Hello
Just found out I am expecting first week in Nov...too early to start a thread?? Anyone else out there?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
littleoldme · 17/05/2007 18:28

Had my 12 week scan today. The good news is it isn't twins - we have them in my family and the midwife thought it might be. It was bouncing about like a good un'

My dates are exactly as I thought. I'm due on the 28th. Will you still talk to me if I slip into December?

I think TV presenters probabaly benefit from nannies and pro make-up artists. They should try standing up infront of 32 15 year olds and feeling like your about to chuck. Bet they wouldn't be so smiley then.

My brain is definately turning mushy. I went to go and get the washing from the machine this morning and actually had the oven door and my hand inisde before I realised I had the wrong appliance.

As far as BF goes. It doesn't bother me as long as people are discreet. I also think that a relaxed bottle feeding mother is of more benfit to a baby than a mothe erthat's stressed out sore and exhausted because Bf is prob.

choudru · 17/05/2007 18:31

I was so distraught at not being able to continue with BF that everytime DS got a sniffle I was convinced it was because I had damaged his immune system with evil formula milk!

Yes geekinpigtails, that is why I mentioned 6 months. I will be aiming to achieve that this time but if I don't manage it, I won't beat myself up about it like last time.

2.5 years??!!!!

Anyway ladies - just went to Boots to get some vagisil because thrush is persisting. Got to the counter and realised the woman serving me was at primary school with me

Now she knows I have a itchy fanjo.

choudru · 17/05/2007 18:35

Congrats on the scan littleoldme - it seems there are no twins on the thread then...

Was hoping someone would produce the goods just for the variation.

If you can handle 32 15 year olds then this baby will be no trouble ;)

littleoldme · 17/05/2007 18:55

Choudru - maybe she thought you were buying it for a house-bound maiden aunt and now deeply respects you for your kindness.

I like the term fanjo. I always use moo myself .

purplepants · 17/05/2007 21:56

hi all - just a quickie before bed (such a wuss these days)
littleoldme - glad your scan went well - and that you weren't accosted by any earthies !!

lol at your post RGPargy - though sorry you felt pressured - I am probably what you'd term an earthy . I bf both mine. 6mths DD & 10 mths DS. It would have been aiming to bf this one too.

I agree that bf can be difficult and it's a very emotive subject, particularly because breasts have been, and still are, so sexualised. However, I would defend any woman's right to feed her baby, breast or bottle, wherever and whenever she likes (though I'd draw the line at doing it in a loo - I wouldn't want to eat my lunch there!)

nykate · 17/05/2007 22:42

littleoldme- great news on your scan!
rgpargy- glad you're staying on Nov thread!

Regarding breasts: I've never heard anything about underwire bras being an issue...is there a recommendation not to wear them when pg or bfing?

And, just a bf note to those first timers- Breastfeeding can be a bit tricky to get in the beginning. With support, you can usually work it out if you choose to. If you choose not to, that's fine as well. I am not an earth type, but did BF DD1 for 12months and DD2 for 9 months. If you can get through the initial 3 months when it seems completely unfair that you are an on-demand feed bag, it seems to me that it's easier than bottle feeding. No worries when out and about or traveling, cheaper, and less washing up. Just a thought. Oh,yeah, it's good for the baby too .

RGPargy · 18/05/2007 01:16

hi everyone!

Just thought i'd get a quick post in while i'm waiting for a Prison Break download

Whilst i'm not averse to BF, like purplepants pointed out, they have become very sexualised and i think that this is where (my) problem lies. Also, the thought of them being all sore and cracked etc is a BIG off-put lol.

But hey, when it comes to the crunch i might take to it like a duck to water or i might not. either way, I'll still have a bash.

RGPargy · 19/05/2007 11:31

Morning everyone!

How are we all?

sparklygothkat · 19/05/2007 12:55

the pain on my side has returned Was resting in bed, till DH's friend phoned and asked him to come help lift something, so am now resting on the sofa with the laptop.

RGPargy · 19/05/2007 14:10

no lifting for you then!! Get well soon!!

x

choudru · 19/05/2007 16:23

Hope you're resting Sparkly - you are unlucky getting aches and pains so early in the pregnancy.

