I hadn't even thought about my rings not fitting later on! I often don't wear my engagement ring but I never take my wedding ring off. Now I know to keep an eye in the fit, thank you. I can't imagine not having it on now though.

I don't envy you ladies having to choose VBAC or ELCS, but niw I really feel like I'm stepping into the unknown. I get the mechanics of it, but have absolutely no idea how my body will respond in labour. I don't like the thought of a long labour ending in an EMCS but I guess we'll just have to see what happens.

I had my first stranger baby question today. The checkout lady at waitrose (don't normally shop there but was passing and bought orange squash and strawberry laces!) said 'so when's the baby due?' and then 'do you know if its a boy or a girl yet?'. Guess there'll only be more of that but I find it odd that people ask these things when they would make small talk about the weather or the parking with anyone else! Bump is definitely a bump now!

Lules · 13/04/2017 13:38

I had to take my rings off too but I can't remember when. I put my wedding ring on a necklace and wore it that way. My DH called me Frodo.

olivers for me as my DS is younger it's the other way round as I won't be able to pick him up for a few weeks and my recovery last time was slow.

oliversmummy26 · 13/04/2017 15:31

Lules I must admit I'm pleased that DS will be older as he'll be easier to look after than a toddler when recovering from a section. Though I bounced back pretty quickly last time, just 1 night in hospital and was out pushing the pram within a few days...I did end up with an infection in my scar though, so suspect I was up and about a bit too quickly! DH is much more supportive than ex ever was though, so I'm sure he'll be more help..

londonfeather · 14/04/2017 09:38

The belly is really starting to come along now. Not sure how much longer I can keep it hidden! Had a really good week last week energy wise and can really start to feel kicks now. 20 weeks next Wednesday!! It's going so quick!

SuziePink · 14/04/2017 16:32

I still don't really look pregnant at 19 weeks today, I went to a wedding last weekend and, apart from my friends who already knew, felt I had to explain to people why I wasn't taking advantage of the free bar!

Funniest thing was when a lady who was staying in the same place as me came to sit next to me to have a drunken chat brought me some spirit (rum maybe) to drink with said chat. I said I couldn't have it because I'm pregnant. She then went to pour my drink into hers but poured the entire lot on the table instead! Well that and watching my friends drunkenly dancing while able to remember everything...

EssentialHummus · 14/04/2017 18:27

Hi everyone, I've been reading but nothing to update. I'm on holiday with family and looked at today's photos of myself- there's definitely a belly there! Still no definitive kicking. I'm starting to worry but I think we'll go for an extra scan next week anyway so DH can be there to hear the sex - hopefully that will calm me down.

SuziePink · 14/04/2017 19:37

EssentialHummus as far as I understand it's fine not to feel much until at least after 20 weeks and depends on where the placenta is. I haven't felt much more than bubbling yet, a bit like having wind really so not feeling anything is nothing to worry about at this stage.

WhatwouldRuthdo · 14/04/2017 20:09

EssentialHummus if it's your first baby it can take past 20 weeks to feel any movement. Plus if your placenta is at the front, it will be harder to feel anything. Hope the extra scan puts your mind at rest also.

EssentialHummus · 14/04/2017 20:40

Thanks both. I vaguely remember something in my notes about the placenta being at the front, and I'm not 20 weeks yet.

Dixiechick1991 · 14/04/2017 20:56

Hello everyone had my 20 week scan yesterday and all was lovely. Got awful cramping and stretching tonight though 😓 My belly goes so taut!! Need to remember to book in whooping cough next week, not looking forward to it. Flu jab bruised and was itchy for about a w I k!

flymo79 · 15/04/2017 15:03

Marking place, can't keep up!!!

unhindered · 15/04/2017 16:19

Hello I only just found this thread! I am on the facebook page and started to try and catch up from the beginning but I think that will be an impossible feat so I think ill just read this one and go back at some point if I get bored! Grin

My name is Charlotte I am 30 yrs old, this is my first pregnancy and we weren't actually TTC (oops) I have been with my husband Chris for 11 years married for 2, he has mental health problems predominantly anxiety & OCD at the moment but was diagnosed as ASD & ADHD last november so lots going on!

in a brief run down to catch up I've been very lucky symptom wise, was extremely tired in first trimester and had waves of nausea on and off but nothing I couldn't handle (I suffer from IBS so used to it!) No actual being sick thankfully because I have a phobia! indigestion/heartburn has been annoying though!!

