I love your positivity Lily. I guess you just get on with it and be thankful that they will monitor it and have the best plan of action in place.

I'm off work today with a sickness bug. It's meant to be fine when you're pregnant but I'm worried because I can't keep anything down. Sad

londonfeather · 06/03/2017 08:47

Oh no Sherbert, sickness bugs are the worst. I had one in the early weeks where I couldn't even keep water down for 3 days... a bottle of coke was my final saviour and everything was fine for me so just focus on resting and getting better and It will pass. Feel better soon

Fluffywallow · 06/03/2017 10:25

Just caught a glimpse of myself in a mirror at work. I look massive!!! My boobs are the size of my head BlushBlush

Sherbert hope you feel better soon Flowers

Frillyhorseyknickers · 06/03/2017 10:46

Fluffywallow same - I've taken to over sized cardigans which DH says don't do anything for me (they don't) but I need to keep a lid on it at work for another week or so. I don't feel like I've got too much of a bump, I just feel wobbly and my tits are gigantic Grin

This past week has been the week of the bad back, so I have been mostly absent from MN. I'm trying to deny this may be the beginnings of sciatica - I have a bad back anyway from years of horse riding accidents and I'm really worried it is going to dog this pregnancy.

Fluffywallow · 06/03/2017 10:50

Same frilly I'm wearing an oversized cardie today and it's making me look worse. But until I have a 'proper' bump I don't feel confident enough to go without. What do you other ladies wear up top at the moment? Dressing in this middly stage is hard!

Hope the back pain eases - would doing yoga or Pilates or something help to ease it or is it too painful?

oliversmummy26 · 06/03/2017 11:09

I know it's still incredibly early, but I've fallen in love with a pushchair (the Ocarro from Mamas & Papas, rave reviews and managed to have a little look at it in mothercare yesterday). I've found www.pramcentre.co.uk who have it massively reduced from M&P's prices and mothercare's (as a bundle with the carry cot) and they have an easy pay option...I've just ordered it!! Shock Paid a 20% deposit and can pay off chunks as and when I can.

Just thought I'd let you all know, as I'd never heard of pramcentre and stumbled across it at the weekend...I can also cancel at any time if I change my mind and get a full refund Grin (Not going to tell DH just yet as he'll think I'm bonkers ordering it so early!) Confused

EssentialHummus · 06/03/2017 11:13

olivers we're on the same wavelength - I have started scrutinising every pram I see and am getting into knots about what we need. I don't think I'll make it past five months without buying!

oliversmummy26 · 06/03/2017 11:15

I've told myself that it's the sensible option, and I haven't technically bought it yet...delivery date isn't until August, so not completely nuts, but it's gorgeous, I love it!

I'm also tempted by the maxi-cosi axiss plus car seat which suits from birth up to 4 years...and would mean I don't need a first car seat which would then be replaced in 9 months or so. Just meant I'd need the carrycot for pushchair initially which I've just bagged for a complete bargain!

StarWish1 · 06/03/2017 11:34

Olivers I've been looking at that pram too. I have a very small car and car boot - does it fold up quite small? Haven't looked on pramcentre before I'll have a look tonight Smile
I'm feeling very normal today and with my lack of a bump it really makes me anxious - anyone else around 14/15 weeks not having many symptoms?
I'm debating using a Doppler at home but worried it'll make me more anxious if I can't find a heartbeat. What are your thoughts on Dopplers?

oliversmummy26 · 06/03/2017 11:54

star I don't know the dimensions, but it does say that it has a "compact" fold and you can fold with the pushchair seat in situ..

Is this your first baby? With my first I was still in normal jeans until 16/18 weeks or so and didn't have a proper bump until 20 weeks. I would expect symptoms to drop off around 14ish weeks? I certainly hope mine do! It's that anxious time though where you have very few symptoms and you're not yet feeling any movement so don't have that to reassure you.. I used a doppler last time, and it was good for reassurance, I'm tempted to get one again but worry about not finding a heartbeat and that worrying me even more! It's a bit of a catch 22 I think.. Confused

calimommy · 06/03/2017 12:04

olivers I don't know how often you drive but if you will drive a lot you baby then defo do get the small carry car seat. It's a life saver when baby is asleep and your out and about. Both mine were in it till 13/14 months. I finally switched the second guy out and put him forward facing because I couldn't cope with the constant crying anymore. He hated being rear facing and screamed constantly. It was giving me anxiety about driving anywhere and making me a bit depressed! And waking wasn't an option unless I wanted to take a day to drop my older son to preschool... but I digress! Anyway I guess it depends on how you use them but I found them great for when I was going shopping etc, no waking sleeping baby

calimommy · 06/03/2017 12:04

So many typos sorry

oliversmummy26 · 06/03/2017 12:16

calimommy I have considered getting one and did use it a lot with my DS, but he'd grown out of it by 9 months! Also there are new guidelines stating that newborn babies shouldn't be in car seats for more than 30 minutes to an hour without a break..Locally will be fine, as everywhere I need to go is 20 minutes' or so drive, to visit friends etc. and happy to put baby in the trolley seats for supermarket..longest drive I would be doing would be 45 minutes to my parents where I'd be taking baby out anyway, or going for a long walk and using the carrycot...I really don't like the idea of a newborn being in the car seat for 2-3 hours. Fortunately DS's school is about 20 yards from our house, so school runs are easy! Smile

