I must live in an odd area of the country then because all my extra 'first time mum' appointments are with my GP and I had to see GP to be referred for my booking appointment. At this point, I've seen her more than my midwife... And, unlike some, baby's heartbeat is one of the listed checks for all my appointments from 15/16 weeks. It's interesting how much things vary - I had assumed it would be the same nationwide - but does make it a pain working out who to talk to at each stage.

*secret handshake GrinGrin

ginandcake · 02/02/2017 21:41

Right back at you tea Grin

Missfab2000 · 02/02/2017 21:42

Me too gin and tea 😝

ginandcake · 02/02/2017 21:54

High five miss Grin

1004Rise · 02/02/2017 22:09

That's odd power not only do I not see a GP I don't have any extra first time mum checks either! Don't know whether to be reassured or concerned! Wink

ShiniBerry · 02/02/2017 22:13

Peas my sister swore by the my brest friend nursing pillow with both her babies and which she's passed on to me to use. It goes around you with a buckle to strap into place and has a back support bit.

1004Rise · 02/02/2017 22:13

Tea (and gin & miss) I don't know how you have time to do all you're expected to do, can't imagine you'd have time now to do antenatal stuff too Hmm

ginandcake · 02/02/2017 22:22

I got a pillow from mother care which could be used as a bump support at night and then as a breast feeding pillow after DD arrived. Would definitely recommend getting one, it made feeding much more comfortable.

Teaspoon74 · 02/02/2017 22:54

Ditto what Rise said, Tea, Gin, Miss.

I work with GPs across London and they barely see their partners, let alone have the energy to do the necessary to be on this thread Smile

Badgerbird · 02/02/2017 22:58

That's good ticky :) problem shared and all that.

Ooh I did a pregnancy workout DVD for the first time today, really enjoyed it! Nice to have a proper work out and get a sweat on Smile Ofcourse I may be in agony tomoz!

ginandcake · 02/02/2017 23:22

That's very impressive badger, the most I can manage anymore is Pilate's. My SIL was doing twice weekly body combat sessions up until a week before she delivered

PowerofThree · 03/02/2017 01:20

Rise I had assumed first time mums everywhere got extra checks... maybe it's actually second time mums in my area that are hard done by in terms of number of appointments!

lullaby23 · 03/02/2017 06:19

Can anyone recommend YouTube videos for gentle pregnancy exercise/stretching? I'm getting lower back pain after walking and this led to spd last time so want to do something proactive Confused

I have this nursing pillow www.amazon.co.uk/Baby-Widgey-Nursing-Pillow-Stars/dp/B00DJQ0UMA/ref=sr_1_2_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1486102226&sr=8-2&keywords=Breastfeeding+pillow+stars&tag=mumsnetforum-21 which I used for about 3 months so well worth it. Just make sure the cover washes easily as it will likely get milk/sick on it! Also used it to prop DS up before he got mobile.

McBaby · 03/02/2017 06:57

I had shared gp/midwife care for both previous pregnancies and with my miscarriage last year. This is the first pregnancy I won't see my gp. It's annoying in one way as I need to see her as well prescriptions and vaccinations rather than being rolled in to antenatal appointments!

Tickyboovicki · 03/02/2017 07:23

lullaby have a look for bodyfit by Amy prenatal workouts on YouTube. There's nice easy Pilates/stretching and then a variety of other stuff including body weight workouts, stability ball workouts etc.

There the ones I've been using and their really good! Something to suit however much energy I feel I have 🙂

Sah1987 · 03/02/2017 07:47

Nope never had one before, and never been breathless like this before I can't even get to the bathroom without almost passing out. There's defo a something wrong. But got GP at 9.10, so fingers crossed x

1004Rise · 03/02/2017 08:08

Sah hope you get sorted out today!

Sah1987 · 03/02/2017 08:24

Thanks Rise - me too. I'm not one for making a fuss but this is third pregnancy (2ndbaby) and something's not right x

newbieho · 03/02/2017 08:29

Fingers crossed Sah Star

Rustler74 · 03/02/2017 09:18

I have loads of respect for our amazing GP's. Quite an honour to gave a few among us. I work in healthcare too, so I know it's challenging and I can only imagine what you have to put up with (including from me Wink.
Badger which DVD did you use? I'd be quite interested.
Been to first check in new team yesterday. It started with having to wait 45 minutes beyond the time of my appointment, add to that, I was half hour early! It turned out that someone had called out my name before but I hadn't heard! My notes were there so I was there, also on the front of my notes, I had previous midwife to PRINT that I was hard of hearing, so they could have come round instead of calling someone else instead. I blame it on the hormones that I was in a fairly bad mood! Ok I'm still grumbling...
New bloods done and that was a long wait too, but at least now I'm started off in the hospital trust where I'll be giving birth. Turns out I'll still need to use midwifery service via GP practice for certain things like matB1 and whooping cough, which I arranged straight when I came home.
I went to John Lewis re buggies and prams after my appointment. I'd been keeping an eye out on eBay for the one we thought we wanted (uppababy vista) but I was not happy still spending about £300 or more for a used pram and before I looked at other ones I just wanted to get a feel for the real deal. Turns out that Oyster 2 is an option usable from birth too. The carry cot is to be purchased separately but I'm thinking to use the sling more, and for the occasions I'll use the buggy, it can actually lie flat as well, so I may not need the carry cot. They're slightly cheaper on eBay too. Although deemed less durable , they were half the price new, so for me an option! Does any of you have the Oyster 2 or max?

Rustler74 · 03/02/2017 09:19

Thinking of you Sah
Sorry for rant ladies!

Streaky17 · 03/02/2017 09:39

Hope you are OK Sah.

MissMooMoo · 03/02/2017 09:44

sah hope it is nothing serious!!

3 nights in a row now I have had a terrible sleep. After I get up to go to the bathroom baby decides to wake also and have a big kicking session!
No work on Fridays so planning lots of naps today.

EsmesBees · 03/02/2017 09:51

Really hope everything is ok Sah. Sounds like you are doing the right thing getting checked out.

No sleep for a few nights here either. I keep waking up needing the loo and then can't get back off as I can't breathe through my nose.