I have a very high BMI of 48 which I wanted to get much lower before TTC, I had lost 6.5 stone a few years ago but issues at home led to me stopping the gym and crept back to my old eating habits so it all piled on plus more!

I've been very anxious the whole pregnancy so far and still can't really believe it's happening, my husband took a while to come to terms with it too as he has very low self belief and didn't feel he would be capable!

I had spotting on and off every few days between week 6 and 10 ish I didn't keep track fully but had two blood tests 48hrs apart and showed HCG levels increasing so nothing further was done.

fast forward to our 12 wk scan, baby is all fine heart flickering away was lovely to see! However we got a call around a week or so later (she had been trying to get hold of me sooner but was no caller id and i missed the calls) to say that we are high risk for down syndrome (1 in 62)

We didn't want to have invasive testing so opted for the harmony test, I cancelled my gender scan as we would find out the gender from that anyway! typically the woman at ultrasound direct in newbury where we went couldn't get blood from me (I have awkward veins) so we ended up at the hospital phlebotomy department. 6 days later we get a call saying there isn't enough of babies dna in my blood and ill need to send off another sample, they book me an appointment again for the next day but again she couldn't get blood from me, wouldn't do a quick scan as there was no time which upset me because I was very worried as to why it didn't work! Back to phlebotomy we went! One of the vials was defective where she had already tried to use it the vacuum wasn't sucking it up, so that was no good, sent it off anyway just incase. Call the next day sorry can't use it! I got very upset as you can imagine its very stressful waiting for these results! So they posted me a pack to go straight to hospital with. We got there took to number to wait our turn, got called in and was told we have to pay because its a private test, the previous two times no one said anything, so we had to go to a different department to pay £20 which i later got reimbursed by the company.

6 days later I got a phone call apologising that they can't use my blood and to call the lab for an explanation, basically its because of my weight, it won't be the same for everyone but babies DNA takes up less than 4% of my blood so they couldn't do the testing. They said they recommend doing repeat tests 2 weeks apart but ultrasound direct never informed me of this, not that I would have been happy waiting that long! I called my husband who was unsure we should continue depending on the results, and he said we'll just leave it now and what will be, will be.

I then booked a gender scan which we had last Sunday (It's a girl!!) and I am in the process of having the money for the harmony scan refunded. It was £399, and from it I technically got 2 free scans (I asked for a reassurance one after the second blood test was refused which they offered free of charge) So I can't complain too much even though it was a very anxious horrible time! They also threw in the £20 extras for our gender scan so we got a USB with footage on

unhindered · 15/04/2017 16:41

SuziePink Me and my husband had relationship counselling last year, I highly recommend Relate, they also do a bursary if you are on a low income, sorry just catching up from a few weeks ago!

unhindered · 15/04/2017 18:18

Sorry another post from me! Just read through, we are signing up for a hypnobirthing class, my husband has severe anxiety so its for him too, we went to a free trial for the class and he thought it was great!

I was working full time as a goldsmith and running my own jewellery business but it was too stressful I was struggling to fit it all in and had nothing to show for working so hard as my husband isn't working so I decided to hand in my notice and just work for myself at the beginning of Jan! I was very ill over christmas because of all the work I was doing (my busiest time and longer hours at job)

One week later I found out I was pregnant! Although my work didn't pay any extra mat pay anyway so it doesn't really make any difference, and I was so glad I was on count down at the beginning as I was exhausted!! And now I can work as and when I want to although I should have maybe been in the workshop more than I have been but getting better!

Maternity Allowance which I am entitled to is the same as SMP pretty much, up to £140ish a week, and I can have up to 9 months off which I was planning on doing, but I posted in a fb group of fellow jewellers to see what they are doing and was basically told they take like a week off! Confused one woman said she is due on the 9th and has a craft fair on the 19th or something! The women commenting already have other children so I'm sure they know what they are doing, but I don't really know what to do in my situation, if I am entitled to the MA I kind of want to take it and have a reasonable time off, but at the same time I may get bored and I'm not sure if I should take the full 9 months or not! especially as I can sort of work from home (my workshop is at my dads house) and my husband will be on hand too unless he's working part time by then... Also Christmas is my busiest time so thinking of using a chunk of KIT days to get christmas orders done! Decisions decisions!

