Hello all, I've been away in Switzerland skiing for the past week, so been trying to catch up on all the news. I'm glad everyone's well, and welcome to the newbies.
I'm feeling a bit guilty as I seem to be really lucky, I haven't had any headaches to speak of, or any hormonal tears or bad tempers. Morning sickness has totally gone too, bar a couple of surges of nausea last week. Mustn't speak too soon, but fingers crossed. Sorry for the others with headaches, ms and hormonal craziness, I hope everything all settles down soon.
I still have the odd irrational moment about the baby. Trying not to worry about the 20 week scan (why do they give them such horrible names like anomoly scans?) I can't really feel the baby yet, have had a few fizzes which my mum says are wind, but they're too near the front of my tummy to be wind, so I think it might be the baby, but they only happen maybe once a day and only if I really concentrate. I don't really have a noticeable bump, just fat, although if I do pull my tummy taut you can see a bulge. My boobs are still huge and I've got nipples like fighter pilots thumbs (as my bil delightfully referred to my sisters when she was pg, quite appropriate though!) so I guess everything's still all there.
I have had some strange muscle like pains, not cramps but sharper, muscular pains. I guess that's everything stretching.
I'm glad everything turned out ok re the spotting laksa, I do feel fortunate to have not had anything like that, it must be such a worry.
My only food cravings (apart from a week of orange craziness at 9 week - 4 a day!!!) is for salt and vinegar crisps. Isn't it wierd quite a few of us seem to have that one. Dh nearly puked the other day when I ate a whole jar of pickled onions in the car on the way back from the supermarket, but I've always loved them.
I'm feeling pretty fat now, I've put on a total of 9lbs since conception. I'm still not in maternity clothes but might have to relent soon, I'm down to about three pairs of trousers I can wear now, and I have to undo the top button of all of them when I sit down!
I did have a really piggy week last week though so I'm not surprised. I decided that being on holiday was a great excuse to eat loads of fatty food, so hard to resist all that chocolate and fondue in Switzerland, and I figured as I was skiing I deserved a bit more food! hehehe!
The skiing itself was great, we had the best week of the season in Verbier, brilliant sunshine and lots of snow. I was very sensible, we weren't on the slopes until 10am most days, had a drink at 11.30, lunch around 1 and then finished skiing around 3pm. I avoided all blacks, and although I felt tired occasionally, and needed a nap most afternoons, I felt pretty good. I kept telling myself all that mountain air and exercise was good for the baby!
On the subject of cheese (a long time ago I know) I've not really craved it, but last week I had a cheese fondue and some baked brie. Both were bubbling hot so I figured it was ok. My mum (who grew up in France) always poo poos the cheese thing, saying all french women eat all cheeses during pregnancy. I've had grilled haloumi this pregnancy too, and so far no ill effects. Its strange because I'm not missing any of the things I can't eat, pate, booze etc. I did allow myself two beers last week, and the rare steaks everyone ate last week looked great, but if it's not in front of me, I'm not that bothered.
Blimey, I've rambled!!! I hope everyone's well and enjoying this lovely sunshine (I hope everyone's got sunshine where they are!) xx
