New thread before the old one explodes!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
rosylonginglily · 06/03/2007 17:32

Kitty I was like that over the last two days, totally listless and fed up, but today I took a nesting frenzy so maybe you won't be fed up every day, I hope not, it's really hard to control it though, it's such a physical thing.

Mossie · 06/03/2007 17:45

Unfortunately, the reason I'm doing the shopping on a day by day basis, is because atm we normally do a bigshop every weekend (dh can drive) and end up spending a small fortune. It is not unknown for us to spend over £60 in a week - for two adults and three pets . This is in the Asda by the way, it is cheaper than Tesco or Morrisons, I have no idea what we'd spend if we shopped there! I think dh's wanting to buy almost everything organic pushes the bills up but it can't be by that much. (It's Asda Organic, ffs, it's not like it's from M&S!)

I have no idea what the hell we spend it on, I also think a lot of the food, especially the veg, is wasted. So while I am off work we thought we would try just getting what we need, so using what we have in the cupboards, and then just going into town as and when we need some more "bits". Until I get the hang of this cooking lark I find myself needing something extra every day!

It has never bothered me before now, but when I am on maternity leave it'll be a huge drop in money, and I do think one of the areas in which we can save is the shopping.

But it is a massive trek! Luckily I went for a wander today, and I discovered that a mile down the road there is a butchers, and a fruit shop that also sells some veg. That is much nearer than town so I will stick with that for now and see how I go!

Good heavens that was tedious I'm sorry!

Oh Booboo it must be a right pita this waiting, I know some babies take longer to "cook" than others but even so it is annoying especially as you can't really do very much. I hope your lo comes soon!

Mistiek I get weird cramps, I don't know if they're the same as yours though, it is a strange feeling, it runs from the bottom of my bump to my fanjo, almost feeling a bit like I absolutely desperately have to go to the loo, but far more painful? It's not bh, as I've had one or two of those, could it be baby's head engaging? I get them far worse if I've walked a long distance and they really hurt, I have to stop as it takes my breath away!

Laidback - giving birth in the woods? Hmm; biting on a twig for pain relief? I hope your house is nice and everything but I do hope you make it back home before you drop!

Diva glad you "escaped", I bet you are glad you are home, even with your Mum there! So tomorrow is induction day, I hope your lo comes quickly for you!

Right I have made a leek and potato stew. But, I think it would be nicer as a soup. I am tempted to blend it. What does everyone think? (Boring question I know!)

rosylonginglily · 06/03/2007 18:05

Mossy Blend a wee bit of it first and see what's nicer?

Mossie · 06/03/2007 18:06

Oh Rosy that's a good idea! Will do that!

Now what I need to figure out is why I didn't think of doing that!

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 06/03/2007 18:08

Mossy, you can blend it, you might need to thin it out a bit though as blended potatoes are very good thickening agents.
make sure you don't overdo it with all the walking. As a family we now spend around £200 a week on food and I make most things from scratch, God it's so expensive.
God, I'm so grumpy.
The film lady came round. I thought she was just going to have a chat, I couldn't believe it when she got the camera out. I looked a right state. Hair a la worzel gummidge, food spills all down my top which didn't go with my tracksuit bottoms and they had bleach stains over them .
"oh she says you've got 2 secs to get some lippy on if you want'
"LIPPY??, It'll take more than that darling" I thought. In the end I couldn't be arsed to change anything. Christ knows what I look like. The kids were marauding all over the place. She's a lovely lady though.

Mossie · 06/03/2007 18:16

Kitty I blended a bit and it was nice, so I have blended all of it now. I think it is very filling, but I know dh will look at me funny at suggesting we have just a massive soup for tea, as it has no meat in it. But hey I'm cooking now I make the rules!

I'm sure you didn't look that bad anyway, I think when you are heavily pg, people only really look at your bump anyway. My beauty routine atm consists of making sure I wash every morning. That's it. Nowt else! I think I'm doing very well!

