Gorgeous!

MyGreenSofa · 07/02/2017 21:01

HL - ironing bodysuits, now that's commitment!

MyGreenSofa don't worry this will be the only time they see an iron! Or indeed the inside of a drawer! Living out of a washing basket is definitely the way to go. Today's efforts purely to show off to MIL Wink

marmitecheesetoast · 07/02/2017 21:14

Thanks for all the hospital bag advice! Just need to get packing now!

Have just been trying to do some glute and hip flexor stretches plus getting my DH to give my IT band a good rub this evening to try and release things off a bit, really hoping for a better night's sleep tonight as really struggled at work today.

Wow very organised HL! I've washed some of mine now but not sure whether or not I'll iron! Part of my problem now, similar to others, is that baby's room is currently still spare bedroom with grown up furniture full of other stuff in there so don't really feel I have anywhere to put stuff away!

everdene · 08/02/2017 07:58

Marmite I was debating putting my older baby clothes eg 6-9 months, in space bags and putting them all away, then just hanging up the new baby things so they are all ready. Obviously I'll have to get some rails to do that! Confused

abeandhalo · 08/02/2017 09:17

Maybe be a coincidence but last night on my dad's recommendation I had a little bit of milk immediately before I went to bed & didn't wake up with horrendous heartburn like I have done for a week. Will be doing the same tonight though to see if it works!

PGP is still not great though, I'm more comfortable throughout the day but the round ligament pains are just debilitating.

amelie427 · 08/02/2017 13:46

It seems like everyone is so organised! I've bought a total of three babygrows, so I've got a fair bit to do...! We went for a John Lewis Nursery Advice appt this morning, which was great by the way, first-timers! Absolutely no obligation to buy anything, but they create an online list for you - which you can add and remove items, and even send onto friends and family if they want to buy anything for you. As you purchase items, they store everything and then deliver it a month before your due date.

How is everyone getting on with choosing a pushchair? After this morning, we've narrowed down the pushchair options to a Bugaboo Bee and an iCandy Strawberry... we can't actually order the current Bee, as they are launching a new one in March. But my other half really liked the iCandy anyway, the wheels seemed sturdier. I've had so many personal recommendations for a Bee though, so I'm inclined to go that way. Does anyone have any thoughts?

(We live in London, in a house so no stairs to worry about - but near a big park we like walking in, so worried the Bee might not hold up on rougher terrain).

HLBug · 08/02/2017 14:19

We have the icandy strawberry (version 1 though) and I really like it. Nice and light but also sturdy. Only gripe is not much storage under the carry cot when you have that on for first few months - but that's no biggy really. I like the fact it can fold as one piece (in seat mode, not carry cot) as other friends with other models have to take the seat off first which just looks like a royal faff.

amelie427 · 08/02/2017 15:26

Thanks HLBug, good to hear positives for the Strawberry.

Would love to hear from Bee users too!

Hi everyone,
Haven't been on here for ages!!
peanut I'm so sorry about the stealing!! That's so awful that someone you have given a job to would steal from you.

marmite NCT was good... apart from someone suggesting masterbation during labour Blush!!!

Feeling so massive at the moment and really waddling! I'm also getting really fed up of wearing the same bloody maternity clothes!!

Hope everyone is ok, the hospital bag lists are amazing! I'm going to sort mine next week on half term.

TopKittyKat · 09/02/2017 09:26

Ha ha Jpeg - I think masterbation will be the last thing in your mind!

I'm off for an infant feeding class for first-timers at my local birthing centre. It's three hours! Is it really that complicated?

marmitecheesetoast · 09/02/2017 10:39

Haha jpeg!! Not quite masturbation, but we were talking about nipple stimulation as a way of getting things going/progressing labour at ours! Hmm

Glad the milk is helping for your heartburn abe. Something I've somehow managed to avoid myself so far (probably just jinxed myself) but had heard milk was supposed to be good.

Baby movements are so funny now, lots of slow firm pushes that are really obvious even through a couple of layers of clothing, my colleague kept staring at my undulating bump in a meeting yesterday!

