Hi guys, haven't been on for a while as seem to be very busy and also very tired!!
36 weeks tomorrow

and really feeling very pregnant now! Mainly struggling with ridiculously swollen hands, fingers and feet (and carpal tunnel in my right hand), calf cramps, sore pelvis and hips, sore ribs and an inability to get comfortable either sitting at my desk or lying in bed at night! I really can't complain too much though as haven't had it too bad at all really compared to most people! I really think staying active as much as I can has helped me incase that's helpful for those coming behind me! I'm still walking lots (albeit I've slowed down quite a bit!), and doing swimming, pregnancy yoga and pregnancy pilates every week.
I had a day off yesterday (which was lovely with it being such a gorgeous day!) and met up with some of the girls from my NCT class - including two of the very new, very tiny, very adorable babies!!
(still doesn't feel real though!) was so weird looking at the babies and thinking that was your bump last week?!!
I need to have a proper catch up but wanted to say good luck to those with 20 week scans coming up!
Seahawk we did the Red cross first aid course for babies (actually came across the details on the NCT page) a couple of week ago and found it really useful and reassuring. Definitely a good thing to do!
Music Yes I would recommend hypnobirthing, obviously I can't say yet how it will work for me in labour but it has helped me feel fairly calm, positive and actually quite excited about the prospect of giving birth (although of course still apprehensive too!) A few years ago I'd have said give me all the drugs and wondered why people didn't have epidurals but not I feel confident and hopeful about (hopefully!) having a calm, empowering, natural birth with hopefully just using breathing/hypnobirthing skills/gas&air if I need it. Obviously everyone is different but it's made a lot of sense to me reading all about how women's bodies are designed to give birth naturally, how we are essentially mammals etc and that it's only in more recent times that labour and birth have become so medicalised and couched in such negative painful terms on TV etc which isn't helpful. Essentially fear of birth is thought to increase the pain, so the less scared you can feel about it all, theoretically the more manageable it will be. At least that's what I'm hoping!
. Sorry that turned into a really long winded response! I haven't done a course or anything I've just used the Maggie Howell Natal Hypnotherapy book and Maggie Howell Birth Preparation CD.
Any news on the job 5 mins from home for your DH Kav? FX!
