Hello!!

This is a new wave of grads for those from #TTC1 - Those on the first grade thread are dealing with poonamis and crying babies, while we are still waving our FRER's and wondering if that line is really a figment of our imagination!

Feel free to join in, if you too are embarking on this crazy journey to parenthood!!

FXSkip, please stay. I wish Kwick would jump over too. Every pregnancy is different, try to remember that. I have absolutely no symptoms either. 🤔 I'm sure if I get sick as a dog I'll be wishing back these days. Lol. The only thing I've noticed is my smell is being weird. But honestly nothing else.

Mooseville · 05/01/2017 10:23

Hi skip Welcome!!!
I can understand your nervousness, but we promise we'll take care of you over here!!!

I've had pretty much zero symptoms throughout, just odd ones that come and go, - even now I'm 18 weeks and I just look fatter, still not sure I'm actually pregnant!

FXSkip · 05/01/2017 10:59

Thanks guys! Yea I tried to get kwick to come too but she's going to wait until after her scan. I feel oddly detached, like when I go to the scan I am just expecting it to be a dud again, I can't seem to comprehend that it might not be. Just need to forget about it I think and see what happens. Just 216 hours to go....

MrsG280516 · 05/01/2017 11:13

Hi Skip! I'm 8+5 today and my symptoms are pretty much non-existent, had some nausea between 6-7 weeks but its tapered off now. Got everything crossed for your scan.

HellsBellsK · 05/01/2017 12:08

Im counting the hours with you Skip mine isn't till 5 in the evening so ill be wishing the day away.

I don't think I have a lot of symptoms Im just 6w - Everyone says their boobs are killing them. Mine are a bit tender but thats about it.
Not really tired - like everyone else. I was wide awake last night so will probably tired tonight but thats cause I didn't sleep.
Not really hungry in the morning and don't want eat my usual porridge and tea is making me feel sick. Kinda like when Im hungover I can't have either of them.
During the night I have dry mouth its like I was out drinking, that type of feeling.

Trying not to worry - trying to be positive.

ns1348 · 05/01/2017 12:34

Hi all,

Like skip I was going to not join for a while yet, but the fur babies have drawn me out: here's our one-eyed wonder on my lap. He usually sleeps in bedroom with us (often on bed), and likes to get in all the things, so I'm a bit worried, as hoping to get a co-sleeping cot to attach to bed to save me getting out of bed as I'm a wheelchair user: think we'll have to keep cat out of bedroom at night at least!

I'm only 4 + 2 today, hence planning to wait a little.

EDD 13 September, and plan to find out sex.

Fairly anxious (and have endometriosis), so booked early scan on 28th today. I've been peeing all the time since about a week ago, have had the odd bit of nausea and breast-sensations: swear boobs are growing already!

kavanaughkj · 05/01/2017 12:41

I'm jealous of all the furbabies! We can't have them as we rent and DH is allergic to cats unfortunately. Used to have 2 when I was younger and I miss them both so much.

Welcome in Skip and NS! I can understand being reluctant to post here as it doesn't feel real yet for me either and won't until at least my scan, but I do think it helps being able to share random ramblings with folks on here.

marmitecheesetoast · 05/01/2017 12:57

Welcome Skip and NS!

Totally understandable to feel that way Skip everything crossed for a sticky one for you this time. Hope the wait isn't too bad for you.

Hells I kept telling people pregnancy felt like being hungover for the whole of the first trimester! I didn't think I'd ever drink tea with milk again! Is your scan tonight then? Exciting, will be sending good luck vibes!

I ordered a hypnobirthing book and CD and also a pregnancy fitness/birthing ball from Amazon which arrived yesterday, exciting! Tried listening to the CD last night but I feel asleep about 15 mins in to the 40 min track Blush I'm sure all the positive stuff will still have gone in subconsciously though right?! Will have to try again not so close to bedtime!

FXSkip · 05/01/2017 14:04

Lol marmite I literally can’t do anything lying down as I’ll just fall asleep!!

ns your cat is absolutely gorgeous! I can’t wait for maternity leave – a whole year of chilling with my babycat!! Have you always been a wheelchair user?

ns1348 · 05/01/2017 14:41

Thanks for the welcomes.

Thanks skip! As is yours: maybe mine's two-eyed relative?! They look alike. My impairment is from birth (cerebral palsy), but I've only been a wheelchair user since 2010. I've mostly found it really liberating as pre-wheelchair use I just accepted that there was stuff I couldn't do because I couldn't walk far. Now I let very little stop me!

