Hhmm good point Savage I can't quite decide if we should just get CDs and then decide if we want to book a course, or just book something. I know these courses get quite booked up so if we want this one, we need to book it.

Stationary that is really funny!

Sah hope you are ok, that sounds scary!

savagehk · 31/01/2017 22:20

I did the CDs last time, but when my home birth was eventually refused while I was already labouring for no good reason I was so miffed I stopped visualising. This time I figured a course might be better, and the lady running it has rave reviews. It might also help hubby to help me handle any curveballs this labour (esp as he's already going to need to be the me-to-midwives translator as I know I don't want to engage directly with them when in labour, if last time is anything to go by...)

Teaspoon74 · 31/01/2017 22:34

Sah & Lucie hope you're both ok. Sounds horrid... and a reminder I need to get better at remembering to take my aspirin.

ShiniBerry · 31/01/2017 23:29

Nurse if only! My tickets are for the 27/28th, so just a week after so the 19th is still cutting it close. I think I'm going to have to find someone with February/March tickets to swap. Thanks anyway :-)
Have a lovely time this weekend!

lucieloos · 01/02/2017 07:39

Thanks tea im feeling a lot better this morning. Dr google tells me it's very common to experience breathlessness as the baby can push on the ribs / lungs. You also need to take in a lot more oxygen than usual as well. Although sah's experience has definitely acted as a remind to get on top of my aspirin as well. Hope your scan goes ok today.

Barnes79 · 01/02/2017 07:41

I'm going to the Lakes for a couple of nights this weekend. Looking forward to the couple of days off work to be honest.

On a different note, the underside of my bump (what little bump there is) keeps going a bit tight and uncomfortable. Did this happen to anyone else? Not sure if it's stretching muscles, baby position or something to be worried about. It's not got a pattern to it and I may not notice it when I'm actually stood up and working. Confused

Rustler74 · 01/02/2017 08:02

Hello chatty bunch!
Sorry to hear Sah about your experience x I hope you'll be well and home again soon.
We aren't going away together before baby arrives, although I may squeeze out to visit Belgium one mire time, which I can plan as soon as I see midwife tomorrow and get some information on the prenatal course in the new trust. I can quite easily hop onto the Eurostar for a few days, and have my mum and dad to myself one more time before bub is arriving.
We are attending a wedding on 12 May in Derbyshire so that's a nice time out as well! Otherwise I'd be quite happy just the odd night out eating. One more than nog I'd like to do is a theatre trip but I know a fair few good amateur companies in the neighbourhood so it doesn't have to cost loads.
I wonder what they'll say about blood pressure tomorrow because I can't take aspirin. And I'm hoping that the new team is also planning to do the growth scans at 28-32 and 36 weeks. Are the other Jurassic mums also getting that?

jennymac31 · 01/02/2017 08:22

Morning ladies

Midwife appointment yesterday went OK. Had a bit of a cry after I got her to check the heartbeat, which she was reluctant to do but am glad I pressed as I think the relief of hearing baby's heart overwhelmed me.

Am glad we'll be off to Portugal on Saturday for 9 nights (although the weather won't be brilliant) as I think myself and dh need the break. It’s my birthday the day after we come back (valentines day) and I know I should probably do something but not sure if I'll be arsed!

1004Rise · 01/02/2017 08:37

Lucie I've had a bit of breathlessness, but usually because I've forgotten I was pregnant.... rushing for a train, climbing stairs 2 at a time. So far not without having done anything though, guess it's something we have to keep an eye on.

I've had really sore legs in the past few days, think it's just bump getting heavier and finding it quite difficult to get comfortable in my office chair Confused Need to investigate other solutions, bizarrely sitting on the floor Buddha style seems to be the most comfortable, but then I get pins and needles!

Not planning a holiday as such, my cousin is getting married 3 weeks before my due date so we'll be traveling south for that (if all goes well) although it's a ceilidh so not sure I'll be doing much dancing! We are going to the cinema tonight to see Trainspotting 2 (desperately ignoring the fact it's been 20 years since the first one!!) at least I should be fairly safe without tissues for that, can't watch anything remotely soppy at the moment!

lucieloos · 01/02/2017 08:56

Rustler, they offered for me to go consultant led and have the extra growth scans as I've had ivf and they felt I may be more anxious about things but I declined as I want to try and stay midwife led.

Jenny, have a great time in Portugal. Sounds lovely.

teainbed · 01/02/2017 09:43

Assuming you've not got chest pains or coughing up blood or anything it might just be one of those annoying pregnancy things. When I went to the physio class they showed us some exercises to open up your chest, I've been doing them when I feel 'air hungry'. One was sitting with hands on your waist, shoulders down and back, and taking three deep breaths in through your nose and then out through your mouth. Then, tuck your el ones into your sides with hands forwards, move your hands out laterally but keep the elbows tucked in. Do this a few times! Lastly, take one arm and stretch up to the sky and then over your head as far as you can go.

