Hello!!

This is a new wave of grads for those from #TTC1 - Those on the first grade thread are dealing with poonamis and crying babies, while we are still waving our FRER's and wondering if that line is really a figment of our imagination!

Feel free to join in, if you too are embarking on this crazy journey to parenthood!!

Major surgery!!! Not mahout!!! Don't want to have an elephant handler operating on you 😂

Musicgrrl · 25/02/2017 10:30

Thanks seahawk - I have prepared him for the eventuality that I might need extra reassurance before 20 weeks but fx my midwife appointment helps in that department! I am currently worried though because I can still do up my pre pregnancy jeans which I am assuming means that baby is still quite low which might make it difficult to find heartbeat. Either that or I am massively over thinking this! Ha. Have a great time in Mauritius! How long are you away for?

Seahawk80 · 25/02/2017 12:19

Thanks music we're away for 2 weeks, so excited! Just at the airport now. We normally get to use the lounge as a work perk, DH is working his way through the champagne and I'm sulking after finishing my one small glass! I wasn't much bigger until 20 weeks so don't panic. Feel like I get bigger every day now!!

Dixiechick1991 · 26/02/2017 08:12

Morning everyone!
I'm only 13 weeks but already MIL is asking when I'll have a bump (I know she's just excited but jeeZ if you saw me 2 days ago and then now there won't be much difference!)
Anyway I've found now that I have a belly but I'm sure it's just bloat because I can breathe it in then I'm only left with a little round bit.
Question is, when did everyone's belly start to pop out and be rounded in their first pregnancy?

MrsG280516 · 26/02/2017 20:45

We had our little gender reveal party today and it was so fun! We had a 50/50 boy/girl split so it was really nice to surprise some people!

Music the midwife listened to the heartbeat at my 16 week appointment last week, I knew that she is always really low though so told the midwife that and she found it straight away. Other than that it was a pretty useless appointment tbh!

Seahawk80 · 27/02/2017 03:27

dixie I only feel like I look obviously pregnant now at 22'weeks, feel like I got huge overnight!

Musicgrrl · 27/02/2017 11:46

mrs looks like you had a great time! Sounds like lots of fun.

Had my midwife appointment today. She did listen for the heartbeat which was great as she found it straight away. She didn't measure it though which I thought she might have and now that I'm out I wish I had recorded it to play to DH! Ah well. Still exciting! Other than that I agree it was pretty much a waste of time. I wonder if they do it just to stop people dreaming out too much between 12 and 20 weeks?!

Musicgrrl · 27/02/2017 15:27

Can someone give me the under the bump/over the bump jean low down please? Preferences? Pros and cons? I'm imagining that I won't be wearing them in the later months of pregnancy as it will be summer but I am off on a Nordic holiday in a few weeks which I am expecting to be cold and I basically live in jeans when not at work.

MrsG280516 · 27/02/2017 15:38

I find the over the bump jeans much better because they don't fall down as much, but it might be because the under-bump ones I have are a little too big (even though they're my usual size). They'd be good for cold weather as they would keep your bump nice and warm! Maybe get one type of each and see which you prefer?

If you're buying from Asos I'd recommend to go a size down, that's where my under-bump jeggings are from. My over-bump ones are from New Look and are "proper" jeans in thicker material. I'm thinking that the under-bump ones might feel better in the summer when I need something a bit lighter.

marmitecheesetoast · 27/02/2017 17:04

Just bobbing on quickly to say I'd say over the bump all the way - my under bump ones still fall down at 33 and a half weeks and drive me insane!!! New Look ones have been best for me, Dorothy Perkins good too.

WantingBaby1 · 27/02/2017 17:24

Overbump are lovely and comfortable and keep bump snug. My dorothy perkins one stay up perfectly and are really comfortable.

Poppet8583 · 27/02/2017 18:39

Looks like you had a lovely party MrsG!

LovelyFishy · 28/02/2017 10:50

I have over bump too, from H&M. Most expensive maternity clothing I bought but worth it for decent jeans!

Hello to any newcomers, congratulations on scans and gender announcements! Grin

Just been away on a weeks holiday, probably last holiday without a baby which is a bit of a thought! Officially in the 3rd trimester now no matter which book/app you look at. Oh my!

marmitecheesetoast · 28/02/2017 12:19

Welcome to the third trimester fishy!! I'm afraid time seems to speed up even more in this trimester Confused hope you had a good holiday!

We had our last NCT class last nigjt, feels very strange to have finished that, especially as we were all saying our goodbyes at the end saying the next time we will all see each other we will all have babies! Shock

kavanaughkj · 28/02/2017 14:16

Heya ladies, wanted to check in and say hi - got about 3 weeks more of hell (work) hopefully before I can have a week of holiday and might be able to post here more. Very envious of Mauritius trip Seahawk - enjoy!

