Hi all - looks like I'm first here! I'm pregnant with #1, due 2 September. Got my BFP a couple of days ago and already it feels like a rollercoaster ride - I'm utterly thrilled, anxious about the possibility of a loss and terrified at the thought of the birth! But hey, bring it on! Smile

littlepooch I am absolutely exhausted, DH is still off work at the moment so I've been able to lie down but I genuinely don't know what I'll do when I'm in charge of DD (3) and DS (10 months) all day. I'm a stay at home mum so no escape. I feel like crying at the thought! I felt like utter death last time for 12 weeks, I know it ends but while you're in it it seems never ending! And I'm only just 5 weeks. 9/10 weeks were the worst for me last time I think

Jaffacakes1234 · 30/12/2016 18:04

starlingrad bet that was a major shock for him!
Mine are the opposite, my boys are generally better sleepers, but they are pretty much all sleep adverse, my dd is by far the worst sleeper!
I'm working in half an hour actually can't wait , my boobs are so sore and my 21 month old wants to feed constantly and Ira agony! 4 hours away from the boob monster!

roobois · 30/12/2016 20:28

I don't know how all you 2nd3rd4th time round mums do it. This is my first and I am totally exhausted. I walked round the shops today and had to have a nap after. I've completed the online form for getting booked in for a midwife as the receptionist at my doctors said that you don't need to see the doctor to confirm? Has anyone else been told this or have you all gone to your doctors?

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 30/12/2016 20:43

Roobois I'm glad you suggested this as I've just looked up my GP's info page and apparently I just have to speak to midwife too.
I think re first time, it's such a shock to the system. I remember working shorter shifts than normal and still coming home exhausted, napping on the sofa all the time cos you just could.
I am planning on early bed times as much as possible from now on - I'm normally a real night owl but with a 2 yr old who doesn't nap anymore I just don't see how naps are going to happen.
Kudos to the 3rd/4th timers Halo

Shwighty1 · 31/12/2016 00:09

I actually napped cuddling my ds the other day whilst he watched a movie on tv!! With my 1st pregnancy I wad working on the road a lot and I would pull over on to a layby on a country lane and sleep for 15-20mins just to be able to drive home!!!

Jaffacakes1234 · 31/12/2016 08:25

I think I was by far the most tired with my first pregnancy, I'd get back from work and just go to bed immediately, subsequent pregnancies have been far less debilitating.

Stalingrad · 31/12/2016 08:31

I fondly remember the many naps of my first pregnancy. Special times! I have been fired through the first trimester in all my pregnancies but since having kids I guess I'm more used to coping with tiredness. I have been doing early nights though, tonight I plan to go to a neighbour's party until 9pm then collapsing!

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 31/12/2016 09:45

Smell gone into overdrive this morning, and my all day nausea has returned. Ginger nuts to the rescue.

roobois · 31/12/2016 13:03

Think early nights are the best idea.
I've been keeping some ginger biscuits by my bed and eating one when I wake up in the morning which seems to help quite a lot with sickness. I can't believe how much changes so quickly. Just had my first 'I'm going to be a mum' moment and had to sit down. Which made me laugh.

Shwighty1 · 31/12/2016 15:00

roobois that's lovely!! I've had a disaster today our freezer has broken :( just had pizza and ice cream for lunch! Think we'll be going to the sales at some point next week!!

HellsBellsK · 31/12/2016 18:18

I am also waking up starving - I need to eat right away but after that I'm okay.
Just wishing time away here really - two weeks till first scan.
This afternoon I have been getting some mild shooting pains across my lower abdomen. Not painful but I notices them, only last a few seconds. Hoping this is normal.
Roobois its an odd feeling - still doesn't feel real to me.
Shwighty what a nightmare - hope you don't have to much waste!

Any plans for tonight?
We are just going out for dinner with my brother and SIL, they know so don't need to hide anything.

londonfeather · 31/12/2016 20:11

Hello,
Got a positive today for my 1st - Ovia predicting 7 September! Feel really excited but a bit nervous to be honest. It all happened a lot quicker than I expected!

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 01/01/2017 10:38

Congratulations London it's all so exciting.

HellsBellsK · 01/01/2017 12:07

Congratulations London great way to start 2017!

flossie80 · 01/01/2017 12:50

Hello! Congratulations London. I know what you mean - we were on first cycle trying for #1 and it has all happened so quickly. Got my BFP yesterday! Was really hard keeping from people last night! I'm now over analyzing every twinge and odd sensation!

charlij91 · 01/01/2017 16:50

Hi everyone! Very new to mumsnet so still trying to work out all abbreviations, oops! Currently around 5 weeks pregnant and due beginning of September 2017. First child and whole process is very new, exciting and scary to me and my other half!

