Mid-Late November due dates

AGnu · 13/03/2017 16:35

I see there's a thread for early November due dates but I can't see that anyone's started one for the later dates yet. Not sure yet if this one will stick around but if it does it'll be our DC3, due around the 18th.

Someone come chat to me?!

Thanks User. I'm definitely going to look into it. DP and I are on opposite ends of the hippy dippy spectrum so I'm really hoping I can get the doc on board. But this is the US and I suspect I might have to look into an alternative practice/hospital to go to.

We are on a three week countdown until we tell people. I'm booked for a scan in 3 weeks which will let us know the downs etc risk. I'm having the blood test too and should get the results before the scan.

Just one more day of work then I get to spend a week in comfy/running clothes. I can't wait. Although, I've just read the temp in Florida is expected to be in the 90's (about 30). In going to melt. Thankfully, the races start at 5am and we should be done before it gets too hot.

activewear is my saviour! good luck with the races @stuckinny Smile I need to arrange those tests soon, fingers crossed all comes back OK for you x

I've been putting off going to mothercare in case we bump into anyone we know. Just told DH that we need to go tomorrow so I can get some yoga pants. I bought some from there about 6 years ago & wore them so much even between pregnancies that I've been wanting an excuse to buy more! Might buy several pairs & put some away until the others wear out!

I'm towards the hippy end of the scale but I didn't do proper hypnobirthing. I do have a tendency to lie down & ignore everything else when in pain & found that I went into a trance like state with both my labours, unless people disturbed me. More than once people looked at me weird for refusing gas & air, it just seemed like an unnecessary distraction at the time!

Great to read the comments about hypno birthing. My midwife recommended it as well so I need to do some investigating!

MrsC1982 · 14/04/2017 08:48

So, whatever that appointment was it wasn't useful... height/weight the booked in to come to my house on 24th...

Confused AF.

She seemed nice though Grin

NoCatsHere · 14/04/2017 14:12

I don't think hypno birthing is hippy at all. It's just about having the knowledge that what your body is up to is normal, even if it hurts like hell it will pass and in order to get to those restful parts good breathing and being calm will stand you in much better sted than panicking about it all. I did a little with my first and although I didn't get the home water birth it certainly helped all the way through labour and my emcs.

TeaAndPjs · 14/04/2017 15:57

agnu could you order online from Mothercare to save you bumping into anyone? I've been pretty lucky as I've got maternity stuff from last time and bought more before I had MC last time so I'm all sorted thankfully

stuckinny · 14/04/2017 16:12

Thanks user.

I hope everyone has a lovely (long) easter weekend. It's just a regular weekend here so I'm thinking of you all whilst I sit in the office.

modelcat · 14/04/2017 16:18

Hypnobirthing is definitely not a hippy thing to do I think - it helps you to calm yourself and get into a zone where you feel positive and concentrated on birthing. There can be so much anxiety and many distractions in the delivery room that can make you feel out of your comfort zone. I think anything that helps you to feel calm and centred is helpful.

modelcat · 14/04/2017 16:19

That wasn't a criticism by the way of calling it a hippy thing - it was meant to be reassuring :)

MrsGB2225 · 14/04/2017 18:29

I tried the hypo cd at my NCT class last time and couldn't really focus. But when I was having contractions I would shut my eyes, breath and imaging the tide going up and down the sand. Weirdly it really helped! I also had a water birth, when I loved, but it's so unglamorous climbing out of the pool afterwards!

Mummyagainmaybe · 14/04/2017 18:46

Water birth here too last time @MrsGB2225. Really hope I have one this time too. But yes, not very glamorous. Very welcome bath after.

stuckinny · 14/04/2017 19:17

I would love a waterbirth, or at least the opportunity to try. Not sure how lucky I'll be. I'll definitely be asking the doc about it at the end of the month.

modelcat · 14/04/2017 19:44

I'd have given my back teeth for a water birth last time. I ended up strapped to a bed then EMCS.

Spotting again ☹️

AGnu · 14/04/2017 19:50

The idea of water births has never appealed to me but then I'm not one for water deeper than a bath at the best of times! The thought of slipping or accidentally splashing my face while contracting would be too distracting for me. My friend has laboured in a pool twice but had to get out both times after the head was out because the babies' shoulders were stuck!

