Due to recent sad news and at the suggestion of others, I have started this new thread. Let's hear everyone's news.......

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Hopeitwontbebig · 03/04/2007 19:17

Toadstall, I don't know the reason why guidelines say that it has to English goats cheese, maybe they think that goats cheese abroad is more likely to be unpasteurised?? I have no idea.

PurpleLostPrincess · 03/04/2007 20:24

Well, I'm sticking to Ben & Jerry's from now on, thats for sure! HIWBB - Irish and blonde - we should start up a club - yay! Glad to be of help and thank you for encouraging me

When I was having DS, I did (tmi warning) actually end up having a poo whilst pushing but I had an epidural and he was stuck so does that count? (either way it was reeeeeaallly embarassing!) When I was having DD, I didn't have an epidural and had this amazing urge that I was going to wet myself and have since been told that is the urge to push...

FlossALump · 04/04/2007 08:01

I recently dreamt that DP brought the baby home from the hospital, I had nothing to do with the birth. However, my DS was about 6ft a black man (DP and I are both white) and was covered in blue paint, which DP explained was treatment for the jaundice. He walked out of the car, gave me a hug and said, 'hello mum' and went and sat on the sofa...

last night I think I was dreaming of M and S food...

lou031205 · 04/04/2007 09:03

HI

I can vouch for the poo thing! I was told I wasn't in labour by my night shift midwives, and felt like I needed a poo from about 06.30. Several unsuccessful trips to the bathroom later, my day shift midwie came on.

She examined me(others had refused 'cos waters had broken and they thought I wasn't in labour) at 08.05 - Poo sensation was because I was fully dilated and needed to push baby out!

So my top tip is that if you think you need a poo, insist on an examination, and don't take no for an answer.

I thought I was headed for a section, 'cos I was in pain and not in labour!!

emalushka · 04/04/2007 09:24

Hello,

I'm bursting with pride. I had my first scan yesterday at 17 weeks and saw my beautiful little baba. It was so lovely and special and wonderful. I was really worried the midwife would say 'I think there's been a mistake,' as I haven't got a bump and haven't had any symptoms, apart from bigger boobs. But there was actually a baby in there!

It was fast asleep (takes after both of us!) but woke up whilst we were looking at it and started to wriggle. It was truly amazing.

As for food to avoid - I've been very lazy and haven't avoided anything. I think you can be too careful and if you really fancy something, why deny yourself it? My mum keeps telling me she has had 6 very healthy children and carried on eating and drinking just as normal. Obviously, I'm not getting drunk every night and polishing off mountains of blue cheese, but just now and again. But, I totally understand that it is my choice and everyone has their own views on it. I do think expectant mothers can get slightly neurotic sometimes about food. (!!!sorry!!!)

Hopeitwontbebig · 04/04/2007 13:35

Hello all, how is everyone today?

Emalushka, congrats on your scan, it's such an amazing experience isn't it. Great to get that reassurance especially as you say you've not been having many symptoms. You watch that bump grow now!!

Flossalump - PMSL at your dream.... how bizarre is that, very funny. We do have some weird dreams now don't we!

I'm off to cinema with boys later to see um what's it called ... 'last Mimsy' or something, they wanted to see the Turtles, but luckily they changed their minds. Gonna sneak a load of sweets in, I NEVER buy sweets at the cinema, what a rip off. One day I'll get caught... ooh the shame!

I bought a lovely tunic top from Pumpkin Patch this morning, comes down to mid thigh length, really nice. Need this sort of length because I'm getting a fat bum!!!

TeeCee · 04/04/2007 13:45

Hi all

Feeling great, getting big. Am 15 weeks this week, still fighting for a definite homebirth rather than we'll see how many midwives we have on the night type home birth and you might have to go in. Wrote a letter to about 12 people today including Patricia Hewitt! Watch this space!

Have a midwife appt at 17 weeks and my 20 week scan at 21 weeks on 15 May. Can't wait to see him or her again.

Love to all, xx

emalushka · 04/04/2007 13:56

Hello,

TeeCee, lovely to hear from you. I'm really pleased to hear about Lottie walking. That's brilliant. I was moved by the science museum story.

I hope there will be lots more achievements to celebrate over the next years. I'm sure there will be. I hope I don't sound patronising, but I find your family views and outlook very inspiring. Thanks.

MMooMar · 04/04/2007 14:12

Hi All
What a beautiful sunny day!
Hope everyone is hunky dory today.

Had the midwife come this morning, told her about these palpatation things and apparently you can get them in your second trimester too not just the third.Checked my blood pressure and that was fine anyway so worry over.

Said I was growing a nice bump and managed to just about find a tiny faint HB behind the placenta so at least I have managed to hear it(sigh of relief... first time with this LO).