Having said that I have a fair few related anxieties around my impairment and pregnancy, birth and parenting (especially in the early years). I can pretty much sit on the floor in my powerchair though, so that'll be a plus. Looking forward to chatting pregnancy through with GP a bit on Tuesday, as she's really nice.

DH took me out for birthday dinner last night and I went to leave via the stepped entrance (in powerchair!) - that wouldn't have gone so well for the bean!

Have any of you had any food-related symptoms? I feel like I'm not such a fan of strong smells (eg wine or coffee on table near me), but other than that nothing - DH had checked I was ok to go to a Thai restaurant last night as SIL went off Thai during pregnancy. It was really yum, though, luckily, besides nausea briefly before leaving house!

Starmist · 05/01/2017 16:08

Oh ladies I was in a car crash a few hours ago. Someone went into the back of me. I'm physically fine but I still feel like the adrenaline is pumping & I'm shaken. I'm so worried about the effect on baby. Trying to calm down but it's hard Sad

MouseLove · 05/01/2017 16:16

Oh no starmist. Try deep breathing. I'm glad you're ok but still, please go checked over.

FXSkip · 05/01/2017 16:32

Gah starmist glad you are ok!! Honestly don't worry about beany, they're tucked away safely just focus on calming your adrenal system - really long deep breaths stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system

ns thanks for sharing! I find that very interesting as my doctor thinks I will be in a wheelchair 'soon-ish' due to a degenerative spine condition, he thinks pregnancy will either make it heaps better or heaps worse, and I'm terrified of ending up in a wheelchair at 8 months pg as I live and work on the top floor with no lifts!

Your doc and midwives will have loads of info I'm sure about the practicalities - I would imagine a birthing pool is out for you though? I can't even believe I'm talking about birth to be honest, I feel like I'm in a dream!

ns1348 · 05/01/2017 17:17

starmist I'm so sorry to hear that Sad deep breathing and other relaxation exercises sound like a plan to me.

skip no worries whatsoever, thanks for sharing the reason for your interest - yours is quite a different journey to mine by the sounds of it, but do message or let me know here if I can help at all, or if you have questions. And I hope the pregnancy actually helps lots!

I have a friend who's a midwife, who hasn't seen many (or really any, I think) wheelchair using mums-to-be, so I'm a bit worried they won't know what to do with me, but fingers crossed.

Good point about the birthing pool (and yes, talking about birth super surreal!), actually hadn't occurred to me... depends on what options there are for getting in and out I guess (maybe they'll have a hoist, that would be great, but probs wishful thinking). I can walk a bit at the mo, but who knows what'll happen over course of pregnancy... my foot's worse now, but that could be the cold... trying to keep exercising and being optimistic!

LovelyFishy · 05/01/2017 21:12

Hello again everyone! Sorry for going a bit AWOL, I just had a lazy few days. Grin

EDD: 19th May
Sex: girl

Hello to all the new arrivals, lovely to have you with us!

Sorry to hear about the accident Star. I'm sure baby is fine, they are so well protected. But of course go get yourself checked out, especially if it will ease your mind. I was in a minor accident same as yours sounds (on way home from the midwife appointment of all things!) and baby was just fine.

I include a picture of my own two fur babies. They're currently very spoilt so no idea how they'll react to a baby! Confused

#TTC1 - Second Wave grads thread!
FXSkip · 05/01/2017 21:13

Yes ns different journeys indeed. Hopefully with happy healthy pregnancies and babies though! I can back 3 times to look at your cat today, I'm honestly starting to think I've got a problem with cat addiction. So I've got sweaty mouth (like about to vom) and SUPER smelly gas Blush feel about 9 months pregnant, waddling around trumping. Who the f*ck thinks pregnancy is fun????? How do people get to full term and not know????

kavanaughkj · 05/01/2017 21:15

Yikes Star, glad you're not hurt, that must have been a shock. The others sound like they have the right idea - try to relax and put on some calming music or something.

NS and Skip - you ladies are inspiring and your positive mental attitudes are fantastic. I could learn a thing or two from you both!

kavanaughkj · 05/01/2017 21:18

LOL Skip - you have to wonder that, don't you? I was farting constantly for the first few weeks though thankfully (for both me and DH) it seems to have calmed down a lot in the last week (I'm 9 weeks tomorrow). I do feel very hangoverish a lot these days though - a constant low level nausea that only really goes away when I eat, which is partially why I'm now heavier today than I ever have been in my life!