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 06/03/2007 18:19

Ha, then you are doing better than me Mossy
I love soup, it is very filling.

bethoo · 06/03/2007 18:36

Mossie - that feeling of pressure is the baby moving down i think, i had it. at the beginning of my labour i felt it and also my thighs ached like i had been doing tons of leg exercises.
by the sounds of alot of you ladies, it will not be much longer til i see you on the other thread!
good luck

Mossie · 06/03/2007 18:36

Kitty I'm going to have to simplify that beauty routine when lo is born. I mean, I'm not Cindy Crawford you know. I know my fans expect a certain level of gorgeousness, but with a newborn baby, well, they're just going to have to lower their expectations.

And what with my stretch marks, I've already had to postpone a swimwear modelling contract, oh it's such a drag this pregnancy business!

Mossie · 06/03/2007 18:37

Xposts Bethoo I thought it might be that, but it does concern me a little as I feel like such a wuss!

Mistiek · 06/03/2007 18:49

Mossie - my pains seem very similar to yours and get worse when I do actually need the loo, which at the moment feels like every ten minutes and if I don't go I get mini contractions...and when I do go its like a trickle .

Bethoo I am having exactly what you have explained with the stiff thighs, and buttocks. Feels like I have run a marathon...

Mossie · 06/03/2007 18:53

Mistiek oh yes the phantom wee as I like to call it. You're absolutely dying for the loo... and when you go... you have to really push even to get a tiny trickle!

Sorry, I know that's tmi!

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 06/03/2007 19:58

yeah and then you think it's all finished, pull your knickers up, baby moves its head and more wee comes out. Or is it just me that happens to?

AmieR · 06/03/2007 20:08

I can't say I miss that constant needing to pee sensation one Iota!

Booboobedoo · 06/03/2007 20:13

It's not just you kitty .

Thank god for Primark cotton pants.

DH has promised me a back and foot-rub tonight, and is coming to see the midwife with me tomorrow morning due to my 'mobility issues'. He is a darling and I take back all the whinging. (For now, anyway).

Piffle · 06/03/2007 20:28

Yes can fully empathise with the low down pains, they are grim, really do stop you dead at times and make you take a deep breath, you swear the baby might just fall out (oh yeah right) at the very least it feels like they're trying to crawl out...
DD would not slepe this afternoon - I know I'm blessed with the only 4.5 yr old who still will take an afternoon nap and I've come to rely on it.
Today no way.
I'm shattered, really fatigued, tonight better not be the night as I'm too tired to deal with it.

I'm still over 2 wks of my EDD why am I even thinking my time is near huh huh huh.
Need my head read!

am excited for Foxy and Sazzy surely must be anytime.
Diva good luck for tomorrow, gal you got out even for a brief interlude.

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 06/03/2007 20:58

Good

eidsvold · 06/03/2007 21:43

Diva - glad to see you managed to getout even if it was just for a short while.

Glorious rain here today - so much cooler and we desperately need the water. The situation is so dire here that we could run out of water in 2009!! We need all the rain we can get - no complaints here when it comes.

Will take my pregnancy multivs for now and get some iron tomorrow when I am doing shopping. Meant to get some last night but couldn't be bothered - just wanted to get groceries and get home. NO internet shopping here although they do home delivery - if I have to go to shops - may as well take it home with me. Thankfully I can shop int he evening when dh has the dds.

Piffle - when dd1 is at home - she still has a sleep at 4 1/2 yo - she can still get quite fatigued depending on her day - but she at least has an hour or two. Dd2 will have up to three hours depending on our morning and if I have to wake her to go and get dd1 from kindy/sn kindy.

Easier day today - just take dd1 to swimming and drop lawn mower off to mower shop. Dh gave me all sorts of orders about not lifting the mower out of the boot.

I was 10 days over with dd2 and she showed no signs of wanting to come - hardly engaged, no BH, no show, no nothing. She had a huge head and I was huge.(thankful for the c-section when they measured her head!)So can sympathise with those who are overdue.

eidsvold · 06/03/2007 21:57

meant to share about dd1 this morning...

this morning dd1 brought my clothes to me to prompt me to get up and then when I sat on the side of the bed to put my shorts on - she opened them and pulled them onto my legs.

