@astormgivenflesh we've gone for a babyzen because it's so light and easy to fold up. Can do it with one hand so can hold baby with the other.

ShiniBerry · 29/03/2017 19:39

How scary RedBlu hope you are resting up lots. Don't worry or stress too much about work, this is the time to be a bit selfish and put yourself and baby first.

TickyBoo I completely agree, having moved a month ago I wish we had asked our movers to pack for us as well instead of listen to DH insist he could do it all himself. It was such a stressful week and in hindsight I should have been more firm and insisted on having the movers pack.

Rise how lucky to get individualized attention!

MrsJW your office has a meditation room?!! Shock My workplace is not preggo/new mother friendly at all. I'm going to have to figure out where i'm going to pump when I go back to work.

Storm we've gone for an UppaBaby cruz which works well for DH who is 6'3" and me at 5'3" as it sits pretty high. It's the smaller, lighter and more compact version of the Vista and has one handed steering and folds down really easily.

A friend who recently gave birth told me about breast shells and how they've been a godsend as she leaks so much during BFing and been able to save a lot of milk at each session. (these to be specific www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007HYL9TS/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=AFM3MZNG1G1FJ)&tag=mumsnetforum-21. Seems they
catch all the milk that leaks during BFing and can be stored for use later. Anyone have any experience with these or similar?

I had my midwife appointment on Monday (34+3) and asked about the birth plan too, she said we'd get a better idea of what we want to do after attending antenatal classes, and to think about what we want and make notes and then fill in the section in the maternity notes folder, and we can discuss the options afterwards.

I also had another growth scan yesterday and turns out LO has gained 3lbs in 1 month!! Our last scan on the 28th Feb measured him at an estimated 4lbs, and yesterday he was estimated at 7lbs!!! His abdominal circumference and fetal weight were way off the chart. I am freaking out and so worried now that he's going to be too large to birth, or that there will be complications during birth or that will come early. The consultant who did the scan seemed rather concerned too and went to discuss it with another consultant. As I have another midwife appointment in two weeks when i'll be 36 weeks, they said the midwife will have to evaluate options then. I've been reading up on babies measuring large and seems that some have come out as early as 36 weeks which for me is in 1.5 weeks. On the upside they did a 4D preview scan for us and we got a very clear picture of his cute chubby little face. Anyhow the consultant wants me to attend a diabetes clinic (despite all three GTTs coming back normal) so I might have to start home monitoring and see if that helps any. I think i'm going to have to bite the bullet and pack my hospital bag ASAP!

savagehk · 29/03/2017 19:49

shini try not to worry, scans aren't that accurate. Have a look here... evidencebasedbirth.com/evidence-for-induction-or-c-section-for-big-baby/

EsmesBees · 29/03/2017 19:53

Storm I can't recommend the uppababy Cruz enough. Narrow, light and sturdy, with a great shopping basket (you won't realise how important this is til you are taking half the house out with you). We've used ours for two years and still love it.

Poor you peas. It's so tough with a toddler. I met up with a friend who's got a 10wk and a 3 year old, and she said it's not half as bad as she expected with two. Which was a nice contrast to all the horror stories.

Shini whilst this is based on no evidence what so ever, I know a fair few mums who were told to expect huge babies after scans, and they came out very average. So the scan may not be right. Still, you are probably right about getting the hospital bag ready just in case.

EsmesBees · 29/03/2017 19:53

Oh, there we go, crossed post with savage who actually does have some evidence!

WishIWasSleeping · 29/03/2017 19:57

Just a note on the wayfarer, we brought ours for DD, who is almost 15mo, and was told it would fit in my 59 plate fiesta (god I miss that car!) ... it did fit... if you did a lot of wiggling and jiggling... I always found it easier to put into the car in 2 pieces with the handle on the smallest setting.
And to be honest, I used to stick the wheels in the boot with anything else I had, and the seat section in the back of the car.
Loved the carrycot on it though, used it at home for naps all the time. Can't wait to get it out again!
And it folds flat onto the wheel chassis, so the length and width of the wheels is as flat as your going to get it.. I hope that makes sense! Oh, I'm 5"6 and hubby is 6"4, so we constantly change the handle height now when we're out, but I don't have it on the lowest.
I still love it though and wish they did a side by side rather than a front and back!

So I've been off of work for 3 days with DD with her chicken pox. I miss work....!
However I did enjoy my afternoon naps on Monday and Tuesday and I'm annoyed with myself for logging into my laptop today instead of sleeping! I dont think I'm creative enough to be a FTM... Hmm

nursebickypegs · 29/03/2017 19:59

@ShiniBerry I'm convinced Bub will be early as the same has happened to us, he was 4lbs at 28 weeks and I have a scan on April 10th. DH thinks he will be end of April and then I get terrified SadConfused

Sipperskipper · 29/03/2017 20:06

shini & klane mine is in the Navy. Have been meaning to assemble it but have been busy sorting out the nursery etc. Really excited to.do it now though!

teainbed · 29/03/2017 20:09

Breast shells were ok but you might not be that leaky so it's very variable how much you'd collect in them.

