Hello!!

This is a new wave of grads for those from #TTC1 - Those on the first grade thread are dealing with poonamis and crying babies, while we are still waving our FRER's and wondering if that line is really a figment of our imagination!

Feel free to join in, if you too are embarking on this crazy journey to parenthood!!

Hello,
Got a voicemail whilst I was in school from the hospital to tell me my risks for Downs/Edwards are low 1/9000 and 1/20000 but that one of my results about my hormones has popped up.
Apparently I could have a smaller baby or develop high blood pressure in late pregnancy so I have to go to the hospital on Friday & I'll need to start taking aspirin.
Just wondered if anyone else has been told this, the dr said there's nothing to worry about but obviously I'm worried x

Mooseville · 20/02/2017 18:26

Is that the PAPP A Dixie?
There's a couple of ladies on my June thread with that. I think it's very rarely connected to low birth weight so they advise asprin and you might get extra growth scans - which is a bonus for seeing bubba more times! I think it's more a precaution though. Mine was also low but borderline for any intervention.

Great scan skip
ooh you're really borderline with the school year aren't you?! Going to end up either the youngest or oldest in their year!

moose not sure they just said I'll need to see them so I'm taking my mummy with me on Friday because DH is away!
My mum had high blood pressure with her first child and had to be sedated 3 times!! Cheers mum for that!

MrsG280516 · 20/02/2017 18:49

Oooh we have so many August babies! If any of you lovely ladies want to join our August babies Facebook group (it's a really lovely bunch) then just message me your FB email address and I'll invite you!

Seahawk80 · 20/02/2017 19:27

Dixie I have low Papp a - I'm having extra growth scans at 28/32/36 weeks but that's about it. I'm looking at it as a positive that I get extra scans and that I'm unlikely to go too overdue and fed up!

Musicgrrl · 20/02/2017 19:35

moose sounds like you had a great time in the Lake District. DH and I go every year as well - it's our happy place! We find it so relaxing to go for walks and then eat huge dinners Smile

dixie I did some reading around the hormones they test for when I had mine done and I think moose is right. If you still got a 1 in 9000 for Down's then that's great - means your other indicators must have been really low. They can give you something for the Papp A levels so shouldn't be anything to worry about.

fxskip lovely bubba!

hi starfish! There's pressure to differentiate between the star names now! Will try and get it right Smile

I am having one of those days where I don't feel pregnant at all. Am 15 weeks but haven't really started to show much and the 12 week scan seems ages in the past now! Must try not to get anxious! Have midwife appointment in a week and I'm hoping she'll listen for heartbeat although I know that sometimes they don't.

Musicgrrl · 20/02/2017 19:36

Ooh seahawk I meant to say - how exciting that you're feeling proper movement now!

Seahawk80 · 20/02/2017 20:19

Thanks music I felt the same as you. I was worked my loads in Jan at 15/16 weeks and on one of my rare days off I actually booked a private scan as I knew I wouldn't have any time after my midwife appt and I was so worried they wouldn't listen for the heartbeat. Of course it was all fine - did take midwife a while to find it tho so don't panic! I think it's normal at 15-16 weeks to feel great and worry that you're not pregnant!

Musicgrrl · 20/02/2017 22:31

I am in that place now seahawk! I think it was worse today as I was working from home so had too much time with just me and my thoughts! I can see me breaking and getting another scan in before 20 weeks though. I'll try and take it one day at a time for now! Think I may have got DH accustomed to the idea of a scan so wouldn't take too much more persuading... We have decided to find out the gender but then not tell other people and keep it our secret (will obvs tell you guys!) - anyone else planning on doing that? It might be hard pretending that we don't know I guess.

FXSkip · 21/02/2017 06:30

I think I'm planning to do that musicgrrl but I think it will be super hard! My mum keeps referring to it as she anyway, hopefully she's not disappointed if it's a boy. Back to my proper yoga practice today (with all the lovely twists taken out 😫) but still excited to get moving again!

WantingBaby1 · 21/02/2017 07:14

Lovely scans ladies! And so exciting to feel some movements too.

Thanks for the new thread!