MissMooMoo · 01/02/2017 09:46

sah hope all goes well today! Sounds scary.

jenny I am surprised they don't listen for the heartbeat routinely at this stage? I have my appt next Tuesday at 25+6 and I have just been expecting she will have a listen!

25 weeks today!! I have arranged my mat leave and it feels really real now! I am finishing Easter weekend for 2 weeks of annual leave and then starting my maternity leave at 37+1. I am a children's nanny and looking after 3 kids I think I will be ready for a relax by then! They have 2 weeks off before Easter for the school holidays so I am sure I will be exhausted by the time Easter rolls around.

Baby is becoming more active each day. I notice he or she only really kicks on the sides though, worried they are still in a low tucked in position because of my low placenta. I will ask the midwife at my appointment but what happens when they re scan me at 33 weeks to check placenta position and it hasn't moved? Am I able to request to be re scanned a few weeks later in case it has moved? They told me at my 20 week scan that if it had not moved at the 33 week scan they would book a c-section between 37-38 weeks. I would prefer to have a vaginal birth if I can but I realise that if the placenta hasn't moved it isn't possible.

MrsJW15 · 01/02/2017 10:04

Ooh thanks KLane will take a look.

MissMooMoo I also assumed they routinely checked heartbeat at this point. I have my 25 week tomorrow so I guess I'll find out then. I really hope they do, as baby's movements are still a bit inconsistent, and I'd really like the reassurance of hearing.

Adventuregame · 01/02/2017 10:05

Rustler I'm having extra scans too. Combination of medical condition and age ! Next one is at 28 weeks.

lullaby23 · 01/02/2017 10:45

barnes could be braxton hicks? I get a kind of stitch at the bottom of my bump when I've been walking I assume it's stretching.

Re: breathlessness I remember being so surprised at what a deep breath I could take after DS was born, my bump was really high and obviously impacting lung capacity!

Hope ladies having a tough time yesterday are feeling better today.

Rustler74 · 01/02/2017 10:48

Thanks for that, ladies. I don't think I will be obliged to give birth in the consultant led unit, necessarily, just because I'm ancient. But because I have been seen in the endocrinologist and obstetrician joint clinic, they just wanted to keep an eye on the growth. I may need to put up my thyroxine dose soon as well, so will try plan everything tomorrow.
Thanks for the boots link KLane. They seem to have a few pram offers on. We are not in a hurry to buy one (eBay may do and we have a car seat) but still...

Badgerbird · 01/02/2017 11:08

ticky I'm sorry to hear that :( I hope you got a good nights sleep and are feeling a little better today. Is there an end in sight with the stress at OH's or your job? Buying and selling houses is very stressful so on top of the hormones and general ups and downs of pregnancy I'm not surprised you're feeling overwhelmed.

You aren't alone, I'm having a couple of tricky weeks full of emotions ranging from anger, anxiety to unfairness, sadness over job losses impounded by the unknown, change and uncertainty of pregnancy. Awake at night worrying, not sleeping properly. I blame the hormones!!! Do you have friends or family you can talk to?

sah thank goodness you got checked out! Keep us posted lucie. I also feel out of breath more than normal but just put it down to preggo stuff.

rustler how old do you have to be to be classed jurassic? I'm 39 so don't know if I get any more scans.

We are hoping to sneak a couple of nights away in our camper van prob near south coast before baby arrives. We are doing it as a practise run as we are hoping to go away in it for a few weeks with her before I go back to work (whatever that may be). I realise the logistics of a small baby, poop/vom, no washing machine, camper van etc could poss be very challenging!?!

lucieloos · 01/02/2017 11:31

Is there a guide anywhere as to what baby should be measuring at 26 weeks etc?

Rustler74 · 01/02/2017 12:23

badgerbird I'm 42! Only just, and I don't look it...
There is a measure chart, saying which size it should ideally be per week even. But every mother and every baby is obviously different. At my 20 week scan my baby was just on the 50th centile for its head and pelvic circumference. I'm quite curious to see baby again on the next scan.

EsmesBees · 01/02/2017 12:31

Lucie- have a look in your notes, there should be a growth chart in there.

teainbed · 01/02/2017 12:55

Also got first growth scan next week. They are less exciting as you just get to see bits of the baby rather than the whole person!

Rustler74 · 01/02/2017 13:00

That's kind of good, as long as I can't see the gender! I'd be gutted if I were to inadvertently see some parts which I'm likely to identify straight away (used to look at X-rays, scans a lot)
Teehee

Sah1987 · 01/02/2017 14:17

Sorry I just reread what I posted last night and I wasn't trying to scare anyone. But if it's made some of you take your aspirin then I'm happy.

So another 4 hours waiting in hospital today, a chest X-ray and now 2x daily injections and another scan in next 2 days.

I ache all over but think it's from hospital chairs x

savagehk · 01/02/2017 14:33

rustler tell the sonographer when you go in you don't want to know, sure they'll be able to show you pics where it's not clear (and turn screen away if baby legs akimbo)
