Hello!!

This is a new wave of grads for those from #TTC1 - Those on the first grade thread are dealing with poonamis and crying babies, while we are still waving our FRER's and wondering if that line is really a figment of our imagination!

Feel free to join in, if you too are embarking on this crazy journey to parenthood!!

Hurrah for getting the keys Moose!! Star not overly surprising about your BP, glad it came down again by end of the appointment.

Great scan pic Mrs!

Good luck for your scan this afternoon Star

Star I use the Maggie Howell Natal Hypnotherapy CD and book. Finding them really good so far, and chose them from a lot of recommendations, but obviously won't really know how good they've been til I'm in labour! Really enjoying NCT. We were practicing massage techniques and positions for in labour last night - suddenly all feeling very freakin' real! Everyone getting chatting nicely too, it seems like a really good group and we're already talking about all meeting up outside of the classes before the babies arrive so feel really pleased about that as I have been worried about having no mum friends! I'm the first of my friends to have a baby and my family live 250 miles away!

kavanaughkj · 09/02/2017 13:10

Hello all :) feels like I barely show up here these days with work stomping on me constantly but I miss checking in.

Good luck with the scan this afternoon Star!

Lovely scan pic MrsG ... another one with a chunky baby huh Grin. I was further on than they thought too!

Hope all the furniture goes in OK for you today Moose :) moving is an exciting time!

Things are a mixed bag here at the moment. No sooner was I over morning sickness when indigestion and headaches hit - thankfully no heartburn yet - but thank God for Gaviscon and paracetamol! Then DH lost his job. Argh. He has interviews booked for today and tomorrow this week but I'm hoping to God this isn't a repeat of the last time he was out of work when it took 5 months to find another job.

We finished a particularly nasty period of work in my job but I'm still up to my eyeballs, and to top things off nicely I now have a stinking cold. Have been lathering myself in Vicks Vaporub and inhaling it in hot water but I miss Sinex and Lemsip! Thankfully I can at least work from home now so I'm having a pyjama day - and I'm going to see the Strictly tour on Sat which I'm looking forward to. :)

Hope you're all well!

Seahawk80 · 09/02/2017 14:21

Good luck star!

Starmist · 09/02/2017 16:05

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone. There's a baby in there! Baby was wriggling around loads so we'll have to go for another scan in a week or 2. The scan isn't that clear but here it is... so relieved everything is ok

Seahawk80 · 09/02/2017 16:36

star my pics were like that - all blurs and the only half decent one the baby had its hand in front of its face so it looks like it has a massive nose like mr burns from the simpsons! Glad everything was good k for you Grin

Musicgrrl · 09/02/2017 16:36

star that's fantastic! I bet you're elated :) lovely to have a wriggly baby too. Does that mean they couldn't do the NT measurement? Nice that you get another scan in a way!

Thank you for all your lovely messages. I am feeling lots happier about everything now and I have set in motion getting an referral for me to get myself tested.

moose I'm so glad that you finally got your keys! It's a start of a new chapter and hopefully you can put the pain of solicitors and house moves to one side and not have to do it again for a good few years!

seahawk you're scan is just around the corner now, how exciting! I bet it will feel like a real milestone.

marmite glad you're having a good experience with nct. We have signed up to classes in July. I think it will be a bit like starting school when you hope that people like you and that you like them!

mrs what a beautiful big bubba! And a great scan pic too. How great to skip forward a week! Does that account for your early ovulation or is baby just measuring a bit big at this stage?

kav I have no idea how you are coping with your job being so busy! You must be super woman. I am working from home one day a week at the moment as the commute in and out of London is really tiring me out. I haven't actually told my manager that I'm pregnant yet so I do worry that people might just think I am slacking off! I am thinking of telling him tomorrow. Has everyone else told their work now? So sorry that DH has lost his job. FX he can get another one without too much difficulty.

MrsG280516 · 09/02/2017 20:33

music it puts me way ahead, this due date would mean I conceived on CD5, which is pretty much impossible considering we didn't DTD until CD8 Hmm definitely just a big baby but the sonographer wasn't having any of it, apparently babies don't get "big" until after half way through...

Starmist · 10/02/2017 06:59

Marmite thanks for letting me know which hypnobirthing cd you use, I'll check it out. Glad you have some potential mum friends at NCT Smile

Kav I'm sorry to hear you haven't been feeling great, hope it passes soon. What a shame about DH's job, FX he manages to find another one quickly. Ooh enjoy the Strictly tour, I saw it a few years ago, it was amazing, you'll love it!

Music no she couldn't do the NT measurement in fact she was struggling to measure anything very easily so I haven't been given a due date yet. She said I'm definitely around the 11-12 week mark but she said to be any more accurate would just be a guess given how wriggly baby was.
Glad to hear you are getting a referral.
I told my manager a few weeks back & a couple of my close work colleagues have guessed. I'll tell everyone else in my office next week when I'm back in work, I'd rather they all know now as I don't want to have to worry about hiding my little bump anymore, I'd rather show it off. We have a lovely office with a great bunch of people so I'd happily let them all know now.

