Mooseville · 05/12/2016 18:41

Hello!!

This is a new wave of grads for those from #TTC1 - Those on the first grade thread are dealing with poonamis and crying babies, while we are still waving our FRER's and wondering if that line is really a figment of our imagination!

Feel free to join in, if you too are embarking on this crazy journey to parenthood!!

With me having an anterior placenta I'm not expecting to feel anything for a while yet, probably past 20 weeks. I'll be pleasantly surprised if I get any movement before then!

All this talk of pushchairs is exciting, we are hoping to order ours this weekend. We have pretty much decided on the M&P's Ocarro which is just an updated version of their Armadillo Flip. We're going for the full travel system with ISOFIX for our cars. Also hoping to order the nursery furniture we want as its in the sale on Mothercare until 15th March!

kavanaughkj · 03/03/2017 16:23

I have no clue where my placenta is. At my last scan I think it was only just about to take over and they never mentioned it, and at the midwife appointment she just listened to the heartbeat and told me everything's looking pretty much as it should. Mum reckons she felt me (I'm the eldest of my siblings) at about 20 weeks, so I probably shouldn't get too impatient, but at 17+5 hearing stories from all these second time and beyond mums about feeling their babies move from 13+ weeks I'm a bit envious!

Anybody else find by this stage of their pregnancy that room in both your bladder and your tummy is starting to be a bit squashed up? I'm definitely needing to pee more often these days, and while I'm still often hungry I can't eat as much as I used to without getting full. Not necessarily a bad thing I guess.

Went to Body Balance classes tonight for the first time in months. I used to go to that and Body Combat religiously several times a week - I have lost SO much condition!! It's so weird though how the bump (even though it's still relatively small) really gets in the way trying to do exercises I've done a million times before. The teacher had to give me a bunch of alternative moves for pregnant ladies. :) I'm aching a bit across my midriff today but really glad I went. Been thinking about hitting the swimming pool too but I don't think I'd fit in any of my swimming cossies any more!

Other than that I'm signed up on a waiting list for pregnancy yoga classes but they're full at the mo. What are other people doing? I've only really been walking the last few months (and recently not even that with DH out of work, he's been picking me up and dropping me off in the mornings!).

Musicgrrl · 03/03/2017 16:46

kav I don't know where my placenta is either but I think they'd have mentioned it at out scans if it was anterior. Although I guess they can move! I am not going to worry too much about movement until after 20 week scan also.

I have made enquiries of pregnancy yoga too but haven't actually managed to get there for a trial session yet. Other than that I have just been walking and occasionally (regularly it seems!) running for trains! My DH doesn't like it when I tell him that I ran to catch the train. I can sort of see why because it would be bad if I tripped but I still have the logistics of a London commute to manage Confused

Mooseville · 03/03/2017 20:12

They didn't mention my anterior placenta until my 20 week scan girls. I didn't feel anything that I know for sure was movement until I was 21 weeks!

Been to the Baby Show today and bought a pram. Absolutely loved the Stokke Trailz but went for the more practical icandy peach. Also bought a Snuzpod and a bababing changing bag. Feel a bit relieved we've finally made some decisions and purchases!

Musicgrrl · 03/03/2017 20:26

Ooh interesting moose - thanks for the info! I think it will be a long wait as I'm not even 17 weeks yet! Have a holiday at 19 weeks though so the last bit should be less waiting and more enjoying Smile

Yay that you've made some big purchases! Very exciting. I think we'll be like you at back loading our baby related buying.

Starmist · 04/03/2017 09:09

Hi ladies. I've had a crap week. My job is being made redundant. There is an alternative which is a newly created job that's a grade higher but to get it I have to pass a pretty intense assessment. If I fail the assessment I will be made redundant. Really don't need this stress right now. I'm trying to keep calm for baby's sake but it's hard not to let it get to me Sad

FXSkip · 04/03/2017 11:48

Oh starmist that's really bad timing isn't it (not that there's ever a good time). All you can do is your best at the assessment and then trust that you'll work it out. Try to keep a posting attitude, but know that stress won't harm your baby short term.
I'm also having a shitty week, supposed to be going on a last-hurrah holiday-of-a-lifetime on Friday but MIL has now been diagnosed with secondary cancer on top of her terminal illness. She's back in hospital and I know that worrying won't help, but I feel overwhelmed with sadness at a time when I'm supposed to be happily sharing our news. Hope everyone else is enjoying their weekend!

kavanaughkj · 04/03/2017 21:25

I've been playing hookey relaxing when I should really be catching up on my work. Just want one day to myself!!