Tickyboovicki · 29/03/2017 20:44

Another vote for the cosatto giggle 2! Again we got it as a January sales bargain.
Thanks for all the advice re movers. Once I'm off next week I'll get a load of quotes from companies and see if it's something we can afford!

Barnes79 · 29/03/2017 20:47

astorm I got an Oyster 2 as it was light and easy to fold (I've had a bad back for years). It also folded up really small (which we wanted as trying to fit baby stuff and a dog in the car is going to be problematic). Also I'm 5ft 4, DH is 6ft and both felt it an ok height (we got the seat raisers for it).

Brightsmoke · 29/03/2017 20:51

TMI POST WARNING

I've noticed I've been wet -down there- recently, for the last few days now, not a lot, just 'damp'. I'm slightly worried it's my waters going very slowly, is that even possible? It doesn't smell like pee, so I don't think I'm just having bladder issues. Is it a problem if it is waters going? Will baby be in trouble? Think i might call midwife in the morning, just to put my mind at ease. Has anyone else noticed this at all? please say yes and tell me I just keep wetting myself 😂

teainbed · 29/03/2017 20:58

Bright it could just be an increase in vaginal secretions or wee but definitely call the midwife if you're worried.

teainbed · 29/03/2017 21:00

Think there will be plenty of TMI posts over the next few weeks and months! Anyone doing perineal massage soon? Grin

Autumnsweater · 29/03/2017 21:03

I've had something similar, after reading this link decided what I had was normal. Does say can be mistaken for urine in later pregnancy. Been wearing knicker liners I get that much 🙄

www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/pages/vaginal-discharge-pregnant.aspx

peasandquiet · 29/03/2017 21:05

Bright I think you get a increase in discharge when your plug starts to thin in preparation for eviction. I had this first time round, and even got a midwife to check me one day as was convinced it was waters it got so heavy. I'd take it as a positive sign that your body is prepping for the big event!!

coxsorangepippin · 29/03/2017 21:05

storm I'm v close to your height, for us it was a toss-up between bugaboo bee and icandy peach (ruled out cameleon because I wanted something that could fit on a bus easily). Went for the bee in the end just because it has the soft cocoon option as an alternative to carrycot, which means I can fold the whole thing down without detaching anything.

savage thank you for that link - I am tracking well above the 90th percentile on the growth curve and a bit worried about the 10lb baby that implies!

nursebickypegs · 29/03/2017 21:06

@Autumnsweater I always seem to get it when I'm more "active"; this week I've been walking a bit and feel like I need to change my pants!

Autumnsweater · 29/03/2017 21:09

I'm 32+4 today and feeling rubbish. Just started feeling huge over the past week or so and can't reach my socks/laces.

I did a weekend shift that nearly broke my pelvis in two, asked my boss if we could come to some arrangement about the shift he has me on over Easter (on the emergency shifts, really unpredictable but they can be mental where you don't get any break for seven hours, and not as many nurses around to lift things for me) and he was very unhelpful.. so I've been to the doctors for a fit note for amended duties but I'm really annoyed that I had to do this. I've worked here for over 3 years and have always been the first to volunteer to cover weekend shifts for other people's illness, they know I'm not a shirker, but it doesn't seem to have been appreciated Hmm

Autumnsweater · 29/03/2017 21:10

nurse that makes sense, it's worse in work when I'm on my feet all day. Off today and hardly anything!

MrsJW15 · 29/03/2017 21:24

So some good news! You may remember my H&M parcel that went missing last week? Anyway, my security guy found it today undwher a staircase. Open but all the items were in there and still wrapped. Whoever stole it obviously dumped it because it was a rubbish parcel. I rang H&M to try to update them (not easy) but they've already refunded me, so now I seem to have free clothes. Slight issue is that I'm not sure it all fits me...

Also, Mamas and Papas messed up a delivery for me a couple of weeks ago and have given me a £10 voucher to say sorry.

Yes, I'm really lucky with the meditation room! It's a huge company - 3000+ people, so we always have lots of pregnant people and they are pretty good. My direct bosses are also really nice and supportive - but I'm still doing 40+ hour works which is leaving me pretty exhausted. That ends Friday though.

Bright I have also noted some increase in discharge and dampness recently. I googled and decided it was ok, but will see how it goes before my appointment next week.

nursebickypegs · 29/03/2017 21:30

@Autumnsweater what do you do? Same happened to me. I had occupational health referrals, letters to my boss, but yet I kept on being sent to "heavy" patients. Same as me, day in bed nothing but out walking? Nearly wetting myself 😂 gross but I put it down to change of temperature as well as it's really muggy here. When I use to work on a ward, I always had spare knickers in my locker Grin

Sipperskipper · 29/03/2017 21:38

bright I too am damp! Even had to change my pj bottoms during the night last week as it was irritating me. (Sorry, super gross!) Had it quite a bit in early pregnancy, then it stopped for months & now its back!

nursebickypegs · 29/03/2017 21:39

And it's party in my womb time where every night my SPD goes mental and I swear I see a hand!

WishIWasSleeping · 29/03/2017 21:42

My mw 'warned' me it was almost time for increased discharge at my appt on Monday.
I hadn't forgotten this from last time. I wore lots panty liners during pregnancy than I do when I'm not!
I also still had one on when my waters broke.. #helpful..Grin
