Hnsden, how strange that we have the same mw! maybe she does want to make us look silly, but have been told by others that all fours is the best place to turn the baby so maybe not!!! We'll see.

Am really hoping that turning the baby(if that happens) will bring labour on quicker!? Oh please let that happen, my due date is only 24 days away. Really must get labour bag packed, tonight

flumppootle · 09/03/2007 17:10

Enjoy your ML mmk, what a nightmare your pc being broken you poor thing. Any neighbour about to let you hijack their machine for a while to save you the bus journey?

It is horrible being away from other LOs in hospital - I am dreading that too
DH has planned lots of fun outdoor things to do with ds that mummy cant do at the moment to try and distract him. Made me feel a bit better but not the same as mummy hugs.

runnyhabbit · 09/03/2007 17:13

I've heard that the best way to turn the baby is to scrub the kitchen floor

Eddas · 09/03/2007 17:14

Runny, like that'll be happening, wouldn't be able to get back up

runnyhabbit · 09/03/2007 17:19

eddas - know what you mean. the only way i'm on all fours is if dh is behind me.....iykwim

flumppootle · 09/03/2007 17:24

ROLF

Eddas · 09/03/2007 17:25

how rude That won't be happening here either, rather scrub the floors

maveta · 09/03/2007 17:32

OK. Dh has announced that I have to get my labour bag started soon.. think seeing couples about to pop at antenatal class last night got him worried! Didn´t someone do a list recently? Can anyone point me in the right direction?

octopussyintummy · 09/03/2007 17:45

Maveta - the Mallorcan Real Nappy Network - I have a bumhugger coming in the post...! Because I neeeeeeed it ...

Mammyjo - yes - that is my vision too - telling me to move out the way, be quiet or switch channels, turn the tv up as making too much noise, get them some food, drink, wipe their bottoms - while I'm busy rocking back and forward on my birthing ball puffing away! I need a better plan ....

DS2 come home from playgroup poorly - vless - has gone to bed - dh taken ds1 to the driving range so making curry and checking mn in peace - apart from Ernie who definitely has 8 legs kicking six bells out of my ribs!

octopussyintummy · 09/03/2007 17:47

vless being russian for bless!

maveta · 09/03/2007 17:52

octo - know I can always count on you to share the real nappy joy! Though hensden slipped out of the closet earlier on too..

Ok so seeing as you all seem to be busy the ONE time I have more than 5 mins to sit down and chat today I have started my list.. please add/delete as prior experience dictates...

Nighties x 2
pyjama bottoms plus a couple of tops
knickers (cheapy throwaway-able ones)
socks
breastpads
maternity pads
arnica
painkillers
witch hazel
sports bottle and/or straws
juice/water/snacks (incl for dh)
camera
mini fan
face cloth
hairband
lipsalve
toiletries
towel
pregnancy notes/birth plan etc.

Have I missed anything vital? Not started baby´s list yet, that´s next. Check my order of importance hey

runnyhabbit · 09/03/2007 17:56

what about a little water spray bottle? boots do them, and tbh I found it the best thing for keeping my face cool

flip flops to wear in the shower

maveta · 09/03/2007 17:57

Oooh yes.. adding.to.list.as.i.type..

Emmymummy · 09/03/2007 18:00

Hello - apologies as I haven't read the thread yet today, but just got back from my scan and all is good news. Placenta has moved to the right place, baby has turned head down, and she's till a girl! Hurrah, can relax a bit now!

maveta · 09/03/2007 18:05

Great news Emmymummy! LOL at ´she´s still a girl´!

octopussyintummy · 09/03/2007 18:09

Great news emmymummy

I would buy really cheap cotton knickers to wear which you are happy to bin - I have some disp ones but only intend to wear them for the first couple of hours and change them frequently - they are truly horrible!

octopussyintummy · 09/03/2007 18:12

would also take a book/magazine, earplugs, sleep mask, extra towels to leave in the car so can have fresh ones when needed, mobile phone, money .... will try to think of more - six bags of stuff is normal you know

octopussyintummy · 09/03/2007 18:14

Can I share a thought with you that only second/third timers would understand - I think my ds2 has given me headlice - my head is not so much itchy as crawly! Will get conditioner and comb out later!

maveta · 09/03/2007 18:17

AAARGH Head lice... the thought of them gives me the heebie jeebies, I don´t know how I´m going to cope when it´s our turn...

YvieE · 09/03/2007 18:18

Agree with Octupussy re the disposal knickers - they don't feel comfortable at all, so will also buy some cheap knickers that can be thrown away after.
Is anybody else packing two bags, one for labour and then another for post delivery?
MMK, BB - you've probably finished work by now, hope you had a great last day, still two weeks to go for me.
AngeE - sorry to hear about the C-Section, but as someone suggested maybe the date can be changed?
CD - Glad to hear you are having a nice holiday
Glad to hear that WO, ECA, 1B3, Oogs and MammyJo are all out of the hospital and I didn't miss a birth.
Emmymummy, glad you appt went well, have mine tomorrow am dreading my last dose of Anti-D

octopussyintummy · 09/03/2007 18:22

aaahh the joys of parenthood - ds1 gets them from school and ds2 from playgroup - more ds2 than ds1 as they seem to be in closer proximity at that age! I've caught them once before off ds1 the first time he had them because didn't occur to me that they would - having never had them myself as a child or knowing what to look for I was mortified but apparently its quite normal! The boys like to see who has live ones, who has eggs and who has the biggest - YAK! (need a new emoticon!)

maveta · 09/03/2007 18:28

NO! STOP IT! it´s totally freaking me OUT!

ok this might be a weird question but if I stay in 2 nights, which is the norm here, potentially how many knickers will I go through?? I have a pack of 5 cheapy knickers from matalan (a xmas present from a friend with the 2.50 price tag still on ) will that do?
