Hi all - looks like I'm first here! I'm pregnant with #1, due 2 September. Got my BFP a couple of days ago and already it feels like a rollercoaster ride - I'm utterly thrilled, anxious about the possibility of a loss and terrified at the thought of the birth! But hey, bring it on! Smile

Hi everyone. Can I join?
I got my BFP yesterday. EDD is 4th Sept and it's come as a major shock. We have been TTC #1 since late August. But I have other medical issues and needed an MRI scan. So we actually held off DTD this cycle but it looks like I ovulated early and invoked Sod's law!! Well, didn't have my scan yesterday. We are so very happy.

Congratulations everyone. X

2plus1plusL1 · 01/01/2017 21:56

Hi, just thought I'd drop in. Had a BFP on Christmas Day. Already have 2 DC - 5 and 3.
I have history of early miscarriage so I'm cautiously excited.

I had occasional bouts of slight nausea but it might just be in my head as I'm just over 5 weeks!

FXSkip · 01/01/2017 22:17

Hello mouse!! Nice to see a familiar face Smile
2plus Congrats! I've also had a mc recently so I just can't believe this is real. Fx for you, it's total heartache not knowing what's going to happen!
gui I had an early scan when I found out about mc, at 7 weeks, and am having another early scan next week - also 7 weeks. I cannot imagine spending the next 7 weeks thinking I have a baby growing if I don't. It's £99 here. well spent in my opinion but bear in mind they can barely see anything this early.

WhiteLily86 · 01/01/2017 23:21

Hello all, ok if I join? I found out on 29th that we are due our first. What a surreal few days. Just got married in september, and were 'trying' but not 100% as was still getting used to Ovia app etc. Apparently it works :) due on 6th September according to some googled calendar. Had the IB 10 days before period was due and felt I had a lot of little flutters in lower abdomen. Other than that only other symptom was getting the cold ha! Have been struggling with it for few days now and had fun since finding out since we are hosting DH family and I am probably normally the biggest drinker out of all of us so fake drinking last night was tricky, but we got there. Scared and excited at once!!

Called docs other day and I don't need to see doc, they gave me midwife number.

guigirl14 · 01/01/2017 23:23

FXSkip yes I think you make a really good point there. When you've had MC your mind can't stay off the worrying. We will probably splash the cash!

MouseLove · 01/01/2017 23:36

Hey skip!!!!! 😘
Was thinking about having an early scan, but as I actually have no symptoms yet I'm thinking I might make the decision in a few weeks. I'm 5 weeks tomorrow (and that is super weird to say) is it a specific company that do early scans or should I just google it??

FXSkip · 02/01/2017 07:56

Welcome and congrat whitelily! It's a wierd time to get a bfp, when there's so much boozing going on lol, and then January is going to feel like 15weeks long on its own anyway!
mouse I used ultrasound direct but not sure if they have a location near you. Apparently if you've had an mc before some docs will offer it at epu but for us the epu is ages away and I don't like having to sit with all the pregnant people!

Stalingrad · 02/01/2017 08:51

Welcome Skip, WhiteLily and 2plus. Congrats!

I have an upset tummy now. Yuck. I guess this is the start of the sickness. I've suffered every pregnancy but always forget how grim it is.

Re early scans. I've paid every time. I'm too impatient to wait. If anyone loves in London I would highly recommend the Getal Medicine Centre on Harley Street. It's run as a medical research charity so it's not for profit and all your money goes into Fetal medicine research. It's run by the Professor who invented the nuchal fold test and introduced NPTY screening to the Uk. It's also staffed by amazing people and has state of the art machines that show so much better detail than most places. I will also have my 12 week scan and NPTY screening there after bad experiences at my local hospital.

Stalingrad · 02/01/2017 08:53

Sorry, me again! Just to say that there is not much point booking an early scan before seven weeks as they often can't find a heartbeat before then so you just worry more.

Jaffacakes1234 · 02/01/2017 09:05

I'm thinking of an early scan, trying to work out if I can justify it, and also thinking my last mc was at 11+2 so not even sure an early scan would reassure for long

Stalingrad · 02/01/2017 09:12

Gish I can't type. I should have said if anyone LIVES (not loves!) in London then I recommend the FETAL (not Getal).

Jaffa, that's a hard decision. Does your NHS trust scan at exactly 12 weeks? Ours has moved to 13 weeks, if that the same for you then maybe have a private scan at 11 and your NHS at 13.

HellsBellsK · 02/01/2017 09:50

Ugh I feel the sickness might be starting. Don't feel great at all this morning, tummy feels sick.

