Emjmoore you should have a booking in appointment with your midwife when you are about 8 weeks. It's just a form filling exercise and involves taking bloods and isn't anything exciting unfortunately. Usually it's after that appointment that you get your scan date. I'd chase the midwife if you're about 6 weeks along, it can take a couple of weeks to get an appointment so it never hurts to call again. I've not found the midwifery service in my area to be particularly efficient so I'm used to having to call around a bit!!

Emjmoore · 17/02/2017 19:54

Ah thanks! I'll ring on Monday. 😊

DancingUnicorn · 17/02/2017 20:01

I self referred to my local midwifery service and received details of my scan before details of booking in. It's done by a slightly different team, so I guess the scanning team are more efficient ! I got so many leaflets about trials etc, very exciting. Must excitingly an Anthony Nolan leaflet about donating cord blood, so it looks like that's offered at my local birth centre and is definitely something I'd love to do if it's possible at the time!

MrsCharlieD · 17/02/2017 20:12

To anyone who has messaged me about Facebook, I can only invite new members from my laptop for some reason which I've left at work so I won't be able to do it until tomorrow. Really sorry for the delay!

DrMum83 · 17/02/2017 20:13

mumma that's fantastic news! Congrats!

So sorry nimisha I hope you have someone close by to look after you.

Sympathies to the nauseous ladies, mine has also kicked in today but I'll take it if it means my hcg is rising! I got a 3+ today on a cb digi at 4+4 so very cautiously feeling the first pangs of optimism.

I'm not going anywhere near a midwife until I've had a good 8/9 week scan... had fingers burnt too many times before!

Kirsty8333 · 17/02/2017 20:24

No I've not mentioned it to my gp 10storey as I thought they only give you it if your being sick. Can you have it for just nausea?

Zookeeper73 · 17/02/2017 21:13

Nimisha, I'm so sorry to hear that Flowers

Yay, mummabubs, that's great news Smile

charmanar · 17/02/2017 21:32

10storey they should give you something if you're so nauseous it's affecting your daily life. There are various different things they can try and worth giving them all a go. I found them useless last time though, along with the travel bands, you sometimes just have to wait it out Confused

powerpuffer · 17/02/2017 21:43

I'm less nauseous today which brings with it worry! This process isnt straightforward is it?!

UndersecretaryofWhimsy · 17/02/2017 21:48

powerpuffer yeah, that's the joy of the first trimester isn't it? Either you feel like shit or you're worried you don't feel enough like shit.

DancingUnicorn · 17/02/2017 21:58

That about sums it up undersecretary!!

Loopyaboutmy2boys · 17/02/2017 22:17

Well done on the 3+ DrMum83. So you got that 5 days after your 2-3? I wasn't going to test until Monday, as didn't think it would stand a chance until then as I'd be 5+1 based on first ovulation. Have many others got a 3+ before they reached 5 weeks?

charmanar · 17/02/2017 22:20

I'm too scared to do another digital, I'm worried it won't say 3+ and then I'll be full of anxiety for ages with nothing to do about it! Will hold out until I'm about 6 weeks I reckon and then treat myself to yet another POAS Wink

powerpuffer · 17/02/2017 22:56

I got a 1-2 on a Thursday, then a 2-3 the following Thursday and a 3+ on the Sunday when I thought I was 4+6, so just before 5 weeks.

Luna4689 · 17/02/2017 23:49

I haven't had any symptoms other than tiredness and a bit of an achy back with some slight cramps. Everywhere I have read it says to expect MC but I've not even had a hint of this! Should I be worrying?!
Very tearful and just want to spend at least 48hours crying but unfortunately work calls.

Lovechild2016 · 18/02/2017 06:37

luna sorry you are feeling anxious and low. I think being emotional is also a sign! Some women don't get any nausea or other symptoms, I'm 5+2 and barely had any.

I've got to work all weekend and really would rather be anywhere other than work. I've also been worried but just came to realisation what will be will be and nothing I can do will change it so need to chill out.

