Anyone else in Brum/ West Kids?

I filled in the midwife form at the docs feels like ages ago ( couple weeks) but haven't heard anything yet! Currently 6 plus 2 so wasn't expecting the appt yet but thought I might have got an appt time though or a letter/ call to advise I am on the books as it were. Making me feel very anxious.

Thinking of booking a private scan for 8 weeks cos I'm impatient and want to see!

Trytowin · 15/02/2017 08:03

Lol West Mids! Phone typo!

I'm so tired :-( I wake up tired!

PlayOnWurtz · 15/02/2017 08:16

Just as a word of warning an early scan may not be as reassuring as you think. I've had them at 8 weeks and had a nice strong heartbeat and still gone on to lose them. I don't want you ladies to be in the same position I was in and excited things were safe. Think it through carefully if an early scan is something you want xx

Presh88 · 15/02/2017 08:31

Sorry for your loss play. I know an early scan isn't a guarantee that everything will be fine but personally I will find it reassuring to know everything so far is normal, we also haven't told our parents yet and probably will if our early scan is ok.
The stats are "those who saw a heartbeat at 6 weeks of pregnancy had a 78% chance of the pregnancy continuing. Seeing a heartbeat at 8 weeks increased the chance of a continuing pregnancy to 98% and at 10 weeks that went up to 99.4%" - if anyone is thinking of booking one.

PlayOnWurtz · 15/02/2017 08:45

Thanks. I didn't want to put a downer on things just wanted to offer a word of warning! Smile

charmanar · 15/02/2017 09:18

Oh God - so if we make it to 6 weeks we still only have a 78% chance of success? That seems very low!! I have been googling places to get an early scan this morning Hmm the cheapest I can find in London is £80, interested if anyone knows anywhere cheaper - it doesn't have to be fancy!

Emberblu · 15/02/2017 09:22

I'm definitely not one of those with no symptoms Confused I wake up feeling sick and dizzy, force down a biscuit, then feel queasy all day and it gets worse again before bed. The thought of food turns my stomach but I force down several small meals a day. I gag a lot but haven't thrown up so still luckier than some. It's like the worst hang over ever. Then in the evenings I get bad cramps and leg aches so out comes the hot water bottle. Some days there's heart burn that doesn't burn but feels like I have food in my throats and makes me urge. I know I should count myself lucky to have clear signs but right now I just want to cry a lot Sad

GimbleInTheWabe · 15/02/2017 09:26

Hi everyone, sorry I am such a sporadic poster! I read and then forget to reply!

I am now 7+1 and have just under 2 weeks until my midwife appt. all being well our first scan will be at 12 weeks, just after we get back from Iceland!

Symptoms so far have been achey boobs, little bits of cramping, a bit of nausea but no sickness but mainly that I am so tired all the time. I have lost my appetite and have a real aversion to some foods. Even textures and so on make me feel a bit.. bleh. Which was never a problem before!

Annoyingly my DP puts all my symptoms down to 'well it might be that you're pregnant but maybe you're not exercising enough'. Mmmmhmmm..

Fingerscrossed247 · 15/02/2017 09:52

Seatofmypants this is exactly what I'm afraid of as I was so ill so early with my daughter and with this one I was ridiculously tired and dizzy but that all seems to have passed. And I'm 5 weeks. 😔

Lamaitresse · 15/02/2017 10:08

Gimble your dp sounds like my dh - is he an exercise fanatic? Dh does jujitsu about 5/6 times a week, works out and is often to be found either rolling/stretching on the floor or trying to tackle ds (9) 🙄 I even get tackled if I go near enough 😂 Men!

Asilikeit it was me asking - think you and I are v similar wrt massively reduced sickness this time around. Can't wait to get to the scan tomorrow to find out what is going on.

I've always found that an early scan give reassurance for a couple of days - at least you know it's in the right place and it's looking good etc, but as you said play things can go wrong afterwards of course. In Belgium early scans are the norm - we can usually have as many as we like, especially if you're anxious like me If all is well tomorrow I'll try to get another one in a couple of weeks time as got PIL's coming to stay in March and if things are okay will tell them then.

Oh ember I know that feeling, poor you 😞 Just make sure you're drinking enough. Sounds like you are doing a great job managing to eat small bits during the day.

Fingerscrossed247 · 15/02/2017 10:09

Emberblu that was exactly what my first pregnancy was like (for 20 weeks!!) and I'd give anything for that right now as I feel fairly certain I've lost it... I really feel for you cos it's an awful feeling and then you feel like you should be grateful but actually you just feel like death - and can't tell anyone yet!!

Fingerscrossed247 · 15/02/2017 10:30

Is it worth me doing another test? Or will the levels still be there?

Emjmoore · 15/02/2017 10:38

Hi everyone. New to mumsnet but thought I'd give it a go after getting a positive test last week! Due 19th of October according to the app I downloaded. It's really nice in a way knowing that others are feeling similar to me! I thought I was going mad!

Glitterbubble · 15/02/2017 11:09

Oohh gimble I went to Iceland in December, absolutely beautiful place and would recommend to anyone, I would LOVE to go back again!!

