Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
RGPargy · 15/05/2007 11:45

Had my first scan last night, but the sonographer is correct, then i might be defecting to the December 07 thread

See my post HERE

SparklyGothKat · 15/05/2007 14:55

choudru, am one of the lucky ones, i guess, I pop in and out with each pregnancy, I normally don;t even show this early, I was about 24 weeks before I showed with DS.

apeainapod · 15/05/2007 17:28

Hi all - welcome to the new ladies. RG - what???? defecting already? We'll wait and see in anticipation!

With DD there was only one time I could have conceived and that was 8 days after LMP, I was all over the shop with scans etc - she was 10 days late which didn't match ANY of the info we'd had for 9 months!

DH b'day dinner was a little bit tense - the new Nanny (of 2 weeks) had her day off on Friday - and arrived one hour late to babysit. It had been raining here all day, therefore the traffic was horrendous getting to the restaurant - so we actually turned up 45 minutes late - not good! The food was bloody awful, and very slow - bu the time te main course arrived I was nearly asleep on the table. There were very many giggles though which made up for it all......

DS2 is well and truly mended!! NOW though he refuses to take off his 'piglet' plaster in case his willy falls off (ooops shouldn't have madet hat threat!)

DD (20 months) has potty trained herself! Last Monday she said NO very strongly at the prospect of wearing a nappy and found her new 'pants in waiting'. She has only had 2 accidents since then! I'm very proud and smug!! Just to add that that was the same day that a container from the UK arrived with a ton of nappies, baby wipes etc.... Guess this little one will be using them in a couple of years time!

Not feeling very pregnant anymore although I have an enormous bump! I really have no appetite and have actually lost weight - all in all I have now put on 2 kgs. I hope everything is allright. I think I'll book a scan for Thursday just to check. (Sorry typing out loud).

15 weeks tomorrow - Good God - where did the time go! That means 16 weeks next week - which = 4 months!

Decorated our new house in the UK for our return. Well I say we have - we have found a an to fit the bathrooms and another man to paint. DH got so bored with looking at 100's of pictures from magazines - it looks like we will be a Laura Ashley showhome!!

Sorry some of you are not feeling well still, I hope it passes soon. xx

I'm making Jewish Chicken soup tonight - with a nice crusty baguette. Now THAT is tempting..........

purplepants · 15/05/2007 21:30

Hi all

RGPargy - congrats on the "all's well scan" but don't go!!!!! you'll have a November baby I'm sure (on my birthday, 29th - how's that for a prediction! )

choudru - 20 week scan on 17th June here - blimey the weeks are starting to fly aren't they! (or is it just me)- fancy thinking up a name for a new "2nd trimester" thread?

apeainapod - your DH just wasn't meant to have a perfect birthday celebration this year was he - good job he's got you though eh
I'm so with you on the enormous bump front. I look about 5 mths already ( SparklyGothKat I am v of your "cute little bump") mine's just really embarassing adn I've gone up 4 cup sizes too . I keep expecting people to say "due soon?" Though I was massive with both the others (non-pg from behind but like a whale from the side) I'm sure I wasn't this huge so early before (quietly concerned about diabetes again) but then I am geriatric (pauses to adjust bifocals)as my kind young gp told me. When do you move back to blighty? (sorry if you've mentioned this a million times already but I coudn't find it, looking back) it sounds idyllic to move into a freshly decorated home.

JARM - hi & welcome to the thread

Anyone else started going all stepford & nesty yet or is it just me reacting massively to hormones again (with DS I turned into Norman Bates on acid - manic hardly begins to desctribe it - DD was on the verge of leaving home!) I spent 2 hours cooking dinner last night (it was only monday FGS!) I even cleaned the lounge - for the second time that day whilst he put DS to bed & got him a beer as soon as he came down (all but warm his slippers & massage his temples!) I then sorted DD's dinner when she came in from work at 8.30 & blitzed the kitchen!! (sooo not me!) I have clearly been taken over by an alien (homely, helpful - and truly vomit worthy) I'll be bloody ironing next aaaggghh!!!!!

nykate · 16/05/2007 10:16

Purplepants- my DH would LOVE if it I could be a bit more like you . I would too as am now trying to ignore HUGE basket of ironing. I'm getting pretty good at it . I'm becoming increasingly useless as am still sick and also sick of being sick. Each day brings new hope, though!

