Oh bless him mej glad you're feeling more positive. What a little 🌟 your boy is.

KitKat1985 · 24/01/2017 12:54

Oh I'm pleased it went okay Mejse. How long overall will he be in casts for?

Mejse · 24/01/2017 14:49

He has a new cast every week for 5 weeks. Then some children need a tenotomy where they cut the tendon under local anaesthetic and then another cast for 3 weeks. Others can just go right to the boots and bar, which hold their feet appart at a certain angle so that the foot will stay in the right position. Then it's 3 months of wearing them for 23hours a day, after which they wear them for naps and bedtime until they are 4-6 years old depending on how it goes.
So it's quite a long process but it's way less invasive than when they used to do lots of surgeries. He will crawl, walk and run at the same time as other children.

Bella1985 · 24/01/2017 16:47

Oh your little brave boy mejse - glad the first part of the process went well, it sounds like he will take it all in his stride. Star

Thisisbonkers · 24/01/2017 18:35

Isn't he brave? 💕

I hope your dog is ok, stubble, it's the real downside to having pets 😔

I drove today! It's great having my independence back 😃 Thinking of going to a local baby massage thing tomorrow, I think we're on top of the fleas but being at home just makes me feel itchy and dirty, and he'll like it I'm sure. Need to find out where we can go swimming now I've had the go ahead.

Londonmamabychance · 24/01/2017 23:42

Hope everyone coping okay! I think there are good things and bad things about both toddlers and babies. DD (2) is so much fun and it's amazing to watch her develop and communicate, but her tantrums and moods are less fun! The baby is so cute and cuddly and I love his first smiles and coos! But when he screams for hours on end he tires me out. Don't find the lack of sleep too bad but probably because I've always been a terrible sleeper and slept even worse in pregnancy than with a newborn! Was so stressed out then so am still just relieved to have a lovely healthy baby and not a bump and crazy anxiety levels like I did in pregnancy!

DH and me are arguing loads though Sad we are in a 1-bed and need to move out by May as landlord wants to sell, and it's too cramped anyway. But can't agree where to move - further out in London or to my native country Sweden. DH is worried about his job prospects there, but childcare is so much cheaper and so is rent, plus there is family around. Worried about how we'll afford living In London with two kids but both our jobs and industries mean are only here. Also Brexit worries me as a European citizen. (DH is a Norwegian citizen but originally from Russia so none of us are British citizens, the kids can be by now but haven't got myself together to apply, they want so much documentation). It's all so worrying and feel so depressed about our uncertain future. I suddenly feel that it was irresponsible to have another baby and all this uncertainty is casting a shadow on what should be a happy time. It's rubbish.

But everytime baby smiles everything else disappears and I'm
So happy! Smile totally on baby love.

Londonmamabychance · 24/01/2017 23:52

Oh and Mejse, glad to hear that it went well with the cast!
Bigfam have you tired putting a bit of Vaseline on a cotton bud and very gently inserting it a tiny bit in Romy's nose to moisture a bit?
Those of you who have trouble settling babies to sleep
During the day, what works for me is taking baby out for a little
Walk in the buggy, he then falls asleep and once we come home I just open up his snowsuit and take off all blankets and his hat so he doesn't overheat and leave him sleeping in the buggy. He can stay there for hours then!

StubbleTurnips · 25/01/2017 20:21

Mej the casts will be off before you know it, I hope you can get DS as comfy as possible with it.

London I'm envious of your baby napping in the buggy, no way DS is having that just yet. We seem to have limpet babies Grin. He is sleeping in his cot overnight though which is more than DD ever did so I'll take that.

I hear you with arguing. DH is back to work tomorrow after a month off and I have no idea who I'll squabble with then Smile

So Bea has a cold and it's keeping her up all night so I am really struggling with lack of sleep and looking after a toddler :-(

She will sleep in her buggy during the day when we are out and about which is good it's just at night she is so blocked up.

Me and DH argue abit over silly little things.

Bigfam · 26/01/2017 12:05

Dd3 has a bladder infection and has been prescribed trimethoprim, she's surprisingly well considering & it's her birthday Saturday! Have you got nasal saline spray love Romy literally can't breath without it! No I hadn't thought of that london but it sounds like a good idea, from what I gather her nose bleeds because it's irritated and dry, so vaseline would keep it moist wouldn't it?
Anyone have a summer baby, what's it like? All my children were born in winter so have always had to be bundled up in layers of clothes and they STILL get the snuffles...

KitKat1985 · 26/01/2017 15:53

Oh I hope your DD3 gets better soon Bigfam.

Lovewatching i'm seconding the saline spray - it's really helped DD2 with her snuffliness.

