@tammie49 - he is 21 months, nearly 22. I was hoping he'd self wean after I went back to work but although he drinks cow's milk very happily during the day, or if I'm out in the evening, he always wants to be breastfed if I'm around. I'm going to wait and see how it goes.

Mulberry2627 · 05/02/2017 20:27

Powerpuffer I love ginger cake and ginger biscuits (but don't like ginger to cook with!) and have also stocked up, will be putting them in my lunchbox tomorrow 😊

Presh food isn't helping at the minute. I managed a ginger biscuit this morning for
'breakfast' but couldn't eat until lunch time because of the nausea feeling and just the smell of my husband cooking eggs this morning made me run and be sick!

Tammie I have a pack to take in to keep in the cupboard, my class are so nosey they follow me everywhere and will definitely want to know why I'm allowed to eat them and they are not! What year group do you teach?

piraterach · 05/02/2017 20:53

Sorry for your loss pidgy Flowers

Mulberry, presh* I've hit the nausea point too Envy. Feeling constantly green and food seems to make it worse. Will have to stock up on the ginger biscuits too, at this rate there will be a shortage soon! Lol

MrsCharlieD · 05/02/2017 20:56

I'm so sorry for your loss pidgy x

tammie49 · 05/02/2017 21:09

I'm so sorry @pidgy.

@Daisy your DC is a bit older then. I expected to be going till 2 but I'll have 2 kids by then. Do you think you'd tandem feed?

@mulberry I teach MFL in a secondary school so they're all teenagers. I assume you teach primary.

Pregnancy has got me out of haggis for tea tomorrow!! Smile

Emberblu · 05/02/2017 21:34

Oh pidgey I'm so sorry Flowers

DaisyFranceLynch · 05/02/2017 21:52

@tammie - I'm not sure. I initially thought I'd try to keep going until six months (he was combination fed for a lot of the early months so not ebf), then a year. After that I just decided to let him self-wean - but I was expecting it to happen before DC1 came along.

I never thought I'd be tandem feeding and not sure how it works in practice. I think I will try to find out more about it - if DC1 doesn't stop on his own I don't want to wean him just before the new baby arrives, since he is starting nursery at around the same time, and I think that might be too much change all at once.

JackiePaper · 05/02/2017 22:04

I'm so sorry pidgy Flowers wishing you a speedy recovery xx

This morning sickness malarkey doesn't sound like much fun is coming my way! Only 4+ weeks here and no sickness just achey boobs and tiredness. Oh and extreme clumsiness! Anyone else experiencing this? I keep dropping things and nearly bumped into the bathroom wall earlier whilst brushing my teeth! Hmm

Kirsty8333 · 05/02/2017 22:06

Sorry to hear that pidgy xx

DancingUnicorn · 05/02/2017 22:11

Jackie, yeah I feel a bit clumsy/not quite with it! Think I may just be imagining it though. Dreading the nausea. Have a longish bus commute... good tips on the ginger biscuits, and I think if it's bad I may have to follow power and buy some sick bags!

Twinklelittlestar1 · 05/02/2017 22:41

Pidgy, I'm so sorry to hear your news. Take care of yourself.

For those of you with sickness- pink lucozade, ice lollies and Rich tea biscuits helped me. Sickness bands and acupuncure and as much rest as possible. I was off work for six weeks last time so I've just prepared my little sickness station with hot water bottle/ DVDs/ gaviscon/ pjs/ jogging bottoms. Mine started at 6 weeks last time but I'm hoping I'm in the group that gets less nausea and sickness this time...

HollyMay84 · 05/02/2017 22:44

Jackie yep I get the clumsiness every time! I dropped a whole pot of salt on the floor yesterday! Also look out for putting kettle in fridge whilst trying to plug the milk into the wall Grin

I'm literally just over 4 wks so not really experiencing obvious symptoms yet. Other than the clumsiness, crying my eyes out at a puppy programme early don't ask! And the tiredness is creeping in, that's about it so far. Bring it on! Famous last words Smile

Twinklelittlestar1 · 05/02/2017 22:54

Oh! Just remembered re the nausea, I learned that pregnacare is renowned for making it worse and my midwife encouraged me to switch to simple folic acid with vitamin d (we get it free here but you can get in cheaply in Superdrug)

DancingUnicorn · 05/02/2017 23:02

Twinkle fx it's easier for you this time!