Got all my dates for everything up until mid May.Got my amnio next Friday(13th!!!).Got my 20 wk scan and consultant appointment together on 30th of this month,Then got just a AN appointment with the midwife on 17th of May...phew! Will be 23 wks by then. Now I will notice the time going as I keep check of appointments etc on the calendar.

Going to hang the washing out now...trying really hard not to use the tumble dryer all the time.

xxxxxxx

MrsMar · 04/04/2007 14:30

Hello all, back at work after my lovely holiday and I'm missing all the sunshine, grrr! I hope everyone else is able to get out and enjoy it!

I'm 16 weeks today, can I officially call myself four months pregnant? It does mean I can get away with my kebab belly a bit more!! hehehe!

Emalushka - congrats on the scan. It's such a lovely experience isn't it? Soooo sweet your little babba was asleep, bless!

I've had a few weird palpitations, actually from pretty early on, around 7 weeks. It's not so much heart racing as an extra loud thud, like an extra heartbeat. I went to my gp and he listened to my heart and said it was all fine, no heart murmer or anything. I guess anything like that is more to do with all the extra blood we're pumping.

I've had so many crazy dreams it's not true, although in the past couple of weeks they've been getting a wee bit better. I guess I still dream but don't remember them or wake up completely baffled by them! And I'm only going to the loo 3 times a night now, what a breakthrough!!!

As regards the poo thing, my BIL never fails to mention how my sister did one on his shoes when she was having her first. I guess it must be the same muscles, my friend who's a nurse always said when she was pg with her first, that every time she needed to do a number 2 she always gave an extra hard push to train her muscles. Her first was born in 4 hours from first twinge to last push, so there must be something in it!!

Canadianmum - can I ask you a question please? You had your booking in appointment at the balham health centre on the same day as me, were you given your maternity notes or just the bounty pack? The reason I ask is that I wasn't given my notes, which I'm not sure is normal or not, but I've totally forgotten when I'm supposed to make my next appointment. I know I have to see the gp next as part of the shared care scheme, but I can't remember if that's before or after my 20 week scan (already booked for 17th May, when I'll actually be 22 weeks). I guess its the hormones making me really forgetful, but I always thought I had to see somone around 16 weeks, which is today.

I hope everyone's having a lovely day, take care xxx

Holly29 · 04/04/2007 14:52

Hello my lovelies
Today's my last day before I go off for easter, so have a lovely few days everyone!

I just wanted to say, isn't it WEIRD that there is a 'due in December' thread? Makes me feel quite grown up!

Rin23 · 04/04/2007 15:55

Hello
Just wanted to add myself to your list if you don't object - hope I've done it right. I've been reading your thread & very much enjoying it, it's been really reassuring at times (I think I'm normal, so far). It's my first time and I've just stopped feeling sick and knackered (which worried me initially), but it was convenient as I moved house at the weekend (from which I'm still recovering).
Anyway, thanks for all your chats, it's been great reading so far.

Welcome Rin231

Fantastic...This list is still getting longer, cant believe how many babies will be born just on this Due Sept thread.
Wonder how many will be born from January to December just to Mumsnet members...hmm..?

Canadianmum and Mrsmar,I am glad I am not the only one with the palps....sorry, not a nice thing to say but I mean in the way that as least it`s normal!

Holly29,Yes! I noticed that thread too....My god...LO`s will be coming up to 3 months old by then...yikes!

Got to just add that the midwife never asked to see anything,so I still dont know why they visit at home.

EdieMcredie · 04/04/2007 16:23

MrsMar

It's normal to be seen at 16 weeks for triple testing.

Welcome Rin23!! We are a freindly bunch and glad you have enjoyed our conversations!

Since yesterday I have had an ache all over my stomach, it doesn't feel baby related but like trapped wind. However in the past couple of hours it feels like ovulation pain! If im still having pains tomorrow I may ring m/w or someone although not worried as it feels unreated to pg and I can also still feel baby moving.

MMooMar · 04/04/2007 16:27

Mrsmar ,just got to add that I really dont blame your BIL for going on about the poo on his shoes...thats a total classic .

But gives you something else to worry about though does`nt it ...lol.

nh101 · 04/04/2007 17:35

Hi guys, just wanted to check in to see how you are all doing. Remember me? I had a missed MC two weeks ago at 13 weeks and haven't felt up to revisiting this thread since then.

But I am feeling much better now and it is so lovely to hear all your stories about getting bigger, seeing your LOs on scans and feeling your babies move.

I am not feeling up to getting PG again yet (it seems disloyal to the baby I lost somehow), we are going to wait until June to start trying again, and in the meantime I have two holidays and lots of drunken parties coming up!

I am off now to drink copious amounts of wine, eat soft cheese and it's such a nice day I think I'll have a Mr Whippy ice cream

Good luck to everyone and I'll be thinking of you in September - it seems so close now!

