Congrats on all the arrivals! Amazing! The year is nearly over and soon all our babies will be here!

My baby is struggling with wind and stomach issues I think, he is spotting up/puking quote a lot! Just explosively puked all over me and kitchen floor. Makes him quite unsettled, poor thing. Would say he's in my bed around 50 oct if the time, have the cot bed and Moses basket right next to my be done but he just wants to be next to me...so give in a lot of the time.

Insertwitticismhere · 29/12/2016 22:25

Hi all. Congratulations on all the new arrivals. Just seen KitKats updated list post and realised that I posted on the FB group but not here. I had a (not so little) girl on December 13th weighing in at an unexpected 11lb 7oz. Water birth with just gas & air. We were home next day and all doing well.

TinyTickler · 29/12/2016 23:12

Stripey I also convinced myself my contractions which started at 6am weren't real due to not having had a show, not being that regular etc. They randomly changed to every 4 minutes around 6pm (but only lasting around 40 seconds and I had a show followed by Blood loss very soon thereafter which terrified the crap out of me.

Hospital discouraged me from
Going in as my contractions werent long enough, but had some blood loss we went straight in and I was 7cm dilated. My waters didn't break until about 20 mins before she was born.

Trust yourself, if you think they're contractions they probably are - textbook symptoms are irrelevant!

stripeyorangesocks71 · 29/12/2016 23:13

Congratulations everyone!

Finally good news from the stripey team.

Baby stripey (team blue) was born today at 4:43pm weighing 8 pounds 12 ounces. Went from 4cm dilation to fully in not much time at all apparently. They broke my waters, I walked down a corridor and we got to the bed and I wanted to push so that's what we did... just gas and air. Considering how overdue he was, he didn't hang around when labour started!

Bumbleclat · 29/12/2016 23:43

Congratulations everyone I feel like I'm the last one! 72 hours of contractions with a few hour random gap this morning lots of 'show' and pressure/pain with each contraction but no actual baby :(
Loooong latent phase but managing to stay chilled very painful contractions but midwife said baby all fine, attempted to check how dialated/effaced I was at 2am this morning and it was so painful I made her stop.
Will get them back here when I'm in so called 'established' labour... Tiring!

Thisisbonkers · 30/12/2016 08:55

Oh bumble that sounds very much like my labour 🙁

Lots of new arrivals! Congratulations everyone! Big babies too!

We're doing much better now we're home and tongue tie fixed.

OrianaBanana · 30/12/2016 10:46

C was born within 10 minutes of my waters going, with a 10 minute second stage! She didn't hang about (apart from in the latent phase..). Just as well, the ring of fire and the overwhelming desire/need to push... never felt anything like it! Shock

Bigfam · 30/12/2016 11:41

Congratulations everyone.

Bloody he'll insertwit that made my eyes water just reading it! Well done you.
I may have said this before, but I do love and good old puff on the gas and air Grin

Oh bumble that sounds awful! I hope things have picked up by now and you at least have a shorter stage ahead of you.
Glad Babybonkers tongue snip has helped!

Lovewatchingrainfall · 30/12/2016 12:44

So I have gone out for the day shopping, however at home I have been expressing every 3hours I have now been out for the last 5 hours and my boobs are so sore. Don't have my pump with me and don't think it would be acceptable to pump in public anyway. Is there anything I can do or should I just give up the expressing totally??

NurseRosie · 30/12/2016 15:44

Rainfall you could try hand expressing if you can, just for comfort. I did this when really full and out the other day, just into loo roll in the loo but was desperate.

I've been to a funeral this morning. Left lo with Mum for the first time and he was so good. Got back and fed him but still not comfy. Expressed a combined 8oz. Feel much better.

We had an issue with wind last night, just wouldn't settle. Any advice on how to relieve it? Worried about lo not having his bowels opened every day, sometimes it's 2 or 3 days, is this normal. Can't you tell I'm a panicky first time mum by this post?

Lovewatchingrainfall · 30/12/2016 16:20

Ahh nurse I didn't think about that maybe that's what I should have done.

If it helps I was told BF babies can go up to a 5 days without pooing as the body absorbs all the nutrients it needs and only poos out what it doesn't need. Having a toddler who only goes once every two weeks I would only really worry if your LO has not gone in over a week or looks like they are struggling to go.
Regarding wind and unsettling maybe raise one end of the cot so baby is not laying completely flat.

NurseRosie · 30/12/2016 17:41

Oh that's a relief about the poos.
I'll give raising the cot a go, thanks x

StubbleTurnips · 30/12/2016 17:55

Nurse trump wind or burp wind?

If it's trump leg cycling works well, so does baby massage on their tummies. You go in the shape of a number 7 from their belly button across and down. That helped DD.

Burp wind it was always the rub n' pat technique!

DD also struggled with bowel movements, every 4-5 days. It only improved when she weaned!

