Glad it's not just me then, I feel like I've gone backwards. Maybe the glowing second trimester wasn't a myth, I just forgot how big a difference there was between normal and pregnant BlushConfused

Spam don't think it was a stupid question, I hadn't thought to ask it!!

Got first invitation to antenatal class today, not til march and have no idea how many we'll get (another question for the midwife). If there's classes it must be real ShockGrin

Tickyboovicki · 17/02/2017 15:05

Wow it's taken me forever to catch up again! Very interesting hearing everyone's options for sleeping! We have a Moses basket for downstairs and a crib for our bedroom.
However we had an offer accepted on a house yesterday, so god knows where we will actually be living come my due date Grin
I guess now I need to start being a grown up and figuring out mortgages/solicitors/surveys etc, any advice greatly appreciated!

Spam88 · 17/02/2017 15:54

ticky being a grown up is rubbish, is strongly advise against it. I'm sure solicitors just exist to make the whole process more difficult.

For sleeping arrangements, we've got a travel cot for downstairs (were planning to get one anyway for visiting the parents so made sense to get more use out of it) and a cot for upstairs that just about fits next to our bed. Might pick up a better mattress for the travel cot but it's an awkward size.

1004Rise · 17/02/2017 16:37

For downstairs sleeping, I was wondering about just putting the baby in the pram. Thought it would be safer from bouncing dogs than a Moses basket.... Am I being unrealistic, is there anything wrong with them sleeping in the pram?

Red wine Rasperry I'm impressed I still can't stand the smell of any alcohol. I still have the hmmm fancy a nice cold glass of Sauvignon feeling but I can't get past the smell.... probably a good thing Grin

savagehk · 17/02/2017 16:46

1004 ours slept downstairs in the bassinet part of the pram on the floor (we never actually used the pram!) so can't see that sleeping in the pram itself is any different.

Spam88 · 17/02/2017 16:48

rise nothing wrong with sleeping in the pram, although I think only some are approved for sleeping (due to ventilation and stuff I think)

RasperryInAMelon · 17/02/2017 16:58

Rise I wasn't sure how I'd take to it, but alongside a beautifully cooked slab of beef wellington it was beautiful ☺

Rise I've actually just come back from a visit to Mothercare with the purpose of research into prams. Apparently you can only have occasional overnight sleeping in most carrycots, but some brands have at least one carrycot that would allow overnight sleeping due to better breathability of the mattress or the base. The two that were advised were:
Silver Cross, wayfarer and pioneer carrycot
ICandy: peach
None of the mothercare own brands have that capacity, besides they generally are convertible cots to seats systems, which I'm not crazy about.
There may be others but it seems the mothercare staff is not trained to explain about the models and brands they only sell online.

Cosatto themselves don't recommend overnight sleeping in any of their carrycots.
That narrows down the search for me... I'm gonna have another look at Uppababy Vista as well with regards to overnight sleeping, but the silver cross is slightly cheaper and I must say, the fabric looks sooooo much better inside and out.

FoxMulder · 17/02/2017 17:25

Must warn the first timers though - lots of babies don't like to be put down anywhere to sleep! sarahockwell-smith.com/2012/11/04/the-fourth-trimester-aka-why-your-newborn-baby-is-only-happy-in-your-arms/

EsmesBees · 17/02/2017 17:58

Mine refused to sleep in her pram carry cot. She mainly slept in the soft sling during the day. Or on one of us as fox says.

Barnes79 · 17/02/2017 18:38

I'm definitely feeling more tired the last couple of days - yesterday I was asleep by 9pm and at work today I couldn't stop yawning from 4pm! I'm finding my body is struggling much more too - I had thigh cramps coming down 3 flights of stairs at work and just had back and hip pain (with a bit of nerve pain and numbness thrown in to boot) at the end of the dog walk.

It feels like the beginning of my body breaking (I've been expecting this for a while due to old back and pelvis problems...)Confused

mrscrocopop · 17/02/2017 19:20

Yes I'm finding dog walking harder - I am slow as a snail now and often get a pain either in my stomach or top of pelvis - assume it's a nerve that is getting squished. Can't believe still got 12 weeks left! What sort of state will I be in?!?! Ha ha! Oh well, too late now!!!! 😂

Adventuregame · 17/02/2017 19:43

Definitely feeling it in my body more now ! The walk home from the station exhausted me - out of breath ! Only 2 weeks left at work tho - bring it on !!