Mrs it must be frustrating when the dates don't match up & you know conception wasn't physically possible then. Maybe baby has had an early growth spurt or something.

Random question & something I hadn't thought of until my scan & midwife mentioned it, where are your placentas? Mine is across the front which she said is fine but may mean it takes me longer to feel the kicks as they will be cushioned a bit. She said the main thing was that the placenta wasn't across the bottom & blocking the exit - I never even realised that could happen! Confused

Mooseville · 10/02/2017 07:49

Hi star quick answer to your placenta question while I catch up!
I have anterior placenta (at the front!)! And it took me a bit longer to feel movement but I get quite a lot of kicks now but always low down. It was funny at my midwife appt this time as because the placenta covered most of my stomach they took ages to find the heartbeat - looking for a little hole where they could get through without the placenta pulse covering it! I also noticed in the bath last night I could see it pulsing through my stomach which was a bit freaky!

Insomnia has kicked in here - keep waking at 4am. Then when I drop back off I seem to do one massive snore which wakes me back up! Aargh!
The move has gone ok. We're all in now anyway! Just so much work to do!!!! AAARGH!!!!

Just popping in to say hi!
Had the Panorama test yesterday so should get the results in a week. Thought I would be 11 weeks today but she put me 3 days ahead so 11+3 today. Said due date is still the same though.

Moose great that you got into the house. We had an appointment to view a house yesterday with a view to put an offer in on it and the estate agent never turned up! Very annoying as DH had to take time off work for it. Going to ring them this morning and see what happened - was really excited yesterday about going to see it, I viewed it Monday but DH just wanted to see it before we offered anything.

Whats people views about eating steak - We are going to a lovely steak restaurant on Saturday. I get my steaks medium but I have read that red meat should be cooked through.
Still haven't told people Im pregnant so not drinking wine and getting well done steak is going to be a big give away!

MrsG280516 · 10/02/2017 09:13

Great news on the move Moose!

I also have an anterior placenta Star I think its quite common and only a few cases actually cause problems when it comes to delivery. When I listen to the baby's heart beat with my Doppler I find it very low down, almost below the pubic bone because any higher than that and all I can hear is placenta!

Kav sorry to hear about DH's job, hopefully he will find another quickly!

Hells I personally would still eat a steak medium. I usually have my steaks rare and I had a steak before Christmas about a week after we found out that I had pre-ordered at a restaurant which was rare, I was totally fine. If it wouldn't normally make you poorly then it will have no effect on baby. But everyone is different when it comes to "risks" in pregnancy. I'm still eating runny eggs for example, as they're lion stamped most sources say its okay but midwifes still tell you not to.

Seahawk80 · 10/02/2017 10:08

Hels I till have rare steak - as long as I know and trust the restaurant, the likelihood of getting food poisoning is so tiny. I'm more worried about burgers as the meat being ground up makes it much more likely to have bacteria in it. That said I had a medium burger early on as I just forgot and all was fine!

marmitecheesetoast · 10/02/2017 12:43

Just had 31 week MW appointment, it was the nice midwife yay! The first time I've seen anyone for a second time Hmm could hear the heartbeat going up as they were getting more active kicking and pushing at the doppler! Bump still measuring big but within normal range, slightly further back down the scale than last time! Midwife has referred me for physio to see if they can help with my thigh and hip pains. Not sure how long it will take to get an appointment though!

Kav that sounds really hard, glad the really busy bit of your work is over. I had two stinking colds in this pregnancy and it is really crappy not being able to take normal cold remedies. If you need to don't feel bad for calling in sick to give yourself time to get better! Sorry to hear about your DHs job, what a nightmare. FX he finds something quickly.

Music it is just like starting school - nervous and excited and definitely wanting to like people/wanting them to like you!

No problem Star hope you find it useful. It's definitely made me feel more positive about birth. I'm actually quite excited about giving birth in a weird way now and will be disappointed if I have to have a C section in the end for my pesky placenta. If nothing else I love the CD for relaxation - great to listen to in the bath!
I also have an anterior (at the front) placenta. As Moose said it's really quite common - 4 out of of 8 of us at my NCT group have anterior placentas and it really doesn't affect anything other than maybe feeling kicks later. I started feeling what I thought were early subtle movements around 18 weeks and what I was more sure were definite movements by 20 weeks which I don't think is particularly late for first timers. My problem is that my placenta is also partially covering the cervix (so blocking the exit!!) which was picked up at 20 week scan. I've to go back for a placenta location scan next week to see whether it's moved. If it doesn't move by a certain point they schedule you for C section Sad. Really hoping its moved up out the way. Apparently around 50% that are picked up at 20 week scan will have moved by now so fingers crossed!

Glad to hear you're in now Moose! I know the feeling with so much work to do and living in chaos... try and pace yourself! Hopefully you can have a good go at it this weekend?

