Okay thank you everyone!! It's my first pregnancy and my GP/MW haven't really been informative at all. I have my first MW app. On the 9th march. Will an early scan be beneficial at all? If so how do I go about arranging these?

Starfish83 · 18/02/2017 12:05

Great news about your scan, mummabubs! 😊

⭐️ xx

Rufus200 · 18/02/2017 13:49

Hi Ladies

Can I join? 12DPO and just got a faint line this morning. DS turned one 2weeks go.
I have no symptoms other then crying a lot. With DS I had very sore boobs and could feel him burrowing in.

Rufus200 · 18/02/2017 13:58

Forgot to say that I am very shocked to have got a BFP. I have PCOS and was on a Clomid cycle but Dr thought it was a failed cycle as follicles were too small at scan.

DrunkenFlamingo · 18/02/2017 14:22

5+3 today and feeling totally exhausted. No sickness yet but some heartburn and really painful boobs (they ate getting bigger too and I'm a G cup already Shock) First baby and total accident so don't feel very prepared. Anyone else in the same boat?

mummabubs · 18/02/2017 14:25

Thanks *starfish!

Luna* I only had an early scan as I experienced some bleeding on Thursday so was instantly referred to my local EPU. If you're not bleeding and not having über bad stomach pains then I'd be inclined to say everything is probably ticking along smoothly and it's just enduring that agonising wait for a 12 week scan! You can get a scan done privately but I think it's about £80-100 which in our case we felt was money better saved for later on the journey. Smile xx

abcdemma · 18/02/2017 15:29

When I was pregnant with DS I felt absolutely fine throughout, went off my food for a bit and sore boobs. Which is how I feel now really!
Drunken we were the same, DS was a total shock and we were so unprepared, but with a bit of research and preparation it was all OK Smile

DrunkenFlamingo · 18/02/2017 15:46

That's good to hear - I've worked and partied hard in the last 6 months so haven't prepared my body for this. I'm 33 and had sort of thought that I wasn't going to have children, so feeling a bit petrified/like its not real. Hopefully as things progress we'll get organised. DP has 2 children so he knows the score thank goodness.

PlayOnWurtz · 18/02/2017 16:36

*drunkenflamingo I feel your pain as I'm a GG if you find any comfy bras please let me know!!

Luna4689 · 18/02/2017 16:49

Thanks mummabubs! I think I'm just over thinking every symptom because it's my first pregnancy. Have my booking appointment in 2 weeks and will see whether or not I can wait for the 12wks scan or not!

DrunkenFlamingo · 18/02/2017 16:56

play i think I'm going to abandon underwire and try to find some supportive crop tops that are big enough. Are your boobs really sore? I'll let you know if I find anything good.

xxmissbrightsidexx · 18/02/2017 17:12

Afternoon ladies, hope everyones okay?Flowers
I feel like i've been hit in the head with a shovel, and cant escape this sickness, really not good and dreading school runs starting again on monday Sad

PlayOnWurtz · 18/02/2017 17:14

Not at the moment they're not but I imagine they will be soon enough. I think I'll be heading the same way as you tbh.

If you do that will be great and I'll keep my eyes peeled too

10storeylovesong · 18/02/2017 17:24

Luna, we only paid for an early private scan because we've had 4 early losses and I didn't want to tell my parents without a scan to check there was a heartbeat. That's really all it was - a heartbeat. It was £50 and worth every penny for a bit of early reassurance, although I'm well aware that it is still early days and things can still go wrong. We have another early scan through EPU on 8th March, but as I'll be 10 weeks by then it didn't feel very early! We didn't have one with my ds, and just waited for the 12 week scan.

mummabubs · 18/02/2017 17:51

It's my first pregnancy too Luna, so know how it feels! I've also had more light bleeding this afternoon, have called out of hours and they're advising me to monitor and rest up. Therefore I'm sat on the sofa with a punnet of grapes watching Lost... what else can you do?!

doomkittycleo · 18/02/2017 18:25

It's my first pregnancy too , but I'm having hardly any symptoms. Mildly nauseous in the morning, but fine once I eat. My boobs were sore for a week or so, but back to normal again now.

It's so hard not to read into symptoms or lack of them.

Just wish we could see what's going on in there.

Anotherminime · 18/02/2017 22:42

For those considering non wired bras I can highly recommend the bravado nursing bra range. I know it's a bit early to think of nursing bras, but they are lovely. Very stretchy and an absolute god send in those early days post birth where your boobs are going haywire!! It'd save you splashing out on more bras than you need if you are considering breastfeeding.

doomkittycleo · 18/02/2017 23:09

I just bought the non wired t shirt bras from m and s. Only £16 for 2 and pretty comfy.

Luna4689 · 19/02/2017 00:36

mummabubs thank god I'm not alone in this whole new thing!!! I'm worried about not finding a heartbeat when I have my first scan. Would people advise an early scan to settle nerves? I've had no bleeding at all so I'm sure all is fine I'm just so nervous but so excited!!

My boobs today feel like they are about to burst so I say that's a sure sign things are going well :)

(Sorry if TMI) .. I am in a bit of discomfort and pain after having sex which is never usually the case. Is this normal?