RGPargy - I think you should be dowloading 'The Earth Mother's Guide to Breastfeeding' instead of Prison Break

Hope everyone is having a lovely saturday afternoon. I am watching the F.A.Cup final while DS has a nap. DH has gone out to do some DIY so it's all peace and quiet at the moment.

Feeling okay today - only mild nausea - just feels like I've eaten too much.

Got 16 week antenatal appointment on monday and I've lost the little bottle she gave me for my wee sample. Oops.

littleoldme · 19/05/2007 17:20

Sparkly - hope you feel better soon.

My DH is doing DIY as well. I had great fun going to B&Q with him and watching him lift cement and paving slabs and not being able to help.

I had my first cup of tea in 12 weeks this morning then had to go to the loo 3 times in half an hour. No booze ,no tea no blue cheese - are there no pleasures available to us pg ladies?

Choudru - glad the nausea is subsiding.

RGPargy · 19/05/2007 17:21

choudru - the match is the most boring i've ever dozed off through!!

Hope you're enjoying the P&Q!

I have another scan on tuesday as LO wasn't big enough apparently for them to take measurements etc from. Fingers crossed for that!

choudru · 19/05/2007 18:26

Good luck with your scan RGPargy.

Littleoldme - I left DH to tackle B&Q on his own because he spends so long in there I lose the will to live. Bet you were gutted you couldn't help...

It was a boring match. DS slept all the way through and woke up in time to see Chelsea score.

Which brings up another problem - I don't know which team to brainwash him into supporting. I'm from Manchester, husband is from Burnley, DS was born in London and now we live in Leeds.

It's SUCH a responsibility

littleoldme · 19/05/2007 20:48

Did someone metion football? It's been wall to wall test match special over here.

Have a happy Sunday. We're off to Chester Zoo by way of a first anniversary celebration. There have been many bad jokes about then not letting DH leave.

AnnainNZ · 22/05/2007 00:42

Did anyone else get a bump REALLY suddenly, like overnight? I was still wearing my normal jeans till last Saturday (though they were getting a little bit tight), then woke up Sunday and couldn't do them up at all. So on with the maternity jeans. Definite bump now, which is kind of exciting though I'm sure I won't think so in 20 weeks time!

choudru · 22/05/2007 11:33

AnnainNZ - are you kidding me - my stomach is as flat as a washboard - NOT!

My bump popped out about a month ago but has grown a bit since then. There's no hiding it now!

Littleoldme - hope your anniversary was fun. Enjoy the romantic outings while you can!

I had 16 week antenatal appointment yesterday. Heard the heartbeat again which was nice and reassuring. The midwife doesn't want to see me again until I'm 28 weeks

Also yesterday was another milestone. It was the first time since becoming pregnant that I have done myself up and gone out. Drove into Manchester to meet some girlie mates for a long lunch. Was soo refreshing - felt human again!

apeainapod · 22/05/2007 12:32

Hi all.

Glad to see we're popping out all over the place!! More on that later.........

Well yet again it has been rather hectic over here. DS2 (yes he of the willy fame)decided that there wasn't much excited on Friday afternoon so decided to ahve another accident! He was racing down the driveway on his little fire engine - hit a bump, and fell flat on his head! Blood gushing everywhere, massive great hole and a rather weird look on his face ie: eyes rolling into the back of his head!

Typically it was the Nanny's day off so I had all 3 rushing into the car racing to the hospital. I legged it into the building (the other 2 stayed in the car with the driver - who just kept praying - how unnerving. No bloody Doctors - they were having lunch! Sod the lunch - my Tshirt was now wringing wet with blood! Eventually found the same nurse that had treated him 10 days earlier, but then the duty doctor wouldn't do anything because I HADN'T COLLECTED HIS SODDING FILE FROM RECEPTION! FGS!!!!

Anyway DH came rushing in, a friend had taken the other 2 back to my house to eat etc.. Three hours later X-rays etc etc DS2 skips out of there with a shaved head and a massive great wad of iodine and dressing!! Little monster.

