cd - glad your hol is going well.

mmk/octo - mooncup, have thought about trying them, but not plucked up courage yet!

bramshot - baby lying on the left (with spine forward) means that as the head descends into the pelvis the widest part of the head meets the widest part of your pelvis and so gives you the easiest and least painful delivery. Baby lying on right means it's a bit more squashed as it goes in to your pelvis. Baby lying on the right (with spine forward) however is not half as bad as the baby lying with it's spine towards your back. Havn't ever heard that to move from right to left baby has to move back to back, so not sure about that one.

Ange - sorry you're having such a stressful and worrying time. xxx

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 09/03/2007 13:01

Hiya, just a quick pop in whilst at work, and mega busy.

CD, glad you are having a lovely holiday.

Ange, good to see you, and I hope you can get something sorted.

eca, hope you are feeling a bit better. What a nightmare for you.

Hi Bramshott and everyone else. Sorry am crap at remembering anything. Panicing as only a week left at work and have a feeling things are going to be out of control in my absence (not that I am blowing my own trumpet, but no-one is really dealing with anything in my absence!)

Maveta, tahnks for your vote of confidence re Becky's wet night. I am sure it is a one -off. I think tbh she is a bit under the weather; has a cough and runny nose - again!

Right, need to go.

xx

mammyjo · 09/03/2007 13:03

Ange, dont apologise for being a bit down. You have every right and thats what we are here for. Fingers crossed that you may be able to change your date.

Octo, have mental picture of you having contractions and your dcs shouting at you to move as they cant see the telly!!

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 09/03/2007 13:05

Katy, when is your scan? I have lost track a bit. Good luck and looking forwrad to seeing if blue or pink bean. x

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 09/03/2007 13:06

Sorry, I am making a load of typo's today - typing too quickly and not checking it!

eca · 09/03/2007 13:30

just read this ! VV funny! Don't know what I've let myself in for getting pregnant...

Birdiebump · 09/03/2007 13:30

Hensden - also Diclofenac (as well as Voltarol) are good for afterpains apparently. That's a good idea to go to your GP to stock up in advance - I'm going to try that. I don't remember any afterpains from DS2, but then I don't remember much!

MMK - Hi there, last day at work buddy!!

Ange - sorry to hear about date of C-section and hope something works out so that you can have it sooner.....

SOSPL - DS2 is still dry after his one wet night so fingers crossed for Becky. He keeps waking us up though, when he goes to the loo - is driving me mad as I can't get back to sleep and have little enough sleep as it is.

I am definitely in the "so huge I want it out NOW" camp. I was 35 weeks yesterday and can't imagine carting this around for more than a month but I have always been late before.....

Hi Zazas and Bramshott!

Eca - re babies' positioning etc. - you're CLEVER!! I never knew that before. Absolutely no idea where my LO is at the mo - well, obviously I sort of know where she is ! and will check with mw when I see her next Tues.

ML starts on Mon - I'm never going to be off here.....

maveta · 09/03/2007 13:39

Sun still shining, what a lovely day. And yes mammyjo it´s pretty warm aswell.. just a long sleeved top to go out earlier although the jumper and jacket will come out as the sun goes down for sure.

AngeG - sorry about your date, I can imagine that must be so disappointing and hope they manage to pull it forward for you.

Mooncups - yeeeees, I have thought about them but I haven´t quite got around to trying them out yet. NO I don´t want anyone´s old one to try out!! YAK! (as octo would say!)

Received a couple more nappies through the post..getting a bit worried about what I have ordered as keep getting packets and thinking (what the HELL else did I order??) eek.

Glad you´re having a fab holiday CD - hope the weather is kind to you.

Got to go make lunch xxx

maveta · 09/03/2007 13:40

Are afterpains common after 1st births? Should I stock up on anything? Is arnica only for c-sections?

Have GOT to start getting my labour bag ready soon... tick tock tick tock tick tock...

Bramshott · 09/03/2007 13:44

Have a great last afternoon at work MMK and Birdiebump! Mine's a virtual gin and tonic please!

Going off to the swings with DD now while it's still sunny. Hope the nice weather lasts for the weekend and I can get out in the garden. I want a flame gun for the weeds so I don't have to bend down!!

Eca - thanks for that re right/left positioning. Seems to make sense. I knew that on the left was considered 'best', but not really why that was!

May not be on much over the weekend, so hope everyone has a good one.

xxx

charNbump · 09/03/2007 13:46

hi ladies!

Was wondering, has anyone heard from hellcat recently? i am her buddy but she still hasn't put her email address up? hmmm

34 +2 wohoo! xxxxxx

Pesha · 09/03/2007 14:12

Maveta - had afterpains abit with first baby, its as womb contracts back to size and 1st time just felt abit like mild period pains. BFing encourages womb to contract so brings pains on abit at 1st but was nothing too bad first time.
2nd time - was like i was still having contractions only worse cos it didnt ease off after a minute or 2 and what with very sore nipples bfing quite often brought tears to my eyes. But it is only for a week or two, if that in fact i cant really remember when it stopped but it wasnt bad enough to stop me continuing with bf.
Bit scared this time though if its going to be worse again!

And I took arnica both times after vaginal birth, its supposed to help with healing and bruising. can say if it did or not as dont know what i would have been lke without it but i did heal fairly quickly both times with no probs so will be taking it again.

Oh and to whoever said about newborns being grey - am ashamed to admit i remember very little about my babies when they were just born, it was all abit of a blur!! I can only really picture them when they wee clean (ish!) and pink.

Pesha · 09/03/2007 14:14

Sorry bout typos - didnt bother previewing as thats the 3rd msg ive tried to post on here today, all about different things and they keep getting lost as mumsnet stops responding and i have to turn it off so posting as quick as i can!!