DH told me yesterday that's he's got to do an overnight trip with work next month. I'm a bit irrationally anxious about managing DD1 and DD2 on my own for 2 days, especially in the evenings. I usually rely on DH holding DD2 whilst I cook dinner / put DD1 to bed / wash up etc. I think I may just have to accept that DD2 will have to cry for a few minutes whilst I'm doing some things. It would help if she would settle in her Bjorn baby carrier but she seems to hate it. Hmm

Popskipiekin · 26/01/2017 15:55

bigfam your family seems to be hit by all the winter bugs! Unfair.

I'm not arguing with DH but that's because we aren't talking much full stop. Sleep in separate rooms (because he has a new job and I don't want him exhausted), then he has study in the evenings and I go up early anyway to get a headstart on sleep... MIL has offered to babysit for our anniversary in a couple of weeks - not sure we'll know what to say to each other! I guess we'll talk about the children

Stubble here's some solidarity Cake and Brew for getting through nights with sick toddlers and crying babies.

london that whole situation sounds so tough. Can't offer any advice but Flowers

Thisisbonkers · 26/01/2017 17:21

DP is starting with a cold, I want to banish him from baby duties so he doesn't catch it, but I don't want sole custody of baby 😃

He's still eating until he pukes (baby, not DP!), just so greedy. Case in point this morning, all over him, me and my bed whilst feeding. Argh! Got my own back this afternoon though by squirting him in the face with milk 😳 Clearly not issue with supply and when he trigger the let down and then unleashed it was like a water cannon!

Thisisbonkers · 26/01/2017 17:21

*unlatched!

TinyTickler · 27/01/2017 17:47

Love is your baby a Beatrice too?

Babydreaming · 27/01/2017 18:09

Bigfam how did you know your baby had a urine infection? Mine has a problem with his kidneys and we've been told he's prone to urinary infections and we should look out for them...I'm just never sure how I would know if he had one! He's been on Trimethoprim since birth to prevent them.

Bigfam · 27/01/2017 18:57

She's 2 (tomorrow!) babydreaming but still in nappies so I suppose it's the same, she never complained of pain when weeing (not sure if it's because she didn't know how to explain it) but I noticed her wee smelt really strong, it was like bleach, she also had chills and kept saying she was cold and generally miserable, also she complained a couple of times her back hurts & would hold where her kidneys are. We're waiting for a hospital apt so they can do an ultrasound on her kidneys.

As your ds is so young, I'd initially look out for smelly pee and probably a temp.

Thisisbonkers · 29/01/2017 20:52

Is there anyone still here that's in the fb group? I'm thinking maybe it's time to join!

BabyBonkers has been really wailing today 😔 And yesterday. Yet he was a delight first thing? Poo is more pesto than mustard too. One for the health visitor tomorrow perhaps.

DartmoorDoughnut · 29/01/2017 20:58

How's your dog stubble? Hope Rainbow Bridge is a way away Flowers

Another who bloody loves toddlers, so much more fun! Am a shit parent at the moment, far too much tv going on!

Lovewatchingrainfall · 29/01/2017 21:33

Tiny ticker yes she is. I fell in love with the name. And there is not that many of them.

Still fully of cold here but the baby saline seems to be helping.

Hope everyone is okay

TinyTickler · 30/01/2017 01:39

Love excellent band choice!

Popskipiekin · 30/01/2017 01:55

Anyone here struggle with the last feed before bedtime? I know evening fussiness isan issue with many babies but it's driving me up the wall! Trying to get enough food into DS2 so he will sleep a decent chunk but the past week or so he's been thrashing around, just chewing and not actually eating, and so he wakes up much sooner than he used to. Boring! I sit there for up to 2 hours trying to coax milk into him. Tried a bottle but he toys with that too. Grrrump. Hoping it's a phase just like everything else.

Re too much telly, Dartmoor, I've taken to picking up DS1 from nursery and then going home for a half hour of CBeebies for him and sofa slump/feed for me and DS2. I picked him up on Friday and he embarrassed me by exclaiming "watch the telly!" when he saw me Blush

NurseRosie · 30/01/2017 02:31

Just place marking as lost the thread before x

Babydreaming · 30/01/2017 16:59

Popsiekin we definitely have the evening fussing! He tends to wake around 6pm and feeds til about 10/11pm with a catnap in the middle at some point. He takes so much milk but then gets really uncomfortable and cries! He then works himself into a bit of a state and gets overtired and won't fall asleep! We have about an hours screaming match every single night, it's exhausting!

Babydreaming · 30/01/2017 17:01

I think ours is due to reflux though. He arches his back and we can see milk coming back up his mouth, occasionally he will projectile vomit. He looks really uncomfortable after big feeds. We've been given gaviscon from GP but it's not reallly helped!