Holly29 · 04/04/2007 17:59

nh,

It is SO nice of you to come back and say hello, and we are thinking of you. Good on you for taking a wee bit of time to yourself and for planning lots of fun things! take care and come back to tell us when you are pg again!

lots of love

Holly. xx

MrsMar · 04/04/2007 18:57

Hi NH, it is good of you to come and say hello. Have fun this summer, and don't be a stranger!

MMooMar - my mum said that they used to give them enemas to stop them pooing when giving birth, but they've stopped that now. I'm not sure why, I've always been a little tempted to have colonic irrigation, but perhaps an enema isn't so great. My mum shudders at the thought of hers!

Edie - thanks for the advice about triple testing. Is that something that's routine or is it something that's done if you are at high risk of anything? I had assumed it was something that was carried out as part of testing for downs etc. I had a pretty good nuchal score so I decided to not have any more tests, so does that mean I won't have to see anyone at 16 weeks? I haven't got any numbers with me, but I might give the midwives a call tomorrow and ask.

It is crazy there's a due in December thread isn't it? Everyone said that time would pass really slowly when I was pregnant, but it feels like it's flown by. I can't believe its 4 weeks since my scan! Feels like yesterday!

Have a good evening everyone xx

sophus · 04/04/2007 19:13

Hi Nh
please have a large glass of chilled wine and some gooey brie and stinky stilton on all of us - you deserve it - and more besides.
xx

canadianmum · 04/04/2007 19:43

nh - thanks for your visit, it is fantastic that you have such a positive attitude, and please have a really big smelly goat's cheese and bottle of red wine for me!

mrsmar - I was just given the bounty pack, the midwife told me that I would get my notes at the next appt which was meant to be the 24th of april (would be 19+3 for me) but I changed it to the following week to avoid inflicting my hell-raising 4 year olds on a waiting room full of pregnant women . Were you given the appt. card? That had my appt. on it. I believe you can see the yellow team on Tues mornings at BHC or Wed afternoons at Bolingbroke hospital. I sort of thought they would not bother doing the triple test if I had the nuchal, but I didn't actually ask. I have decided against any further tests and will have my next scan (privately) at 22 weeks. I hope that helps .

If any first timers want some practice looking after 4 year olds, please let me know - these holidays are wearing me out .

OP posts:
TeeCee · 04/04/2007 22:07

Emalushka - thanks for that post, that was really nice of you

nh101 - lovely to 'see' you! Glad you are feeling a little better. Enjoy those parties and drink for England, or at least for all us lot. Good luck for June and let us know how you get on aye, I expect some good news by the end of July

PurpleLostPrincess · 04/04/2007 23:30

Hi nh101, of course we remember you! I hope you don't mind me saying but you're so brave to come back and say hello, I know I wouldn't have felt up to it after my mc. Enjoy your parties and have a drink on us!

I had palpitations in my last pg (m/c last Oct) but it turned out it was due to the fact that I had been on antidepressants prior to getting pg and apparently it was a side effect. (I don't think it had anything to do with the m/c at all by the way). I just thought I'd reassure you that they monitored me and sent me home saying all was fine. I've since heard its quite a normal thing to have with all the changes going on in the body etc...

I was very pleased with myself this morning - I remembered I had a pair of purple combats at the back of the wardrobe that were far too big for me. I had brought the wrong size a few years ago and I hid them so I wouldn't be tempted to put on enough weight for them to fit. Well, my pride went down like a lead balloon when I tried them on - they're quite snug and won't last me very long!!! In case you're guessing, yes - most of my clothes are purple lol! I've decided I'm going to have to buy some maternity clothes rather than just look at them! (if you see anything purple, give me a shout!)

FlossALump · 05/04/2007 08:33

Nh101 - really lovely to hear from you. Your summer sounds lovely, your attitude is great and I wish you all the luck in the world.

The weather looks like it is going to be lovely dosen't it? I've had another week off (got to january and found I had over 100 hrs worth of annual leave to take before next week!) so feeling nicely chilled although already not looking forward to Monday and going back to work. The hospital seems to have the norwalk virus and six wards are closed. Don't know if ours is one as yet, but not exactly something to look forward to!

Hope everyone has a lovely easter weekend.

Hello everyone, I hope you're all feeling well and are planning to gorge on choccy eggs over the weekend? I was wondering if any of you have felt your little Bumps move yet? I haven't, and am really missing the sensation.. No Bump news with me I'm afraid, I was in hospital all week with DS who had a fever. Thank God he is ok now, running around like nothing happened, but it's really worrying. I'd also forgotten how dull the hospital food is.. I'm going to get DH to order in when I'm there in September. You can do that, can't you? God I hope so..
Are any of you wanting to know the sex, or leaving it as a surprise? What's the consensus on that?