I also have a head cold that I cant get rid of and iv a headache from stuff noes. I suffer from migraines so I really hope I don't get any.
At least Im going to the doctor tomorrow.

Hope everyone is feeling good.

Jaffacakes1234 · 02/01/2017 10:37

No starlingrad they scan between 11-14 weeks!! Last scan was planned for 13+5 and with my other pregnancies I've been a week more than I should be by my periods so I probably would have been 14+5 for my 12 week scan, so with that in mind I've been a bit vague with my dates, it's not a lie I haven't had a period since July (mc in September) and a hysteroscopy mid November so I know I wasn't pregnant then so I've told them when my last breed was (after hysteroscopy) which would make me 2 weeks more than I realistically think I am (I did opks otherwise I really wouldn't know so no lies just haven't mentioned the opks, as might not get an NHS scan til 14-15 weeks if I said I knew when I ovulated! Midwife booking at end of Jan so deffo won't be really early scan. Seriously thinking of a private one though

Jaffacakes1234 · 02/01/2017 10:38

Bleed not breed 🙈

londonfeather · 02/01/2017 10:39

I don't think I will go for an early scan - maybe just do another test in a few weeks time, I haven't really thought about it. Still in shock really! I've had a look at the hospitals near me and they are all self refers so I'm debating between two hospitals at the moment. Tricky to work out which would be best, I think I'm going to go with Chelsea & Westminster so if anyone has any positive/negative experiences with them let me know.

Stalingrad · 02/01/2017 10:50

London - I had my third child at Chelsea and West 3.5 years ago. It was very good. The hospital is clean and new. I never waited too long in the antenatal clinic. The labour ward support was fab. The post natal ward was less good but no hospital seems to do that well. They all prioritise the antenatal and labour care. I was given a 1
in 10 chance of DC3 having Down Syndrome and so was assigned a genetic counsellor who was really knowledgable and supportive. I haven't a bad word to say about the hospital except that I went into labour while Chelsea were playing and that made it fun getting to the labour ward through grid locked traffic!

Football aside The location is great because if you are an inpatient at any point your other half can but you lovely food from the myriad of great cafes on your doorstep. I even had cake in Carluccios while in labour! What's your other choice? I had DC1 in St Thomas' and DC2 in Queen Charlottes and I am definitely choosing Chelsea and West again out of those three.

londonfeather · 02/01/2017 11:34

Stalingrad,
Thank you so much for the detailed run down - so helpful! And good to hear that your experience there was pretty good overall. Oh gosh, match day traffic - you poor thing!! The other option really is Kingston, which is 2 miles further away but I thought may be quicker to get to in an emergency. St. George's is another option but I have a friend who had an awful experience so has put me off really. I think I'll go with Chelsea as it's just by work too so will be handy for any appointments where Kingston is the opposite direction!

laurenmarie88 · 02/01/2017 11:41

Anyone else got the worst nausea ? Ergh I feel like I've been drinking all week

Nw85 · 02/01/2017 11:56

Hi...
Found you all, I'm due 12/09 according to dates which coincidentally is my 32ND birthday!
My boob's are sore and I'm happy to nap at the moment. Stupidly excited and giddy. Xx

MouseLove · 02/01/2017 12:37

Thanks for the scan info. Will have a look in my area, I'm in Manchester.

I really have no idea what I'm meant to do now. I'm guessing my doctors would be a start as I have other medical issues (hence the non MRI scan. Whoops) and I'm guessing they would give me all the info I need for midwifes. I can't believe I'm already 5 weeks today. 😳🙈

londonfeather · 02/01/2017 13:17

I cursed myself yesterday saying no symptoms! Just been sick after feeling nauseous all day. Eurgghh I thought this would all come a lot later!!!!

guigirl14 · 02/01/2017 13:51

Laurenmarie88 yes super nauseous! In the evenings mostly - in the car I'm getting motion sickness. And my blood sugars are all over the place. One minute I'm fine the next minute my body is begging for lunch. Hope you're coping better than me, I just want to lie down every half hour!!

Nw85 · 02/01/2017 13:54

I'm only officially due my period tomorrow and I feel dreadful, this is my 4th pregnancy, only suffered like this with second.

lilyborderterrier · 02/01/2017 14:22

I'm nearly 6 weeks and no real symptoms yet as I did with my 1st, but I'm feeling rubbish as I've had a head cold since New Year's Eve. Feel rubbish and hate taking paracetamol but my head and sinuses are killing me. I had a houseful of friends over for 3 days and I'm sure they were suspicious as I didn't drink but I resisted saying anything !

Nw85 · 02/01/2017 15:29

We've known two days and struggling not blurting it out 😂 how will I ever get to Feb?