Not exercising enough?? ..yeah, cool story bro! That will be it! ...let me guess, he's a gym lover?!

No sickness here really, I've got a bit of a pang at the moment but only if I really focus on it, could easily put I down to hunger.

I don't really feel much is going on at the moment, I don't feel pregnant but this is my first pregnancy, so I only know any different!

The AF type pains that I had for the week leading up to BFP seem to have stopped, Boobs are bigger than usual and I should be having AF right now ....that's the only thing that's allowing me to believe haha

Glitterbubble · 15/02/2017 11:10

Don't know any different*

xxmissbrightsidexx · 15/02/2017 11:13

Hey everyone Smile been wanting to post on here for a few days but just plucked up the courage to x
I got my BFPs on friday (10th), 3 cheapies and a Clearblue which said 2-3. Unsure of duedate yet. I have 3 kids already 11 4 & 2, this was definitely not planned, me & OH are going through a lot of complications right now and i could end up as a single mum, i just hope we manage to work through this. Sorry, going slightly off topic.
I've been feeling iffy for a while now and suspected i was pregnant near enough straight away, just had a gut instinct, so my positive results werent much of a shock to me at all. I've been nauseous & cant stand the taste of my coffee right now, major food aversions too especially bacon butties, i turned one down yesterday and they are my fav Shock, have sore boobs, cramping, very tiny bit of light pink spotting on 13th (such a small amount i think it was an implantation bleed?), vivid dreams, bloating, indigestion, cant poo lol think thats because of the pregnacare tablets i am taking though.
I have mental health problems and kinda freaking out right now about everything, so im glad i have this board to post on, the fact im not alone in a lot of my feelings helps a lot x

Rayna37 · 15/02/2017 11:26

Bought my first weird pregnancy related item yesterday - a salad spinner! Grudgingly accepted I would follow the advice and wash the clearly clean ready washed spinach and rocket for my lunchbox salad and fed up with wet leaves!

Anyone else got a nutrition/do's & don'ts booklet from the docs? Terribly out of date, still says no peanuts, only well cooked eggs and gives awful suggestions like currant buns are "healthy" snacks.

Still sore boobs but no real nausea just the odd wobbly moment requiring a sit down in the morning. Midwife appt booked for Fri 3rd when I'll be almost 10 weeks, wish it was sooner!

Emjmoore · 15/02/2017 11:39

Sorry to hear about your situation brightside. I hope everything gets worked out for you.
The only symptoms I've had are backache, appalling headahes and a tender stomach. Oh and a big skin flare up! It's seems cruel that we can only take paracetamol for the aches and pains!

TippetyTapWriter · 15/02/2017 12:05

Reassuring to hear there are others with few symptoms, though I almost wish we were all chucking our guts up. I had cramps last week but they've stopped. Tiredness has also stopped. No nausea, no food aversions. Just slightly sore boobs! I can't remember this stage of my last pregnancy. I was on holiday at about 8 weeks (currently only 5) and got ill with bronchitis so I remember feeling really rough but that was from the illness. Really tempted to do another test (only done one) but I know I'd just start over-analysing the line and getting panicky about it. Think I'm just going to have to wait and see. Argh. I have had to go to the next hole on my belt, but I think that must just be bloating!!

mummabubs · 15/02/2017 13:17

I'm in the same boat tippy- I'm 7+1 and virtually no symptoms whatsoever. I've been feeling very nauseous the last 2 days but think that's more due to a cold-virus I've picked up from work and as I'm starting to feel less ill the nausea's going too. No sore boobs, maybe a bit tireder than usual but not full on exhaustion yet. I did however have a tiny bit of spotting this morning (v small amount, brown- sorry if tmi!) I've got the midwife tomorrow but to be honest I think it's because last night me and DH had sex last night for the first time in weeks. I'm not cramping or in pain at all and it's not heavy or bright red, so unless any of that changes I'm not letting myself worry. It's a weird journey this isn't it?!

abcdemma · 15/02/2017 13:33

I still eat everything I used to, I don't like pâté/liver or blue cheese and still have soft-ish eggs and nuts etc. Just trying to cut down on the cherry Pepsi lol. I almost wish I was chucking my guts up too because I feel fine, a little queasy when hungry maybe. My migraines stopped during my pregnancy with DS so I hope it's the same for this one too!

Emberblu · 15/02/2017 13:51

Thanks everyone, this is the worst haha. But all for a good reason in the end 🤢

Kirsty8333 · 15/02/2017 15:21

I'm the same Emberblu. I'm feeling nauseous all day long. It's reassuring to have the symptom but also getting me down. I feel like I might have to tell my manager as I'm finding it hard to focus at work. I'm going to the doctors tomorrow to ask if I can have an early scan and got my first midwife appointment Friday.

PlayOnWurtz · 15/02/2017 15:25

I've been so nauseous today all day and it's not stopped. I'm only 4.5 weeks!!! My mum had hyperemisis so I'm hoping it's not that