SophieGiroux · 19/02/2017 05:47

Cautiously joining after a couple of weeks lurking! Am 5+2 and due Oct 20th. This will be baby no2, I already have a DD aged 7 but seems so long ago! Had a pretty easy pregnancy last time, no morning sickness so hoping this one will be the same.
Still a bit cautious as I did have a MC about 6/8 weeks previously. Had the achy boobs, then they stopped aching and it happened. So I'm constantly checking my boobs are still sore!
I'm also from the West Country! Think there was someone on here early in the thread who said they were too.
Writing on here at ridiculous o clock in the morning as seem to have the insomnia which is so unlike me! I've been getting really hot in bed. Have gone from top to toe fleecy thick pyjamas to just a thin pj top and I'm still too hot.
Have a question about exercise, is anyone doing any? My friend wants me to go spinning on mon. I was previously running 5k twice a week (not fast) so have some baseline fitness but obvs don't want to cause any harm. Have heard you should keep heart rate down and not get too hot.

Lovechild2016 · 19/02/2017 06:16

Wow did anyone else's MS hit them suddenly like a ton of bricks or have I picked up a bug?? Lying in bed trying not to gag feel so sick. 5+3 today. Gotta get up and go to work, don't know how I am going to manage 😷

Congratulation and welcome sophie new guidance from Royal college of obstetricians is that exercise is good and safe in pregnancy, provided you're not doing anything new and you don't get so out of breath that you can't hold a conversation and yes don't overheat. I'd say spinning is pretty good as you can control how fast you go and easily stop if needed. I go to crossfit and have kept doing that, one of the girls i go with has just had a baby she is a midwife and kept going until about 34 weeks! Xxx

DrMum83 · 19/02/2017 07:08

loopy your scan day is tomorrow! Exciting! Fx'd all is as it should be. Did you go to Coventry then? I think that will be my next step if this pregnancy doesn't work out as I've read a lot about their NK cells/pred.

lovechild hi! Yeh, mine hit me on Friday night, think some of it was tiredness from a long work day but suddenly felt dizzy, sick and headachey and I wondered if it was a bug but then yesterday had nausea on and off all day too. I hope work goes quickly. Just take loads of snacks like crackers and crisps and try to keep your stomach full at all times, helps for me anyway!

Kirsty8333 · 19/02/2017 08:26

I had been exercising as normal going to classes at the gym until nausea struck me. Don't think I'll be going again until this stops. Spent most of the weekend in bed sleeping and feeling sorry for myself. Got my early scan tomorrow so fx crossed everything is ok this time.

Loopyaboutmy2boys · 19/02/2017 09:21

Drmum yes, I went to Coventry under their self funded part where I paid £360 for the biopsy and scratch but my uterine NK cells were normal. Also went on NHS in the summer and had extra blood tests but all normal. Then went back last autumn for free to have biopsy/scratch repeated and again normal, but they did a new CD138 test which was positive and also diagnosed polycystic ovaries a year ago so definitely rate them, but they have very conflicting theories to Mr Shehata, whose clinic I went to on NHS and it's because of going to Epsom that I've finally been given pred, which I believe is what is making the difference to this baby. So if (and I hope it's not advice you need) but if you have a mc then would strongly recommend pursuing referrals to Coventry and Epsom, as some people have just high UNK, some have just high blood NK like me, and some people have high levels of both. Pred solves a lot of people's problems but some people need intralipids or IVIG, neither of which can be done via NHS...

Kirsty fingers crossed you have a good scan tomorrow too, I'm very nervous about mine.

No morning sickness here, think the pred is meant to mask that symptom, although think from memory I got it about 6 weeks with my boys but I wasn't sick, just nauseous if I ever had an empty stomach.

Oh and good luck with exercising, I'm not one for that lol so the last thing I will be doing is starting now!

emwithme · 19/02/2017 09:34

God I feel SO queasy. I've been trying to explain it to DH, the nearest I've got is when you've had a really big session the night before and are tucking into a giant fried breakfast, and logically you know it's the best thing and once you've had it you'll feel better but on that first mouthful you are wondering whether dying would be a slightly better option.

I did not expect symptoms this early. I'm only 4 + 5 at the moment and they hit me like a wrecking ball Wednesday afternoon - and then we were at a hotel on Thursday/Friday for DH's cousin's wedding on Friday. Fortunately the hotel had "coffee stations" everywhere with lemon & ginger tea so I spend most of the afternoons sipping that. But what do you do when you've puked, so you go to clean your teeth, and doing that makes you puke again?

We told the in-laws on Thursday night (having tried to tell them for two hours but there were loads of other family around; they live abroad so it's not like we could nip to their house to tell them, and I'd much rather do it in person than over the phone/email). It was kind of weird, we let everyone else go through to the restaurant and said we wanted a word, not with everyone around. They looked at me and grinned and said "really" and I said "yes" and then I got giant hugs and DH was standing there looking a bit bemused Grin but MIL was a great help in the "not drinking" subterfuge (I kept having random almost-empty glasses put into my hand when she felt like a new one). But weddings when you're sober are actually a bit shit (It was a lovely wedding but I don't think I've been sober at one since I was 11!)