GermanGal · 16/05/2007 11:16

Ok girls - here comes the question I haven't dared to ask yet! Purplepants - it was your thread which made me wonder
Who else has gone up 4 cup sizes yet???? My boobs have hardly changed at all so far!!!! Yes they are sore and very sensitive, but when are they going to change???? I was SO looking forward to an ample cleavage for once!!!! Arrrrrggghhh!!!! Does that mean I won't be able to breastfeed???? Can they still change lateron in pregnancy?? I haven't really gained much weight yet (definitely eating for two though - I'm just not a "weight gainer").... I definitely notice a change in my tummy now though (trousers don't fit well anymore)....
Where are my boobs????????

Fingernails · 16/05/2007 11:20

Oh GermanGal you can have some of mine - from 32E (which was frankly ample as it was) - I'm at 34FF and I'm only TWELVE WEEKS IN - was on the phone to my bf last night and she happily informed me that they get even bigger later on and breastfeeding makes them bigger yet. I shudder to think of the feats of engineering that will be required to hold them up later on...

GermanGal · 16/05/2007 11:29

Fingernails, I'm jealous!!!!
I'm 14+5 and could still fit into Kate Moss's bikini top!!!!!!!!! AAAARRRRGGGHHHH!!!!

geekInPigtails · 16/05/2007 11:33

GermanGal, I wouldn't worry - at least I'm not yet anyway I'm normally a B cup, and somewhere around 5-7 weeks my boobs definitely got a bit plumper, but only just noticeable. Since then they don't seem to have grown at all, so I'm still using my normal bras at the mo. I believe the growth tends to accelerate towards the end of pregnancy, and continues when you actually start breastfeeding. But size is NOT an indication of whether you'll be able to breastfeed - I haven't even done it myself yet, but I'm fully bought into the propaganda that almost anyone can breastfeed with a bit of help and encouragement. So you've no reason to despair at all, I'm sure.

SparklyGothKat · 16/05/2007 12:11

I am normally a 34a and have gone up to 34b, atm, when my milk comes in I go up about 2 cups sizes, it really hurts

RGPargy · 16/05/2007 12:47

Well, i know i am deffo 100% correct with regard to the date of my LMP - i even phoned up the family planning clinic to check. I had my coil taken out, you see, and they have to take it out when you're on your period so i know the exact date of that!!

I dont think i will be defecting to the December 07 thread - i certainly dont want to!

I have a consultant's appointment this afternoon (not really sure what for) and then my nuchal scan next Tuesday afternoon.

Whatever they say tho, i know my dates and i'm sticking to them!!

RGPargy · 16/05/2007 12:50

Oh and as for boobs, mine are enormous now but i'm still squishing them into a 40D lol. However, i do find that an unwired sports bra is much more comfortable than my normal underwired bra!

choudru · 16/05/2007 13:04

Germangal - just to confirm what geekinpigtails said, size of boobs has no correlation to the amount of milk you are producing/ability to breastfeed.

And trust me, if they haven't grown already - they will be growing soon enough.

Especially in the week after baby arrives. I remember 2-3 days after I had DS, my boobs EXPLODED in size. They were really hard and painful and I was really upset because I didn't know it happens to most mothers after birth.

Just for reference for those first timers out there, the remedy is to empty your milk by either breastfeeding baby or expressing.

Why is everyone talking about housework - I haven't done any for months!

GermanGal · 16/05/2007 13:19

Thanks all - feeling much better now Maybe I should enjoy the last months of being able to get away WITHOUT a bra

Still....I want to be able to fill out all these cute tops this summer.... for ONCE!!!!

