Hope you get sorted SAH.
Rustler, hope the vent has made you feel a little better, sometimes it's the best thing!
Don't know much about oyster pushchairs. Can only sing the praises of a Vista.
I've been waking over night for weeks. It managing not to go for a wee. If I open my eyes then I'm done for!

Nurse15 · 03/02/2017 10:36

So busy in work today and could literally sleep alllll day. On with a rubbish crowd too Grin someone rescue me!!

Sah1987 · 03/02/2017 11:01

Right so finally some answers!!! My thyroid levels were UBER low, my TSH is high, T4 low. So they've up'd my doses and given me an inhaler which is really helping already. And signed me off for 1 weeks.

I feel annoyed they didn't check that first as I asked them to in A&e and I'd had the bloods done a week earlier. X

lullaby23 · 03/02/2017 11:17

Glad you have some answers sah and fingers crossed back to your usual self soon.

Thanks for the recommendation ticky will try sticking on a video when DS is napping rather than sleeping myself! I hope stretching the muscles out will help a bit.

Also sleeping poorly here mainly due to DH snoring, I would usually decamp to the spare room but family member staying at the moment Grin

1004Rise · 03/02/2017 11:28

Sah glad you got sorted in the end, at least you know the reason now!

Rustler it's good to rant! We don't mind Wink

I've been waking up several times each night, if I don't get too awake I can turn over and fall asleep again but if I get to that awake state I'm up for agesHmm

I also seem to have significantly less patience or people have got more stupid... there's a lot of swearing under my breath at emails going on Blush

Rustler74 · 03/02/2017 11:30

Oh Sah what a nightmare you must have been through x being low on thyroxine (or too high sometimes) is one of the worst stuff I've been through. So what is the plan? Are you getting a referral to the endocrinologist and obstetrician joint clinic? I'm glad they found out what it was!
Lullaby, oh the joy of a snoring hubby! I once recorded my other half snoring because he wouldn't believe me. After that he thought I was very cruel, lol! I've had some short nights too, thanks to the European championship happening inside my tummy (England vs Belgium?)
Oh yes that rant earlier was incredibly helpful!

RedBlu · 03/02/2017 12:08

Odd question, going to go to an NCT sale tomorrow (Carlton Colville) but cannot find out if I need to bring cash with me or if I can pay by card? The email address for the organiser doesn't work so I cannot find out! Anyone here know?

Teaspoon74 · 03/02/2017 12:18

Can totally relate to lack of sleep! My obs reckons it's a positive - getting me used to not having a straight and undisturbed night. Struggling to be pleased about four wee wake-ups a night, but I can see her point!

Sah glad you've got some help/mess rather than the not knowing!!

Rustler rant away!! It's the hormones. And it's gotta be better than crying (which is my daily default - and which I hate and find frustrating, which only makes it happen more!).

Nurse hope it goes quickly!

jennymac31 · 03/02/2017 12:32

Redblu - I would walk with cash because they don't always have card machines at the nearly new sales.

jennymac31 · 03/02/2017 12:50

It's quite interesting how appointments etc seem to vary from trust to trust. Things have obviously changed over the last few years because when I was pregnant with dd my first few appointments were with my gp before I got referred to a midwife. This time round my gp seemed surprised to see when I wanted to discuss the pregnancy after I got my bfp and was told that I should have just gone straight to a midwife.

Has anyone discussed birth plans and antenatal classes with their midwife (apologies if I've asked this question before)? There was no mention of this at my 25 week appointment so am wondering if it's too soon to discuss or my midwife is leaving it until later because it isn't my first pregnancy.

Streaky17 · 03/02/2017 13:17

redblu take cash, I can't remember there being any card facilities at the one I went to.

Glad you got some answers Sah

PowerofThree · 03/02/2017 13:23

Jenny according to my list of what happens at each appointment, I get to discuss feeding at 34 week appointment with midwife and birth preferences at 36 week midwife appointment (then again, I seem to be in a weird trust where the GP is still fairly involved so they might do other things differently too!)

Antenatal classes, I got a sheet at booking in which said I should be booking after 20weeks for classes around 32-37 weeks - neither midwife or GP have mentioned them since.

MissMooMoo · 03/02/2017 13:52

red our NCT had both but the prefer cash.
I have managed to have a 2 hour nap, feel so much better!

I asked about birth plans/deciding what kind of birth I want when I saw the midwife at 16 weeks, she said we would discuss that at my 34 week appointment.
My anenatel classes start at the end of this month Smile

Sah1987 · 03/02/2017 14:05

Rustler - funny thing is I'm already seeing the specialist teams!! They said my levels were fine 3 weeks ago. Very annoying!
Feeling so much better already! X

MrsJW15 · 03/02/2017 15:17

Sah glad you have some answers.

Jenny I was asked about antenatal classes at my 16 week appointment. I think birth plans come later.

It is amazing how different the systems are in different places - and mine is just two different bits of London. Our GPs don't get funding for the appointments that my hospital want me to see them for. So I anticipate a complicated conversation with the hospital when I'm back there in a couple of weeks.

On the more positive side, I handed in my MatB1 form today. I'm still planning to work up until 38 weeks, but the three weeks before I go will all be four day weeks which should help a bit.

Teaspoon74 · 03/02/2017 15:21

MrsJW technically, pregnancy care does fall within the general medical services (GMS) contract that most GPs have. So whilst they don't routinely get a specific enhanced service payment, they should not turn you away if you are a registered patient looking for GP advice/support. Not to say they are more knowledgable/ better suited than ME or obs, but they should not refuse to see you.

MrsJW15 · 03/02/2017 15:23

Thanks Tea - they didn't refuse (actually she couldn't have been nicer and followed up with a call later on to suggest some blood tests) but said that they don't routinely do the appointments that the midwives suggested - there are two more. I'll have to ask the midwives how to resolve this.

EsmesBees · 03/02/2017 15:28

Jenny had my 25 wk appt today, and the midwife said I'd get a discussion about active birth at the 33 wk appt. She offered to book me into parentcraft and bfeeding classes but I said it was no2 so didn't think there was much point. I've got to go for another appt at 28wks and get my anti-d injection and various blood tests.

EsmesBees · 03/02/2017 15:34

She also reminded me to buy a sieve and mirror if I wanted a water birth!Blush They provided these things at my last trust. The NHS must be strapped for cash!

1004Rise · 03/02/2017 16:10

Erm at the risk of asking an awkward question, what do you need the sieve and mirror for Esme Blush

I've had no conversation about birth plans or classes, NCT haven't made it this far north yet so no other option.

We made our first baby "purchase" today, found someone on gumtree giving a cot away for free! Shock It needs a clean, but is in good nick so all we need now is a mattress for it. Very impressed with my bargain of the day!! Grin

MrsJW15 · 03/02/2017 16:18

I am so pleased you asked that Rise!

teainbed · 03/02/2017 16:32

For scooping poo out of the pool and looking for the baby's head at awkward angles. Grin

EsmesBees · 03/02/2017 16:58

Yep tea has it. Apparently those nets they use in fishtanks are good 😂

Rustler74 · 03/02/2017 17:16

That's pretty cool Rise about the cot!

I think I'll just make sure I'll go to the toilet before I go into the pool (as if I'll be able to plan my bowel movements!)
Just phoned for my antenatal course from NHS in new team and its two 2 hour sessions so not bad, even at earlier date than the previous team (was at 35 weeks, as opposed to 32 weeks now!) and just after the NCT one.

1004Rise · 03/02/2017 17:53

MrsJW I'm now less pleased I asked Confused
