Due to recent sad news and at the suggestion of others, I have started this new thread. Let's hear everyone's news.......

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Hopeitwontbebig · 22/03/2007 13:15

Poor you Lisa, I would have been SO if that had happened to me, I don't blame you for getting upset. The fact that they were so unhelpful was disgusting. Are we allowed to hit people when we're pregnant?? ?? Joke

I'm glad your midwife is a decent person and was able to do something.

Holly29 · 22/03/2007 14:47

Lisa,

Think I would have had a tearful hissy fit too. I've had a perfectly normal scan but am already counting down the days until my next one at 20 weeks (er, 7 weeks away!) and if someone tried to tell me I couldn't have one for whatever reason, then I think I would start crying immediately. Thank goodness for your nice midwife.
13 weeks today AT LAST. It's weird being right at the end of September, you guys feel like you are weeks ahead of me already!!

MMooMar · 22/03/2007 14:51

Nh101,I am so sorry things never turned out well.Take time to get yourself sorted but with that great attitude we shall see you back on these boards very soon I`m sure.

MMooMar · 22/03/2007 15:10

Hi all,
Hope everyone is feeling hunky dory.

Welcome on board fff45 and any newbies that I may have missed.

Laska,Huge big 30th birthday wishes.Wish I was there again ......37 next week (groan..).

Is anyone out there starting to bloom yet?
Im not ,dont think its gonna happen this time round.Had ANOTHER huge zit appear on the chin this morning!. Dont feel sick anymore(perhaps I shouldnt say anything?) but ...oh so tired all the time still.Could fall asleep on the end of a sharpened stick.Seems to be dragging on this time.

Still not felt any movement,so envious of those who have.....damn this anterior placenta thing! Will have to wait until its doing karate kicks before I feel anything.

Still eating anything naughty, crisps ,cakes sweets.Healthy dinners just dont appeal but I eat them anyway....and the sweets ,crisps etc .Still ,weighed myself the weekend and have lost weight .

Just got to say (as I polish off the the last HANDFUL) got to recommend marks and spencers mini jelly babies, bloody lovey, just want to wedge them in all at once...yum!

Thinking of buying my own doppler or will it turn into an obsession...dont know what to think? Views anyone?

honey2theb · 22/03/2007 15:47

mmoomar ive hired a doppler from ebay - i find it really reassures me when im having a bit of a panicky day! I heard the HB at the midwifes today too and it made me feel so happy! i can hear baba bouncing around in there too! how many weeks are you?? i think its difficult the earlier you are, but i have heard it from 14 weeks.

MMooMar · 22/03/2007 15:56

Hi honey2theb,I`m 15 weeks today.I was thinking about it because my placenta is on the front so apparently can make it difficult for them to hear the hb sometimes and I thought I dont want to have to keep waiting until my next appointment only to find that they cant hear the hb again .I think I will worry to much ,at least if I have one I could try myself every now and then at home.

Hopeitwontbebig · 22/03/2007 17:33

MmooMar I'm going to have to try some of those jelly babies. I too have been having a very unhealthy week. Just had a whopper with cheese meal, it's my son's fault, he got a special merit today at school... therefore HAD to treat him to a burger. DH bought me a chocolate sundae which I will be enjoying later, ho hum!

I've been thinking about getting one of those dopplers. Honey I didn't know you could hire them from Ebay, how much is it to hire? Is it easy to use?

PurpleLostPrincess · 22/03/2007 18:01

sparklynewthing - I've been falling asleep on the settee at about 9.30pm every night, then wake up and go up to bed about 1.30am then I can't sleep until about 4am and its doing my head in. I've tried staying awake as long as possible in the evenings but its just not working. My hubby is an insomniac and the last few nights we've discovered that all that time I was lying awake, he was awake too lol! We've agreed that we'll watch a film or have a cuddle (nudge, nudge) if it happens again tonight .

I was just saying at work today that I'm felling really old (I'm just 30) because this pg is really taking its toll on me (not complaining though). I had DS aged 17 and DD aged 21 and flew through without any major problems and was blooming for most of them. I'm wondering if the reason I'm struggling with this one is because I'm much older...?

