It always amazes me that people steal stuff off eachother in hospital.

Birthing ball - mine isn't pumped up fully as I find it uncomfoy to lean on - but tend to lean with top of chest on ball, on knees and either rock back and forward or side to side or do circles on it - or you could try just sitting on it and rocking.

Opinions - do you have to pay for tv? Blimey theres one expense we hadn't budgeted for - did actually watch daytime tv last time with ds2 after had epidural and had a sleep - but not charged for it LOL

Whendoobygotstuckupthechimney · 09/03/2007 18:46

Hi All
Just a weeonion update. She has been resting[which is good]and recording baby's kicks. She will be going back to hospital on Monday.Glad she is reating tho'.
Hope you are all ok.
I am desperate for a gin and tonic.Instead i have had a bottle of icecream flavoured yazoo milkshake and a bottle of banana milkshake and i now feel really sick[yuk]
3weeks and 2 days[eek]
I think i will take a couple of pillows to hosp as there are never enough and i can put baby on it if i put it on my tummy which is what i did last time[had section].I will prob throw them out afterwards as paranoid about mrsa and clostridium.
Off to get rennies.

flumppootle · 09/03/2007 18:46

Thanks octopussy, just need dh to come home and blow it up

We have to pay for the tv/phone, I think that they call it Patientline. What hospital are you going to?

octopussyintummy · 09/03/2007 18:51

Dooby - did you say you had bought some spray or something for people to clean their hands with? I have never been paranoid aboutit before but may be worth getting some - MILs stinky cigarette hands will def need a squirt!

Flumpootle - I am going to Royal United Hospital in Bath and will probably transfer to Chippenham Community Hospital afterwards for a rest. RUH is a big busy hospital and the aftercare for normal deliveries isn't great as they are busy looking after the mums/babies who really need support. RUH also doesn't have the best cleanliness records from what I recall - hence interest in Doobys spray!

octopussyintummy · 09/03/2007 18:52

Both mums rooms at Bath and Chippenham have tvs in them - maybe you can have your own tv - never occured to me!

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 09/03/2007 18:53

Pmsl at rather clean the floors - me too! Cleaning the floors last time set my labour off, so a great idea! Kill 2 birds with one stone so to speak!

Emmy, glad the scan went well - what a relief that the placenta has moved.

Octo, Becky seems to have constant head lice. I have lost count of the times I have done her hair poor love. She just keeps getting them, probably because no-one else can be arsed to do their kids. I am so pissed off with it. I used Hedrin recently which is safe for pg people. It is a right faff for B though as it makes everything so greasy. Going to try the Full Marks Mousse as it is easier esp. if I have to keep on doing it. Comb her hair every other night as well, which is becoming more and more difficult the bigger I get - just cannot get comfy.

Sorry for rant, but it is such a pita!

Hope everyone else is ok. See you later lovelies!

CaptainDippy · 09/03/2007 18:55

Hello - just popping in again - DD's in bed, absolutely knackered - they are not the only ones!!

Great stuff about bubs and placenta moving emmymummy - hope the same happens for me soon too!! Glad she is still a she - LOL!

All good in Bonny Scotland - weather v.changable today, went for a v.wet walk - was fun - lots of puddles to splash in!!

Dinner soon, so see you all later ....

flumppootle · 09/03/2007 18:58

Was in both Bath and Chippenham with DD2 octo. Chippenham is a lovely little unit, quite jealous because I have to go back to Swindon this time, big and not the homely atmosphere of Chippenham.

Doodby, thanks for the update about WO. Hope that all goes well over the weekend and Monday for her. I hadn't even thought about the bugs on home pillows etc . I have some anti-bac hand gel but dont think that I will take in my bf pillow now. Thanks for that tip

Ellie, how are you feeling? Are you better from your flu? If not then big hugs

CaptainDippy · 09/03/2007 19:00

Hi Flump!

babysopiniontakesover · 09/03/2007 19:00

Octopussy - yeh you have to pay in our hospital. Appr £4 for a full days viewing - not that you'd be watching it the whole day but it can pass the time when you're on your own and have to pass time esp at night time!

There are thieves everywhere esp in hospitals the number of people I have spoken to who have had eng rings etc taken ( i work in insurance) I know that not every single one is genuine but there are still a fair few. Never know whether its cleaners/nurses (not a nice thought) or other patients who knows esp money, phones, jewellery. My ring doesn't come off anyway so won't be worried about that one!!