Starmist · 06/01/2017 08:09

Thanks for all your comments ladies. Lovely it was reassuring to hear you'd been through something similar & all was ok.

I called a number the doctor told me to call if I was worried about anything yesterday afternoon. I spoke to a midwife who said the impact would not affect the baby at all. I said I was worried about the stress, she told me to relax but to go to A&E if any pain or bleeding.

I've not had any spotting. I've had some feelings on my left side (where ovulation pain happens) & some pressure low across all of my tummy but it's not what you'd call pain & under normal circumstances I wouldn't be worried about it. I'd like to exaggerate the symptoms so I can get a scan to put my mind at rest. DH is against this, he worries if you lie about something bad happening, it will happen.

Not sure what to do. I'm only 6+4 it'll be ages until my normal scan. What do you think? I'm seeing midwife for my booking in appointment on Tuesday so I could explain it to her then & see if she arranges an early scan?

MouseLove · 06/01/2017 08:28

Starmist I don't think you should say you have worrying symptoms. But I do think when you have your midwife appointment stress how much the worry is getting to you. I think she may either give you an early scan or give you some coping techniques. Honestly I don't think you have anything to worry about if you feel fine. Getting yourself worked up won't help anything. Go stand in front of the mirror and give yourself a talking to.

I am pregnant
I will meet my baby in 9 months
I will be a mummy

X

Starmist · 06/01/2017 08:47

Thanks Mouse xx Yeah I don't want to take the place of someone who really does need urgent medical attention. You just get worried & that makes you think silly things. Will talk to midwife about it, that's only a few days away.

MrsG280516 · 06/01/2017 12:21

Star are you able to pay for an early scan when you get to 7 weeks? It really put my mind at rest as I'd been having period like cramps but no spotting or anything.

marmitecheesetoast · 06/01/2017 12:42

Sorry to hear about your accident Star. As others have already said, baby is very well cushioned and protected in there so please try not to worry. I know it's easier said than done though, I had a fall down the stairs a few weeks ago and got myself all worked up but it was fine. Called MW triage and they didn't even want to see me as I'd landed (hard!) on my bum and lower back, bump wasn't hit so they weren't fussed. Did you hit your abdomen on steering wheel? Have you been to get checked out just for yourself (e.g whiplash?) It really doesn't sound like you have any worrying symptoms from what you've said - all those sensations are perfectly normal pregnancy sensations! Try and take comfort from the fact you've spoken to a MW and they are not in any way concerned that it will have caused any problems. Flowers

Haha Skip and Kav bloating and trumping were pretty much my only early pregnancy symptoms! Blush it's weird isn't it, wonder what causes it?!

Had my whooping cough jab this morning, remembered at the last minute to get it in my right arm despite being right handed so that it didn't affect sleeping on my left tonight! Meant I got to have a bit of a lie-in before work this morning but still struggling to stay awake already, thank goodness its Friday!

ns1348 · 06/01/2017 14:02

Marmite I had no idea whooping cough jabs during pregnancy are a thing, so thanks for mentioning that, and well remembered about which arm - totally the king of thing I'd forget.

Star I second what Mrs suggested about a scan - if you can find somewhere and afford it that might help to put your mind at rest?

I feel quite overwhelmed by both being pregnant (still in disbelief, but my line's stronger than ever this morning!) and having so much to learn/sort.

Really kindly my parents this morning offered to help us extend the house in time for baby (assuming it comes!) - this would mean we have a guest bedroom longer term (potentially very helpful as my parents live 200 miles away!), and a bigger living space. BUT I'm not sure how I feel about accepting their help, AND it would be another thing to try and sort before mid-Septish (not sure if even possible)! Have any of you had thoughts about moving/renovations during pregnancy?

My main symptom at mo is cramping/dull constant pain, both around my uterus and where I have endometriosis, but this seems normal?

We're hosting my birthday celebrations tomorrow, so I'm really hoping no one quizzes me about not drinking alcohol because I'm not a good liar and I hate lying... though I did used to have some days off anyway, but probably weird at my own party... any ideas?

I'm going to have a rest now, as I'm really bad at self-care in terms of taking it easy, but recognise its importance! Don't really have exhaustion above and beyond my usual levels of fatigue, which doesn't encourage me to rest.