Sorry to hear your news Starmist and Skip :( I'm sorry both of you are having to go through stress and heartache at this point of your lives.

Where are you going Skip?

AudreyBradshaw · 05/03/2017 03:22

Hi everyone! Starky here! How is everybody?! Was just popping by to see how you're all getting on! We moved over to Facebook from our thread so don't keep up so much on here these days but was wondering how you were!

DS is nearly 14 weeks (time flies!) And is currently spark out while I'm wide awake after his 2 am snack time! Xx

FXSkip · 05/03/2017 06:40

Hey starky!!! Congrats on your baby cub Grin I'm 14 weeks just gone so strange to think I was conceiving when you were giving birth - I joined the thread just after you! Xx

Thanks kav I'm away to India on Friday

marmitecheesetoast · 05/03/2017 08:15

Exciting about your baby show purchases moose! Does it make it feel more real? I have a bababing changing bag too! We're got free tickets to baby show next weekend. Think we'll pop along and see about picking up some of the last few bits maybe if there are good deals to be had. Was thinking about getting a travel crib as we have a few weekends away soon after the birth. Also want to look at slings and nursing chairs!

Those waiting to feel movement - no one mentioned my anterior placenta til 20 week scan either. You'll feel like you're waiting to feel movement for ages then suddenly you're being kicked all the time!

skip and star sorry to hear both your news, sounds tough Flowers

Glad to hear you're feeling a bit more positive about things Kav sunshine makes such a difference to how I feel - so uplifting. Fingers crossed for the job applications.

Hey stardrey!! Great to hear from you. Can't believe L is 14 weeks now!! Shock that has gone so fast! I hope all the other mamas and babies from the thread are doing well. I felt like it would be a bit weird for me to migrate over to Facebook with you all as I didnt yet have a baby! 34 and a half weeks now though eeek!

Hope everyone else has had a good weekend. I have found London pretty knackering being this size but it has been nice to get away from all the diy!!

AudreyBradshaw · 05/03/2017 08:59

Are you going to the Manchester show marmite ? I'm going with my Mam on the Friday. I was 35 weeks pregnant when we went to the last one and I can fully recommend getting a poddle pod (large size) if they've got the offer on. Come on over to fb whenever you're ready, just pm me and I can send you the link. I've been wondering how you've got on. Same for @sodasoda hope she's ok. Same for everyone and Instagram if you're a user, pm me your IG name, loads of the TTC thread girls are on there too and I found it useful to see what stuff they were buying and using.

So made up for you skip ☺ it's flown by honestly, I can't quite believe it myself. Feels like I'll blink and he'll be one! You will absolutely love it when your baba's are here, it's the best feeling in the world waking up to them. Bloody terrifying the first few weeks though!

Seahawk80 · 05/03/2017 15:18

kav I've been doing yoga and it's great. I also swim twice a week before work and I absolutely love it. I'm terrible at getting up early but I do it as I know it will be worth it. I can still just about squeeze into my costume but for holiday I got a tankini from
Topshop maternity which is brilliant.

music be careful running for trains, I have a nasty scar on my forehead from trippping on the steps at Earl's Court running for the circle line!

Sorry to hear you've had bad news star and skip Flowers

Mooseville · 05/03/2017 15:51

star and skip Hope you're both doing ok. I read an article in the Telegraph that said that stress during pregnancy helped build a stronger baby. It also said eating chocolate every day in pregnancy improved their intelligence! So I'm following that article to the T!

starky Lovely to hear from you. I'm friend with you on IG and have seen your wee man. He's adorable! Pleased it's all going well!

marmite There was a travel crib at the Baby Show which folded down into this teeny bag. I'll see if I can google and find a link, it looked great!

We got tons of hand me downs from my friends yesterday, bath seats, gyms, bouncy chairs, jumperoos, toys, bottles, sterilisers - I've gone from being completely unprepared to having everything in one weekend! Aiming to start stripping the nursery next week too....

marmitecheesetoast · 05/03/2017 15:52

Awh thanks stardrey, it would be lovely to join the group once baba is here! Have been thinking about you all and how you're all getting on. I don't have IG but beginning to think it might be a good idea, seeing things others have bought definitely sounds useful!
Yup, we're going to the Manchester one, working on Friday though so we're going on the Saturday. I remember you going last time and we werent able to go - you said there's another one in March and I remember thinking how far away that was and that I'd be 'properly pregnant' by then - and here we are!! Shock No idea where the time has gone! I will look out for the Poddlepod offer Smile do you use it loads still?