I need to check out this dream thread - I have weird dreams when I'm not pg but I've been having even stranger ones lately. They're not sexual in any way but just really different, I'll have to start making a note of them to compare lol!

Hope everybody else is well? Got my 20 week scan date through - 4th May. Seems like a lifetime away!

xx

Nicki10 · 22/03/2007 18:20

Hi Guys

Hope everyone's well. My MS is back with a vengence and so far I've been sick every morning for the past week! So for it having gone!!. Somehow though I find it reassuring.

I have brought a doppler from a mumsnetter and I'm waiting for it to be delivered. I am such a panicky person and with having had a missed MC I didn't want to have to wait 4 weeks to know if bubba is alright. I just want it for reassurance reall. This one measures the heart rate as well so I will be able to see if it's changed.

Happy Birthday Laska are you getting DP to take you out to dinner?! Have a lovely evening.

FlossALump · 22/03/2007 18:34

Nh101 - so sorry. I hope things go well for you and the near future and we do see you on this board again soon. Please do keep us updated. take care.

I'm fine, also feeling very tired still. I'm 15+1 and finding the 12.5 hr shifts at work very tiring. I find I can't keep it up at the end and feel faint and wobbly. Oh, and yes I most certainly am eating plenty - especially at work where I just don't seem to stop. We are very lucky at work and it is unusual for us to be without choccies/cakes/biscuits, so I'm munching most days all day.

My mood is very short too ATM - Ds is bearing the brunt. He is being nothing short of awful a good deal of the time - terrible twos and I'm at my wits end really. I can't work out if I'm coming down with something or not too - my glands have been swollen for a week now, my throat is sore in the mornings and I'm incredibly tired.

Sorry for all the whinging. As for the dopplars I probably won't be getting one - they are great if you always manage to pick up the HR but the times you might not far outweigh the pleasure of it for me IYSWIM.

toadstool · 22/03/2007 19:09

Grumpy here too. The employers I'm about to leave told me to expect no mat pay, but after I sent them details of the legislation that they hadn't read, they think they should pay me SMP after all. 2 separate union reps have, on the other hand, said [1] my new employer should pay [which is nonsense]... or [2] I should 'learn about govt benefits' [which is insulting nonsense]. They hadn't read the legislation either. So there's a lesson there, right? Fight your own corner, because nobody else can be a**ed to fight it for you!
Rant over.

MrsMar · 22/03/2007 19:10

Evening all...

hello fff45, welcome aboard!

Happy birthday Laska - I had a ball on my 30th, i much preferred being 30 to being 29. It's always better to be at the start of a decade than at the end of it!

I must be very lucky, I'm not too tired at all, on the last couple of days off, I've had those funny bouts when I just HAVE to lie down on the sofa and snooze for an hour, but they're few and far between. No nausea for ages either which is fab!

I haven't felt anything at all either, I'm 14+1 today, and very envious of those that have. I'm such a worrier, sometimes I forget that I'm pregnant and I do wonder if everything's all right in there.I even noticed I lost a couple of pounds over the weekend, which of course worried me no end! A few kicks would be very reassuring. I've got to wait til the 17th May for my next scan, soooo long!

I hope everyone is well and happy. Have a good night xx

JemimaPuddleduck07 · 22/03/2007 22:37

Hi everyone. Nettee - thankyou for adding me to the list.

I'm only 15 weeks now but my stomach is enormous. It's hard to believe there's such a tiny baby in there. Has anyone else got a huge tummy already? Eating seems to be the only thing that stops the MS though!

MMooMar · 22/03/2007 23:18

Hi JemimaPuddleduck07,I am 15 weeks today and have one huge belly ,look more like I have gone 20 weeks or more.Hope its all fluid/placenta/pies cos at only 5ft nothing and 10lb baby is not what I need.
My DS was born prem but all the way through the midwife kept telling me he was going to be big but when he was born at 34 weeks he weighed 5lb 1 oz.But she still insisted if I had gone full term and he had laid down all his fat etc he would have been 9-10 lb...yikes.

