I feel sorry for you ladies that have to commute. I walk to work only 5 mins up the road. It's the 12 hour night shifts and heavy work I do that's killing me. Thank goodness I don't have to travel on top of that!

LondonGirl83 · 23/11/2016 16:31

I feel so bad for you ladies! My commute isn't too bad. It can be done in circa 35 min but I tend to take a slower route in these days as its less hectic. I am just 28 weeks now and while I'm starting to feel more tired, I'm not too bad yet. I hope I can last until the end of January as I originally planned to.

CuriosityDoor · 23/11/2016 16:37

I've just eaten 3 chocolate bars....the baby made me do it... Blush

twocatsandatoddler · 23/11/2016 17:28

My commute is manageable (about 1hr 15 mins) if I'm going straight in / straight home, but I have to do nursery drop-off or pick-up most days, and I'm so slow pushing the buggy up hills these days that it's more like 1hr 35 mins when I go via nursery.

Nursery is a 25 min walk from our house, in spring/summer we have a nice walk home through a park but it's unlit and literally too dark to see where you're walking in late autumn and winter so I have to go the long way round via the busy road at the moment. It's a bit depressing in the dark and cold. Thankfully it's not too long until Christmas and I only have 3 or 4 days in the office in January as I'm planning to work mainly from home, so I don't have to do it much longer.

To top it off, I've been getting very little sleep at night, and am suffering with a cold which has left me feeling really breathless so I'm dreading the walk home this evening as I'm exhausted and lightheaded. Definitely finding pregnancy harder this time round.

Mysterycat23 · 23/11/2016 18:32

Curiosity I hear you! Have always loved chocolate but I seem to have lost all self control now. If I know it's there it just vanishes into my face regardless of how much it is or what time of day..

Roseandwine · 23/11/2016 20:32

Ugh...horrible commute! Sending live and strength out to all ladies struggling. I started today, like Sunday, vomming. I'm very lucky that this year I dropped down to teaching three days a week and today was my day off. I was sick every day 'til week 30 with ds. This pg is just a few times a week and I'm sure it's when my blood sugar is not in check (although they say no link). When I start retching I just can't stop. Of course I am greatful for this pregnancy but I just wish my version of pregnancy did not involve quite so much vomming!!!

LondonGirl83 · 23/11/2016 20:51

Poor you Rose. It sounds awful. I feel lucky my nausea stopped at 16 weeks. The tiredness from the first trimester has come back in a major way for the last two days.

Keepingupwiththejonesys · 23/11/2016 21:19

Evening ladies. I came to bed with the kids tonight, eldest doesn't go to preschool on a Thursday so we all got in my bed and I stuck a film on. Kids both fast asleep by 8.15 but I'm quite enjoying being snuggled between them. I had intention of reading my book but I'm so tired. I think instead I'm gonna go to sleep in between the kids and hubby can find another bed tonight haha!

LunaPatuna · 24/11/2016 00:35

I am awake and trying to catch up on here! Also eating a lot more sweet stuff than usual and feeling guilty about it but I fainted with low blood sugar a while ago so if I feel the urge I'm sticking that spoon right into the Nutella jar!
DP comes back from 16 days in Melbourne on Sunday so we can maybe go find a travel system next week! I'm so bored of looking at them online.

Evergreen17 · 24/11/2016 09:02

Thanks for the new thread!!!! I am still off sick with the cold from hell
28+3 and already done with this pregnancy. Back is sore. Cold of hell with no meds. Tired and never getting a seat.
Oneiroi I feel your pain. I worked the weekend with my cold and I left yhe house at 8 and got there at 12 Sad stupid commute.
I have 4 weeks and 1 day left at work. Then hols at 33 weeks and maternity leave at 35. I am so not regretting finishing early.
Fenella I have 2 hours each way too Sad
I dont remember the last time I slept properly. This cold has honestly been the worst thing Sad

Come baby already. 28weeks appointment today. I bet the GTT discussion will be brought again. Patience. Patience.

LondonGirl83 · 24/11/2016 10:49

Ever I always stand uncomfortably close to someone and stare at them until they get up. That usually works. I've actually asked for a seat twice but usually it doesn't come to that. Be assertive! Its outrageous for people not to give up their seats to women in the 3rd trimester! It gives me the rage when I think about it...

LondonGirl83 · 24/11/2016 10:52

The Petit Bateau sale has started! I don't need any more baby clothes but there was a cute dress on there that I couldn't resist. I showed it to DH and he was like we have to buy it.

I am now worried I'm not going to be able to control the impulse to spoil her!

Evergreen17 · 24/11/2016 11:01

London the only way I get a seat is by getting on the tube and shouting can I please have a seat??!!! But it shouldnt be like this and I get upset at having to do this every time Sad

I cant possibly buy anymore clothes! I think I have plenty. I still need to knit some hats and booties.

I just want the baby here already, I am constantly worrying something will go wrong!

GinIsIn · 24/11/2016 11:06

I never get a seat on the tube Sad

I just ate a whole packet of biscuits, and now I feel soooo sick....

twocatsandatoddler · 24/11/2016 11:26

Thankfully I rarely get the tube these days as I can walk from Liverpool St to my office, but when I do get the tube to meet friends after work I rarely get a seat, especially now I'm laden down with coat and scarf so the bump is less obvious.