1004Rise · 17/02/2017 21:32

Oh well at least a sling is out of bouncy dog reach too Wink

Not sure if the pram we want is rated for overnight sleeping or not, will need to look. But if they're only sleeping in it in the daytime, then it's not overnight sleeping so does that matter? Hmm

I've ordered myself two bump support bands bizarrely I can feel it more in my shoulders because I think I'm compensating for my centre of gravity having moved. So I ordered one smooth one and one that is more substantial. Hopefully they'll make a difference! Smile

PeachIcedT · 17/02/2017 21:38

Feeling the effects too, my usual walk to work finishes with a climb up a flight of stairs which is usually race up but I get to the top (eventually) so short of breath Confused

Sipperskipper · 17/02/2017 21:40

Think we are going to get a snuzpod and a sleepyhead. Will take the carry bit off the top of snuzpod and bring downstairs for daytime. Just looks much more sturdy than a moses basket & stand - I'm so worried about my (small but very bouncy) dog jumping up with excitement and toppling it over!

Tickyboovicki · 17/02/2017 23:05

Turns out bronchitis and a baby bump are not a good combination Sad every time I cough, my bump hurts and my chest feels like it might explode. Feeling very sorry for myself, I hate feeling like I'm wasting a weekend when I have so much to do!

Badgerbird · 17/02/2017 23:13

I'm good thanks fox :) lots of unbaby related stress but that's getting sorted which is helping my emotional ups and downs and I'm basically enjoying being preggo Smile Glad you seem to be on the up too. Ooh and think I've found a hypnobirthing class for us too :)

Exciting news about the house ticky!

I just read that sarahockwell article recently and Love it! Makes so much sense. The picture of the swaddled baby is too cute!

Hope you feel better tomorrow esmes.

lullaby23 · 18/02/2017 03:27

sipper that was my plan too but just to warn you I found it too heavy to move about even in a flat.

Joining the tired brigade here. Finding my usual walk to the shops I do a few times a week really tiring and it's only about 20 mins each way. Pace has definitely slowed down! Napping a couple days of times a week when I get a chance.

Also still enjoying the odd small glass of red wine here too! Red wine tasting funny was one of my first symptoms in my first pregnancy...

Hope you feel better soon ticky & congrats on the house.

coxsorangepippin · 18/02/2017 06:06

lullaby and raspberry same here, I love nice wine and miss it. Have you tried non alcoholic wines at all?

The tragic thing about early pregnancy though was hating tea Shock Shock and English Breakfast is usually half my blood volume!

ClaireSunflower · 18/02/2017 06:32

I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling so tired again! I never seemed to get that 'second trimester burst of energy' but this week I've been really tired after work and keep falling asleep on the sofa in the evening, which makes it harder to sleep at night! I'm also finding that I'm walking a lot slower and getting out of breath really easily. God knows what I'll be like in 13 weeks! At least I know I'll be finishing work at 36 weeks so I won't have to worry about commuting (on the train) in my last month.

I think we are going to get a chicco next to me cot. I've got a big cot that turns into a toddler bed that my sister gave me but that doesn't fit in our room so the plan is to put him in a side sleeping cot for the first 6 months then move him into his own room in the big cot.

EsmesBees · 18/02/2017 07:38

Feel better soon ticky. I can confirm that a sickness bug and a bump is no fun either. Feel completely wiped out. Not great timing as DD is being taken out for the day so me and DH can finally get the baby's room cleared.

lullaby23 · 18/02/2017 08:13

cox genuine shock and alarm at going off tea, coffee I can understand but tea Shock

esme hope you can go back to bed & let DH do all the heavy work

Tickyboovicki · 18/02/2017 08:40

Ahh esme sorry to hear you've been ill too! Definitely let your husband do the heavy work, take it easy! At least with the house move we don't need to worry about getting nursery sorted yet Grin

Barnes79 · 18/02/2017 08:42

Anyone else fed up of waking up and feeling completely unrefreshed? I had 9 hours of sleep but must have woken up about 8 times - 3 for the loo and 5 due to hip pain. I also think my dream about bleeding didn't help...