Foggymist · 14/04/2017 19:58

I'd love a water birth or most of all I'd have loved a home birth (not in water), had an emcs last time, it'll either be the same this time or a seriously monitored hospital birth. I wouldn't mind an elcs.

lydiangel83 · 14/04/2017 20:06

What's emcs and elcs?!

stuckinny · 14/04/2017 20:30

I'm sorry modelcat. I hope it stops soon

Emcs for me too, after a terrible two and a half day induction. Have been offered elcs if I want it. I told him I wasn't sure but am very sure I'm not being induced again. No way will I go through that again.

Lydiangel83, emergency c-section and elective c-section. Basically any c-section not scheduled ahead of time is an emcs.

Foggymist · 14/04/2017 20:33

Further to the c section explanations above there are two types of emcs too, a crash section where they immediately whisk you straight to surgery with just your signature, and a kind of not so urgent emergency which I had, I was given 9 hours notice of mine.

Mummyagainmaybe · 14/04/2017 22:08

@modelcat hope it stops soon x

I wasn't in the pool long butime the pain relief of being in hot water is huge. Gas and air doesn't really touch it, but the hot water was amazing.

I was really lucky that I pushed 3 times and she was out. The midwife threatened to get me out of the pool and that was enough motivation for me to push as hard as I could. I don't know how lucky I'll be this time though. Starting to wake up to the fact that just because I was lucky once...

I did have terrible pelvic girdle pain at the end of my pregnancy. Not a lot of stability in my hips then and they're starting to niggle already :(

modelcat · 14/04/2017 22:14

I gave hip dysplasia so I was in agony by the time I got to due date last time, especially as I put on 3.5 stone! Going to aim for less this time. My DS was 9lb10oz though.

My EMCS was the crash kind - they tried forceps, ventouse then whipped him out the sun roof.

Foggymist · 14/04/2017 22:28

Mine was ok, except waiting through then night for 9 hours being told to relax but on a 15 min blood pressure monitor was awful! I was shaking with fear and exhausted by the time I was brought down. But now cs is the devil I know so isn't too bad, I'd be more scared of a natural delivery now!

Mummyosborne1983 · 14/04/2017 23:19

I had a natural delivery with my first born and an elcs (elective section) with my second.
This time I have a choice as to whether I want a vbac (vaginal birth after c-section) or another elcs.
I'm not sure what I'll decide - depends on the risks.
I had a bad tear in my bottom from constipation 😫 and the concern was I'd tear all the way up further and need emergency surgery so that's why I had an elcs and didn't labour like my first - not many know that... bit of an embarrassing thing to say!!
I was also monitored a lot in my second pregnancy as my first born arrived 5 weeks early for an unknown reason - he was perfectly well and needed no assistance, just had a bit of jaundice and was a bit of a dot at 5lb 6oz...
Gave us a fright though!
I was so unprepared, everything was ordered and paid for but nothing had arrived... my husband had to go into Mothercare and they lent him a car seat until ours arrived - normal procedure apparently, which we thought was fantastic!!
Happy Easter everyone Flowers xx
Hope all is okay with everyone xx

NiceCuppaTeaAndASitDown · 15/04/2017 06:37

Should I phone my midwife or is this normal?

I've been having loads of faint/dizzy spells but assumed this was normal after consulting dr google - but last night I got up at 1am to use the loo and either stood up afterwards and fainted, or fainted straight off it. I don't remember.

Poor DH heard a huge crash and kept out of bed to help, but couldn't get in the bathroom for a few minutes as I was out cold and sort of wedged between the door and radiator, which I'd fallen and busted my lip/nose on so he could just see me and some blood.
After a couple of minutes I realised he was calling me and sort of shuffle/crawled away so he could get in, but after he got me up and we were half way to bed, apparently I went down again, with my eyes rolling back into my head and I was shaking/shivering and out cold for another couple of minutes.

I've felt pretty terrible for the last few days but I don't know how terrible is normal. DH and my DM always say that if I'm feeling a 7/10 I'll crack on and present like it's a 3/10, which means I really don't ever know how bad I am in relation to other people.

DH thinks I should call the midwife and let her know - I'm still not sure about wasting her time on Easter weekend, but I do honestly feel pretty dreadful - focusing enough to write this has brought me out in a cold, clammy sweat.

Any advice would be really welcome. Thank you

Mummyagainmaybe · 15/04/2017 06:59

@nicecuppateaandasitdown I think you should be at a&e or phoning the epu. Waiting on a midwife on easter weekend doesn't seem quick enough. You shouldn't be fainting. It might just be anemia but you shouldn't be fainting. Phone someone. Please x