I can't believe people are hitting 3rd trimesters - marmite and Fishy, I remember you getting your BFPs! Where has the time gone?!

Looks like you had a lovely party MrsG. :) have we had any Team Blues announced yet? I think it's all Vanilla or Pink so far, right?

I can't deal with over-bump yet. It makes my indigestion way worse so I have to have long tops and everything rolled under the bump. I got a pair of leggings from Jojo Maman Bebe that took about 3 weeks of wearing before I got a massive hole in the crotch, so those are going back to the shop!! Their jeans are great quality but I wasn't expecting that.

Struggling with work here still (it is relentless and properly bloody hard) and DH hasn't yet found a job. Last time he was out of work it was for 5 months and it hit our savings hard, which haven't yet really had time to recover, particularly not since his spending spree. I'm praying so hard that this isn't a repeat of that as I honestly don't know how we will manage; I don't want to go into debt but cashflow will start to be an issue if he doesn't get a job in the next few weeks. It doesn't help that I think he's suffering mild depression and is probably sleeping/mucking around on his computer a lot of the day when I'm at work - there are jobs out there but at a fraction of the amount he's used to earning and I can understand why he wouldn't want to accept them, but it may end up coming to a point where he has little other choice. When we met he was earning twice what I was. His last job was at the same salary as me (just permanent, not contracting). Now he's finding he's being offered positions at half MY salary. :( I just feel powerless - I ask him about his day, what interviews he's had, what's in the pipeline, I've sent him links to recruitment sites ... nothing is giving at the moment and I'm as worried as I've ever been with the baby on the way. :( We need savings badly before I go on maternity leave - I know that won't be for a while yet but it'll rush up faster than either of us realises.

And to add to this bright little sunny message of joy, I found out today a friend who was 12 weeks pg has just had a m/c.

Pass me the chocolate?

kavanaughkj · 28/02/2017 14:56

Sorry. Just realised what an almighty dump of doom and gloom that last post was! I'll manage, just have to get through the next month without going a bit bonkers! Blush

Poppet8583 · 28/02/2017 16:47

So sorry you're going through a hard time *Kav, I hope your DH finds a new job soon. I can imagine how stressful it is for you. It's so hard when you're in a relentless job - if it makes you feel any better I feel the same about mine at times but I keep focussing on the fact that I won't be there forever and I'm doing this for much more important reasons now (easier said than done sometimes, though!)

It must be hard for your DH to accept that he might need to take a lower paid job but you're right, it's better than nothing at all and it'll take some of the pressure off. It also won't stop him looking for something better and if a job comes up with a higher salary, he can still go for it.

Sorry to hear about your friend, that's really sad. I hope she's doing as well as can be expected.

Mooseville · 28/02/2017 18:51

Hi all,

Sorry for not posting much. Got so much to do with the house, and when I get in from work I'm just shattered!

Feeling lots of movemebt but baby is an awkward bugger and every time DP puts his hand on my tummy to feel it, it stops!!! Ha ha He's getting well frustrated! He has seen some little twitches though...

Over the bump all the way here! But I had a big tummy anyway, so they fit from the word go! I got mine from Mothercare as they had 33" leg and they've been great! So comfy!

Seem to be putting on weight at a considerable rate - up 1 stone 9pounds! Aargh.... but I'm also eating like a horse, tons of chocolate too! Confused That needs to stop!

I won tickets to the Baby Show at the excel with gro company, so hoping to go there on Friday and finally pick a pram! Was stuck on the Stokke Crusi but sense is finally winning - the icandy peach is now a possible... but still need to have a good look at the others available!

Marmite I just had my first NCT meeting tonight, I really enjoyed it!

Kav sorry to hear about no job yet and the really sad news about your friend. Same time I found out I was pregnant a friend had bad news at their 12 week scan. Sad Hopefully a job will turn up soon that you're DH can accept.

Moose I'm the same after work, I'm so tired I don't read or anything, just zonked!

marmitecheesetoast · 01/03/2017 09:41

So sorry you're having a difficult time Kav it's totally understandable you're feeling the way you are. Fingers crossed something comes up for your DH really soon. Sounds like maybe it would be good if you could manage a day out the house at the weekend where you can both have a really good chat about how you're feeling? I find that helps clear the air sometimes and my DH finds communication really hard in the house but tends to open up a bit more if we're for example out on a walk - maybe cos he doesn't realise we're 'talking' ha ha.

I have no idea where the time has gone Kav either - once you get past the 12 week scan the time just seems to fly! Can't believe I'll be 34 weeks on Friday Shock

Awh that sounds familiar moose have you tried spooning with your OH in bed? He might then feel any kicks in his back - that's how my DH caught a lot of earlier kicks rather than trying to have his hand in the right place at the right time. Now my whole bump undulates constantly and even colleagues at work just stare at it, it's like alien!! You must be shattered with the house stuff, hope you're managing to get some good rest here and there and that it's beginning to take shape?
You should check out the uppababy vista if your looking at prams at the baby show - we loved the icandy peach but the uppababy then blew it out the water for us (and was a bit cheaper!)

