Esmes ditto ! I thought about it then realised we're having new bathroom put in in April so no point washing anything until there's no more dust !!

ClaireSunflower · 10/02/2017 19:31

That's a lovely nursery missfab! we are starting to get some bits and pieces for ours. I've got a cot from my sister which will go in there as we are getting a small one for our room for until he can go in the nursery, a changing table/chest of drawers. We've bought some light green paint and some wall stickers from jojomamanbebe so planning to get it painted at the weekend. Can't wait to have it done!

Rustler74 · 10/02/2017 21:01

Just for those who like 'guess how much I love you' there's a shop near me that sells cot sheets and wall stickers of that theme: www.hellobabydirect.com
Not cheap but I love it!

Savage never thought of stretching ribs Hmm I do get regularly kicked in them now so you could be right Confused

Badgerbird · 10/02/2017 21:06

Oh gin that looks familiar!! Confused

Spam88 · 10/02/2017 21:44

My rib pain is doing my head in tonight 😭 the only thing that seems to help is laying over my gym ball but then I can't really do much else in that position and it gets a bit boring. So fed up of being uncomfortable. My pelvis has been really sore the last few days as well and now I seem to have hurt my knee from walking funny. Feeling very sorry for myself, but at least baby is very active tonight which is lovely ❤

Does anyone know whether there are any guidelines about what type of mattress the baby should have? There are too many options...

Rabbitykins55 · 10/02/2017 22:23

Spam there's a lot of information in the mothercare catalogue. I've not looked but I imagine it's on their website too.

coxsorangepippin · 10/02/2017 23:02

Has anyone else got restless legs - and any ideas for dealing with it? It's starting to drive me nuts!

Spam88 · 11/02/2017 01:10

Thanks rabbity I'll have a look tomorrow :)

Sah1987 · 11/02/2017 07:01

I think restless legs is same remedy as cramp - Tonic Water, but I could be wrong. Hot baths seem to calm mine down?

Went back to work today, I've missed a lot, and have tonnes to implement before Mat leave. At least I'll be sat down!

teainbed · 11/02/2017 07:17

I think my midwife said continuing folic acid was good for restless legs. Have you had bloods done recently? Linked to low iron too.

Did I imagine it or did a couple of us have DMums who were extreme worriers about us being pregnant? I have kept 'medical' news and information to a minimum but told her about my normal growth scan the other day. And this led to a torrent of questions and clearly worries from her about late pregnancy/delivery.

Rustler74 · 11/02/2017 07:29

Bit of a meltdown me yesterday. Nerves for Monday's occupational health appointment are kicking in, not helped by back pain, or by OH creating a scene having come back home at 8.30am as he'd forgotten his phone. He tried to pin it down on me because he had tried to call it several times but it was not in the same room as me, and his urgent email he'd sent about finding it had not gotten through to me... it took me a while last night to make him realise that forgetting his phone is not my responsibility and that creating a scene stampeding through the flat is not in the least helpful.

I'm glad it's the weekend, well I realise some have to work, but I was awake at an ungodly hour twisting and turning so I feel your pain! It was a quiet day on the thread yesterday. Looking forward to see progress on the nursery happen.

Our landlord is doing our head in a little bit, by refusing a thermostat but we are starting to realise that the lady from the agency is even less helpful. We are hoping to keep our flat around the same temperature but the build is rather old and we have asked advice about how to keep the warmth in without the thermostat. I know that a few threads ago I was advised re wireless thermostat but the heating company hired by the landlord has really quoted £185.00 for it! As much as the engineers say that this flat would benefit from it, the landlord won't do it, and we could pay for it ourselves but not if they plan to turn us out in June (aaaah!) so a curtain stopping the heat from getting away into the cold part of the corridor would do the trick for now. I heard yesterday that we can do that ourselves but as long as it's gone by the end of the tenancy. Enough to lie awake on, can you tell ?