SayItIsntSo1 · 16/04/2017 07:41

Hello Unhindered, it sounds like you've had a tough time of it so far. I hope it gets better for you. Did you ever get any conclusive answers to your high risk result or are you waiting for cvs?

To those feeling movements, I am 16+6 and wondering if I am started to feel them. Sometimes it's fluttery and others it almost feels like a roll. Does that sound about right?? Doesn't feel quite like a gut movement, but I thought I wouldn't feel anything for ages as I have anterior placenta. It is only when I'm really still and quiet, mostly evenings. Maybe I'm just going a bit nuts hoping to feel something...

I hope everyone has a lovely Easter Sunday. We're doing an egg hunt later with dd and our two nieces. I think it's going to be a fun, chocolate filled day!

MaybeTimeNow · 16/04/2017 07:54

SayIt Fluttery and rolling does indeed sound right, whether it's baby or imagination only you can know 😁 Can't believe the first half of the month are nearly at 20 weeks already, how does it go so slowly and yet so fast all at the same time?

StarWish1 · 16/04/2017 07:55

Happy Easter everyone and welcome unhindered
Say I would say your movements sound like they could well be any. I'm 20 + 5 now and I had some small movements like that from about 16 weeks onwards but they weren't strong enough to be sure. The only thing that made me more sure was sometimes I'd get a little movement/flutter in one particularl spot and 10-30 seconds later the same movement in the same spot - with gas i always feel like the movements ripple across your belly and move around, not repeat in the exact same place. If that makes sense?
I found out at the 20 week scan that I have anterior placenta so I'm only feeling 2 or 3 possible movements a day. Would love to be feeling more!

StarWish1 · 16/04/2017 07:55

Baby not any!

unhindered · 16/04/2017 08:16

Sayitisntso no unfortunately not I'm too late for a cvs now anyway still could have an amnio but neither me or my husband want the invasive testing so we will just see what happens, there's only really a 2% chance baby will have downs do we are clinging on to that and hoping for the best but will deal with it if we need to!

That sounds like the tiny bit of movement I've been feeling too, I just want it to be regular now so I stop worrying all the time!!

Fluffywallow · 16/04/2017 11:38

Welcome unhindered - sounds like you've had quite the journey so far. I don't know if you'd be interested but sally Phillips did a very interesting and insightful BBC documentary recently called 'a world without downs syndrome' - her son has it. If you are trying to find out a bit more about it that's worth a watch. As you say the chances are very slim though.

Essential the only way I've been able to confirm movements are actually movements is that they get stronger week by week. She had a right party past night but they're still not yelp out loud kicks. I'm 19+3 and it's my second baby.

Nothing much else to report here...waiting for the 20 week milestone next week. Scan a week tomorrow. Then my regular scans start shortly afterwards which on one hand will be nice to get reassurance but I know I'll be worried every time that they'll want to deliver baby - as DD1's growth stalled at 34 weeks Shock. Getting superb care this time though so can't complain.

Happy Easter everyone Cake (cake as no chocolate icon I don't think!)

ememem84 · 16/04/2017 20:54

Ooof feeling very ahem blocked up at present. Both sinusey and er..other end.

Spent the last 3 days eating a lot of fruit and nice veggies. Drunk a ton of water and am hoping for the best. Dh bought me some fibregel stuff. It's minging. But hopefully it works.

puttingourhoodupdown · 16/04/2017 21:46

Marking place as I keep falling off!!

EssentialHummus · 16/04/2017 22:28

emem I am currently blocked up at the front end and was blocked up at the, er, other end. I'm looking dead sexy with Vicks and tissues shoved up my nose Grin. Lots of water helped with the constipation.

flymo79 · 17/04/2017 03:55

Ugh. I keep waking at about 3/3:30am and needing a wee then not getting back to sleep. It's a vicious cycle as I've then been going to bed really early as knackered. I can't get through the day at the mo (with a very active 2.8yr old) on not enough sleep. Moan moan moan

ememem84 · 17/04/2017 07:45

essential and flymo Oh I'm so glad someone else is going through this. My sympathies to you both.

I was awake at 4 to have a wee. Got back to sleep at 6 and catface started her breakfast meow at 7. 😭
