Hello!!

This is a new wave of grads for those from #TTC1 - Those on the first grade thread are dealing with poonamis and crying babies, while we are still waving our FRER's and wondering if that line is really a figment of our imagination!

Feel free to join in, if you too are embarking on this crazy journey to parenthood!!

marmite good luck for your scan tomorrow. Hope the placenta has moved to a better position. Also - can you tell me about side sleeping cots? What's the deal with them?

Seahawk80 · 14/02/2017 18:30

Good luck marmite in case your placenta hasn't moved I just thought I'd say both my sisters had planned caesareans for medical reasons / breech babies. Both found it ok and my sister who had the breech baby is having an elective casaeren this time around. I think it's much easier on your body if it is planned rather than an emergency one after hours of labour. But I hope you don't have to have one.

We're going for a v day curry! It's our tradition to go to a curry house with no special menus and inflated prices. I used to hate working Valentine's Day as a waitress. The worst thing is that you'd be rushed off your feet at lunch time with all the people having affairs!!

Poppet I sobbed down the phone to my manager who is in a different office as another department had made a mistake and left me to deal with the client! Luckily he already knew I was pregnant. I told work v early as I needed some time off for early scans due to bleeding.

Good luck to your DH kav mac n cheese does sound amazing!

I haven't really bought much as am getting most stuff from my sisters. There are 3.5 years between 3 of us so I've got all my maternity clothes and most baby stuff passed on. I might splash out on a new bugaboo bee though as we haven't had to spend much. I've also convinced myself to buy a rocking woolly mammoth toy for £130 as the baby behaved giving me no symptoms in January so I could make a decent bonus - I figure it deserves a reward!

Poppet8583 · 14/02/2017 19:23

Good to know it's not just me! At least if it happens again my manager will understand rather than just thinking I've lost the plot!

I'm using Ovia too, I used it for TTC and when I reported my pregnancy it converted to the pregnancy version. It's quite nice to see what size baby is (currently a peppercorn!) and how things are changing.

Glad you're all doing well, lovely to share this crazy journey with you!

Mooseville · 14/02/2017 20:49

Welcome poppet Congratulations!!!
I too was pretty symptomless, other than extreme tiredness and hungoverness - although there have been some dramatic tears and strops for very minor reasons!

Sorry for lack of posting - still tied up with the house and work. Just had a takeaway curry for Valentines Day and now I'm browsing mumsnet while DP watches the football and I munch on the Lindt he bought me! Who says romance is dead? Grin

Good Luck with your scan tomorrow marmite but I too wouldn't be too worried about a c section, although not my first option, several of my friends have had them and all have been back on their feet swiftly with no ill effects. Funnily enough the ones with natural births have been the ones with the issues - tears, back pain from the epidural etc...

I'm so excited to start buying things. We're looking at getting a Next2Me for upstairs and a small crib for downstairs. It's a bit of extra expense but I figure it saves having to move things around or have baby sleeping in bouncers during the day. My best friend's little girl has almost outgrown her Sleepyhead so I'll be buying that from her for our bubs. One of the reasons I like the Next2Me is that the Sleepyhead fits inside nicely.

Dixiechick1991 · 15/02/2017 09:18

Hello everyone!
Had my dating scan yesterday was measured as 4 days ahead and baby was literAlly on the edge of 46mm so only just got the NT measurement of 1mm
I never knew I'd have to do so much jogging about to get baby to lie on it's back, it turned round, it stood up straight and I had to down a can of coke & run up the stairs and have a huge coughing fit for it to turn over.
But when it saved and moved it's head it's just so surreal!!
Now gotta wait until April 13th I know time will go fast but eee!!

Poppet8583 · 15/02/2017 11:22

Lovely pic Dixie!

marmitecheesetoast · 15/02/2017 11:46

Ok so obviously a major case of baby brain here, scan is not in fact today but next Wednesday!! Blush luckily realised before we left for the hospital! Have had it written in my diary today for months no idea how I managed that! Now I have to organise time off again next Wednesday! Oh well, enjoying an unexpected relaxing morning off in the bath watching my bump jiggle all over the place, baby is causing ripples!

Music side sleeping cribs are cribs that you use from birth to about 6 months (when baby can go in their own room) that can be 3 sided to attach to the side of your own bed ie join on by your mattress. So it's sort of like co-sleeping but safer as they are on their own seperate actual mattress and sleeping space but right next to you. I think Chicco Next2Me and Snuzpod are the two main ones but sure there are others. We've got the Next2Me purely because SiL had used it and was able to pass on to us. It can be made 4 sided too if you want to use as a normal crib anytime.

I think my aunt might be buying us a Moses basket for downstairs, I know that generally babies outgrow them quite quickly but will certainly be very handy at first for downstairs sleeping and ease of transportation!

Congrats Dixie lovely pic. I also had to do a lot of coughing to wake baby up at my 12 week scan!!