Rustler74 · 11/02/2017 07:33

Teainbed im still taking my pregnancy vitamins although I had not done it for 4-5 weeks in November. It definitely helped my legs when I started them again.
Am taking at least 1 paracetamol per day as well at the moment, which helps relaxing the muscles around the blockage in my back, and it has more impact than it normally does when not pregnant. I think a physio referral will be on the books.

EsmesBees · 11/02/2017 08:28

That all sounds really stressful Rustler. Have you got somewhere else lined up for after June?

On the wireless thermostat front- they are not that hard to fit yourself and cost way less than £185 (it was a couple of years ago but reckon we paid around £30 for ours). Would that be an option?

Rustler74 · 11/02/2017 08:51

Not really planning to move with few weeks old baby, but not excluding the possibility that they might want us out. Whenever I say that the flat's corridor gets really cold and we are burning gas to send heat out the windows, the agency lady says no one else before us had ever complained about that! This flat in Summer is lovely but winter is not great in here. I'm not prepared to keep bedroom door closed when baby is here as it gets too warm due to there not being any thermostat. Also, one of the living room radiators has sediment in it, which the landlord won't address!
I asked some other companies but they all says around same price with installation. Curtain will have to do for now.

EsmesBees · 11/02/2017 09:23

Well hopefully they'll let you stay on then. Have a look on YouTube for videos about how to fit the thermostat yourself. It's pretty easy.

Spam88 · 11/02/2017 09:27

For restless legs, maybe have a search of YouTube for some exercises/stretches to help?

savagehk · 11/02/2017 09:43

Mattress wise they're not that heavy, so i don't think you need to worry too much about support etc. I was worried about chemicals and things though, although i think they're stricter on baby mattresses than they used to be, so we got a natural one made by dojoecoshop to fit the sidecar cot we'd bought second hand. Little green sheep also has natural ones.

1004Rise · 11/02/2017 09:50

I'm still taking my vitamins, but I've had more cramps in my legs this week, probably partly to do with more walking and partly to do with missing my daily banana....

Tea was your DM worried so much about your previous babies or is this a new thing? If my DM is worried she hasn't said anything...

Rustler74 · 11/02/2017 10:19

Thank you EsmesBees x tbh I really think that my lower floor neighbour is right in saying that it's not the landlord being unreasonable but the agency. I wish the landlord would just visit on a day like today and realise how different the temperature is between corridor and the rooms.

Was also wondering about mattresses. JL would obv tell us to not go for the cheaper foam mattress but I don't really see anything wrong with it.

Barnes79 · 11/02/2017 10:53

Rustler - I just got a crib mattress from mothercare. British laws etc will prevent them from selling anything inappropriate.

Try not to worry about Mon (easier said than done). From what you've said Occ Health are reasonable - just be honest with them, that's all you can do. Flowers

growcookeat · 11/02/2017 11:47

Rustler sorry to hear you're having trouble with the flat. We had a similar problem when we rented. The flat was in a converted mill so high ceilings, draughty windows etc. Only heated by tiny electric radiators so was freezing except right next to them! A curtain sounds like it would help and perhaps draft excluders along the bottom of doors? Do you have a thermometer too so you can see the fluctuations? I wonder if you could record the temperatures over time, would the landlord be more understanding?

Dunelm have a range of thermal curtains if that's any good?

growcookeat · 11/02/2017 11:51

We were up early this morning finishing the wall sticker in the nursery. Pleased with how well it went on, even if it did take a while to put all the leaves on individually!

Just some shelves to put up now then we can organise the bits of clothes etc that we're starting to pick up.

You ladies are just wonderful! You really are! Thanks for your encouraging words xxx you know who you areFlowersBiscuit
Grow that looks lovely with the tree!

Barnes79 · 11/02/2017 12:50

I bit the bullet and went bra shopping (for the third time). I almost burst into tears in the fitting room when the only thing that would fit was a fugly 36G(!!!!) size bra - I started as 34C. I don't know why, but the boob increase is depressing me more than anything else... Sad

I guess on the plus side, hopefully I'll shrink back down a month or two after he's born (and then have the classic "golf ball in socks" look Blush).
