Hello!!

This is a new wave of grads for those from #TTC1 - Those on the first grade thread are dealing with poonamis and crying babies, while we are still waving our FRER's and wondering if that line is really a figment of our imagination!

Feel free to join in, if you too are embarking on this crazy journey to parenthood!!

So jealous of the gender scans. I always said I'd wait and DH really wants to wait so we're team surprise - I'm dying to know though!

Starmist · 12/02/2017 07:57

Thanks for sharing about your placentas Moose & Mrs very interesting!

Moose hope the unpacking is going ok & you manage to get some decent sleep soon.

Marmite hopefully your physio won't take long. Midwife told me if I ever needed any physio they'd prioritise it with me being pregs.
Hope you don't have to have a c section. I'd never heard/thought of placentas blocking the exit but I did a google & as you say it tends to move out the way as you get bigger, so FX yours will do the same. Honestly there is so much to learn about being pregnant!

Sorry to hear you've not been feeling great Skip. Hope the sickness settles soon.

Seahawk hope they can rule more things out & that you get some further reassuring news at the next scan.

Eek Wanting & Mrs must be so exciting to be close to the gender scan! I can't wait to find out.

MrsG280516 · 12/02/2017 12:11

Actually just called the private scan place this morning and managed to switch the gender scan to next Sunday so only a week to wait Grin

Seahawk80 · 12/02/2017 12:40

Thanks star
mrsg ha ha that's exactly the kind of thing I'd do!
I'm wondering if I'm so worried about tomorrow as we're not finding out the sex so I don't have that to look forward to and instead I'm focusing on all the medical tests. Perhaps I should try to convince DH that we should find out!!

LovelyFishy · 12/02/2017 15:22

Sorry I haven't posted much recently, work really is knocking all the energy out of me when coupled with pregnancy! Trying to catch up, sorry to anyone I missed:

Star congratulations on a lovely scan pic! Grin

Kav sorry to hear about your DH's job. Fx somethings turns up quick time. Glad the sickness is over too, I hated that bit so much!

Marmite when's your scan for the placenta? Hopefully it's nicely moved by now! And have you finished hospital bag yet?

Hells I've been ordering steaks medium, I'm normally a rear person. Did eat some rather pink roast beef the other day too but sshhhhhh....

MrsG yay on getting the scan date moved, exciting times!

Just did a fairly large order of baby stuff today, by the end of next week we will be the proud owners of a real life baby crib! Shock

marmitecheesetoast · 12/02/2017 18:39

Eeek that's exciting Fishy what crib have you ordered? We've got a loan of SiLs Next2Me crib. What else have you ordered?

Placenta scan is on Wednesday morning...had done quite well at putting it out my head since 20 week scan as seemed so far away and knew there was nothing I could do about it anyway but getting quite impatient/nervous to see what the scan shows now... fx as really hate the idea of a c section if I can avoid it..

Have bought pretty much all the hospital bag stuff now for both me and baby but still haven't actually got round to sorting or packing any of it! That's the job I've got lined up for my day off tomorrow afternoon after my swim!

Not long at all until your gender scan now then MrsG do you have an inkling what you're having? I'm now getting really obsessed with wondering whether we're having a boy or a girl, as I get increasingly obsessed with trying to think of names!

Have got my brother visiting this weekend and been out for a long walk today, was good but think I've possible overdone it and not done my hips any favours Confused

Hope your unpacking has been going well this weekend Moose

Seahawk80 · 12/02/2017 19:18

marmite I read that your husband/partner should actually pack the bag so that they can find things for you. I've delegated that job!

LovelyFishy · 12/02/2017 20:47

Marmite we've ordered a crib from IKEA for the nursery, not the one baby will sleep in at first once we've brought them home. We're thinking Moses basket but are going to wait until after NCT to buy as we were getting a bit confused by all the choices! Re: placenta I bet there's got to be a load of people saying "I did this yoga position everyday and it moved" sort of stories out there! Do you have any inkling of boy or girl?

Seahawk that's actually a really smart idea, I'd never have thought of that! Gonna have to remember that one myself.

Musicgrrl · 13/02/2017 07:26

Thinking of you today seahawk. What time is your scan? I'm sure all will be great! Have you persuaded DH to find out the gender??

Seahawk80 · 13/02/2017 08:42

Thanks Music, the heart scan is at 1130 and then the normal one at 1230 so should be all done by 2. We're staying team surprise as at my 12 week scan the placenta was quite low so if I do have a caesarean I'd really like a surprise.