Hang in there, don't 'expect' a MC just take each day at a time. Have you thought about an early scan? Hope work is ok. Xxx

DrMum83 · 18/02/2017 07:09

Morning
Yeh, I had 1-2 weeks on digi on Wednesday, 2-3 the Sunday following and 3+ five days later (yesterday)
I'm still on edge though, I really don't think anything will help until there's a baby in my arms.
Do feel shitty though, have a blocked nose which I think must be pregnancy rhinitis... anyone else?
Is your location scan this Monday loopy?
If you don't mind me asking, are you having that because of a prev ectopic? X

DebsOctBaby · 18/02/2017 07:49

I totally understand the anxiety, I keep waiting for something to go wrong as it was our first month trying and seems to have gone easy. Plus I found out six days before my period was due so to get to today (4 weeks) has taken forever and been waiting for AF every day!

charmanar · 18/02/2017 07:53

Try not to worry luna, and try not to google too much! Loads of women don't have any symptoms in their whole pregnancy, and you're still earlier anyway, it's usually 6-7 weeks nausea kicks in.
Sorry for everyone who has to work this weekend, it's horrible!

mummabubs · 18/02/2017 08:05

If it helps Luna... I'm 7+3 and had an early scan yesterday so I know things are ticking along fine... but I've had virtually no pregnancy signs whatsoever! My boobs are fine, apart from when I've had a cold I haven't felt nauseous. In fact the only thing I've had is a couple of items of food taste different (but the majority taste the same!)

At around the 5 week mark I felt very anxious about not having symptoms and thinking it must mean miscarriage. I've since spoken to loads of mums in my personal life who had none of the typical signs but now have healthy children Smile I know this first 12 weeks is more stressful due to the increased risk of miscarriage but personally I've taken to telling myself the mantra "Today, I am pregnant". And until anything drastic happens that confirms otherwise I'mma keep on believing that! So don't worry about not feeling pregnant or being a "typical" pregnant lady... today you are pregnant. Smile xx

Presh88 · 18/02/2017 08:28

Totally agree with you mumma Smile
I haven't had sore boobs/extreme nausea either - try to relax and enjoy not feeling terrible!

Loopyaboutmy2boys · 18/02/2017 08:29

drmum yes, scan is 2pm on Monday. I'm having one this early because I'm on fragmin and if it was ectopic, then the last thing you should be on is blood thinners (and I'm also on aspirin). Plus because although with the absence of any investigations into this, the Prof came up with a theory that the reason I had so many losses is that they must be ectopics and my body was doing the right thing getting rid of them. I don't buy into this theory whatsoever and the fact that pred has already made such a positive difference hopefully means I am right! But I don't think he will eat his words until he scan me himself and sees a sac or sacs in the uterus....he said this theory to 2 others who then went to Shehata and one has her baby and the other is due in April. So hopefully he will then think twice about giving out that theory to others in the future as he told me I should do IVF (which would never be something we could afford!)

Mishmishmish · 18/02/2017 09:09

If it's any help to anyone feeling anxious I had Zero symptoms throughout my pregnancy. No nausea, no particular tiredness etc. It wasn't until about month 7 a bump appeared. I ate everything! The only slight 'symptoms' I had were positive ones like craving orange juice and fresh mango. And my son is absolutely fine! Some are just lucky not to be laid low by awful symptoms. I think this pregnancy may alreaady be different as feeling tired so early on...but then again I have a very active toddler who never gives me a moment's peace so could be that!

10storeylovesong · 18/02/2017 09:44

Kirsty - mine is mainly constant nausea, with spells of dry retching and some slight vomiting. I was prescribed cyclizine because it was affecting my day to day life. I was sent home from work and I couldn't even shower as the slight raise in my temp made me dizzy and sick. I had to spend 20 mins after a 5 min shower lay down hugging the toilet. I had cyclizine with my first pregnancy so I just went and asked for it straight out. It doesn't make things wonderful but it takes off the edge and means I can just about function.

Zookeeper73 · 18/02/2017 10:33

Luna, try not to worry (I know it's much easier said than done!), I had virtually no symptoms last pregnancy, only sore boobs, and it was a lovely easy pregnancy. It's not unusual to have no nausea or anything
