Holly I feel the same... When I first found out I was pregnant I wanted to have a natural delivery but now th practicalities are looming I'm looking more at elcs... Can't afford to be waddling to the school gates / going over for weeks and just not knowing! It's just me and dh out here, no other support unless we pay for it (then it's having people dd doesn't know do everything), I just don't think I can leave it to chance

calimommy · 29/03/2017 03:40

I understand the need for organisation, I keep telling people that I'm end of august 😂😂😂 because I'm hoping/assuming I'll go early again. I know that's a bit bonkers but one can only hope... on the other hand because we are out here alone my mom was going to come out around the time I'm due but if I go three weeks early again then she mightn't be here AND although I love her I don't fancy having her here for weeks and weeks on end, annoying the shit out of me. I've only had v births so no sections, which I'm happy about! But if I had then I'd probably be planning again.

It must be so hard to make a decision after an EMCS

MrsY87 · 29/03/2017 16:32

I had an EMCS but it was because she was breach and so I had it as soon as I naturally went into labour, if she hadn't have been early I would have probably had an ELCS. It was probably a bit like an ELCS as I walked to the theatre and it wasn't rushed or because there was an immediate problem so i felt very much in control and it was a very positive experience so I could see the benefit of having an ELCS this time but then I know I would find it difficult if I couldn't pick up my DD after having had a CS so may try for a vbac. I have birth choices appointment in may to talk it through which I'm looking forward to.

Had my 16 week mw appointment today, so lovely to hear our little babys heart beating away! ❤️

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 29/03/2017 20:12

15 weeks today

On my second day off work. Been having headaches for a couple of weeks and they've got worse, especially upon standing etc. Had a few dizzy spells since yesterday too and just generally feel like crap!! I'm thinking of going back to work tomorrow, I feel bad about having the time off.

Apart from resting and taking paracetamol, does anyone have any suggestions to help with the dizziness and headaches? I called the midwife team earlier on and they're talking about checking my iron levels again but they didn't really have any suggestions other than rest, and paracetamol.

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 29/03/2017 20:14

I don't think I'm going to watch this series of one born. I'm far too sensitive at the moment and I think I'd let my imagination run away with me when watching assisted deliveries or emergency c sections!!! I cried enough watching call the midwife!!

Fluffywallow · 29/03/2017 20:19

That sounds rubbish cold - are you drinking plenty of water? I get headaches really quickly in pregnancy if I don't drink LOADS.

I vaguely remember having dizzy spells with my DD and I'm sure it was low blood pressure, have you had yours checked?

WhatwouldRuthdo · 29/03/2017 21:42

I also remember having dizzy spells with my DS. It wasn't nice, so I do feel for you. I never got to the bottom of it and it passed, but worth thinking about your blood pressure like Fluffy says, and your blood sugars perhaps.

EssentialHummus · 29/03/2017 21:47

Another one with dizzy spells here cold. I'm trying to keep a drink / boiled sweet with me when I'm out as that sorts it, but it's obviously not a proper solution. I've had two appointments this week and forgot to discuss it.

For anyone else with random dry skin patches- I asked the midwife about them, and she recommended Palmer's Cocoa Butter. It's been brilliant for me, am much less scratchy.

Frillyhorseyknickers · 29/03/2017 21:54

Second Palmers cocoa butter - plus I love the smell.

I've got a horrible feeling I am coming down with cystitis. I'm doing all I can to "flush" it out before it sets in - it's the one pain that I just cannot seem to deal with unless I am in a hot bath feeling sorry for myself.

flymo79 · 29/03/2017 23:49

Oh no frilly! Yesterday I had a bit of a prickly feeling too and am worried it might be that, not sure I've ever had cystitis before though... (I know you'll tell me I'd know if I had!!)

Lules · 30/03/2017 07:10

I had dizzy spells last time, particularly towards the end. I had it checked out pretty throughly and there didn't seem to be a reason for it so I think it can just be one of those things.

I definitely felt kicks yesterday. Well, more like it was trying to escape my uterus but that counts! And my coat won't do up this morning for the first time. Exciting!

SpringSpringSpring · 30/03/2017 07:13

Has anyone felt any movement yet? The midwife was saying it can start around now Smile

SpringSpringSpring · 30/03/2017 07:15

Cross-posted with Lules - how exciting!