Amz26 · 06/03/2017 12:56

Pinkbottletop I had another scan yesterday and my OH recoded the whole thing on his phone! It was lovely to watch it back after.. He didn't ask permission tho 🙈 He just did it and they didn't say anything x

calimommy · 06/03/2017 13:13

olivers yeah I worried about that with DS1 and used to take him out and transfer him which always woke him and I immediately regretted it every time. 🙄 It depends on the fit of the seat but I have had several friends who were all recommended to sleep their babies in the seat for reflux problems. I didn't let DS1 sleep overnight in it (even though it was the only place he slept well -he didn't sleep through till he was over 2yrs) but by DS2 I said he could sleep WHEREVER he wanted so long as he slept, but he hated the seat 😞 go figure. This time I'm planning to buy one of these two because after two bad sleepers I will throw money at anything which might help 👍

Hi, I'm back, we went away to west stow over the weekend and had no service in our pod.
Great to get away and catch up with each other after our 12 week scan which today is 13+1.
How much exercise is good for parents with there 1st baby?

Kskifred · 06/03/2017 15:35

I would say car seat with adaptors is a must for sleeping baby! It was so handy just clicking DS onto the pram when making quick trips. That is the only thing that has put me off buying a newborn-4 car seat as you can't remove them. A sleeping baby is so precious you will really not want to wake them!

I'm also shopping for a double buggy - DS is nearly 3 so yes I know should be walking around happily but he is SUPER lazy and will only ever walk about 100m before wanting the buggy, he was regularly hospitalized with breathing problems throughout younger years so I don't know if this has something to with him getting tired quickly, but we also do lengthy walks and days out so could not be doing with a stroppy toddler to carry. I love the Baby Jogger City Select double as it can be used as a single pram too but going to buy second hand so I don't lose too much money on it, I don't anticipate needing it for more than a year (I will be forcing DS to walk by then!) Buggy boards I don't think would work either as he likes to relax (I am aware he sounds like a little prince, I suppose he is!)

My sciatica and indigestion are now really getting to me, struggling with moving around and lying down is also very uncomfortable - bought a truck load of Rennies earlier as Gaviscon makes me want to vom!

calimommy · 06/03/2017 15:59

ksk I feel you, my 3yo is same, bone lazy I call it 😂 but I also have 1.5 yo so he's honing to be needing it too. They will be just 2&4 when baby comes. I have a 2015 vista which is fab and can accommodate 3 (two seats and a ride on board) so I'll use that, but I do love buggies... slight addict. I'll be getting a babyzen yoyo at some stage but that's just for flights really.

oliversmummy26 · 06/03/2017 16:04

I have been looking at the Cybex Cloud Q which can be a lie flat seat out of the car...but I really begrudge paying £220 for a car seat plus the £150+ for an isofix base (because I'm damned if I'm doing it without again, it was a nightmare last time with the seat belt!) and then another £200+ for the next car seat 9 months later (which would probably end up being the maxi cosi axiss plus which I'm looking at now)...I love the fact that the seat doesn't need to constantly come in and out of the car. My DS wasn't too bad with being moved when he was sleepy, particularly if he was going from one mode of transport to another, he would always fall back to sleep pretty quick.

I doubt I'll be doing too much driving anyway, just lots of long walks to help me burn off the baby weight! And I'd far rather wheel the pushchair and carry cot into the house and let baby sleep in there as long as it wants than leave in the car seat..

Calimommy I've had friends recommended the same with refluxy babies, but it does worry me slightly..

Kskifred · 06/03/2017 16:19

Cali I just looked at the Vista and it is very similar in versatility, think I will keep shopping around before making a final decision. I'm glad I'm not the only one with lazy DC Grin

calimommy · 06/03/2017 17:19

oliversmommy that looks amazing! A lie flat car seat? Take my money!!!

calimommy · 06/03/2017 17:23

ksk I will say though that because it's tandem that it can be a bit heavy on the front. So I try to put DS1 in the top seat and DS2 in the front. Because your guy is older than mine was you might find side by side better. I was between the vista and the donkey but just couldn't reconcile the width of the donkey. I'm not mad on the look of them but a friend has an out n about double which she loves.

I could talk about buggies all day, because I am SAD 😜

cali (and anyone else!) since you're offering - any ideas/recommendations for something parent-facing, from birth up, London pavement friendly and able to fit in the boot of a (large-ish) car? I know nothing and am tying myself in knots.

calimommy · 06/03/2017 17:52

I had a bugaboo cameleon to start and loved it. But sold to get a double. Still wish I'd kept it anyway because bugaboo are a great buggy and hold their value really well. I have a vista 2015 ed now which is great, and definitely good if your planning a second sooner than later. I also have an umbrella stroller (mamas and papas urbo bug) for travel but I'm going to sell that and get a babyzen yoyo instead. I would have bought a babyzen at the start if I'd known what I know now, that I'd need it for airplanes etc, it folds to overhead bin size so no waiting, or never getting your buggy back, at the gate. They are pricy for a small/extra buggy though. My friend in London had a Quinny with her first but got an uppababy Cruz for her second. It's a more compact version of the vista but obviously only a single with option of ride on board. She loves it. And they also travel a good bit and bring the Cruz. I would say that everyone I know with a quinny regrets buying it, storage is zero. If you use public transport a lot then storage will be key.

Ok that's my 10cents! I'm sure others will have more to add!! X