Sounds like a good evening in my book Moose!

WantingBaby1 · 15/02/2017 15:25

Lovely pic dixie!

Welcome poppet. I use the Ovia app too, baby is the size of an avocado today, 15 weeks exactly. I had an early scan at the Fetal Medical Center at Harley Street, just for some reassurance before we told family at Christmas (when I was 7 weeks). If you can afford the £100 it's certainly worth it. Was lovely to see the little heartbeat and the little bean fluttering away. I'm told some of the early scans are cheaper outside of London.

Got a proper baby bump now! Bought some great maternity over-bump jeans from Dorothy Perkins, I could live in them if work allowed! Fortunately DP have some lovely work dresses too, so have got some of those for the next few months.

Getting quite excited to start buying things now but have managed to hold off thus far, despite the sales. I'm sure there will be more sales in a few months time. Plus we're moving in March so makes sense to wait a bit. Quite keen on getting a moses basket and stand. Anyone have any suggestions of good buys?

Poppet8583 · 15/02/2017 17:53

Thank you Wanting! It must feel so lovely to have a little bump now Smile

kavanaughkj · 15/02/2017 20:47

I'm planning on getting a Finnish baby box, Wanting - you get a whole ton of kit for your new baby in it and then you can use the box as a moses basket. :) www.finnishbabybox.com/eu/en/products/finnish-baby-box I saw them on the news after Will and Kate had Prince George because Finland gifted them one and thought it was a fabulous idea :)

kavanaughkj · 15/02/2017 20:48

Ooh forgot you were asking how far we were along Poppet - I'm 15+3 today (so pretty close to Wanting and MrsG) and already have a baby bump too - larger than expected by this point of the pregnancy. I can't work out how much of it is baby and how much of it is too much macaroni cheese. Blush

FXSkip · 16/02/2017 06:34

Welcome poppet I think I might be the last one here, so I'm glad you've come along. I feel so sad about all the grads who joined us recently and then it didn't work out, I can't get over it. Anyway, congrats to you! I'm 12w today, look kind of ok in the morning but by nighttime I could easily pass for the full 40w. Makes it hard when I have work 9am to 9pm most nights 😐 I still feel really rank too, just like being hungover every single day for 2 months, really takes its toll. I want 4 kids too - surely can't always be like this?! Also my DH is doing my head in, he's doing exams this year for work so refuses to do any housework or even discuss it, so at the moment it's just not getting done, I literally have to go to bed as soon as I get in so that I can get up the next day 😩 ok moan over. Scan on Monday - can't wait 😊

Seahawk80 · 16/02/2017 07:49

Sorry you're having a rough time skip are you able to get a cleaner? Even if it's just for a few months. My DH wasn't keen but I insisted on getting one last year Jan -
April when work was crazy for me. We still have her and he'll be just as gutted as me when we have to let her go when I'm on Mat leave.

I know what you mean about being sad when it doesn't work out for people. It's so unfair.

Poppet8583 · 16/02/2017 08:27

Hi Kav and Skip! Oooh macaroni cheese...

I agree Skip, I really hope they can join this thread very soon. It's really upsetting to see what some ladies are going through to get pregnant.

My biggest thing at the moment seems to be sleep - I can get to sleep fine, then I wake up around 4am every day and struggle to get back to sleep. It's so frustrating! I feel ok throughout the day but by the time I get home from work I'm shattered. I think I'll mention it to my GP on Monday to see if they have any advice.

Working 9-9 is crazy Skip, are you able to cut back a bit? Sorry to hear your DH isn't helping you much, I imagine that doesn't help with your tiredness!

Nearly the weekend thank goodness - it's been a long week!

Mooseville · 16/02/2017 09:06

Oh I'm so rubbish, I completely forgot I was keeping the list of dates etc.
I'm maybe not the best person to do it, I'm so unorganised at the moment with house move and baby brain! Grin

I think we'd have to start again, I don't want to republish what I have as I don't want to accidentally include those who have had bad news and I've not kept it updated.

Kav we must be due date buddies now that my dates have been moved forward, I'm 15+4 today Smile

marmitecheesetoast · 16/02/2017 09:20

No worries Moose not as big a baby brain moment as me booking the entirely wrong day off work for my hospital appointment yesterday which wasn't actually yesterday!

Maybe time to start a new list then? although also not sure I'd be the best person to be in charge of it Hmm

Sorry to hear you're having a rough time Skip you definitely need to put yourself first a bit more by the sounds of it, first trimester is exhausting and you need sleep and a bit of pampering! Is there any way of reducing your hours, can you speak to your manager at all? Seahawk's suggestion of a cleaner is a really good one.

ns1348 · 16/02/2017 12:26

Hi all,

Welcome Poppet! Really nice to have a new person on the thread, and congrats on your BFP. Sorry to hear about your sleep difficulties, have you tried audio books? I'm listening to the Hobbit at the mo and finding it quite helpful for getting off to sleep sometimes, as I'm also struggling at times.