Hope the BFing class is good Kittykat let us know how it goes!

Got 31 week MW appointment tomorrow. Wondering how the bump measurement will go given it was right at the top of the scale last time..!

abercorn · 09/02/2017 11:45

Amelie i am in the same boat, still havent bought the pushchair but i would take one if uppababy cruz or bee. Both good for short height ppl, can close easily, lt weight, both sides facing.
I dont have experience but heard that bee does reasonably well in some london terrains despite not being a country pushchair.

Good luck.

CastleFeck · 09/02/2017 16:47

I'm loving all the pram talk and living vicariously through you all. I've got to use our 8yr old cameleon (which is ok as a pram, but I hate it as a pushchair so use n macclaren quest from 5months)

This week I've washed and put together the car seat and Moses basket. Dd has claimed the lot for her baby Annabel. Also I'm having moments of 'oh crap, how will I cope'.
I've ordered a GBS swab kit to do at 36 weeks, hypno birthing cd starts at 32 weeks and I've looked to hire a Tens machine. So got some stuff ticked off the list (there is no actual list this time it's just in my head)

everdene · 09/02/2017 22:34

Marmite I haven't been told I'd get a 31 week appointment, my next one is 34 weeks... wondering if I have been forgotten!

marmitecheesetoast · 09/02/2017 22:51

Hmm, remind me is it your first Everdene? Maybe it's one of the extra ones for first time mums?! If in doubt I guess check with your midwives!

Castle I had been wondering about ordering GBS test too. Did you do it last time too?

purpleviolet1 · 09/02/2017 22:53

What's a GBS test guys??

TopKittyKat · 10/02/2017 08:50

GBS is the Group B Strep test Purple. Some trusts test for it, others don't it seems.

So, it turns out you can talk about infant feeding for three hours. Our session even overran by 20mins as we were all asking so many questions. They showed us a video of a mum and baby immediately post birth having skin to skin and explained the signs to look for that show your baby is ready for the first feed.
There was explanations on why breastfeeding can go wrong and how to minimise the risk of this.
It wasn't done in a pressurised 'breast is best' way either and they explained the scenarios where you might need formula.
It was a great workshop!

CastleFeck · 10/02/2017 12:50

Yep I've done the GBS swabs for both previous pregnancies, both came back negative. a woman I know lost her newborn due to GBS so it was on my radar.

The GBS website has lots of useful info if anyone has questions. The swabs are about £35, home testing kit. Basically if you test positive you have IV antibiotics during labour. The UK doesn't routinely screen, but this is under review and many other counties do screen all pg women.

JennyOfOldstones · 10/02/2017 21:02

I did the GBS test last time and will do it again as it comes and goes.

I have a 31 week midwife appt I wasn't expecting, apparently it's for the growth chart.

MygirlKeith · 10/02/2017 22:13

I'm in a lot of pain around the top of my right thigh. I'm a bit worried as that's the hip I had operated on last May. The hip itself is fine but it's like I have a tight band at the front inside of my leg. Is it pelvis issues do we think? I had terrible SPD with Stru but I can't really remember how it felt!

marmitecheesetoast · 11/02/2017 14:04

Sorry to hear you're also suffering mygirl. Midwife referred me for Physio yday although who knows when I'll actually get an appointment! Another absolutely awful sleep last night feeling a bit miserable. Got family arriving today to stay til Monday as well and I'm really not feeling it...especially with the house still in a semi building site state Hmm

Quick question - has anyone actually managed to get the bounty Mum to be pack yet?!? I've tried quite a few times in (big) Tescos and they're never in stock! Also I've downloaded the app to get it instead as I never got the first pack and voucher from the midwife and customer services person today said they wouldn't accept the app anyway only the voucher. Angry It's more the principle now I'm sure it's not even that exciting just don't like missing out on free stuff!! Wink

purpleviolet1 · 11/02/2017 16:18

Watching closely as I also never got the first pack and do want some freebies!
