now and I'm certainly bigger than I was at this stage last time round. I'm sure it's all a chocolate bump though

NH101 - so pleased you popped back. Your positive outlook is amazing. I wish you all the best for June. Do pop back regularly and tell us how you are.

EdieMcredie - I've also been feeling lightheaded but it seems to go away if I eat or drink

Re: Rhesus -ve - me too and I've also got a card to carry! There seem to be quite a few of us. I did have the anti-D last time at about 28 weeks and after birth and I'll have it again this time. Purple - I also have no antibodies. I think it means there aren't any stray rhesus +ve blood cells hanging around (your body would develop antibodies against them).

Canandianmum - I'm also going for a VBAC. I've been told I have a 70 - 80% chance if my baby isn't too big (DD was 10lb 3 1/2 oz) and if positioning is optimal (DD was back to back and got into all sorts of strange positions trying to come out). I've been told they'll let me go overdue and won't induce. I got the impression they'd still prefer to book me in for elective though.

Hope everyone has a great easter weekend. More chocolate - yum!!!

EdieMcredie · 06/04/2007 20:57

That's ok Fio! I have found that just recently typing is harder and I will put the letters in the wrong places and then have to go back and correct afterwards!

auschick · 07/04/2007 10:37

Canadianmum - what were you told of the risks of VBAC? Is it being encouraged for you? My obs doesn't actually say a lot until he's questioned pretty hard...just wondering what other people are told and if they are encouraged or made to feel like they should have another c/s in preference.

EdieMcredie · 07/04/2007 11:20

Got my TST results back as 1:1700 for downs and spina bifida so im relieved.

Feeling very very big today!!

canadianmum · 07/04/2007 13:49

Hi auschick, I haven't spoken to an OB about VBAC yet, just the midwife. She said that I will have to have a "trial of scar" or something like that to make sure the scar is strong enough to handle labour or something. But she also said the hospital has a 60% VBAC rate which I think is pretty good. When I do see a consultant I am planning to be pretty strong about my preferences. I have been reading some other threads about VBAC and it seems you need to be quite tough sometimes with your consultant about it.

Just remember that they need your consent to induce or do a c-section (or even to do a vaginal exam) so I plan to keep mentioning that if they try to turn me off the VBAC for some pathetic reason . Picture me running down the hospital corridor screaming "You do not have my consent !!!!"

OP posts:
diddle · 07/04/2007 15:29

Fio - yes my mom does have a shop, i think she was just setting it up when we spoke before. Its in Bewdley and doing very well.

Well you've all got me into a strong frame of mind about having a vbac and standing my ground. My midwife was quite happy for me to try for one, but the consultant is supposed to be very against it. we shall see. i don't see him until i'm 21 weeks, so plenty of time to psych myself up.

I'm having one of those days where i just want to do nothing, and we have so much to get done before baby 2 arrives. Think i need a lazy day.
Off to the Zoo tomorrow, looking forward to that.
what have you all got planned for the easter hols?

MrsMar · 07/04/2007 17:53

Hello all. I hope everyone's enjoying the lovely weather.

Congrats on the blood test results Edie!

As I'm taking part in a pre-eclampsia study (because it's my first, not because of previous pre-eclampsia experience) I had my bloods done at the hospital when I went in for my first screening, but I'm not sure they were testing for anything to do with the baby, more like testing me. I know they did HIV and Hep tests and a couple of others. I got an email from the doc saying they were all normal. I've got an appointment with the midwife on the 18th so I must ask about other results. I've always wanted to know my blood type. I'm sure I'll be something very unexciting like O pos! Not that that's a bad thing, does help if you ever need a blood transfusion.

I haven't really felt what I'm sure are movements yet, but I've felt the odd vibration. I think it's too near the front of my belly to be wind iyswim. I did smile at your bag of water reference Edie, my dh swerved up the ramp in to the supermarket car park today (Starsky and Hutch style - they never grow up do they?) and I felt a real sloshing sensation! I felt like a full hotwater bottle!

I hope everyone has a lovely Easter, I'm soooo looking forward to my first chocolate tomorrow, haven't had it since ash weds!!! I'll probably make myself sick with easter eggs, but it'll be worth it!

Take care everyone xx

EdieMcredie · 07/04/2007 18:21

MrsMar
Yes sometimes it feels really wierd, and can sometimes give me period like pains (only very mild).

Im boring ole O positive

Im bored waiting for DP to finish work...(we need a bored emoticon)

FilBrit · 08/04/2007 18:52

Happy Easter everyone, hope you're all enjoying the chocolate.

I'm 18 weeks today and am now feeling movements all the time, which is so lovely. Is everyone else started to feel their babies dancing too?

Although EdieM and MrsMar I haven't felt any water sloshing about yet, I think I would find that a bit weird!

LoopyLouLisa · 08/04/2007 23:45

Hi all,

hope you are all enjoying the fabulous weather. I know we will be praying for cool days in the summer when we are heavily pregnant.

On the VBAC subject, I have chosen to have an elective cs after an emergency one with ds. My consultant was absolutley pro-VBAC even though he was my consultant last time too, and actually on duty during my labour and made the decision that I needed the cs. The thing I felt most cheated by last time was going through almost full labour (I was fully dilated for 9 hours and ds's oxygen levels and heartbeat had dropped dangerously low) only for it to end the way it did. I have thought long and hard and I think I would be too traumatised for this to happen again, that the only way to avoid it is to have an elective. I already know that my scar is weak as I was still receiving medical treatment for it when ds was 4 and a half months old, so also the risk of rupturing would be high.

I suffered from post-natal depression and I had to stop taking my medication as it may be unsafe for the baby, and I'm finding it really hard to cope with the mood swings of pregnancy as well as being off my med. Has anyone else had to come off? I'm sure my moods last pg weren't anywhere near this bad.

On a happier note I have had a really great weekend so far spending time with my family and getting lots of fresh air. Must be good for LO

xx
