I don't think I could face doing all the changing on the floor my back would be in bits. We have got a cot top changer and a bag that goes over the cot to keep all the bits close to hand.

RasperryInAMelon · 27/01/2017 22:31

I've got a chest of drawers with a changer top. No way I can manage getting on the floor all the time I'm such an old lady

Rise I second the bra extenders, I bought a cheap pack from Amazon, they came in a variety of colours (black white and nude) so I have one that goes with everything!

stationaryace · 27/01/2017 22:39

We opted for the Ikea Stuva table and did use it for the first few months when changing her upstairs, but before long we shifted to a mat on the floor. I store our nappies in baskets underneath and the intention was always to convert it to a desk-type unit in a few years. I was trying to be sensible and not get sucked into buying everything, but this one is probably something we could do without/replace with a cheaper unit. I'd suggest having a few changing mats to hand, I have one upstairs and one down so I don't need to drag it around.

Badgerbird · 27/01/2017 22:39

That nursery is gorgeous!! Loving the fox theme here, there is a love of foxes in our house too, my DH nickname is Foxy! Might have to get that rug for our nursery.

Yay fox!! Cloth wipes from pound shop!! I'm having a look.

1004 ha ha payback!

rise I got a pack of 3 bra extenders for £1.40 off eBay in 3 diff colours. Life savers!!

sleeping PFB, I love it!!! Hoping I won't go that far Confused

lucieloos · 27/01/2017 22:44

The dream geni pillow is on sale at Asda at the moment for £30 if anyone is thinking of getting one.

Autumnsweater · 27/01/2017 23:30

Am loving all the fox stuff! Got a really cute foxy top in Zara, will get a photo.

Badgerbird · 28/01/2017 05:36

Why oh why do we end up wide awake the night before a particularly busy day Envy Oh well, it's been a handy time to update cv and work on my tax return, maybe that will send me back to sleep!!

Guess it's all good practise Wink

McBaby · 28/01/2017 07:02

Once they start rolling, wiggling and arching their backs much safer to change on the floor imo. But also worth having a mat down stairs or you have to walk up and down stairs every hour or so at the beginning. Also when you have another small child it's not easy to keep disappearing or leaving them alone!

1004Rise · 28/01/2017 07:15

Bra extenders, why didn't I think of that! You're all geniuses, this is why I love this thread

Oh Badger it comes to something when you're voluntarily doing your tax return, hope you're not too tired today.

Love all the fox theme, I am trying to hold myself back from going Winnie the Pooh mad may have a small obsession although since I still haven't bought anything yet I must be doing quite well Smile

We haven't been bought anything baby yet, think we're all a lot more superstitious than we realised. Unless my MIL is secretly stockpiling stuff somewhere Hmm, but I am starting to get asked about colours as my aunts are starting to reach for their knitting needles! My DMum has made me a gorgeous cape (I should really try to pick up some of these crafty skills) so I don't have to buy a coat and I'll still be able to wear it after baby is born when they're in a sling Grin

1004Rise · 28/01/2017 07:18

Does anyone have dogs and still manage to change baby on the floor? Do you just banish them to the other room... I have a very inquisitive Labrador and a daft Golden Retriever.... they won't understand why they can't get in the middle of everything - particularly if we're on the floor....

WishIWasSleeping · 28/01/2017 07:28

They won't hang around too long when the pooh's start to smell...Grin

1004Rise · 28/01/2017 07:43

Wish you haven't met my Lab, the smell is more likely to attract him ShockHmm

peasandquiet · 28/01/2017 07:48

I have to confess at 2 years old I still use our changing table daily for my little boy. I am pretty sure we are the only family ever to do this as the rest of the world proclaims them to be a complete waste of money.
He is a pain for running off while you dress him and he's too chicken to try and get off the table so he is contained to do a nappy or get dressed!
The painting refresh is finished in the new nursery so hopefully will get to put the room back together a bit this weekend. Haven't got any decorative bit for it, will wait and see what we get and what we name then before doing that I think. ( secretly in love with peter rabbit wallpaper but my husbands having none of it!)

peasandquiet · 28/01/2017 07:49

1004 my mum's daft lab usually runs off at nappy time and she likes to be involved in everything!!

teainbed · 28/01/2017 07:58

Also didn't use the changing table much! It looked very pretty with the baskets in it but practically heading upstairs for every nappy change got a bit boring after a while. Grin

savagehk · 28/01/2017 08:09

1004 the good thing with Winnie the Pooh is the newer Disney stuff is unisex (yellow mostly) and the older classic drawings are too (the black and white pencil ones). You could mention that for anyone asking for hints so you don't get too much sexed stuff. Or, if they're keen knitters, ask them to knit a mobile/stuffed toy/blanket?

savagehk · 28/01/2017 08:14

Or, ask for something like this - lots of things for babies to grab/fiddle with. Some babies develop a manic attachment to a comforter, so may be worth asking for two identical ones and alternating so you can wash it occasionally and if you lose one it's not the end of the world!

savagehk · 28/01/2017 08:15

Doh can't attach pic on new android app :(

Barnes79 · 28/01/2017 08:27

So the weird dreams have started. I dreamt my DH had got engaged to a young Japanese girl who in the first dream was more pregnant than me! I woke up, went back to sleep and then the dream kind of continued (although in a different location and with her not pregnant). I feel the need to have a chat to DH to check he's happy Blush Really freaked me out - don't know why I'd be having these dreams cos we aren't (at least as far as I know) having any problems - but I felt that way in the dream too😩

1004Rise · 28/01/2017 08:32

Savage I have a beautiful pencil drawing of pooh & tigger that my DPs bought me for my 21st see obsessed that when we finally do the nursery I want to work around. I could cheerfully spend £100s on the mothercare Winnie the Pooh stuff and the unisexness (new word?) is definitely an attraction!

I will spend the rest of the day wondering what you were trying to attach Smile

FoxMulder · 28/01/2017 09:17

We used our changing table for a long time too. Floor changes killed my back. Always went upstairs for changing too because that's where all the stuff way. Nowhere to put a changing table this time though.

savagehk · 28/01/2017 09:19

Barnes i can recall spending about a day massively pissed off with oh for something (can't remember what now!) That he did in my dream. Did warn the poor man though.

Badgerbird · 28/01/2017 09:49

Finally bought my first baby item yesterday at 23 weeks!!!! Excited!!! I saw this change bag and fell in love with it Smile went totally off piste but it was only £14.99 so can still buy a cheapy plain rucksack for DH and to use with sling. Thanks rustler for tk maxx heads up!

Love the idea of a cape rise!! SuperMum!! Grin

Oh barnes those sorts of dreams are horrid :( it's understandable though as big life changes can cause anxiety without us realising can't they. Try not to dwell on it.
