Sah glad to hear you're getting some answers. Sounds like you've had a rubbish time recently - hopefully you can put your feet up and relax this weekend!

I'm also feeling part of the tired crew... not sleeping well tied in with getting up for work at 5.45 just isn't working. Only another week of it before my boss is back though, then it's 7am again!

I've got my 25 week appointment on Monday (will be 24+5) any specific questions I need to ask? Brain really isn't working at the moment

I must arrange with DH to go and have a look at the maternity unit at the hospital - is anyone else doing that ahead of time?

Ask for Mat B1 if you haven't already got one!

I've just downloaded the mumsnet iPhone app - so much easier!!!!!!!

PowerofThree · 03/02/2017 18:32

Ask about whooping cough vaccine if you haven't already had it - I forgot that! And yes to Mat B1

newbieho · 03/02/2017 18:35

Rasperry I have asked the midwife about hospital tour and she said she will booked me later on as it is too early. It may be arranged differently in your hospital so it is always worth asking.

ginandcake · 03/02/2017 18:47

The midwives are very discrete with the net!

Definitely go on a tour of the labour ward, not doing it this time because its number three but did it with number one. It was especially good for DH who likes to have everything planned out ans knownhoe wveeything woeks beforehand as he could find out where he could dump the car to drop me off, where the entrance was at night etc.

Teaspoon74 · 03/02/2017 19:10

Jealous. Asked my obs about a maternity tour on Weds and was told they have a video on their website but don't do yours anymore as there are too many people ... bugs etc.

Not spoken about plans yet, but working on assumption I'm too old for birthing pool? (42)

growcookeat · 03/02/2017 19:12

Sah glad to hear you're feeling better already.

The fishnet!! Confused

I'm also waking a lot at night, sometimes manage to drift back off but last 3 days has been half an hour before my alarm is due so I've had no chance.

After recovering from that horrible D&V bug last week I'm now suffering the other way TMI - so badly constipated for a week now Blush I'm taking movicol which the midwife recommended - have gone up to the max dose today and trying to eat lots of fruit, oats etc. Anyone recommend anything to help?!

peasandquiet · 03/02/2017 19:17

Lolz at rustler going before you get in the water! In established labour I didn't know what my own name was let alone if I needed a poo 😂
I had a look round the labour ward whilst I was there getting assessed at about 36wks but not the MLU that I ended up in, tho in all honesty they have a virtual tour on the website and that is more than sufficient, have a look on there as there maybe a good amount of info for partners who need a plan.

Sah1987 · 03/02/2017 19:27

No I didn't get a tour first time either - ours was a video tour, unless you were going onto midwife led unit which I wasn't allowed to due to thyroid issues so had to be under consultant care.

Teaspoon, I would ask, I think until 45 you can ask for a home birth and that way you can have a water birth so might be worth asking?

Sah1987 · 03/02/2017 19:28

Looking at this article you're all good teaspoon

www.babycentre.co.uk/a542007/planning-a-water-birth

But guess it's all on each individual hospital

EsmesBees · 03/02/2017 19:36

Mine only offers a video tour too. But last time I was cheeky and asked if I could look around and since they were quiet they let me. Not that did me any good as I ended up in the consultant led bit.

RasperryInAMelon · 03/02/2017 19:45

Sah and Powerofthree I got my MatB1 form at 20 weeks (already submitted to HR) and had my whooping Cough at 21 weeks so that's those two ticked off Smile

Newbie we got told we didn't need to 'book' as such - just turn up really, just need to organise our diaries to go. The birthing suites look like hotel rooms! I couldn't believe it when I saw the pictures!

grow psyllium capsules

Barnes79 · 03/02/2017 20:18

Rustler - we've gone for the Oyster 2! Admittedly we've not it used it yet as we're expecting our 1st baby. We liked it for the fact it was light, folded easily and very compactly. Seemed sturdy enough in the shop...

MissMooMoo · 03/02/2017 20:40

Our tour is every sunday afternoon and you don't book, just turn up.
I hope ours looks like that raspberry I know it was all revamped recently so i am crossing my fingers.

MrsJW15 · 03/02/2017 20:40

Wow Raspberry that looks great! I think ours is virtual tours only.

Teaspoon74 · 03/02/2017 21:54

Omg Rasperry- where are you having yours?!?

stationaryace · 03/02/2017 22:00

Rise you're probably getting extra first-time mum appointments without realising, I think you're close enough to me that our mw services are the same. First time mums see the mw 10 times and subsequent pregnancies are 7, which I only discovered when flicking through my notes while waiting for my last appointment.

Our hospital doesn't do tours, too busy and understaffed now, but it does make it quite daunting that the first time you can go near the labour ward/mw led unit is when you're in labour and not exactly thinking straight Confused

newbieho · 03/02/2017 22:11

Apologies if that has already been discussed but can anyone recommend good supporting maternity belt? Bump starts to feel heavy and my midwife directed me to mothercare. I have heard some negative feedback re mothercare maternity belts and I am thinking of something like www.amazon.co.uk/ActiVe-Orthotics-White-Maternity-Support/dp/B00IAML8SS/ref=sr_1_12_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1486159694&sr=8-12&keywords=maternity%2Bbelt%2Bpregnancy%2Bsupport&th=1&tag=mumsnetforum-21

EsmesBees · 03/02/2017 22:20

I've got a JoJo one that I really like newbie. I don't wear it all the time. But it makes a big difference when walking or lifting.

Rustler74 · 03/02/2017 22:25

Wow Raspberry that looks pretty amazing! Also wondering where that is!
I'm not sure if I need the support belt as yet, but it looks like the ones I've seen in th orthotics catalogues before so looks pretty good support, newbie.
Thanks Barnes, I'm currently eying up a few oysters on eBay.

ShiniBerry · 03/02/2017 23:03

27 weeks today and feeling rather massive! Bump is getting pretty heavy too. I think I'm having Braxton Hicks at the moment, though not entirely sure what they are supposed to feel like!

MrsJW15 · 03/02/2017 23:06

Are we ok to take aspirin during pregnancy then? I thought we couldn't. I usually take it on planes and had assumed I wouldn't be able to.

Tickyboovicki · 03/02/2017 23:13

shini I'm exactly the same, all of a sudden feeling huge! And also same for the braxton hicks, sometimes my bump just goes really tight and hard, no pain or discomfort with it (yet!) so not 100% sure Confused

Autumnsweater · 04/02/2017 07:52

newbie I've been given one by the physio that I'm finding really comfortable (brand is Emma-Jane), I think it's thinner than a lot of the other ones I've seen (I prefer this as seems less restrictive but then I've not seen the other ones). A colleague also recommended the JoJo one.