Glad you enjoyed your first NCT fishy it's a bit like first day at school isn't it - wanting to like everyone and everyone to like you!! It took a few sessions but we're all quite friendly already now - we have a whatsapp group for all the mums to be to chat on which we use lots already and we even all managed a meet up for lunch at the weekend before all the babies arrive! I think it will be an invaluable ready made social group - which I guess is why most people do it!

Mooseville · 01/03/2017 10:31

The Uppababy is also on our list marmite I'm hoping it's at the show as haven't managed to see one in the flesh yet at the other shops. DP's parents are buying it for us and have told us to splash out, so luckily price isn't a concern! Grin

I can't get anywhere near DP in bed. My pregnancy pillow takes up most of the room! He's perched on the edge! I might allow him a quick cuddle one night I suppose! Wink

Also pleased you enjoyed the NCT fishy Ours is in a few weeks, unfortunately had to do the weekend one as that was the only one we could fit in!

Also agree with everyone who says how quick time goes after 25 weeks or so - the first few weeks took forever and now it's passing by ridiculously quickly!

Mooseville · 01/03/2017 10:31

I meant after 15 weeks or so!

Seahawk80 · 02/03/2017 07:31

Has anyone else considered a bugaboo bee? Every time I google best London buggy or ask friends for reccomendations it comes up but I never hear of people on here buying one. Is it just the price that puts people off? We've been really lucky with being given almost everything we need so we have enough spare cash to consider it but I worry that there's a reason not many people get it!

In other news I feel like I suddenly look really pregnant. I don't know if it's just co incidence or if it's relaxing on holiday and wearing summer clothes!

Musicgrrl · 02/03/2017 08:37

Thanks ladies! It sounds like over bump wins on popularity! I'm planning my first splurge into maternity wear and so think I'll do a new look or Asos order. Priorities for me are jeans, long strappy tops, maternity tights and leggings!

It's so exciting that some of you ladies are getting so close to your due dates now! How are you feeling about the birth?! Have you given it much thought?

kav I'm so sorry to hear that work is so busy and DH hasn't found anything yet. I can imagine how hard it must be for him to accept a big decrease in pay. How does he feel about being out of work? Could you try to encourage him to see a lower paying job as a place to be temporarily while he looks for something that he prefers? It does suck about the job market though! What area of work is he in if you don't mind me asking? Btw I totally see all that as a free pass to chocolate (not that I seem to need an excuse to gobble it all day...)

I have heard so many good things about the Uppababy Vista so I was pretty upset to realise that with our very narrow Victorian doors it wouldn't actually fit into our house! Think we'll be looking for something a bit slimmer...

moose that's exciting about the Baby Show - you'll have to feed back to us!

marmite and fishy glad NCT is going well for you guys! It must be so reassuring to get a self-made, local support group for when baby arrives!

We do seem to have a balance towards team pink on this thread don't we! I think we'll be finding out at the end of March so maybe we'll be team blue to redress the balance!

seahawk hope you're having a lovely time! I guess it's easier to see baby bump in summer clothes than in thick winter blazers and coats?! I have heard friends recommend the Bugaboo Bee Smile

When I saw the midwife on Monday (16 weeks) she said I'd probably start to feel movement soon. Wish she hadn't said that as, having read around, I had convinced myself that it wouldn't be until around 20 weeks but now I'm just waiting impatiently! When did you guys start to feel something and those of you at 17 weeks - are you feeling anything yet?

kavanaughkj · 02/03/2017 11:37

Music, DH does something in IT - don't ask me for details as I really don't understand it!

You're all so lovely here ... thanks for the support after my almighty great vent! Feeling a bit more positive today - DH has an interview Tuesday and is busy applying for lots of jobs, and I'm going out to an exercise class tonight for the first time in ages. Helps that it's a lovely sunny day and I'm working from home - and I had my '16 week' midwife appointment today (at 17+4) and she found a nice clear heartbeat straight away.

I'm in the same place you are Music about movement. Haven't felt a thing yet and am expecting not to for another two weeks - am just v. impatient at this point!

My sister in law recommended the Bugaboo Bee Seahawk - I've heard it's the make all the glitterati use. They aren't cheap but they're supposed to be excellent - I was just seduced by the fantastic prints that Cosatto offer. We went for the Ooba in the Foxtale print which is too cute to be true - I just wanted something that wasn't plain old boring black!

I've signed up to an NCT class but it doesn't start until June. Looking forward to it though.

Moose, my DH bought me a pregnancy pillow and I think is regretting it now, though my back is holding up really well thanks to it :) - he can't get anywhere near me in bed any more but I love it - it's like sleeping in a cuddle!
