Hi everyone, can I join? Due with my second on 15th October. My ds is nearly two so I've hardly had time for it to sink in, and had four early miscarriages already (all by five weeks) so maybe I'm tempting fate by joining this club but I so want this bean to stick around I'm determined to act as though it will!! Positive thinking, right?! Currently spending half my time stressing because ds is still a shit sleeper with no signs of improvement, and the other half of my day getting excited and googling nice maternity clothes and double buggies!!

harrietm87 · 08/02/2017 15:33

I had my GP appt today - have thyroid issue so needed to be seen early in case my medication needs to be increased. Felt weird to have doctor say congrats as it hasn't really sunk in for me yet and I've only told DH so far!

GP referred me to midwife at our nearest hospital, but not sure yet that's where I want to go (have heard some bad things). Is anyone self-referring to a hospital other than their nearest? And if so how far away is it?

wishmeluck16 · 08/02/2017 16:25

harriet, I have thyroid issues (over active) and therefore I am not allowed to pick my own hospital etc as apparently I am not allowed a midwife lead pregnancy, but instead will be sent to an OB consultant? :-/

NotMyPenguin · 08/02/2017 16:26

How interesting that a blocked nose can be a symptom of pregnancy! I've had one that won't go away for the last few weeks...

Am also exhausted and slept for two hours today! It's lucky I don't have a full workload at the moment (I'm self-employed and freelance) as I'm so totally knackered.

harrietm87 · 08/02/2017 18:09

wishmeluck that's interesting. I'm hypo. My GP said today that I would be assigned an Ob but I didn't realise that could impact the hospital - just assumed I'd get an obstetrician at the hospital of my choice - guess it's not like that? I'm a bit worried as both hospitals near me (east London) have quite bad reputations for maternity services afaik.

CarpeDiem83 · 08/02/2017 18:44

dancing unicorn my non drinking excuse was illness but was clearly not believed - should have been more specific!

Feeling really tired today and a bit nauseous - seem to have different combo of symptoms every day so far!

DancingUnicorn · 08/02/2017 19:08

Carpe I think I'm going to go with I have a big meeting in the morning and can't have any hint of a hangover... but I think that will be met with scepticism! Though honestly, the person I'll be giving to id probably be happy with her knowing. If the worst were to happen, I'll almost certainly tell her about it anyway! Strange to still be a complete secret!

Were GP appointments useful at all? I knew I'd have to wait best part of a fortnight for an appointment, so I googled my nearest service, really local, and self referred. But feels less real because I've not actually spoken to a medical professional... and guess I won't until booking appointment! Kind of hoped for a number to call in case of problems. I guess if I'm worried about anything and dont have contact details for midwife service I should just phone GP anyway?

Cath1212 · 08/02/2017 19:20

Hi everyone, I would love to join the October club!
Only 5 weeks along and it is my first. It has happened quite quickly which is great but a bit overwhelming at the same time

It just doesn't feel real at the moment! Not many symptoms yet but have been feeling cold - didn't realise that could be a symptom until now!

Looking forward to sharing the experiences :-)

harrietm87 · 08/02/2017 19:25

dancing my GP was useless. Gave me a crappy pack with nappies and vouchers for pampers and dettol in it (wtf?!). Token attempt to tell me not to smoke and drink and weighed me. That's it! You haven't missed out!

firsttimebeancarrier2015 · 08/02/2017 19:48

Can I join too. Super early days but due date around mid October. This will be my second. My first is just over one. Super excited but also can't quite imagine having two! If it's ok I'll hold off on joining the Facebook group for now until after the first scan - think it will feel a bit more real then!

MrsCharlieD · 08/02/2017 19:59

Welcome newbies! Glad to have you all on board!

Tippety my ds is 2 and his sleep is rubbish. We're still cosleeping a lot and he wakes multiple times in the night. Don't know how were going to manage with 4 in the bed!

conkerchops · 08/02/2017 20:19

My stuffed nose is soooo stuffy this evening!!! Is it caused by the surge in hormones?
I will have consultant led care at the hospital as I have rheumatoid arthritis - will have the same guy as I had for dd and ds who happens to be ds's best friends dad!

MrsCharlieD · 08/02/2017 20:32

I've got more of a runny nose which I remember from last time. My back is killing me tonight and I'm tired but ds is asleep and dh is away with work so I'm determined to enjoy some crappy TV and some hardboard 😀

MrsCharlieD · 08/02/2017 20:33

Err haribo not hardboard!

Bubbles225 · 08/02/2017 21:25

Sounds like a lovely relaxing evening MrsCharlie Smile

DancingUnicorn · 08/02/2017 21:51

Sounds nice Charlie.

Time is going so slowly! Trying to keep myself occupied and informed while I wait a lifetime for next few weeks to pass! Has anyone read any pregnancy books? Is there anything you recommend?

TinySalmon · 08/02/2017 21:57

Dancing I bought What To Expect When You're Expecting which is full to the brim of information but I found it jumped around quite a bit and was information-overload at times.

I bought two other pregnancy books which were about healthy eating in pregnancy.... that went out the window around Week 7 when all I ate was melted butter on toast and macaroni cheese for 2 months straight Grin

Lovechild2016 · 09/02/2017 02:42

Night shift and I feel like death and am very very grumpy! Haha tinysalmon love the macaroni cheese diet. I think I'll be joining the beige only diet very soon.

DancingUnicorn · 09/02/2017 03:05

Lovechild. Sorry you're feeling so rough! Hope you get through the shift ok. I could never cope with night shifts! Currently hating this moment in time as absolutely cannot get back to sleep!

angelicjen · 09/02/2017 06:12

Wow, haven't looked for a few days and our list has really grown! Congratulations everyone.
Anyone else North Bristol Trust? Their booking system is useless :(

TequilaSetAWatchman · 09/02/2017 06:52

I've just bought What to Expect When You're Expecting which I'm looking forward to reading. It's a bit America centric tho from the sample. Although they have tried to include UK specific info, there's a lot of stuff like "choosing an obstetrician" which I'm pretty sure isn't possible here (unless you pay £££££ and go to the Portland or something)

TinySalmon · 09/02/2017 07:26

"Beige diet" 😂😂 @lovechild2016

Omg I'm soooooo bloated and only 4 weeks today. I bought these beautiful white skinny jeans in Dubai in December, so literally only 2 months ago, and I wanted to wear them out yesterday for lunch... I couldn't breathe it them! The button refused to stay in place.

My day-to-day jeans still fit. JUST. Think I'll just give up soon and dig out my mat jeans. Wasn't in mat jeans till about 12 weeks last time Blush or maybe I'm just fat

Kirsty8333 · 09/02/2017 08:04

I know how you feel TinySalmon I did an extra session at the gym yesterday as I'm already starting to feel like I'm putting on weight. Thats not helped with me being hungry and bloated all the time. Last time I was starting to show at 10 weeks and this will be my third

TinySalmon · 09/02/2017 08:27

Kirsty, tell me about it! 😳 there's no way I will be able to hide this pregnancy till 12 weeks.

Here is me at 14 weeks last year. I don't even look like this now 🙁🙁🙁

harrietm87 · 09/02/2017 08:38

Omg tiny you look incredible!

kirsty I don't know how you've been to the gym - I'm so exhausted feel like can barely stay awake at my desk never mind exercise!
