Plus size pregnancy

Hi everyone. I'm 5w5d and currently a size 20. When we decided to start trying I expected it to take at least 6 months....we fell pregnant straight away - first time we tried. Hubby is now congratulating his 'super sperm' on a daily basis (I had nothing to do with it obvs!😂

I've tried to find a thread for plus size pregnancies and can't find one so thought I'd start one up

I really hope I get a nice bump and don't just look and feel fatter x

I had my antenatal home visit by the health visitor today, who commented on my 'nice small, neat bump!' Wow! Only time since I entered puberty that any part of my stomach has been thought of as small!

I've got another growth scan on Thursday, when I will be almost 34 weeks. I'm not sure if that will be it then until the birth? I hope so.

Cagliostro · 16/05/2017 20:59

MW did say it is often tricky at this stage to hear it. Which makes you wonder why they do but I'm happy.

Well done kits is an antenatal HV visit a regular thing? (I have forgotten all this stuff!)

peaceloveandbiscuits · 16/05/2017 21:32

I didn't have an antenatal visit first time around, but I've had one this time, probably (again) MH related, though. None of my friends who've had second babies recently had one.

Kitsandkids · 16/05/2017 22:08

In my area I think everyone gets a HV visit pre birth, unless you ring to cancel when you get the appointment through.

Emma2803 · 16/05/2017 23:29

Hello everyone!! Newbie alert! I'm 7 weeks pregnant with dc2 and the weight is creeping on already!! I'm currently a 16/18 in trousers.
In my first pregnancy I put on over 4.5 stone!!! Needless to say I'm very worried about a similar weight gain this time round

I joined ww in January and managed to lose almost two stone but was still a stone over pre pregnancy weight from dc1 who just turned 2!!! (which incidentally was still about 2.5 stone overweight!)

So my bmi was 32 when I got pregnant and it's slowly creeping up.

I find myself so hungry at the minute! It's very hard not to graze all day.
In an ideal world I would be able to resist the temptation to eat the bad things

MrsB12345 · 17/05/2017 23:01

Hi @Emma2803 welcome. I'm 15 weeks st the mo and the constant feeling of starvation is always lingering but I try to balance my carb obsession with fruit and veg to try to keep the weight down x

Hi,

5.5weeks with DC1 and a size 20.

Trying all I can to eat well. I have written a months worth of meal plans... fingers crossed I can stick to it.

I am certain the health of the bean will motivate me to stick to it. Make sure they have all they need even if it means swapping sweets for salad :)

No morning sickness so far... fingers crossed! :)

Can I ask for any recommendations on where is good for plus size maternity clothes?
I'm 15+5 and have really noticed the waist of my clothes are uncomfortable now. I lost quite a bit of weight last year so still have some tops I can fit into but trousers are an issue!

MrsB12345 · 26/05/2017 17:52

@FlightlessBird I got some from Next but Asda is also very good x

No fankles here yet but I have been fairly irratable Blush Not sure if it's the weather ir pregnancy in general

Dabarai · 28/05/2017 19:36

Hello everyone, can I join please? I just found out I am pregnant with DC2, I am size 20 at the mo... With the first one I joined ww beforehand and was ok weight-wise, used most of my bigger clothes instead of maternity ones! This time I just didn't expect this so soon...

MrsB12345 · 29/05/2017 06:53

Welcome @Dabarai how far gone are you?x

OP posts:
Cagliostro · 29/05/2017 17:56

Welcome!

I bought some clothes today. Turns out our local Asda doesn't do maternity clothes in store :( but I'm not showing yet so I've just for some bigger clothes for now, I am normally a 20 but went for 24. I got one loose tunic dress, two pairs of cropped leggings and two loose summery trousers. The trousers can pull up over the bump.

Oh god though I tried on shorts and I am just horrified at how horrible my legs are! I have lived in jeans for so long and I just think of my tummy as the fat bit of me and it came as quite a shock. It's not pregnancy related it's just that my legs are massive :(

MrsB12345 · 03/06/2017 22:01

Hi everyone. How's everything going?

I've had gastroenteritis this weekend. It's been horrific but am over the worse of it

Have a good weekend all xx

Hi!
I'm firmly into the home stretch now, almost 39 weeks!! Although I never thought I'd feel like this, im desperate for him to arrive...

MrsB12345 · 04/06/2017 08:23

Exciting week or so ahead @Prty. Good luck x

Cagliostro · 04/06/2017 08:55

Oooh exciting! Not long now!

I am feeling very fat. Nausea seems to mostly be gone now. I don't feel pregnant! Not sure if the wiggles I'm feeling are actually the baby or not.

MrsB12345 · 04/06/2017 11:03

How far are you @cagliostro?

OP posts:
Cagliostro · 04/06/2017 11:18

17 weeks, so quite plausible that I am feeling the baby (as it's my 3rd) but not sure really. I'm so much more anxious this time round I have no idea what I'm doing!

Crunchymum · 05/06/2017 15:28

Hello ladies, I've found my people.

I also have the joy of being "geriatric" too Grin

I'm place marking to come back and read properly later.

Mustang27 · 05/06/2017 16:17

Hi mrsb I just wanted to check in with you to tell you not to worry to much about pregnancy gain as sometimes it not food related at all. I gained four st and had really bad HG from the start and could barely eat from start to finish. As long as you are eating healthy as you can and looking after yourself that's all that matters.

anxiousandpregnant · 05/06/2017 16:34

Hi everyone, im currently 22 + 2 and im size 16/18, I had actually started to loose weight before falling pregnant, had lost around half a stone, put the half a stone back on now though. My BMI at booking was 34, I've had to see a consultant to determine what extra care ill need throughout the pregnancy, no extra scans etc. but they want to do the GTT test to check for diabetes but I don't feel like I have it tbh! Trying to look after myself but cravings are starting to take over now! It's nice to know im not alone :)

MrsB12345 · 10/06/2017 16:12

Thanks @Mustang27 x

@Crunchymum how old are you? I'm 35 which I know isn't old but according to all the 'when's more risky to get pregnant stats etc' I'm old x

OP posts:
Bumdishcloths · 10/06/2017 16:40

22+3 here and 33yo with complicated family medical history, eating far, far better than I did before I was pregnant but still feel enormous. I was a size 18-20-22 dependent on clothing type prior to pregnancy, still fitting most of my old clothes as I buy everything too big anyway. I think I'm just worried that my pregnancy isn't 'normal' like 'everyone' else's because I'm having extra growth scans and it's hard to get photos as the image quality is poor. Quite disheartening - and then I feel guilty and ungrateful because I'm so scared something will go wrong if I feel too hard done by etc etc. Ugh.