Seahawk80 · 13/02/2017 14:35

All was fine! They couldn't see everything in the heart scan so have another one at 28 weeks but they were happy with what they saw and I'm assuming that if there was a major problem they would have seen it today. Only downside was that the doctor was really really weird! I wouldn't say it was a lovely experience but I'm just glad everything is ok.

Musicgrrl · 13/02/2017 14:57

Such great news seahawk! So glad all was well. I didn't realise they did a separate heart scan. Does that depend which NHS trust you're under? Have you got a pic? Your message made me laugh though - what was weird about the doctor??

Seahawk80 · 13/02/2017 15:56

The extra heart scan was because the nuchal measurement was a little on the high side at 12 weeks so it's just a precaution. I didn't get a pic, I remember at the 12
Week they didn't offer and I meant to ask but was so fed up at the end I forgot. They said I'd have to wait a while so see if baby changed position and they are so busy there I knew I could be waiting hours, luckily it moved at the last minute. I've got some lovely pics from the 16 week scan anyway so I'm not too worried.

Doctor kept starting to say something then just stopping speaking. He was v friendly and jokey but strange. We stopped at one point so that he could have a coffee and a cigarette!!! He also said I should walk around to see if the baby moved but I'm sure it was just a fag break - I don't think that is normal!

Musicgrrl · 14/02/2017 06:51

Haha seahawk he sounds quite odd! Must have been having a bad day?! You must be feeling relieved and happy now that it's done Smile

I'm now 14 weeks and my pregnancy app makes you pay if you want second trimester access! Anyone using any good free ones that they would recommend?

LovelyFishy · 14/02/2017 07:43

Seahawk at least it wasn't creepy odd I guess! Glad everything else went well and you're happy, that's the main thing. Smile

Music I'm using Ovia and I really like it! You get 4 themes to choose from for babies size, so some weeks I'm told it's the size of a butternut squash and other weeks it's the size of a chinchilla, action figure or croissant!

Poppet8583 · 14/02/2017 08:09

Hello! Can I join? I was on the TTC thread but I got my BFP on Saturday so I'm now a grad Smile

Stats...
I'm Poppet
Age 31
BFP cycle 3
EDD somewhere between 17th & 24th October (according to Ovia I'm 5 weeks today but NHS website says 4).

Very excited but it also doesn't quite feel real yet! Symptom-wise I've had very little; a few pains on my left side in the lead up to when AF would have been due but they've gone now. Haven't been sleeping too well either but I'm not sure if that's down to pregnancy or being stressed at work! Feels like a long wait to start telling people so I hope it goes quickly...

I hope you're all doing well, looking forward to hearing about your journeys and experiences!

Seahawk80 · 14/02/2017 10:31

Thanks guys - yes at least he wasn't creepy odd! Part of the scan was a transvaginal to check my cervix (is routine but optional at my hospital) I was quite glad that a woman came in to do it!

Seahawk80 · 14/02/2017 10:31

Welcome poppet and congrats!

kavanaughkj · 14/02/2017 12:28

Music, I'm using Pregnancy+ which I really like. I paid for the upgraded version though but I don't think the free one cuts you off by the 2nd trimester. :)

Welcome Poppet! Always lovely to have a new grad join :) the symptoms will start soon enough - I think I started getting proper morning sickness around week 7, though it was never more than nausea for me.

Am feeling virtually normal at the moment and in my happy place with macaroni cheese on the menu for lunch. Love me my cheese and carbs lately ... DH still looking for job but has a few interviews so I'm hopeful.

Fishy I was looking at IKEA for cribs eventually. :) Looking to get the Next2Me or a Snuzpod for the first 6 months though - and if anybody else but me is looking to buy a Cosatto Ooba travel system, it's on offer with a free car seat until the end of the month. I'm splurging on it later today, I love the Fox Tale print one!

MrsG280516 · 14/02/2017 12:56

Exciting choosing a pram already Kav we have our eye on the new M&P's Ocarro. Looks like MIL is wanting to buy the pram for us so we just need to take her with us to have a look at it and decide if we are going to go for it. Hopefully at some point in March!

Welcome poppet I'm sure you'll start to feel pg very soon! I didn't have any morning sickness really, a few days where I felt a bit of nausea but that's all. My main symptom is AF like cramps/stretching which I feel almost every day. I think I'm growing some kind of giant baby though (I really hope not, I'm only 5ft1, pray for my lady parts!!)

