Due to recent sad news and at the suggestion of others, I have started this new thread. Let's hear everyone's news.......

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Hopeitwontbebig · 27/03/2007 17:54

Oh Nettee, I didn't know you were a midwife!! Hasn't put you off then!!!!

Hopeitwontbebig · 27/03/2007 17:56

What are you guys having for dinner tonight?? I'm SO bored with eating the same things, albeit in a cycle, but bored bored!!

EdieMcredie · 27/03/2007 18:12

Southern fried chicken from butcher, wedges and corn on the cob

Nettee · 27/03/2007 18:16

Being a midwife mostly makes me broody!

I am having chicken fahitas for the first time in weeks - must be feeling better......

Hopeitwontbebig · 27/03/2007 18:31

He he Nettee, all those lovely babies! Chicken Fajitas sounds fab, homemade or ready done. I find the Old El Paso spice mix very h h h hot!!

Edie - Southern fried chicken - mmmmmmmmmmmm!

I'm having Tesco Finest () chicken in a madeira wine sauce with homemade mash.

I love eating I do.

EdieMcredie · 27/03/2007 18:35

Id love to be a midwife, then I could answer all my own questions!! I take it you atill have to see a midwife!!!

Hopeitwontbebig · 27/03/2007 18:38

We're all restraining ourselves from bombarding you with questions Nettee!!!!

canadianmum · 27/03/2007 18:53

Hopeitwontbebig · 27/03/2007 18:57

I LOVE scampi! I am getting so hungry now it's not funny. I'm having a small trajedy in my life, my DH has just phoned to say he is going to be late because he is stuck in traffic, so have to wait even longer for dinner!!!

canadianmum · 27/03/2007 19:01

That is a tragedy!

re: eternity rings, DH bought me one after birth of my two boys (think I should have got 2 ) with my encouragement. I have already hinted that a fancy watch should be on the cards after this one!

I definitely think 9 months of pregnancy plus birth = frivolous present

FlossALump · 27/03/2007 19:25

I got an eternity ring about 4 months after DS was born. Mostly due to four months of nagging! In my defence DP arrived the morning after DS was born at the hospital (he was there for the birth btw!) completely devoid of flowers or balloons etc. Just the car seat!

Tonight we are having fish and chips, or hopefully for me, pie and chips. I was all set to cook carbonara only to find we had almost no pasta . So DP gallantly offered to go out (again). In my defence today I have hoovered, dusted and mopped everywhere, cleaned kitchen and bathroom, done two loads of washing, plus washed sofa covers, and scrubbed our dining room chairs. I have put washing away, done food shopping (minus the pasta obviously) and changed all the beds. I have also made a reward chart for DS to see if a few car stickers will improve his behaviour!

In case you haven't guessed my mum is coming on Thursday and I'm working all day again tomorrow!

I'm missing Pate most of all. Pate and olives are my favourite lunch. Last time I couldn't stand mussels which is one of my favourite foods but this time I'll still happily munch them! I've had camembert once I think, I just didn't fancy anything else! Intersting to know that pastaurised soft cheese is no better. Never mind.

toadstool · 27/03/2007 19:41

Wonderful food . Was going to have a feast (chicken breast stuffed with mozzarella and parma ham, slurp). Then DD started throwing up so now we're going to have grilled chicken and salad, probably on a tray beside bucket and DD's bed.

kinki · 27/03/2007 19:55

Pizza for me tonight! On my lap in front of Eastenders. Being a lazy tart tonight!

I was given an eternity ring after my first ds, and then I was promised another ring after 2nd ds. Not quite materialised yet, but apparently still on the agenda. He even asked me if I wanted another one for this baby. Not sure if we can stretch to a ring-pull at the moment never mind some classy gold, but I can wait!

Bon appetite!

laksa · 27/03/2007 19:57

we are having roast beef n yorkshire puddings and its taking ages to cook! Don't really feel like it but bought loads of stuff for the freezer yesterday and none of it would fit unless I defrosted the beef...I am more in the mood for thai beef salad which I will make tomorrow with the leftovers

Hope everyone enjoys their supper

PurpleLostPrincess · 27/03/2007 20:12

We've just enjoyed Pizza Hut - yummy yummy! It's the most I've eaten in ages and I'm now dreading getting heartburn later but it's all worth it!