She then handed me my shirt and after I had put it over my head and my arms in the arm holes - she pulled it down over my 'baby tummy' as she told me

sazzybee · 06/03/2007 22:31

Well I've had diahhorea (sorry if tmi) and some mild contractions but nothing more than that.
I've even been for a walk - not exactly brisk but as fast as I can go!
Hopefully things will kick off in the next day or so. I read one book which says '50% of sweeps result in labour within 48 hours' and I'm all optimistic and then something else which says 'a show may come 2 to 3 weeks before a woman goes into labour' and I'm gutted.
So I'm going to stop reading stuff about labour and childbirth and stick to trashy novels - much better for my sanity
diva - glad you've got a night at home - hope all goes well for you tomorrow.

bethoo · 06/03/2007 22:38

sounds like sazzy and mistiek are next to pop to me!!! shame i am not the betting type. would b fun to predict who is next.

DollyPopsOut · 06/03/2007 23:01

Glad you escaped Diva, and wishing you all the best for tomorrow.

Sorry to those ladies who are overdue. It is such a pain in the bum and you get sick of thinking every twinge is the start of something, only to be in the same position a few hours later. Last time I spent days lying on the sofa after my morning feast run, waiting for action as I stuffed my face. But there was none. Nada. Zip. My solution was trashy magazines and lots of chocolate hobnobs. Didn't make the baby come but I felt loads better.

So Muppet and Foxy are missing in action, Diva is tomorrow, Sazzy and MistieK are on the way.... don't worry, Booboo, not long for you now! He'll be worth it!!

I had a long cuddle with my friend's baby who came 4 weeks early today. He now weighs just over 6 lbs and seems tiny but he is SO cute. Can't believe I am going to have another one soon! Took the new buggy out with DD in one side and morag the rabbit in the other. Hope she'll give it up and share nicely once DD2 is here (DD1 not the rabbit oviously). Had to keep stopping to persuade the baby to move off the bladder. You are so righ about the weeing. Full to bursting then produce a teaspooon. Coughing and sneezing are flood hazards now as well. Thank god for copious amounts of panty liners.

Hope everyone gets a good night... and look forward to seeing who's still around in the morning. XXXXX

rosylonginglily · 07/03/2007 06:39

Eidsvold that is so cute, your dd dressing you and your bump aawww.

Ds2 has tortured me all night, he really mustn't be well and I'm tired, want to still be in bed. Though I was hungry. Spent last night painting walls along with ds1 so I am delighted this morning that the walls are clean and fresh and not covered in scribbles and mucky hand prints! There are still loads of walls all the way up the stairs to do but it's a start.

The whole toilet saga applies here too, looking forward to getting my body back.

I wonder how Moss and Muppet are doing? And if anythings happening Sazzy?

39+3 boy

rosylonginglily · 07/03/2007 06:40

Oops meant Fox and Muppet, presume you are still pregnant Mossy

Mossie · 07/03/2007 08:09

Booboo I hope you got a good foot & back rub last night!

Piffle sorry you're so tired hopefully today your dd will take double the nap to make up for yesterday and you can get a decent rest.

Eids that's very cute your dd1 dressing you and your "baby tummy"! Are your dd's excited now about the new arrival?

Sazzy I hear that diarrhoea can be an early sign of labour as well, it's your bowels "clearing out" before you go into labour, sorry if tmi but it could be a good sign?

Dolly your friend's lo sounds very sweet. Lol at "flood hazards" that is an accurate description!!

Why Rosy thank you very much for asking, Moss is doing very well. I have a feeling Bertie's going to stay in there for a little while yet! In my head I am thinking a week beyond my EDD, anything under that and I'll be pleased! (Also, at the end of the day it will mean I'll get to watch the first episode of the new series of Doctor Who, 31st March).