How does everyone feel about bras? Are you buying underwired? Does it make any difference? I'm reluctant to let go of my underwired tshirt bras but does the wire and padding interfere with milk supply? I'm 16 weeks and haven't grown much, still comfortably fitting into a 36c / 34d with an extender Hmm

WantingBaby1 · 21/02/2017 07:18

Ignore the new thread bit above, repost from another group Blush

Starmist · 21/02/2017 08:03

Wanting I shot up a couple of cup sizes early on so I had to buy new bras as mine didn't fit right. I got some Debenhams pregnancy bras, they were half price in the sale at the time as it was just after Christmas. They don't have underwire which I thought I'd hate but they are so comfortable I wouldn't be without them now. Plus they're machine washable (you know you're getting old when things like that impress you! Blush)

MrsG280516 · 21/02/2017 10:36

Wanting I think non-wired bras are recommended just because your ribs with expand and they could become uncomfortable, you also don't want the wires digging into breast tissue once your milk supply starts to come in.

I've gone up about two sizes, but I've been making do with some of my more roomy bras and I've bought a handful of nursing bras in sales here and there. Some of my smaller balconette style ones I can't wear because I just pop out of them!

Seahawk80 · 21/02/2017 12:59

Hi Everyone - my sister sent me a brilliant list of everything you need for the baby and some recommendations - it's too long to paste here but if you want me to send it to you feel free to pm me your email.

Poppet8583 · 21/02/2017 19:08

Hi Starfish! I'm 6 weeks today so we're very close together date-wise Smile Hope you're feeling ok!

kavanaughkj · 22/02/2017 11:07

Heya ladies - got 5 mins to catch my breath and thought I'd pop in here :) Congrats on joining Team Pink MrsG! I'm wobbling a bit on staying Vanilla ... part of me would so like to know but I just want that moment of surprise so I'm trying to stay strong. I had the most vivid dream I've ever had last night which featured me looking after my baby girl so who knows ... during the day I'm convinced I'm having a boy but my dreams have been telling me otherwise!

That's a lovely pic Skip. :)

Wanting - like Starmist I inflated very early on and have had consistently achy boobs since I first got pregnant. I've always been a big girl boobs-wise anyway and usually get my bras from Bravissimo, who shocked me by telling me that the 36D M&S had told me I was was totally wrong and I was actually a 32FF/G. So much better fit though - so I went back to them for a maternity bra after being singularly unimpressed by the variety on offer in Mothercare. If I'd thought 32FF or G was bad, I ended up getting fitted into a 34HH!! It's not a wired bra and is so pretty and comfy but from the sound of the bra size you'd think I had two watermelons strapped to my chest. Actually I think I look relatively normal - they're just bigger than they usually are. My sister tells me they'll inflate even more when my milk comes in ... deep joy! I still can't get my head around boobs being functional rather than decorative.

I'll join that Facebook group MrsG - just have to work out what my Facebook mail ID is :) and Seahawk, will ping you about that list!

Starfish83 · 22/02/2017 13:25

Thanks so much for the lovely welcome messages! 😊

It's so nice to see these great scan pics - congratulations folks!

Hi Poppet, I'm doing well thanks, apart from suffering quite badly with nausea! Am also developing some strong food aversions, but want to eat all the beige/carb-heavy food in sight! 😂 Hope that you're doing OK?

6+4 today.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

⭐️ xx

Starmist · 22/02/2017 20:05

Kav I don't know what we're doing now... we'd been planning on finding out baby's sex but I've heard a few things that have made me think maybe team vanilla is better. Argh! 20 week scan is just after Easter so got a while yet to decide. When's your scan?

Anyone struggling with baby brain? I'm normally a bit ditzy but I've done some very stupid things these past few days! Confused

WantingBaby1 · 22/02/2017 20:11

We've just found out we're having a little girl! So excited. Wonderful scan and took home some amazing close up pictures

Musicgrrl · 22/02/2017 20:48

Eek how exciting wanting! Did you have a preference?

mrs I'm interested in the fb group but I need to work out how to private message first!

seahawk same for the list! I am on the app at the moment so when I get onto the real site I will pm you my email address.

Musicgrrl · 22/02/2017 20:49

I'm convinced we're having a boy which scares me a bit as DH and I can't agree on any boys names!