Also this is minging but I think I will take some of those anti-bac wipes aswell cos hosp toilets and showers/baths not the cleanest of places - what a thought.

Having said that I've posted my whole hosp bag list I haven't started packing it yet and all i get from DH EVERY BLOODY DAY is have you packed your bag yet. Its definitely got sth to do with denial I think!!

CaptainDippy · 09/03/2007 19:02

No packing of emergency hospital bag (hoping for homebirth) here either ......

Whendoobygotstuckupthechimney · 09/03/2007 19:02

Yes Octo.I bought some stuff called..Matron.I think it is endorsed by Leslie Ash[the name is naff]but who cares!
I am going to keep it on the end of the bed as the handrub in the hospital is situated almost behind the bed and is really hard to get to.If it is at the end of the bed there is no excuse for it not to br used.I think i am extra anxious as i am having a c/section.I also have a smaller one to take into the bathroom.
I only knew ds had headlice when i was really itchyHe wouldn't let us wash his hair or put anything on it so we had to shave it off! Then he would only let us shave half of it...so he walked around like that for a few daysThis was a few years ago tho'
He has been at this new school since Sept as he was home edded beforee that so i expect there will be more to come!

flumppootle · 09/03/2007 19:02

Hiya CD

Are you having a lovley time in Bonny Scotland?

CaptainDippy · 09/03/2007 19:03

Nits. Yuk.

CaptainDippy · 09/03/2007 19:04

Yes we are - no nits here!!

flumppootle · 09/03/2007 19:05

LOL

flumppootle · 09/03/2007 19:06

Am a naughty mummy, have stuffed the kids full of roast dinner in the hope of a full nights sleep and a lie in

WestCountryLass · 09/03/2007 19:17

I had my homebirth visit with the midwife today and, yahoo, baby is heads down and engaged. Everything is ready so I am good to go! Mind you, DHs business partner is on holiday next week so I am under strict instructions to keep everything crossed til next Friday ;)

No bag packed here, I will just bung everything in a holdall if I have to go in.

Katy44 · 09/03/2007 19:32

Hello everyone
eca, glad you're feeling better.
Sorry, I can't remember anything else!! One more week to go then I'm on a weeks holiday!
flumppootle - was it you who mentioned due date envy? I've been having that for months, but it's getting worse now I have about 6 weeks left and some people have 3!
Bramshott, think you mentioned not being able to tell the difference between BHs and the baby wriggling - I've wondered that too, although I think I've had BHs, it could have just been the baby squirming. Does anyone know a way to tell for definite?
I have my next scan on Monday afternoon, and I can't wait! Hopefully this time we'll find out the sex. Plus, we get to find out what position she's in.

OP posts:
Emmymummy · 09/03/2007 19:53

Am putting my fingers in my ears and going lalalalala at all this talk of packing hospital bags. I want a home birth, but know I really should pack a bag for me and the LO just in case. Will probably fall into the throw it all into a holdall at the last minute camp if I need to.

CD - glad you're having a lovely time in Scotland and that the family you're staying with are nice. My bub is sending your bub turning vibes right now!

Is anyone renting a TENS unit by the way? Anyone found any good deals at all?

Emmymummy · 09/03/2007 19:56

Katy - so you're going to find out the sex then? Thought you weren't going to, or is the anticipation driving you nuts?

babysopiniontakesover · 09/03/2007 20:14

When I was taken to hospital the other night the "ambulance man" was telling us about how last week a couple got taken in right at the last minute who were having a homebirth, so I would be too panicked not to have a bag ready I think.

Katy - the difference between the two are: when the baby is just wriggling it just feels like it is, well, wriggling iyswim.
BH contractions are much stronger and your tummy will go as hard as a rock all over, it is sort of farily uncomfortable whilst it is a fairly reassuring type of "pain". Like a tightening all over the tummy I quite like them! They are just getting your body ready for labour.

WestCountryLass · 09/03/2007 20:17

Emmymummy, I had everything packed last time but didn't need it so this time i've put everything in a cupboard in my bedroom and it is all to hand if need be.

I went and got measured for nursing bras today, it suddenly dawned on me I had forgotten to get any

PS. Anyone else got low blood pressure?

babysopiniontakesover · 09/03/2007 20:19

Bp on wed night 97/150 yikes scarily high.

WestCountryLass · 09/03/2007 20:23

Mine was 90/55 today and I have been feeling weird for a few days so that explains it.