FlossALump · 23/03/2007 08:08

I was so busy whinging last night I forgot to say the nice things!

Definately felt baby move night before last, I've felt things before but this really felt like little limbs moving around in there. Have had a few more little movements since but nothing as definate as that.

Edie, I think it is normal for it to come and go at this stage. When I was preg with DS some days I thought I'd felt him and others not. It wasn't until I had my 20 week scan that it all came together for me and I was like 'ahh, so thats what that was!' iYSWIM!

Had a horrible nightmare last night, DP was leaving us for a year to go and live on a spaceship (Like you do!) and was only telling me a few days before leaving. I had no way of working with DS, and threatened him that I would have to give up work, rent out our house and live with my parents to be able to afford to live.. He said fine. I woke up with him angry this morning, he put his arm around me and I threw it off!

I had another one last week too. The scan letter requested us not to bring children in case we are told bad news. Its going to be a bit awkward for us to arrange as on a weekday morning we don't really have anyone to ask. Anyway, in my dream DS came with us and DP and I went in the room and immediately started saying how we wanted to find out the sex. The sonographer started scanning, only to say 'babies not well'. Horrible. It had a huge blood clot on its brain. Its made me all the more determined though to find somewhere else for DS to go, which is a shame really as I would love him to see the scan. Also it has put the emphasis for me on making sure baby is ok and not worrying about frivolity of sex.

Is anyone else still taking multi vits?? I'm useless at taking them and have basically stopped in the past few weeks. I'm 15+2 now and try to eat a reasonable good diet intermixed with lots of crap!

Holly29 · 23/03/2007 09:15

Hi Mrs Mar,

Really hope you are not having to work nights anymore and am glad you are starting to feel better. I feel OK now - 13+1 and it's all starting to feel better - feel less tired and sick. Fab!

Went to a work dinner last night and now everyone knows I'm pg as I was the only one on cranberry + soda and it was lovely actually, all the older lot started reminiscing about their first borns!

hello to all newbies. It sounds like we've almost all had our scans now - roll on the 20 week ones!

MrsMar · 23/03/2007 10:49

morning girls! 14+2 for me today.

I kind of do have big tummy. I think my water retention is going up and down, because I lost a couple of pounds the other day, but I'm eating tons. I've still only put on 3lbs over my pre pregnancy weight, but I'm convincing myself that's because I was a right fatty before I started (rather than the more horrible, darker thoughts I have that I might have miscarried). I do have quite a blubbery tummy though. I keep pushing it out so that people don't think that I'm just fat! This is a really horrible transition phase, when you're bigger, but not big enough to get in to maternity clothes.

Having said that, I might have to relent soon, I can't fit in to jeans anymore, and yesterday I had a funny tummy, which I put down to sitting down at work all day. I did undo the top button of my trousers, but I think I squished the little fella. I swear later on in the evening (I was working a late shift) i felt a little bubbling, which I've convinced myself is the baby. I think he was protesting at being squashed for so long!

Hi Holly - I was talking to the guy in charge of nights yesterday, I've got a few weeks before my next set of night shifts to make up my mind about doing them. Because i'm contracted on an hours basis (have to do 160 in 4 weeks, any combination of days and nights) and a week of nights is a big chunk of hours it means I can work less shifts. If i come off nights I'll have to work a load of extra days and an extra weekend shift to make up the hours. However, come 21 weeks (when my next night shift is due) I may feel a weekend shift and four extra day shifts might be a small price to pay for not having to go to work at 10pm on a sunday night. (bleurgh!)

I have had loads of wacky dreams, but nothing as disturbing as yours Flossalump. Just ones that make me go HUH? My favourite was being on a plane and realising all the cabin crew were toddlers! EEK! I have been reading the dreams thread though, and I'm very disappointed I haven't had any saucy ones. To be honest I've not had the energy for any action bedwise (other than sleeping!) since getting pregnant. Poor dh is starting to wonder if he'll ever get any again!!! I keep telling him my energy surge must be just around the corner!! Poor love.