JARM · 16/05/2007 13:21

Afternoon all

Not much happening here, got my 20 week scan date through the post - 9th July - it seems so soon!!!

Have we got a stats list at all?

littleoldme · 16/05/2007 15:07

Hello again everyone. I seem to have spent tlast few days doing nothing but going to work, eating scrambled eggs and sleeping. Is anyone else still exhausted and pukey ? - Ithought it was supposed to get better about now.

Rg - Know what you mean - my midwife is convinced I'm 13 weeks which would mean I conceived before my last LMP. Either that or it's twins

Puplepants - I'm getting a tad nesty too. I'm even contemplating cleaning the oven which I haven't even thought about since 05.

As far as boobs go - I've gone from a 32F to a 34 G . I always get my bras from Bravissimo. They start at a D cup and have some really pretty stuff. Choudru - there's one in the Victoria Quarter.

This may be TMI but has anyone got a miracle cure for thrush ( everybody's favourite fungal infection .) Canesten isn't working I'm going to try some tea tree in the bath.

12 ( or 14) week scan tomorrow. Very excited.

apeainapod · 16/05/2007 16:24

15 weeks today! Good God! And as of this morning I have put on 4lbs - slightly bonkers but what the hell - that actually means I have lost 6lbs in 2 weeks! I was with a friend who is due early September - and my bump is bigger than hers, oooops. At least I know it is all baby.

PP - back to the UK June 17 for 7 weeks and then on 23 September until Jan 4th! I hope it is really really cold and snowy. I would be in heaven. I never really got the chance to snuggle the other babies when they were little , so I am so looking forward to lots of blankets and snowsuits!

I agree with a new thread name - any ideas? Or should I say does anyone have enough brain cells left at the moment to string a comical sentence together - and still make sense!!!!????

choudru · 16/05/2007 16:31

Thanks littleoldme - but I don't think I'm in the market for D cups yet - have gone from 32B cup to 34C cup. Not exactly Jordanesque...

I'm still feeling slightly sick and I will be 16 weeks on friday. So the books that keep saying at 12 weeks 'Your sickness should be wearing off now' are NOT speaking for all of us! Not vomming anymore though which is something to be grateful for.

Went into Chapel Allerton today especially to get some cheese and onion quiches from Greggs. Yum yum in my tum.

Germangal - I have NEVER been able to not wear a bra Too nipple-conscious

geekInPigtails · 16/05/2007 17:58

choudru - you sound EXACTLY like me! Similar bra size and I'm the same about being nipple-conscious! Really not sure how I'm going to cope with months of non-wired non-padded maternity bras I guess a little pride will be going out the window!

I'm also still feeling sick occasionally at 15+2. Mainly if I leave it too long between meals/snacks, but sometimes I still have generally rough days for no apparent reason. It's so irritating! Keeps preventing me from making the most of my weekends - I haven't been swimming (or done any other real exercise) since I fell pregnant! And I made so many good resolutions at the beginning too

RGPargy · 16/05/2007 20:17

Evening everyone! Blimey, 8pm already and it only feels like 4pm!

I had an antenatal appointment today with my consultant (well, more like one of his "team") who asked me if i had any worries etc. When i first got there my BP was 170/100!!! Quite high really and so they made the consultant take it again when i went in to see her. it had gone down to 150/86. Slightly better, i spose!!

It's no wonder i get stressed at that bloody hospital tho because it's a right stress getting there and parking etc!! It was a nightmare to park, we didn't get to the hospital as fast as I'd hoped and then the waiting room was full of screaming kids and "earth mothers" thrusting breast feeding booklets into every expectant mother's hands. (I managed to "accidentally" leave mine under the seat i was sitting on)

There were two of these earthies in the waiting room and they seemed to be very hippy-fied IYSWIM Whilst i do agree that breast is best etc, i'm still coming to terms with having a go at BF my LO when it comes along and so the last thing i need is to feel pressure from these two! Then to top it off, one of them gets her baps out and starts feeding her baby in the waiting room in front of everyone, including other women's DHs!!! Even my DP who came with me said "Oh good god!!" when he saw what she was doing lol.

