I'm probably going to forget again before tomorrow!

For me, the pelvic pain is worst at night and I get shooting pains if try to roll over. I hold onto DH to pull myself over now! Also pain in the coccyx area if I stand up from sitting at my desk for a while. And general pelvis ache if too much walking. It's not pleasant and not too much you can do. Sleep with a pillow between your knees. Physio referral can help, according to friends but some women end up on crutches. I live in a townhouse with a 3 year old and have a 1.5 hour commute each way across train and tube. I'm really hoping against hope mine doesn't get that bad!

ememem84 · 11/04/2017 21:34

I've found a deal with mamas and papas (in a shop local to me so not sure if it's a national thing) pram + 5 accessories (car seat etc) £799. We haven't made any decisions yet but seeing as we also looked at stokke prams at an eye watering £1300 for just the pram we may go for a bundle option.

This is our first baby so we're learning so much. Like prams = expensive.

Frillyhorseyknickers · 11/04/2017 21:38

Evening everyone. I've had really bad pelvic pain, it's worst at the front - sort of on my pubic bone! I've ridden my old boy this evening and it's made it worse.

Booking in with gp this week and I'm convinced that my asthma inhaler has started to really affect my anxiety - anyone else's asthma gone funny since pregnancy?

I took my inhaler this morning as usual before work and I had a client meeting at 10am and barely held my shit together. This week I'm mostly an emotional rollercoaster!

Watching OBEM - not impressed so far!

I bought a pram and a car seat (from a paramedic who gave me a bump belt so pretty sure it's fine) for £50, a video monitor for £50 (it has a blue and green line down the screen that doesn't affect the functionality) and a barely used crib for £90...

When I see my yoga trainer at the weekend I'll ask if there's anything she would specifically recommend for pelvic pain, she's been teaching for a long time and had a baby 3 years ago so should have some suggestions! Last time I was there she got me to lie on my left side with my left leg straight and my right leg bent at 90 degrees and the knee on a bolster.

Not wanting to ask too stupid a question but is the pain from ligaments in the pelvis getting soft?

calimommy · 12/04/2017 04:48

If you have pain in your crotch or front pelvic bone that is due to the ligaments surrounding your pelvis loosening (to later accommodate baby's exit). The pain comes when the front pelvic bones rub against each other as they loosen and become more mobile. There is obviously cartilage between them but it causes pain nonetheless. Pain in the back of the pelvis stems from the same source although there is a large nerve which runs through there and down your buttocks which can become trapped or pinched. Sometimes it leads to full blown sciatica but mostly it's occasional discomfort. Check out some images of the pelvis and pelvic bones on google and it will give you a better idea of what can move and where pain might stem from.

Travelgeek · 12/04/2017 07:09

Ouch! Ladies that all sounds really unpleasant. I've been ok so far but I do hope things are softenening to facilitate baby's exit!

Lovely that you found out its a boy Ruth. I can't wait for my scan a week on Friday.

I have been sleeping in that position you describe suzie, just wirh a pillow under my knee. Though I do have to switch sides in the night or my hips ache and its a bit of a faff to move the pillow about.

em, we are going for a six piece bundle with a mamas and papas pram. Its £150 more for the bigger bundle to get the car seat and iso fix base but the car seat alone is normally more than that.

ememem84 · 12/04/2017 07:57

travel Thanks - I thought the bundle was much better value.

At my apt yesterday midwife asked me about whooping cough vaccine (yes) and whether we are planning on vaccinating baby. Anyone else been asked this?

Apparently where I am (Channel Islands) there is a huge anti vax community.

SuziePink · 12/04/2017 09:52

Not been asked about vaccinations at all, more of a "don't forget to book" kind of thing. Must be a real issue for them to ask you so early on em!

oliversmummy26 · 12/04/2017 10:11

Lauren is this your first baby? It can take longer to feel movements with your first, 2nd timers tend to feel movements earlier because they know what they're looking out for. It feels very much like wind, like someone else said I tend to feel movements in the evening, when I'm sitting on the sofa or lying in bed quietly, or first thing in the morning before I wake up. 10pm is usually baby's wake up time, so am expecting him to be a night owl like his big brother! Hmm I wouldn't worry just yet though, baby is likely fine and you'll feel some movements in a couple of weeks.

I can't wait for DH to be able to feel baby move, I think that's when it will feel really real for him Smile

Ruth glad I'm not the only one with the pelvic pain, mine is all in my "lips" Blush but agony when I cross my legs or put trousers on. Congrats on having a boy! I was the same with DS's clothes, I hadn't realised how much I'd saved, I don't think I need anything new for this baby until he's about 6 months old!

Em the bundles are definitely cheaper, but if you're looking at mamas and papas prams have a look on www.pramcentre.co.uk I've bought my Ocarro bundle from there for about £150 less than it was on mamas and papas website...also ordered and paid a deposit and am paying it off in instalments. No interest or credit agreement they'll just deliver when it's all paid off Smile

Getting pissed off with my stuffy nose at the moment, anyone else suffering with the same? I keep waking in the night unable to breathe!

sherbertlemon17 · 12/04/2017 11:11

Also getting some pain in that area... although it's more like crotch pain than pelvic pain, it feels like a heavy bruise right in front of my pubic bone. It also only happens for a few minutes when I stand up from sitting of lying. I'm guessing it's just pressure and all that extra blood going to that area? Oh the joys!

MUST REMEMBER TO BOOK WHOOPING COUGH JAB! Is there a week it needs to be done by?

oliversmummy26 · 12/04/2017 11:21

Sherbert I think my MW told me to get whopping cough vaccine in after 21 weeks?