Fluffywallow · 30/03/2017 07:27

That's lovely Lules I have felt flutters for a week or so and had my first definite kick yesterday, looking forward to them becoming more regular. 17 weeks tomorrow.

LouLou030783 · 30/03/2017 07:28

I haven't spring but then I'm only 14 weeks I think I was around 16/17 last time but really can't remember

Aww lules how lovely how far along are you?

Travelgeek · 30/03/2017 07:50

I'm 17 weeks tomorrow and feeling all sorts of odd flutters but not sure about a definite kick yet but there's movement in there! It is my first though so not really sure what to expect.

Having felt great the past few weeks I am back to throwing up and feeling over tired. Hoping its just baby having a growth spurt and a reminder to take things easier.

Anyone tried a natal hypnotherapy/ hypnobirthing book or cd? All this talk of how things have gone for you in previous births made me think more about it and what my preferences are (whilst accepting it may all go out the window!)

WhatwouldRuthdo · 30/03/2017 08:00

I've had some little kicks/prods. Not regularly, maybe once or twice a day. I'm 18 weeks though and it's my second. With DS I first felt something just before my 20 week scan

Lules · 30/03/2017 08:14

Only 14 weeks which is really early but I remember the feeling so it's definitely that. Can't remember when I felt it first the last time. Fairly early I think.

EssentialHummus · 30/03/2017 08:40

travel I'm keen to learn about hypnobirthing but haven't taken any steps yet.

EssentialHummus · 30/03/2017 09:10

BTW, re dizziness, I just found this on the Emma's Diary website:

"During this second trimester your blood pressure will have lowered. Be careful not to get up too quickly from sitting because you may become dizzy as your reduced blood pressure struggles to send more blood to your head." - Link

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 30/03/2017 10:27

I'm drinking loads fluffy. About 3 litres of squash a day at the moment.
My BP was 105/56 at booking 3.5 weeks ago and about 110/68 at my scan just over two weeks ago. Nurse checked it at my asthma review last week, didn't say what it was but said it was OK.
I do seem to have a minor infection (throat / chest infection) or my asthma is starting to play up again. Could either of those make my blood pressure or blood sugars drop?
Absolutely exhausted today. I had been planning on going back to work this evening but right now all I can think of is sleeping. Also have zero patience at the moment because I feel crappy.

spring I have felt some movement, not kicks but more like somersaults. DH was playing with my belly and the baby seemed to be doing its best to move right to the back and as far away from him as possible!! It was very weird. Almost tickled!!

oliversmummy26 · 30/03/2017 11:41

Holly I'm exactly the same, absolutely definitely not allowing them to induce me. I genuinely think the problems with my labour before which led to EMCS was because I spent the whole time on my back in bed, strung up to drips and monitoring equipment, then epidural really early. None on this is going to help deliver a baby quickly or in the right position, surely gravity is a big help!

I had a dreadful headache on Tuesday which turned into a migraine by teatime, in bed at 8pm and woke yesterday morning still with a headache so I didn't go into work yesterday and I'm amazed at how much better I feel today! I didn't take it easy, I cleaned the house and caught up on the washing and went through DS's old baby clothes, but by the evening I felt amazing and desperate for some sex! So I'm happy, DH is happy and feel awesome today! I can definitely recommend some time off work and make sure you get the time off to yourself. I think that's what I needed most, a day for me!

So we have hundreds of baby clothes for our little boy, I will be spreading the word that we don't need anything smaller than 6 months for this one if anyone is buying anything!

Started crocheting a blanket for baby yesterday and was sitting on the sofa watching TV while I made it feeling loads of proper kicks! It's so lovely, still not regular, but when they come they are getting much stronger Smile

Travelgeek · 30/03/2017 12:06

Ah, such a lovely post olivers. So pleased you a feeling better.

calimommy · 30/03/2017 15:36

olivers and holly I'm the same, I was induced w DS1 and even though it was relatively fast and remained a vaginal birth, it was horrendously painful. I got the epidural which helped but when the drip went in they said it would take ages to kick in, it didn't. And there was no gradual increase in contractions, it was 0-100 in 20 mins. My second was a much better labour, didn't even have time for epidural. I'd like one of those again!