Feel for you ladies who have to get the tube or more packed trains every day - I almost always manage to get a seat on my mainline train, but I remember commuting in from South London on Southern trains in early pregnancy last time and feeling so tired and nauseous and despite the badge, almost never getting a seat. I almost passed out in the aisle a couple of times and had to sit down on the floor among people's feet and bags!

LondonGirl83 · 24/11/2016 11:51

I get overland trains from South London and do manage to get a seat but I don't travel during the rush hour (I've agreed t his with work). I mostly take the bus in the evening and always get a seat then too but like I say, I'm willing to make people uncomfortable by glaring at them until they get up!

We've decided not to go to Devon for Christmas as even though we booked first class tickets, they were not providing assigned seats which means there could be standing room only in First Class. First of all, I think that's ridiculous on principle but also, while I'd hope someone would give me a seat, for a 3 plus our journey on a super crowded train, I simply won't risk it.

We are going to spend our very first Christmas in London (I can't go home to Miami because of Zika) which in someways is exciting. My mom is flying over to spend the holidays with us, so we won't be entirely alone :)

Evergreen17 · 24/11/2016 11:59

We wont be going anywhere this Christmas either. I dont wanna risk flying to Spain at 33 weeks (probably ok to do but I just dont think I want to, if I panic I wont have the antenatal unit to go to)
And DH's family is 3 /4 hours drive away and I just feel like being in my own home and comfortable.

twocatsandatoddler · 24/11/2016 12:13

London that is ridiculous that they can't allocate seats in first class, especially on a first-come-first-served basis if you've booked in advance. I'm sure someone would give you a seat, but I always feel bad making someone get up if it's a long journey - fine if it's a short hop on the tube, but no one wants to stand all the way to Devon even if a pregnant lady needs the seat more!

We're going to stay with my family for a few days over Christmas, but they're only about 1hr45-2hrs away, and then DH's family for Boxing Day for a night or two, but they're even closer at under an hour away. I'm not sure I'd be travelling any further than that, and I've already said I won't travel to see my family in January anymore, as I don't want to be 2 hours drive away from home once I'm in the final month.

GinIsIn · 24/11/2016 12:25

We aren't going away anywhere for Christmas either but I do have to cook Christmas lunch for 14, which is not filling me with joy and sparkles.

AIBU to order them all a dominos and stay in bed? Grin

MarjorySunshineDust · 24/11/2016 12:32

We were considering driving up to Nottingham for a few days over Christmas to stay with SIL and in laws who are flying over but have decided to stay home. It's a good 4 hour drive which is never fun with a toddler at the best of times, I just want a cosy Christmas at home.
Will just be the 3 of us Christmas Day then will have my extended family over on Boxing Day for a buffet. Nice and simple!

FriendlyGhost · 24/11/2016 13:25

London will you be going by sw trains? I get them regularly to see my family in Devon and I find they're brilliant at helping you if you need it. I always ask because I travel with a buggy and they usually help me to a seat. I bet if you ask the conductor they'll make sure you get a seat.
As for southern trains I got so fed up with commuting on them last pregnancy and no one ever giving me a seat that I just sat in first class. The fact that they're usually half empty when the rest of the train is packed annoys me and I'd honestly like to see someone try to fine a pregnant woman who wouldn't have a seat otherwise. I remember bumping into a fellow pregnant NCT friend on the train once. We both sat in first class and just ignored the inspector when he came round. I don't think he dared to say anything Grin

LondonGirl83 · 24/11/2016 14:15

Friendly I think the trains are SW as they go via Paddington. The issue isn't on the way down but on the way back. Apparently due to some issue with the tracks they are combining trains which is why they can't give us an assigned seat even in first class.

To be honest with you, if the train is going to be that rammed, seat or no seat, I simply don't want to be on it. It will be a nightmare just going to the toilet etc and I likely won't be able to sit with my husband.

I was initially disappointed but now that my mom is coming I'm kind of excited about having Christmas in my own house for the first time. It makes me feel like a real life grown up or something!

divadee · 24/11/2016 17:31

Glad I'm not the only one sticking to my guns of not travelling this Christmas. We are having people to us instead.

Evergreen17 · 24/11/2016 18:21

28 weeks appointment went all well and I am so confused Confused
You probably remember that I have been very confused from the beginning with the GTT thing.
So 2 midwives said I needed the test and 2 said nope.
So last week midwife says we will just look at your glucose on the bloods and if high you do the test. Hmm
So today I see the other midwife and she says no signs of diabetes Grin and writes down SGTT all good.
So my confusion is that what test have they done? Because I have my regular eggs for breakfast and then went for blood tests. So not the usual drink sugar then they check.
I am happy that they said no sign of diabetes and that I am not to do thhe sugary drink stuff and I had no risk factors. But isnt this weird??? ConfusedHmm

Evergreen17 · 24/11/2016 18:23

To clarify, I was told to just do a non fasting test and never told about doing any sugar drink.
Midwife just said we will just look at your bloods