Poppet8583 · 14/02/2017 13:08

Thanks for the welcome! I've got one symptom today - I'm literally an emotional wreck! I ended up in tears with my manager this morning and just had to tell her I was pregnant. Very early to say anything but I'm kind of glad I did in a way (although I feel a bit guilty that my family don't know yet so I will be telling them this weekend). I find my job pretty stressful so it probably helps that she's aware.

Anyone else feel tearful in the early stages?

marmitecheesetoast · 14/02/2017 17:21

Good point seahawk! I organised and laid all the stuff out in piles yesterday so DH can pack into actual bags himself at some point this week (if he ever has a minute away from the continued nightmare of the DIY Sad)

I know it is confusing Fishy! We've got a side sleeping crib for the first 6 months in our room then they'll be going in a cot in their own room. But not sure what to do about downstairs during the day sleeping? Can't decide whether to get a Moses basket as well or not...
There's certainly lots of yoga moves for moving a baby in the wrong position but I'm guessing it wouldn't work for a placenta! Grin although probably if I did Google it people would be claiming all sorts of things! Scan is tomorrow morning... nervous to see what they say about the placenta but also a bit excited as hoping I'll get another glimpse of the baby! I imagine they'll look so different now to 20 week scan and curious to see what position they're in! No idea or inkling whether boy or girl Fishy I was convinced boy for a while but think I've swung the other way now! Remind me did you find out you're having a girl?

That all sounds rather bizarre Seahawk but great news all ok!

Good news on your OHs interviews Kav FX. And am v jealous of the Mac and cheese - I seriously can't get enough of cheese at the moment!

Welcome and congrats Poppet! It'll take a while to sink in and feel real!

Anyone doing anything nice for Valentine's Day? We're not really doing anything but DH did get me some champagne truffles this morning to make up for the fact I can't drink any actual fizz yet, bless him!

LovelyFishy · 14/02/2017 17:34

Welcome and congratulations Poppet! I also got nausea at about 7 weeks. Thankfully no extra emotions for me. I'm really laid back so if I had suddenly become emotional it would have been the weirdest thing for everybody!!

Kav macaroni cheese sounds like the best idea ever! Grin Ikea do some really good stuff and very reasonably priced! We got quite a lot of stuff from them.

MrsG like you I'm also hoping for a petite baby, I'm just a bit taller at 5"3. Both my dad and DH's dad were over 6" so we're hoping that's not going to re-surface this generation!

Marmite I keep hearing good things about rock'n'play thingys for downstairs? Yet another thing to throw into the mix! Yes I found out gender, have a little girl. Smile I've also been quite partial to cheese but wouldn't call it a craving, I like cheese a lot anyway!

The Tesco's special Valentine meal deal doesn't come with any non-alcoholic drink options, quite annoyed by that!

Poppet8583 · 14/02/2017 17:40

Thanks Marmite and Fishy! Felt a bit silly as I got upset (very unnecessarily) at an email! Bloody hormones Blush Although it's a small price to pay for a baby in 9 months. My manager was great though and really delighted for me.

How far along is everyone? I've booked in to see my GP on Monday so that'll be my first PG-related appointment...I assume it's just blood tests and setting a 12 week scan date?

Musicgrrl · 14/02/2017 18:00

Congratulations poppet - it's lovely to have you here! Just to add another experience on those first few weeks - I felt like I had no symptoms at all and I was really worried. I didn't ever get morning sickness but I did get quite gassy (lots of burping), tired and over emotional. I would say I'm still over emotional when I'm tired to be honest! It's quite hard on my DH...

My GP didn't need to see me when I got my BFP, my first appointment was the midwife booking appointment at around 8 weeks. That was when they arranged my 12 week scan date too.

I'm now 14 weeks and the 16 week midwife appointment is the next thing on my radar. Then looking forward to developing a baby bump as opposed to squishy bloat and feeling the baby move later in this trimester!

kav pregnancy+ was the one I was using! I have liked it so I could just shell out the £3.99! Mac and cheese - yum! Might have to get that for lunch tomorrow now... Exciting that you're buying stuff now. Think we'll hold out a bit longer as we haven't done any research yet! Keen to pick up any tips from you guys so will be following your purchases!

fishy just downloaded ovia - love the size comparisons!