I've been quiet lately as I was really ill with morning sickness and since starting to feel a bit better (quite early, in my 8th week, trying not to worry about it) I seem to have been super busy, I'm not even sure what with!

I'm 9 + 6 today, edd 15 Sept, and we will be finding out sex.

But I have been semi-following and it's nice to see everyone else's news.

Dixie congrats on your scan, pleased they did manage to get the NT measurement. Bit concerned (as a wheelchair user) about the possible need to move around lots to try and get baby to move at hospital for scan... fingers crossed it'll be alright for me somehow. My 12 week scan is 2 weeks tomorrow at bang on 12 weeks, really looking forward to seeing baby again.

skip good to see you again. Your working hours do sound crazy, I hope you can sort something to reduce them at least a bit. Sorry to hear about DH's refusal to help Sad

I was hoping to go back to work in archives today, but think I might have to work from home this afternoon as new wheelchair batteries haven't appeared and old ones are utterly dead... but really looking forward to getting back to studying and so pleased to be feeling a bit more human! Still needing extra sleep but that seems pretty standard.

Poppet8583 · 16/02/2017 13:23

Thanks NS! Thanks for the audio book suggestion; I usually read before I go to sleep and to be fair I can get to sleep with no problems, it's just staying asleep that seems to be an issue! I might try an audio book though so if I wake up, I can listen to that rather put the light on and wake my husband up! I wake up at 4am every morning; it's as if my body is saying "that's enough sleep, get up now!" Hoping it'll sort itself out soon.

Sorry to hear about your morning sickness but glad you're feeling a bit better now.

FXSkip · 16/02/2017 13:37

Thanks everyone, I'd love to get a cleaner but DH refuses flat out. Long (rubbish) story which I won't bore you with, but I've cut down my hours from March so I'll only work those hours twice a week. I'm on a course all weekend too - 6am to 6pm 🙈 just want to sleep all day!! Still going on holiday in 3 weeks time, so I'm excited for that! Anyone know about good mosquito repellant that is safe for pregnancy?

poppet I had that for a few weeks, waking up at 3.30am on the dot, I tried listening to YouTube sleep meditations which sometimes worked, other times I got up and walked around for a bit, ate a rice cake and made nighttime tea before going back to bed. You'll get through this and go back to normal in time!

kavanaughkj · 16/02/2017 18:14

Omg marmite, where has the time gone? I can't believe that's all that's left! It must all be feeling very real by now.

I feel your pain Skip - long hours at work suck, particularly during the first trimester. I went through something similar for a while but thankfully things should be calming down a bit in a few weeks' time. SO looking forward to a week of holiday - I hope you get some time to rest.

Hee - yes, we're due date buddies now MrsG :) Do you have much of a bump now?

Good to see you back NS - sorry you've had such troubles with morning sickness. It seems to go on forever when you're in the middle of it so I hope it passes for you soon. I'm definitely enjoying having a normal tummy again - feeling healthier today than I have in AGES now that my cold has gone.

I had the same thing with weird waking times Poppet and Skip - for a good couple of weeks I was waking up at 2:30 - 3am just wide awake! I was knackered at work for a good long time - had to go off for a sneaky snooze at lunch in the office's medical room a couple of times to stop myself faceplanting my keyboard.

Just had my buggy delivered today, albeit to my parents' house - I'll go investigate it on the weekend. All very exciting :) It's ages until my next appointments and scans though - I have an appointment with the midwife beginning of March, which seems late, and my supposed '20 week' scan is I think on the 27 March. I'm 16 weeks on Sunday so that's a tad late ...

MrsG280516 · 16/02/2017 19:51

This was my bump yesterday morning Grin some days it's more round than others. On an evening I look ready to pop!

Got my gender scan on Sunday, then MW appointment next Wednesday and quadruple blood test on Friday, lots going on within the next week.

#TTC1 - Second Wave grads thread!
Poppet8583 · 17/02/2017 08:00

Lovely bump pic MrsG!

marmitecheesetoast · 17/02/2017 11:22

Your sleep will get much better in the second trimester and you'll feel 'human' again for a while, honestly! (And then you hit the third trimester... Hmm)

Bit concerned about my hips. They click a bit when I walk and when I roll over (a million times a night) from one side to the other in bed I get a really alarming 'clunk' in my pelvis that really sets my teeth on edge Confused
32 weeks today... how the hell did that happen? Really struggling sit at my desk now as bump gets in the way!

hope those suffering with sickness feel better soon.

Sounds like a busy week for you next week MrsG! I've got my placenta location scan take two

Where are you off to on holiday Skip? not sure about repellant I'm afraid.

Kav maybe ring them up and check whether the scan date is definitely right and whether there's any scope of moving it closer to 20 weeks for you? Exciting though! Are you planning on finding out the sex?