So, are we allowed cod (& chips) just out of interest - I know to only have tuna once a week but wasn't sure on the cod? I'm not bothered about soft cheeses as I don't eat them - we love Cathedral City in our house and the softest cheese I eat is cheese triangles lol!

Nicki10, I have the same thing - just this morning I was feeling my tummy and had to stop myself from getting worried as my bump seemed to have gone down considerably. But, I'm sitting here with a definite bump (or is that pizza!?)...

A (well meaning) lady patted me on the tummy this afternoon at work and said 'awwww, baby' but she was referring to my upper flab (middle belly, just below my boobs!!!!!) I pointed out that baby is much lower down - how embarassing!!!!!

Enjoy your food

kinki · 27/03/2007 20:19

Oh no, PLP, what's this about tuna? I've been having a serious craving for tuna, had to go out and get some today for a tuna sandwich at lunchtime. How can I not know to avoid tuna? This is my 3rd pregnancy fgs. I'm so dim. Break it to me gently, how much if any can I have, and what damage does it do? Oh bu**er, how did I miss that one. I enjoyed my pizza tonight though.

JemimaPuddleduck07 · 27/03/2007 20:55

Kinki, I think I remember the midwife telling me not to have tuna more than once or twice a week. It's the only fish I eat so I am finding it really difficult.

My MS has just about gone, apart from late at night and that's so much more bearable. I am usually a really healthy eater but all i have craved for the last 15 weeks is complete rubbish!

PurpleLostPrincess · 27/03/2007 21:26

I'm so sorry kinki, all I know is that we're only allowed tuna once a week or so due to the mercury or something... It's the only fish I eat too so I'm struggling - I lurve a tuna mayo wrap!!! I think you're supposed to avoid shark and some other fish too but I really don't know about cod.

While we're on the subject of foods, does anybody know if we're allowed cashew nuts? I know we're supposed to avoid peanuts if there's allergies in the family but I'm desperate for some cashew nuts!!!!

emalushka · 27/03/2007 21:29

I think tinned tuna twice a week is fine. For tea - I had (seriously) 2 pints of lager and a packet of cheese and onion crisps.

Nicki10 · 27/03/2007 23:30

Cashew nuts are fine purplelostprincess it's only peanuts were meant to avoid although a report came out last week to say that it doesn't increase the rate of a peanut allergy and actually it's fine to eat peanuts! So who knows who's right!

Nettee · 28/03/2007 07:38

yes the spice mix is a bit hot - I go for the jar version

I am still seeing a midwife yes - attached to a different hospital from where I work so all quite seperate which I think is good.

I am sure that cod is fine - tuna I seem to remember no more than two cans a week which is actually quite alot I think - and it is marlin and shark to avoid completely (something to do with mercury). Nuts other than peanuts - I have heard different things about from different people - it is only if there is allergy in the family that you should avoid peanuts anyway so most people are alright. Anyway all this from the girl who didn't know about pasturised brie being banned so don't take it too literally.

Holly29 · 28/03/2007 09:18

Eternity rings - hurrah! What a totally fabulous idea. I really must run that past my DH tonight...

Can I just say - thank goodness for Top Shop maternity. I went to their Oxford Street store yesterday afternoon and it was such a relief to walk into the maternity section and find lots of things I wanted to wear, jeans, trousers, even a really nice jersey skirt. Was loving it. In my defence, my MIL and mum both gave me cheques to buy myself some new clothes for my birthday...

Am totally loving ebay as well though. Great bargains!

Hope everyone is well today. xxx

EdieMcredie · 28/03/2007 09:29

Hi everyone!

Has anyone been been thinking about their mat leave? I can't wait...

laksa · 28/03/2007 10:30

AHHH I have pregnancy brain. We're going away for the easter weekend and I have completely forgotten that we needed to book our 2 cats into a cattery....watch this space for a headless chicken trying to find one that isn't fully booked! Back later when I have hopefully calmed down

EdieMcredie · 28/03/2007 10:36

Oh no!! Id do it for you if you didn't live so far away. Im obsessed with cats.