Have a great day everyone xx

Hopeitwontbebig · 23/03/2007 10:49

MmooMar, my DS1 was 10lb 10oz and DS2 was 10lb 4oz!! Apparently in this area they sometimes induce you early if you've had a history of big babies...will have to see. Maybe it'll be a girl this time and be smaller

laksa · 23/03/2007 11:21

Morning ladies,

Thanks for all the birthday wishes Had a lovely meal out last night with the dh, I ate tons yesterday...what with 3 slices of birthday cake, 3 course meal and full english breakfast . Its funny how I start the day with a flattish stomach and by the end of the day look about 5 months pregnant!

fff45, thats sounds like an intense dream. I'm not qualified to analyse it but do think you dp has a point. You're bound to be subconsciously thinking about your past experiences in relation to this one. Glad your test went well.

loopylou,I would have been upset if they had treated me like that, what did they actually check at your antenatal appointment, would have thought your bp at least! Have to admit to being a bit slack over the past week on the carhunting front. Will have to get a move on as don't fancy bending down to get into the MG when my bump gets large...could be quite a sight though Thats the problem with the MG its horrible when your back is hurting(sometimes get sciatica) as it is so low to the ground!

HOlly, I feel the same way being at the end of sept but at least we get a few weeks warning from the others as to what to expect. Oh and my favourite tipple at the moment is fresh lime juice and soda water...its lovely!

moomar, I am eating anything with chocolate and cheese in it at the moment. Nothing healthy has passed my lips for a while, hopefully when summer comes we will all sudddenly get cravings for salads I've decided I don't mind being 30 at all, aren't your thirties the time when you reach your sexual peak!?! Oh dear I really am obsessed at the moment sorry ladies.

purpleprincess, you are not old at 30! At least I hope not. I remember my mum bouncing around at 40 when she was pregnant with my brother. They do say that morning sickness is worse with progressive pregnancies though. I can't wait for my next scan either for some reason mine is at 23 weeks not 20.

Nicki, a doppler sounds cool, but I am like flossalump and would be panicking if I couldn't pick it up every time. Did anyone hear how Tom cruise and Katie bought a scan machine so they could monitor the baby at home

toadstool, it really is terrible how these people are supposed to know the legalities but seem clueless.

Flossalump, those are some vivid dreams you are having. Made me at you pushing your dh off. I have done the same thing with my dh, they get very confused. I am still taking pregnacare as I have a months supply of them left.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

xx

laksa · 23/03/2007 11:29

Mrsmar, I do feel for you, having to do nightshifts. Maybe the energy surge in the 2nd trimester will coincide with your next night shift and you won't feel too tired. I am getting bubbles in my tummy too but at 13+2 think it must be wind...how will I tell the difference?

xx

MrsMar · 23/03/2007 12:09

Hi laska, lets hope that does happen!!! I do have a great excuse for avoiding much of the work overnight though, last week my team leader was great and he gave me almost no work all week, so I just snoozed!!! I hope yours go ok too.

I'm glad you had a good birthday, as someone over half way through their 30s, I much prefer being in my 30s than in my 20s. Still got the looks (i hope, not too wrinkly yet) got more money, more confidence, happier and more knowing and worldly. Gotta be better than my neurotic 20 something self. But maybe that was just me....

MrsMar · 23/03/2007 12:11

As for the bubbles in the tummy, I have no idea how we're supposed to tell the difference. I lay in bed last night really concentrating on everything I felt in my abdomen, and nothing! Perhaps it was wind.... I've had terrible wind, and was clenching all day to stop myself farting all over the office!!! hmmmm so ladylike!!!

laksa · 23/03/2007 12:31

Just been to the toilet and have a pin prick amount of pinkish bloodtinged mucus. Is this normal? I haven't had this before. I'm a bit scared now. Has anyone had this recently?

xx

MrsMar · 23/03/2007 12:37

No experience of this I'm afraid, but I hope everything's all right. Can you give your midwife a call?

Keeping fingers crossed for you

xx

laksa · 23/03/2007 12:46

it was only a pin prick of blood in mucus so not sure if I should call them unless it happens again. Don't want to waste their time for nothing. Also could they do anything if it was a miscarriage beginning?

Think will wait till tomorrow and see what happens.

xx