SuziePink · 12/04/2017 13:06

My midwife said whooping cough needed to be done between 20 and 34 weeks I think. Any later and you risk the baby not being fully immune.

I've done plenty of anatomy but I never realised the cartilage joint between the two sides of the pelvic bone could start to soften this early on. sherbertlemon17 the weight of the baby certainly doesn't help!

I'm suffering with a stuffy nose oliversmummy26 and have to be careful when I get up. I usually have BP on the low side of normal (100/60 isn't unusual for me) which hasn't changed. It's interesting how wearing a fitbit makes you more aware of changes to your heartrate, mine's gone from 60bpm to 67-69bpm and when I went for a long walk with one of my friends on Friday I felt decidedly unfit walking uphill!

sherbertlemon17 · 12/04/2017 16:32

Brilliant thanks Olivers & Suzie. Funnily enough I had a reminder letter through from my Drs this morning saying to get it done between 16 & 34 weeks. Must make sure I get it booked in!

WhatwouldRuthdo · 12/04/2017 18:40

Thanks Olivers Smile
And thank you for all the reminders everyone- I actually booked my whooping cough jab. We've got quite a big timeframe to get it booked into but I know I'd continue to forget. Now I just need to remember to take my rings off before my fingers swell up too much this time...
Hope everyone's stuffy noses clear up.

StarWish1 · 12/04/2017 19:15

Good to hear everyone's well Smile
I'm 20 weeks now and the anomaly scan was all fine Grin
Having the whooping cough vaccine this week - just called my gp and arranged it with them. I hate needles so I'm hoping it's nice and easy

Fluffywallow · 12/04/2017 19:16

Yes whatwould me too with the ring thing - I got to 30 weeks last time but don't think I will this time! Did yours get stuck on last time?

WhatwouldRuthdo · 12/04/2017 19:40

Congrats on the scan Star.
And yup Fluffy they got stuck tight. It took a whole day and every type of lubricant I could think of in order to prise them off. Blush

Fluffywallow · 12/04/2017 20:13

Congrats on the scan star!

Oh blimey what would that must have been awful! I might take mine off sooner rather than later then!

Lules · 13/04/2017 08:06

Had the birth options clinic yesterday. Lots to think about. Don't know whether to go for a VBAC or ELCS. I thought I wanted an ELCS but now I don't know.

Fluffywallow · 13/04/2017 09:15

Lules its a tough one. If it's any help my mind was made up (after ALOT of thought) by watching an old episode of one born every minute. It wasn't a traumatic episode or anything but I managed about 10 minutes of it before panic set in and I just knew then that I couldn't go through it again.

I'm in the process of getting my elcs signed off and it's a long process (lots of people to see and discussions to have). So if you decide to go elcs be prepared for lots of appts. I saw a specialist mental health midwife yesterday which was draining (had to go over my dds birth again) but she made some good points and signed me up for additional post natal support which is good. I felt like she was really on my side.

Maybe write a list of pros and cons? Also read the NICE guidelines as they are helpful.

oliversmummy26 · 13/04/2017 09:22

Great news on the good anomaly scan Star Smile
I hadn't thought about rings getting stuck, I didn't have any last time! I hate the thought of not wearing them for months Sad I think I have a dress engagement ring somewhere which might fit me up til the end. I take mine off for putting hand cream on fairly regularly, so hopefully I'll know when they're getting too tight!
Lules saw your post in the ELCS or VBAC thread and thought I recognised the name! When is your next appointment with them, did you say 34 weeks? I have my VBAC clinic in 3 weeks and am leaning towards ELCS, my worst fear is having hours of labour and then ending up with an EMCS anyway, so I kind of think, why not just get booked in for one! Did they have your notes from your previous birth? I'm hoping they do for mine as it would be interesting to know exactly why I had an EMCS/baby got stuck - was it due to his size or a funny position. I guess if the position was wrong then there's a chance I could deliver this one myself - I just don't know!!

Fluffywallow · 13/04/2017 10:03

I've just had a look at your thread Olivers - sounds like it might be different when you are getting the ok for a elcs after a emcs. Hopefully less people to see and less boxes to tick if you decide to opt for it.

Fluffywallow · 13/04/2017 10:05

And on the subject of rings Olivers I bought a cheapy replacement that I wore when the others didn't fit. I feel odd without a ring on my wedding finger! Just need to find it now...

Lules · 13/04/2017 10:16

fluffy from what they've said it doesn't seem like it's a difficult process to get an ELCS approved given my previous birth. It seems pretty much up to me.

oliversYes next appointment is at 34 weeks. They didn't have my previous notes because of confusion over where I gave birth but they should have done. I think I'm going to get them myself. The thing I was worried about most too was being in labour for ages and then having a EMCS, but they were very reassuring about that and said they wouldn't leave it ages because of the risk of rupture anyway. They did reassure me quite a lot which is why I don't know what to do now.

oliversmummy26 · 13/04/2017 11:23

I am constantly flipping between one and the other just when I think I've made up my mind, I think well maybe I ought to try VBAC...
But having a date booked with a 5 year old who will be just back at school will make my life so much easier. I have heard so many lovely stories of ELCS and that the recovery is so much easier as you're not knackered from being in labour for possibly days...having said that I would love to be able to push a baby out and be home within hours rather than at least 1 night. It's such a difficult decision!
What annoys me is that if I hadn't had the EMCS last time then I wouldn't be having this conversation with myself now Confused