Would love any advice from people due around the same time, or reassurance that the things I'm feeling are normal! Currently feeling very tired all the time and constant nausea too. Very low constant cramp in abdominal area but I'm assured thats normal while the embryo is implanting!

So excited for this journey but a little scared about what the next few weeks are going to bring until I hit second trimester!

So yeah, any help advice or words of wisdom will be much appreciated :) x

FXSkip · 01/01/2017 19:16

Hi charl welcome! I'm the same, I can't stop staring at my calendar or pregnancy apps (yes, plural) and willing myself to be suddenly 17weeks!! This is my first too, but I had a miscarriage in August 16 so I am very very cautious about this one.

Pumpkinhead16 · 01/01/2017 20:05

Hi guys hope you don't mind if I join you! Did my test last week - this will be my first! According to the date of my last period it gives me a due date of 5 September. I'm so nervous and excited and as it's my first, I have no idea what I should be doing or what I should expect.

I had a cold just before Xmas so I was feeling a bit off colour. I did a test on Xmas day which came back negative but I knew I was doing it a day early. I just wanted to be able to give my husband some good news on Xmas day! Blush Anyway, then Boxing Day was the day I was meant to come on. I went for a bike ride and didn't feel great, and felt very dizzy on the way back. Didn't think much more of it, just thought it was because of my cold. Then the day after I overslept and jumped out of bed thinking bugger I'm going to be late for work. And as I hadn't got my period the day before, I thought I'd quickly do a test. And I got a faint line and confirmation a few hours later using a clear blue digital Smile

Anyway sorry to ramble. So I haven't had many symptoms really. Especially not today. I've felt very tired (but not today), i occasionally get a funny taste in my mouth in the night, and I've had a few cramps. So I don't really feel pregnant. It sounds silly but I want morning sickness so that I know that I'm pregnant, even though the test has confirmed it. Does anyone else not feel pregnant? Xx

Ginger100 · 01/01/2017 20:34

Hi Everyone I hope its ok if I join you, I tested yesterday and got a positive with a due date of the 8th of September for baby number 2! I have a 19 month old boy at home and a bit concerned how we will cope with 2!
No nausea yet... really hoping its not as bad this time as with baby 1.

laurenmarie88 · 01/01/2017 20:41

Congrats I'm due around 24th august :) exciting times xx

snoodles · 01/01/2017 20:46

Hi everyone, new to this but have been lurking for a week or so since finding out I'm pregnant for the first time and frantically been looking at all the advice out there and what not to eat, how to sleep, and what to expect! Ive also downloaded many apps but will have to be careful no one at work sees these just yet!

I'm due around 3rd September, feeling very bloated and probably already look pregnant! Not had many symptoms yet, last week I felt very tired but better this week. Having trouble sleeping every night but hopefully that will improve. Started to take folic acid and doctor recommends vitamin D so will get that soon. I had some funny taste in my mouth yesterday, this comes and goes. Sometimes I can't differentiate between pregnancy symptoms and just normal!

Feels very surreal that we are expecting, I feel like I'm already walking differently and more cautious. Had some shooting pains at the top of my stomach two days ago but this didn't last long. Just waiting for my first scan date and then I think this will feel more real!

londonfeather · 01/01/2017 20:54

Hello everybody! Symptom wise I just feel really crampy in my tummy but not much else really. It doesn't loook particularly bloated. Dreading any sickness!

Pumpkinhead16 · 01/01/2017 21:00

I'm glad I'm not the only one with very few symptoms!

I'm normally such a worrier about the tiniest thing but am trying really hard to stay positive. I want this so so much x

guigirl14 · 01/01/2017 21:00

Hello everybody, hope you don't mind me joining in? It's so nice to find a thread where people are having similar feelings. Had a BFP just before Christmas after feeling utterly exhausted, so glad I figured that one out before starting on the wine (although I am missing it!!). If anyone needs no alcohol suggestions for dinner parties etc (including pretending you've got wine in your glass) I highly recommend the Tesco Chenin Blanc no alcohol fizz and the Belvoir No Hangover range.

Struggling with feeling permanently exhausted, sore boobs and randomly nauseous from 6pm every single night, but I can see I'm not the only one suffering on here! Weird to think you can feel so much so early on. No idea how to hide the tiredness at work, all suggestions welcome!

I was wondering if anyone was considering paying for an early scan? They seem expensive. I'm 5+5 at the moment, due end Aug/early Sept. This will be our first but only after a very early miscarriage in November, and I'm a little anxious to know what's going on. Feel lucky though that after self referring I've already got a scan booked at my preferred hospital (UCLH in London) for mid Feb.

Anyway wishing everyone the best of luck :)

laurenmarie88 · 01/01/2017 21:01

I have a 3 year old now and the nausea has kicked in already with me :( I'm not even that far gone haha