Sorry, but i do think BF should be carried out in a quiet/private area as much as possible because i certainly wouldn't want people watching me BF if i did have to do it in public! Besides which, I'd find a loo or a private room!

Anyway, rant over. How's everyone tonight?

littleoldme · 16/05/2007 20:53

On the bra issue - Apparantly it is fine to wear underwire bras in pgy as long as they fit properly. If they do then the underwire sits against your ribs and shouls be nowhere near cutting into breast tissue. I know it's diff when breast feeding but there is no way I'd be comfortable in any of the maternity bras I've tried on. Saying that most of mine end up costing £30. my mum calls them harvest bras, All is safely gathered in - free from sorrow, free from sin"

RG that's quite some blood pressure. Sounds like it wasn't exactly a relaxing situation though. Hope all is well.

Geek - Know what you mean re exercise, my gym memership is currently unused . I'm mananging a swim about once a week at the mo. This from the woman who as a 4 times a week gym addict. I can feel flobbiness setting in.

Choudru - we must meet up soon. perhaps after half term when we're back from hols and I feel less green and sloth like.

I just had to ask DH what was wrong with computer as I couldn't get it work. He switched it on and called me a ' drug addled Herbert." Feel like I'm going bonkers.

apeainapod · 17/05/2007 12:59

Morning - or afternoon!??

Bras, boobs etc - I was 34B and now a rather stretched 34C! Blimey!! Size really has no bearing whatsoever on your ability to breastfeed, and to the first time ladies do NOT let anyone make you feel inaedquate if you don't 'get it' immediately.

Talking from personal experience I should point that out. It happened with DS1 and DS2 and with DD and I thought 'you know what I'm going to do this my way', the baby was not starving , and so we did it slowly but surely - with a little help of formula thrown in - and we are all very happy!! Just like the pictures in the magazine in fact........!!

Or as DS2 described last night - your boobies are for feeding the baby - you look like a cow now!

DS1 I think is going to be designing bras in future (God forbid) - we were in M&S looking at the rather attractive choice of maternity bras and he told the supervisor that he didn't like the plain black ones - are than any pink ones???? He's 4!

Oh bugger - I'm late for DD...........X

choudru · 17/05/2007 13:04

Yes definitely littleoldme - let's meet up and compare bumps

Miriam Stoppard says underwired is okay as long as fits correctly - and if SHE says it's okay, who are we mere mortals to argue?

Geek - Know what you mean about not making the most of weekends due to feeling rough - especially annoying when the sun is out

But remember this is only for a few weeks ladies - soon we shall all be blooming in our 2nd trimester glory.

Has anyone else watched pregnant TV presenters with envy(Davina Macall, Sarah Beeny etc) who seem to just get on with things while pregnant? How do they do it?!!

About BF in public - I don't mind as long as people are discreet (which they almost always are) but I know DH finds it slightly embarrassing, bless him.

I wouldn't pay any attention to the earth mother BF mafia. Not everyone can BF for 6 months (I only managed 12 weeks with DS).

There is a fine line between 'encourgement and support' and 'guilt-inducing pressure'...

RGPargy · 17/05/2007 16:28

BF for 6 months??? I'm not sure i'll last that long! My MIL told me she BF until my DP was 2 1/2 years old!!!!!

geekInPigtails · 17/05/2007 17:51

RG, the world health organisation and various other worthy bodies recommend that babies are fed on nothing but breast milk up to 6 months (when you can usually start weaning), I'm guessing that's why choudru mentioned that length of time. Totally agree with the comment about the "fine line between 'encouragement and support' and 'guilt-inducing pressure'" though. I'm really hoping that I'll enjoy breastfeeding, and can imagine how traumatising it could be if I were to have real trouble with it - I'm sure the last thing I'd want at that point would be extra pressure or being patronised.