DartmoorDoughnut · 30/12/2016 18:35

I wish he'd go a few days without pooing, he's a pooing machine and gets one or both of us mid nappy change at least once a day Grin

CMF1812 · 30/12/2016 20:00

Rainfall I pumped for 6 months with DS1 - it was tough work especially when out and about. I used to take my double pump everywhere possible but on shorter trips I took my hand pump/ hand expressed for some relief! It feels odd to do it the first few times when out but after a while it gets a bit more normal!

Popskipiekin · 30/12/2016 21:28

Congratulations to all new arrivals!! bumble really hoping things have progressed by now and you'll update us with news of a gorgeous little person soon.

Massively disgruntled with a midwife for scaring me last week with DS's weigh-ins. Day 5 he was apparently 12% under birth weight so she was threatening all sorts if no improvement asap. Day 7 he was back to birth weight having miraculously put on 400g in 2 days!! Different midwife who signed us off on day 10 said well obviously the first weigh-in must have been wrong Confused Of course I'm happy that we're on the right track but I was so upset at the "weight loss" and implication I was failing at bf etc. when clearly nothing wrong at all. Ah well.

StubbleTurnips · 31/12/2016 02:56

Post birth injury type post here so don't read if you're concerned.....

Has anyone got a labial graze? I'm in agony with mine, can't really walk properly or move about. Sat here crying trying not to wake the baby!! Paracetamol isn't touching the pain, anyone any suggestions???

OP posts:
Bumbleclat · 31/12/2016 03:07

wow what a slog baby bumble born today at 4:01 weighing 8lb.5oz thanks for This thread it's been amazing!
She is absolutely gorgeous and healthy, they want to keep her in hospita for 12 hours because of meconiUm.

stubble yes :( I had stitches as well and have woken up scared to go to the toilet and barely able to get up :( no advice but I feel your pain.

StubbleTurnips · 31/12/2016 03:19

Congrats bumble!

It's awful isn't it? I had an epistisiotomny (?sic) with DD and no pain. A 'graze' this time with DS and I'm walking like john Wayne sobbing on the toilet Sad

OP posts:
Popskipiekin · 31/12/2016 03:33

bumble congrats, what a slog! Hope you get out soon.

stubble I had what the midwives called "lacerations" - baby's hand was up by his head when he came out. Also really bad hard piles. The whole area was a nightmare no-go! I kept up the painkillers, paracetamol and ibruprofen. I know a small amount does get through to breastmilk but nhs website is fine with ibruprofen whilst bf and I was given it in hospital. I also bought a blow-up ring cushion to sit on, huge improvement! Now two weeks postpartum and area feels much better. Hope yours will too.

TinyTickler · 31/12/2016 03:40

Stitches but no grazing for me. My midwife suggested holding a sanitary pad against the stitches when going for a number 2 which definitely makes it feel less like your about to tear everything in 2!

cnchapmanxx · 31/12/2016 03:54

Hi all hope everyone is doing good and LO are settling into new environment 😁
Evelyn is now a week old crazy and she's currently just sucking away on magic juice! Had a bit of a difficult few days with latching on, lots of tears from me and her - every position we put her in she wouldn't latch or if she did she would only do it for 2 mins so got referred to hospital for posterior tongue tie as she defo has got the anterior one. Got that appointment on Wednesday so I'd been pumping my milk into bottles and giving it her that way but yesterday and every other feed since then she's latched on perfectly so hoping she's just clicked she has gold on tap but will still go to hospital.

Right she's gone back to sleep now after a change so off to snooze for me!!. Xx

Bigfam · 31/12/2016 06:56

Congratulations bumble that was a marathon wasn't it?! Can you get codeine otc? If not maybe try and get to the gp, also if it hurts when you wee, use a warm flannel or slowly tip warm water over that area whilst peeing, hopefully it might give you some relief.

We're accidentally co-sleeping (also with Dd3 in the bed) baby's only waking one at 2am(ish) instead of between 2&3 times. I need all the sleep I can get with 4 older monsters running around.

I hope bf'ing continues to improve cn especially after when the tongue tie is addressed

SolomanDaisy · 31/12/2016 07:09

I had really swollen labia after DS and used a feme pad. I still remember the enormous relief when I put it on.

NurseRosie · 31/12/2016 08:58

Stubble, lo doesn't burp a lot at all, but he does spit up. He tends to spit up instead of burp when I wind him.
It's trapped trump wind I think. Your massage strokes are different do I'll try them.

Pops, that's really bad. They should be sure before scaring mums with big weight losses. It's only natural to feel anxious. Glad things are back on track though.

Turnips did the hospital give you any oil for down below? I had a graze and stitches. I was recommended to lay and not sit as much as possible as to not put pressure on that area. Even fed baby laying on my side. I know this isn't easy with a life to live but does help. Also the pad thing when going to the loo is helpful.

Hope you get sorted cn and lthe feeding continues to go well.

Congrats Bumble more great news x