The weekend was lovely, very enjoyable with lots of friends and laughter. We also saw the Beatrix Potter movie - how lovely.

Yesterday - appointment to see my Obs. So DH and Obs laughing at the size of me and then Obs tells me I HAVE AN 18/19 WEEK OLD BUMP - I'm 16 weeks tomorrow. . i still have only put on 4lbs. THEN Obs drops the bombshell adn startes talking about gestational diabetes!!! Bugger. I ahve to have a scan on Saturday (not such a bad thing) and I have to do my normal bloods and do a sugar test. I will wait until I get to back to London for my 20 scan to do the longer test. That was a bit of a schock to the system I can tell you!

So that brings me to today. DS1 is having separation issues at school. His teacher really meanly turned round and said 'there's no need for him to complain - he gets to do his own thing in class all of the time. He never does what the other children do"! . So basically I am paying $11,000 for my child to sit gluing for 5 hours a day!!! He's in school not bloody playgroup! The principal happened to walk past just as I was leaving, so I mentioned it. She then bloody said "do you not think it's because of the baby - it's making you over react". Bloody bloody bloody hell!!

I'm off to collect them all now, wish me luck!!

Have a lovely afternoon x

apeainapod · 22/05/2007 12:34

Gosh that was quite long - sorry!

HollyGoHeavily · 22/05/2007 17:29

Hi

I'm very jealous that you have got a definite baby bump - i think my tummy bump is still just made up of pies and chocolate

nykate · 22/05/2007 18:22

apeainapod- My goodness! DS has really been keeping you busy! Hope he's feeling well. Sorry to hear you have to worry about g.diabetes...good luck. Are you back and forth between two different places? You must be very organized! I can barely keep it together here!

My bump seems really big to me- like how I looked at 20 weeks with DDs, but I'm not quite 16! However, I'm def still at that 'is she pregnant or fat' phase with clothes on, so hoping to pop a bit more in the next few weeks.

aikigypsy · 23/05/2007 01:39

I just squeezed into a pair of normal, non-pregnant pants today, but they are coming apart at the seams so I think they've stretched, and they're very tight. My body has changed shape, but I don't look pregnant yet, not to people who don't know me well. However my left boob in particular is roughly the size of my 1-litre teapot, and the right one looks like it's trying to catch up.

I'm looking forward to looking a bit more pregnant so the passers-by have something else to look at!

Meanwhile I am thinking about going to a convention which is going to happen a week before my due date. Is that completely insane?

littleoldme · 23/05/2007 10:14

Ape - Sounds like Ds enjoys his dramas. Hope he's on the mend. Sounds like his teacher isn't paying too much attention to his emotional well being. If he isn't doing what the others do then what is he / she doing to include him?

Glad to hear the bumps are appearing. I just look like I've eaten too many Quality Streets ( which I have but I am only 13 weeks.

Had a bit of a do yesterday. After a long and trying day at work which included running out my year 10 lesson to chuck up -I had some spotting which scared me as I'd felt quite tight and uncomfortable all day. I was in such a tizzy that i gave the surgery DHs mobile n.o for the doc to call me on. Anyway to cut a long a not V interesting story short I got an emergency appt and the heartbeart was fine. I only had my 12 week scan last week so they said all was well.

Now I feel like someone has wrung me out and chucked me in the bin. Makes on rather neurotic this pg biz.

HollyGoHeavily · 23/05/2007 11:19

Is anyone else taking any medication? I have horrible hayfever and it's starting to effect my sleep - i keep waking up gasping for breath which is making me exhausted and freaks out DP when he hears me struggling to breathe. I went to my doctor who said there was nothing she could prescribe but told me to go see the local pharmacist who may have something. He recommended a nasal spray and told me to use just once each night - but warned that the paperwork says it is not proven safe in pregnancy .

I'm not sure what to do - I don't want to do anything to risk the health of the baby but i don't want to suffer unnecessarily..... anyone experienced anything similar?

littleoldme · 23/05/2007 11:24

Apeainapod. just realised I called you ape. Sorry!!!!