Kav and seahawk im still trying to swim at least once a week, its sooo nice to take the weight off with a big bump! It's the only proper exercise I'm doing now aside from a bit of walking/yoga/pilates. I have a mamalicious maternity swimming costume from Asos which I really like.

AudreyBradshaw · 05/03/2017 18:32

Pretty much every day. We keep it on the couch and if I need to pop Spud down then it's safer/easier to have him in there. Sometimes once he even stays asleep in there after I've put him down 😃 it comes in for tummy time too. It's not safe for overnight sleeping like the sleepyhead though (but we've done without one of those) had him in the moses basket until last week and then moved his big cot into our room.

And definitely everybody needs a Ewan the dream sheep.
moose I'd also be very interested in that travel cot. We're going away in June to north Wales and honestly, the logistics are blowing my mind. It's easier now but until you get used to it, every time you leave the house it's like going on your holidays the amount of stuff it feels like you're carting round!

(I can do also mount newborn favourites list if anyone's interested. Aiming to get the blog back up and running shortly too.)

Mooseville · 05/03/2017 19:59

Right, this wasn't the exact one at the Baby Show, but just so you get the idea it looked like this....

Ooh thanks moose we must have posted at the same time earlier as only just seen your last post!

MrsG280516 · 07/03/2017 15:05

Well we managed to order our travel system on Saturday and it got delivered today, I'm so in love with it!

Just came back from a lovely spa break yesterday and was feeling so relaxed. I've decided to take up weekly swimming as soon as I get some new annual leave in May (I would go early before work but I can never get out of bed in time!). Should be some nice gentle exercise for me in the last few months of pregnancy.

Starfish83 · 07/03/2017 15:26

Hi all, just checking in to say hello! Im 8+3 today and had my booking in appointment yesterday - made it all seem very real! 😊 Suffering from extreme tiredness and unrelenting nausea...do any of you lovelies who are further on have any advice as to how to deal with this? I'm a mature student so am lucky in that I can work at home, but I've been so unproductive over the last few weeks due to feeling so awful. I'm going to tell my tutor that I'm pregnant this week - I didn't want to mention it sooner as it's early days, but I think I need to explain...

Hope you're all doing well!

Poppet8583 · 07/03/2017 18:48

Hi Starfish, I had my booking in appointment yesterday too! I'm 8+1 today so we're very close together. Last week I felt really nauseous so I feel your pain; it's not as bad this week but it comes in waves. I found the best thing was to eat what I fancied and eat quite regularly as being hungry (even though you might not realise you are) makes it worse.

Tiredness doesn't help either but I found I couldn't sleep well because I felt sick so it was a vicious cycle!

FXSkip · 07/03/2017 21:56

Hi starfish I feel for you love, although people are usually too wrapped up in their own lives to notice so don't feel like you have to say anything if you don't want to. I had acupuncture which helped with the nausea, and napped whenever I could. My advise is to have as much protein as you can, and as little sugar as possible. Sugar messes with your blood sugar which exacerbates tiredness and nausea, so if you are craving sweet things try to make it something like yoghurt and berries, or a pea protein smoothie. I found it extremely hard not to give in to cravings, so I kept healthier sweet treats like frozen yoghurt or sorbet in freezer for emergencies!!

marmitecheesetoast · 07/03/2017 22:32

starfish I echo what skip says - snack a little and often - protein and carbs seemed to do it for me. And I napped every day for an hour when I got home from work. Sucking strong mints also seemed to stave off nausea a little for me. Know that neither the sickness or the tiredness will last forever even though it feels grim now. Even though I'm nearly 35 weeks pregnant now and knackered it's a totally different type of tiredness - not the grotty exhaustion of the first trimester. Hope you feel better soon!

In other news... 5 and a bit weeks to giving birth and I still couldn't get a bloody seat on the tram this morning!!Angry

Starfish83 · 08/03/2017 08:37

Thanks so much Poppet, FXSkip and Marmite. Your comments are really helpful - despite doing a lot of googling I hadn't had that advice about sugar (and protein/carbs), and realise that I have been totally surrendering to sugar cravings. (It's quite strange as I tended to steer clear of sugar as much as possible before becoming pregnant but have been desperate for it of late.)

Poppet, great that we're so close together dates-wise; we can journey together!

Marmite, eeeek, 5 and a bit weeks, how exciting! Can't believe you couldn't get a seat on the tram though - just unbelievable!