Mulberry2627 · 06/02/2017 06:27

Twinkle I'm not taking pregnacare but I do have a boots one that has folic acid and vitamins in it, do you think it could have the same effect?

I have to leave for work now and have been up since 4 being sick, not managed to eat anything. I bent down to get the milk out the fridge and had to run and be sick in the sink then just made it to the bathroom! This is going to be a rough morning!!

Tammie yes I'm a primary teacher, I teach Reception!

tammie49 · 06/02/2017 07:09

It's so hard but I think you have to try your best to keep eating little and often. A lot of it is down to blood sugar.

Twinklelittlestar1 · 06/02/2017 08:44

Hi mulberry,

Your vitamin could well be contributing. I have a multi vitamin that I was taking pre pregnancy and this would always make me feel sick if I had it on an empty stomach as it's such a strain on the digestive system.

I found that I would crave the foods my body could 'manage'- pasta, waffles, bread. I also found I had a lot of trigger foods too- dairy, anything acidic or high in sugar. Don't be scared to take time off if you are struggling- pregnancy sickness can be rough. The term 'Morning sickness' is an insult to what many of us have to go through!

tammie49 · 06/02/2017 11:37

I keep getting cramps around my lower abdomen that are radiating up into the rest of my stomach. Anyone else? It's no fun. I feel rotten today!! I didn't even know at this point the last time I was pregnant.

DancingUnicorn · 06/02/2017 11:43

Tammie I've been getting cramps too, especially in the evenings. (Everything seems more acute in the evenings). No sickness for me (yet) but still only 4+3 and the nausea is starting to get a bit worse in the evenings.

Mulberry I'm sorry it's hitting you so hard already. Fx you get through the day unscathed. I know it's a hard job to take time off from, but look after yourself and take the time if you need to!

powerpuffer · 06/02/2017 11:57

I have the cramps too. Massively disconcerting as it feels like period cramps. Sore boobs and nipples too but nothing much else to report at 5+1 for me.

donkey86 · 06/02/2017 12:04

Nausea's getting to me too, though I've only been sick once so far and that was after a somewhat ill-advised dinner. I'm really craving plain pasta today for some reason. I have a packet of ginger nuts but just can't face them!

Tammie, I had cramps like that a lot a couple of weeks ago, though they've stopped now I'm 6 weeks.

Presh88 · 06/02/2017 12:25

My nausea has gone today - instead of that being a good thing it's making me feel concerned! Roll on the early scan I have booked next week to hopefully put my mind at ease (at least for a day or two Hmm)

tammie I've had cramps like that on and off since finding out. Last week they felt like quite strong AF cramps but seems to have settled down over the weekend

TinySalmon · 06/02/2017 13:31

hi everyone

I am cautiously sticking my head above the parapet to say I got my BFP and am due 19th October. Early days so don't want to get over excited.

Like twinkle I find myself here from a sad journey. This is my second pregnancy after going in to labour with my son at 20 weeks last August due to missed complications by the hospital. He lived for 3 minutes before his tiny lungs gave out. Just to add insult to injury my son was the result of years TTC and IVF and this new pregnancy is also thanks to the miracles of IVF and a lot, a lot, of money.

I'm sorry to read about your mc pidgy. There are some lovely ladies over on the ttc after miscarriage board who can provide some support xx

On the last antenatal thread I was on in my first pregnancy we had a running list of ladies and their EDDs plus their 'team': yellow, pink, or blue. In my last pregnancy we were firmly Team Yellow all the way through but I think this time around we will find out (if we get past 12 weeks that is!!!).

I've made a list and will post after this.

If I've spelt anyone's username incorrectly or their EDD has changed just pm me and I will update it. Then whoever starts the new thread just copy and paste the updated list so we can all see it at all times :)

Hi folks,

Another tentative joiner here (but absolutely thrilled to have got my BFP!). 😊 Due date based on LMP is 14th October, so I'm 4w 2d pregnant. It's my 1st and I'm already finding these early weeks challenging - desperately want everything to go smoothly.

TinySalmon, could I please be added to the list?

Happy Monday all, and lovely to be joining this thread.