Happy Friday and waves to everyone else! BrewCake

FXSkip · 10/02/2017 18:51

Hi all, not been around much as have been so wiped out with fatigue and feeling sick all the time. Really want 4 kids but the thought of looking after 3 right now makes me want to pass out! I'm with you on the steak - a glass of wine drunk slowly with a medium steak is perfectly fine, In a reputable restaurant in the U.K. As is sushi, cooked ham etc. It's really about what you're comfortable with. As we know the biggest risk to babies is listeria and that could come from any vegetable, anywhere, any time. For this reason I am sticking to pasta and pizza dishes - very safe Grin

HellsBellsK · 11/02/2017 09:12

Okay great thanks girls, In Dublin but its a very good restaurant so guessing everything will be fine. Ill go medium and sip the red wine - hopefully no one will pay much attention. I just need to stay awake foe the evening now Smile

Seahawk80 · 11/02/2017 09:49

kav I meant to say sorry about your DH's job, that must be hard, and a worry that you could do without. Hope he finds something soon.

Starmist · 11/02/2017 12:14

Just dropping in to say this is a lovely workout.

#TTC1 - Second Wave grads thread!
Seahawk80 · 11/02/2017 14:49

Thanks Star I'm going to get a workout DVD all being good on Monday. I'm starting to really worry now. I'm sure it's just because the 12 week scan was so awful that it's playing on my mind. Working all weekend really isn't helping to pass the time either. Feeling a bit sorry for myself.

Musicgrrl · 11/02/2017 16:24

seahawk totally understandable for you to be nervous but I'm sure all will be okay. I read somewhere that most problems picked up at the 20 week scan either fix themselves or aren't too significant in the grand scheme of things (it just helps you to be prepared for any issues). And I'm sure most of the time things are routine anyway! Was the NT measurement at the 12 week scan tour bad experience? Buying yourself a fitness DVD will be a nice treat. I am a worrier too so might try and get a quick scan around 16 weeks.

Seahawk80 · 11/02/2017 17:38

Thanks music short version of the 12 week scan is that the nuchal was a tiny bit over average (2.8) but also the blood results which we got same day gave us odds of 1/13 for downs and 1/14 for the other two. We decided to have a cvs same day and had to wait for about 4 hours. It was just a horrible stressful sad day. The plus is that now all those things plus cystic fibrosis and some other things are now ruled out.

I'm a worrier too - I had a scan at 16 weeks as I couldn't believe baby was still in there! Ultrasound direct did one for £40 up to 16 weeks which was the cheapest I could find

Musicgrrl · 11/02/2017 18:19

That sounds like such a horrible experience seahawk but it's good to look on the upside like you said! Great to have those things ruled out completely. I still have a paranoia at the back of my mind that our baby will be the 1 in 15,000 but my DH has told me not to think so negatively! We did both decide that with those odds we didn't think the extra money for the harmony scan would be well spent for us although I guess it might have given me greater peace of mind (or not!)

I'm not sure if I'll be able to persuade DH to get on board with another private scan but we have a holiday booked a week before our 20 week scan and it would be nice to have some sense of reassurance before that. I'll keep working on him...

mrs did you buy yourselves a Doppler? Not sure if I saw that on this thread or another. How are you getting on with it? I like the idea but also don't think it would help my anxious state very much if I wasn't very good at using it!

Musicgrrl · 11/02/2017 18:22

I've just found a pregnancy yoga class in my area and am thinking of giving it a try. I haven't done yoga before but it sounds like it would be good for relaxation and stretching/toning.

Seahawk80 · 11/02/2017 18:28

music my DH wasn't keen on another scan but I picked a good day and sat him down and explained why I wanted it and that I understood that we can't do it every week and he was fine, I think it's just a case of picking the right time and having your explanation clear in your head.

Do the yoga - I love my classes already. Feel great afterwards and they also give you lots of excersices you can do for various pains and things that can help with the birth.

WantingBaby1 · 11/02/2017 18:31

Hi ladies.

RE steak - I asked my midwife who said as long as it's well sealed / seared on the outside it's fine to have it less than well done. Medium is fine.

We had an early valentines meal out this week and I had most of a small glass of wine, about 100ml I'd say, over the course of the meal. Getting to the second trimester I'm less worried about avoiding everything nice. A small glass of wine, drunk slowly, every few weeks won't hurt, according to the books I've read. A midwife friend unofficially agrees.

Lovely pic star!

Sorry to hear about the job kav. I've come through the morning sickness to horrible acid reflux now. Gavisgon is my best friend atm!

We've booked a gender scan for 16 wks, which is 11 days away. Can't wait to start buying some tiny clothes!

MrsG280516 · 11/02/2017 19:10

Exiting wanting our gender scan is two weeks today! I wish I could move it forward as I'll be 16+6 by then (booked it when I thought I'd be exactly 16 weeks) but they're all booked up.

music yes we bought a basic Angelcare one from Tesco Direct, it's pretty easy to use but I'm quite laid back and when I couldn't hear it in the early days I just told myself it's because they're so tiny. Now I'm nearly 15 weeks I can find the heartbeat immediately when I use it. I like to listen before bed a few nights a week, it relaxes me!