Pesha · 09/03/2007 14:15

Which is also why ive not mentioned loads of people, i have really ive written comments to you all but they got lost and now they've got lost inside my head too!!

eca · 09/03/2007 14:16

birdie - not clever, just did it at NCT teh other night & have been reading this book on it as extra homework (class swot, obviously!). Reading loads about positioning because m/w thinks my lo is breech.

maveta - LOL at the thought of you getting lots of nappies through the post that you can't remember ordering!! Ha! You'll have shipped in enough for all the new mums on Mallorca!

bridie&mmk - have a great last day at work! Mine's a pimms and lemonade with ice and strawberries, cucumber and borage please! MMmm... get this baby out!

Pesha · 09/03/2007 14:17

Well - if im honest i probably didnt mention everyone, dont think ive ever managed that but i did comment on lots!!

So am thinking of all with pains, problems, children () etc

flumppootle · 09/03/2007 14:42

WooHoo to ML mmk and birdiebump! Mines a virtual G&T!

Hopefully just a hiccup for B SOSPL

AngeG, grrrr at your section date. Not a stress that you need at the moment. Hope that you can find a way to resolve it.

Happy holidays family dippy!

Hensden the afterpains got worse with each birth for me so I will be packing plenty of painkillers! On the plus side the labour pains were alot less

Maveta, LOL at nappy arrivals!

I have a confession to make.....think I am staring to get due date envy my six weeks sounds SO much longer than those with 3/4 weeks

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 09/03/2007 14:44

Maveta, I took arnica after having episiotomy after Fanjo birth. Have some this time around as well just in case!

mmk · 09/03/2007 14:46

eca- oh how i loved reading that thread, it was just so funny!
Ange, hope this gets sorted, they shouldn't be stressing you with all this!

Now, shall I tell you all about my fab (fee) lunch laid on by Office Angels (oh yummy, Nando's chicken etc etc). Have only got a few hours to go.

How are you doing Birdie? Who asked for Pims with strawberries and ice, oh yyummy.

I'm dreading ML without a computer, will have to take the bus to the library every day just to catch up. Nest week is pretty much booked up with Bf counsellor, computer guy, mother's visit.

So ladies, here we go..

I'm not even pretending to do any work now, but working on my Legal Secretaries Diploma at my desk!

1becomes3 · 09/03/2007 15:09

eca- glad you are feeling better.

and that is about all I can remember from when I left the thread

I have just got back from doing a tiny bit of shopping with my mum, we would have stayed and done some more, but I was getting very painful plus the fact that my trousers were all wet
Nothing to worry about just alot of discharge (TMI)
I have a load of house work to do but I don't have the energy to do it, I think I will just curl up on the couch with my hot water bottle and have a nap till DD wakes up.

mmk · 09/03/2007 15:17

1becomes - you are a star!

trousers wet, do you mean that awful maternity type of wet, or just rain?

How about a moon cup, would that help? or one of octopussy's mugs?

Eddas · 09/03/2007 15:40

Ange, it's horrible when you want them out for a relative to see them. My sis went off round the world for 6 months when dd was due, she went on the monday and dd born thursday. I did tell her to wait at least 2 weeks after the due date to guarantee seeing her, but she never listens! My friend had elective c/s 5 days before her due date with her dd1. She didn't go into labour before hand so you may be fine. Hope a chat with dp helps

Hensden, i'm at a surgery in Coxheath, my mw is part of the Leeds team so maybe the same as yours, Alison Reside.

hensden · 09/03/2007 16:37

Eddas 'SNAP' I wonder if she says it to everyone, just to make us all look silly walking around with our bums poking out

MMK - how will you manage in a library, get your computer fixed quick or you might end up getting banned for laughing and making noise.

Maveta It's a bit like that here in the morning a parcel arrives DD gets all excited and then 'not another nappy'..

Thanks for the drugs advice I'm making a note of them all and make sure i get them pronto.

Flump thanks (i think) I suppose it's better to know what to expect, nobody warned me last time and I found it really painful and thought something was wrong. With you on the labour pains if they get better every time it's some consolation DD was a much better birth then DS this one might just drop out with a little ouch, here's hoping.

And it's a gin and orange for me please

mmk · 09/03/2007 16:53

hens
goodness knows how I'll cope in the libray, sniggering and spluttering at all the fun here!

I am getting very twitchy, not about the pregnancy, but that the technician isn't even coming until 15th. I'll be truly missing you all until then.

I'm hoping everyone will get a good nights sleep. Things have been soooo much better for me since I started having a starchy snack before bed, like cornflakes. I sleep like a log. It stops hormone head too.

Please everyone, tell me how I'm going to survive without ds when I go into hospital? I'm not at all worried about csection, birth or anything. But, the thought of only seeing ds for a while in the evening is hurting.

runnyhabbit · 09/03/2007 17:10

Hi everyone

mmk - thanks for the info re bf. This will probably be the last pregnancy I have, and I really want to experience bf. I've got the book - what to expect when you're breastfeeding... and have felt so empowered by it, plus am being looked after by a really wonderful team of mw.

mammyjo - lol at the carrot being dangled in front of you which mw team are looking after you? (I'm with the Derwen team)

Think my mum is the most excited out of all of us about this lo. She's given me dates NOT to give birth on, because she's away She's not going to be at the birth, but she likes to be around lol.

Glad I'm not the only one getting a lot of discharge it felt like I had a show earlier there was that much (sorry tmi )

Can't believe I've been off work a week already.

Ummm...sure I was going to write more....but have forgotten

take care all, and have lovely weekend

xxx
